Chapter 1

Morning. A beautiful tumultuous spectacle to the senses, compared to the peaceful nothingness of sleep withing the egg it was bliss. The wind brushed over Vexy, light pierced through the thick jungle canopy, bathing the newborn scales with radiant sunlight.

Stretching his body across the mossy tree roots, Vexy studied his surroundings. Scanning from left to right, his sight became saturated with all shades of green and brown as the trees surrounding him showered him in color. A haphazard collection of trees rose to touch the sky, Rooted to the ground with outwardly growing roots covering the jungle floor as a rugged web, Moss and ferns became a carpet overwhelming every tree trunk and root. Vexy giggled taking wobbly steps, he took as leaf and that brushed against his ankles. And began leaping about as a new-born lamb, spinning in circles chirping happily.

Out of breath, he took one last jump in the air and ended paws in the air, surveying his new surrounding in an upside-down position. Exhausted from his fantastic morning, Vexy started to close his eyes wen out of nowhere his heart sank to his stomach as he caught sight of an inverted judging gaze.

Lying atop a low-hanging branch, her spiked tail swinging back and forth, with a steely gaze fixed on Vex. She was sleek and small, camouflaged against the verdant background. Her head and back were an alga green while her neck and belly were lime colored. Her scaly legs gave the illusion of mud crusting over them.

“Finally awake?" she asked, as her lips curled into a half smile.

Vex, relieved to finally recognize his sister, exclaimed, “Hi Scylla! You're up early."

“Morning is almost over Vex. You're up late" replied Scylla, quite smugly.

“So, what should we do?"

Scylla had only one thing in mind while waiting for her brother to wake. “My tummy has been grumbling for hours. So, let's find some food."

“That sounds great! Last one to find food gets, uhm... less food!" Vex chuckled as he bolted towards the wilderness.

Scylla had no time to call for him, picking up dirt and leaves behind her stride, attempting to catch up to Vexy. Scylla screamed after Vexy; "w- wait! don't get lost!"

she then quickly thought "what if I get lost?"

she picked up her pace hoping to catch up to Vexy.

But no matter how much she sprinted and witch way she looked Scylla saw not even a tail or paw from Vexy, “had she gotten lost" she thought.

she stopped, taking a small break, all the running had tired her out, she had nothing to eat the entire morning. She was going to lie down when she heard a strange “roar". She screamed for help, for her brother. Scylla was lying below the creature thinking she was about to be devoured, strangely enough the monster was the same size as her, it smelled of leaves and mud and of her sibling. Did this creature devour her brother and was about to eat her as well?

Scylla was quickly on her back and about to be devoured, but upon opening her eyes, was surprised To see Vexy salivating over her, covered in leaves and mud from head to tail. tongue sticking out like he's been running forever. "Not funny!" Scylla Protested at her brother. Still Laughing breathlessly, Vexy pushed himself off atop Scylla, leaves falling from Vexy's body gather around them. "Really not funny, you could have gotten hurt" Scylla Lectured "or worst" she added "it's [panting for breath] it's fine. I'm alive, aren't I?" replied Vex still Laughing.

"Did you find food?" asked Scylla flicking leaves off of her shoulder

"Yes, yes. It was loads a foods" said Vex excitedly "Can you lead the way" Scylla asked politely "Yes, yes. this way!" answered Vex trotting towards the dense Jungle growth behind him.

Being sure that his sister was Following him Vex carried onwards, the shelter he found in the Jungle was not far from where they were. It didn't take them long to get to the spot, the Strange shaped object gave of a nice scent from within its walls, Scylla was overwhelmed by the powerful aroma she could not hold her instinct and went straight towards the small shelter. She could not get herself to stop until she reached the origin of the aroma she had to know what smelled so delicious it was making her salivate all over. She finally got down to the strange shelter, it was filled with what she would later call “the biggest gift of all!" Vex was making his way down the rock slide. They had to climb to get to the shelter. Coming in for a closer view the shelter looked to be part of the Jungle except once one got too close. Inside He saw Scylla salivated her life out and eating everything she thought edible, there was also water in a container which refilled itself constantly after being emptied. Vex had already eaten so he just drank from the self-refilling puddle. Scylla having finished her food binge drank some water and fell asleep beside her brother. They stayed there for a couple of hours, Vex keeping watch on the cold floor of their shelter, Eventually he too fell to temptation and rested. Scylla had the nicest sleep she had since she had been in her egg. the floor on the shelter made for a really comfortable sleeping arrangement. Waking up from her sleep Scylla saw her brother pretending to guard her again. Of course, he was way past sleep. He looked almost dead, Vex didn't make a sound at her waving her paw in front of his face, she ignored her sleeping brother and went to get some fresh air outside of their shelter. The Jungle was a mess today, there were lots of chirping and scurrying about from all sorts of directions, Scylla didn't like the sound one bit so she took to the bushes and waited for whatever was coming. it felt like an eternity but finally she felt it, new comers to the jungle. Scylla picked up their weird sent it was very confusing, she could smell flowers even though there were no flowers in that direction.

Eventually she saw it. A tall 2-legged Thing with a long branch on its forelegs, and on the other a long sharp claw which he used to cut down bushes in front of him. It was weird to see it's display, the creature was also wearing other animals skins like a warning.

Behind the tall one Scylla saw a small group of similar 2-legged creatures but they seemed less threatening than the one on front, perhaps she should warn Vex before is too late. Scylla slowly crawled to their shelter but before she could get inside and warn her brother she saw the smaller 2-legged creatures seal Vex inside their shelter, while vex was still Sleeping "vex you sleep like a Tree" Scylla said to herself angrily.

In an effort to rescue her brother Scylla leapt out of her hiding place and on to one of the 2 legged creatures, They started Screaming and panicking blabbering things she would never understand. Scylla bit the arm of the one holding Vex and made them scream when she bit his leg as well. When one of them picked her up She turned her flexible neck and bit his nose that made him drop her to the ground then two of them tried to pounce on her and she once again got away really easy. One of the Scrawny 2-legged got sneaky and took of his extra skin and caught her with it, when she bit down on the extra skin he did not open his mouth. The 2 legged mocked her so she clawed at him as hard as she could until she saw blood coming out of his weird front paws and heard the screams of anguish. but before she could cry victory and run away once again. She felt a sharp point on her back. Scylla felt everything slowly fading to darkness she had been poisoned by these 2 legged and she did not know the end of it, "they will pay" she thought, For now Scylla Slept she heard laughter that she recognized out of the 2 legged before completely being unconscious.
