"Thirty-one." A gun shot is heard but not seen. "Thirty-two." Another blast coming from some firearm can be heard. "Thirty-three." Our view pans to what appeared to be plain of some sort. The scenery is that of a desert scrub. Near the horizon are a bunch of strange, dark flying, insectoid creatures with white features, looking akin to masks. These creatures belong to a sort known as the Creatures of Grimm. They have a rather fly-like appearance. They're rather small, albeit a bit bloated. Naturally, they're rather slow. However, it's their numbers that are known to be the key factor. With their numbers, they have overwhelmed many a traveler. Granted, it's usually not these that often score the kill but some other, more powerful Grimm. They simply benefit from their stronger benefactor and do what they can to overwhelm their prey.

Unfortunately, not only is their larger, beefier friend not in sight right now but they lack of a proper target. The Bloat Fly-ish Grimm don't necessarily have the best senses. They can generally only detect prey within twenty of so yards of their little bodies. Speaking of their potential prey, the camera now pans to our heroes as I chew on a piece of straw. "Hey! Are you monologuing to yourself again, Tobias?! You do realize you started speaking out loud about halfway in, right?"

Tobias nearly loses his footing, turning his attention to a redhead sporting the ears of a red panda, a Red Panda Faunus and his teammate. "Damnit Selphie! You ruined our intro already." In the midst of speaking, the piece of straw the young man was chewing on fell out. He has rather slick black hair. Granted, most of it's under a cowboy hat. Formerly on his shoulder and now by his side is a a rifle with Winchester undertones, though it's clearly modernized and has a scope on it. The young man stands more than head and shoulders over the Faunus at around 6'11' to her 5'3'', sporting a tanned complexion. The Faunus' complexion seems to give off a Eurasian look. There's clear east Asian undertones, though she clearly has the appearance of being half English, half Asian. At least, that's what her equivalent in our world would be.

Back to the story at hand... The Faunus kicks at the ground and pouts. "They're not doing anything. They haven't been for awhile. Besides, Valky and Rosa should be back at any time. I thought we were waiting on them. We're protecting these supplies, aren't we?" Selphie turns back to the crates behind them. In front of them is more crates and some rundown walls. Apparently, they were on the outskirts of a settlement that had been lost to the Grimm. The people were looking to reclaim these outskirts. However, there was a serious Bloater problem.

"One that I, Tobias Dorado was looking to amend, with help from my, ahem, somewhat lazy assistant." "There it is again! And I'm not lazy! I'm watching out for the others. I'm also watching the other sides for other Grimm." Tobias growls a little in response to Selphie. "Still, ya supposed to be helping me. These pests have been drifting closer to the settlement past few days and there's a mess of em coming. I still see more comin' from the horizon over yonder." Tobias gestures to the horizons where more Bloaters appear to the place the score or two Tobias had killed. The human had lost count so he had started again at one. "At anytime, one of the tougher Grimm's bound to creep on in and these pests could very well get too close fer comfort before you know it. That's how they work after all. Their senses grow most capable once a larger, tougher Grimm approaches. They become... like a bloody hive mind, especially with other Grimm. So, quit yer yappin' and get firin' that bow of yours. I'm sure you have the range. You might even be able to make use of your other weapons."

"For your information, it's not a bow. The proper term is Yumi Bow." Selphie had multiple weapons on her. On her right hip were small kunai-like knives. On the other she had shruikens. She also had some decent sized daggers for close-quarters, all strapped around her waist. She was a mixture of an agile hand to hand fighter and a ranger fighter, a quiver of dust-tipped arrows on her back. Tobias, on other hand wielded two revolvers, a rifle, and medium-sized knife.

Unlike their team mates and most Hunters and Huntresses, the two ultized multiple weapons rather than a single weapon that changed forms, much like Nakita's Repeater Crossbow, which could separate into dual scimitars with some clicks and flicks or Thistle's Boomstick Baton. This weapon had three forms. A Baton-shaped boomstick and a thin yet durable whip complete with sharp, thorn-like bits of metal.

Though, we shall say enough of these. It seemed someone was approaching the door. They couldn't quite make out who they were, though. Little that they know, an illusionary predator was coming out to play. The Bloaters began to drift a little closer together and a little closer to the approaching Grimm, though it was coming off to their side. These kinds of Grimm generally preferred acting on their own. However, they weren't above allowing the Bloaters to appear as a distraction, seemingly moving in to attack them, appearing as unsuspecting traveler, trying to appeal to the compassion of Hunters and Huntresses alike. As they drew closer, specific features were still indecipherable, a red flag. Tobias' eyes narrowed at the sight of them. Selphie seemed a little anxious, that compassion thing coming into play. Unfortunately, that's where the first part of our little short story comes to an end.
