Robin's Song
A short piece I wrote one evening when I couldn't sleep
Down a lonely path I walked
And heard a robin's song.
It nested there among the green
But was gone before too long.
Yet I came to it again
Some way farther down the road.
I sang its song back to it
Though its tune I could not hold.
Still I sang and was proud I did
Though the bird was not impressed.
It flew then from the canopy
And left, though I did my best.
Down a lonely path I walked
And sang a robin's song.
It drifted there among the green
And I was gone before too long.
