Stupid Allergies
Imported from SF2 with no description.
"Today is the day," Eugene mumbled as he placed the mask on the nightstand next to the double bed. He entered the basement and shouted, "Babe, everything all set here? Do you need me to grab something from the supermarket real quick?"
"All set here, hun!" Grayson replied, as he hugged Eugene by surprise. He is in a playful mood, and he decided to ease Eugene's mood a little by lurking right next to the basement door.
The two chuckled as they play-wrestled on the ground, cheating a little here and there with Eugene tickling the bigger man. After five minutes, the two laid down on the basement floor, catching their breaths.
"I wish I can be with you, Gray... It doesn't feel right for you to just stay here all by yourself, you know?" Eugene pouted.
Grayson sighed, "Same feelings here, Gene, but what can you do? Your allergies..." He shook his head. "It's fine! I mean, look at this "man-cave" here. A fridge with all the meat for the big, bad wolf to snack on, video game consoles for the rest of the night, and even a passageway leading to the forest if I want to go on a run. Besides, it's only for one night every month, sweetheart," he grinned.
"Stupid body of mine. Of all the things, why do I have to be deathly allergic to your fur? It's stupid. Can't even last more than 30 minutes with a mask, and my sneezes would be torture with your enhanced senses too," Eugene complained, he really wished he could be there for his boyfriend after the change, but alas.
Grayson guffawed, "Hey, hey, it's really not bad, you know? Your sneezing fits are cute to my ears, not complaining there! I'm more worried on you because I can smell your pain from those after a while. Look, it's fine, don't worry about it, OK?"
The two hugged once more, as an attempt to comfort each other. However, both of them knew. Even with all the smiles and encouragement that it's no one's fault, the two hated that the allergy exists. They did not let that stop their relationship, though. From that blind date, Grayson and Eugene knew that they were meant to be with each other. Hell, for Grayson, his instincts immediately screamed that Eugene is his mate.
........................
9 months before...
Eugene was a trembling mess. Why in the world did he agree to Chelsea's blind date plan? Sure, she had the best intentions in mind after how awful the break-up was. The dickwad, Steve, was a manipulative trash to Eugene. He was very affectionate and caring to Eugene at first, but all that crumbled once he moved in.
Controlling on who he should be friends with, judging on the food he's eating, complaining about even the smallest things Eugene did in the apartment. For fuck's sake, the guy even hated his habit of removing his shoes right at the welcome mat and setting them neatly by the rack right in front of the door. Eugene finally decided that the "love" he felt on Steve was nowhere close to enough when he found out from Chelsea, who saw it by accident. After all that crap, the asshole decided to cheat on him. Sure, he was hurt very badly by that, but by the end of it, he had to admit that Eugene and Chelsea's schemes to humiliate him in public is a good closure on that book.
However, a year has passed and Eugene became even more reserved because of it. The only people he opened up to are Chelsea and his parents. Fed up over this and deciding to help Eugene out of his mental prison, she had talked him out to participate in a blind date.
"Gene, honey, trust me, you'll love him!" Chelsea remarked.
Eugene sighed, "Look, Chelsea, it's fine, really. I really don't think this is a good idea."
Chelsea held his hand, "Eugene, I'm not forcing you to have a new boyfriend from that. I just... Look, you haven't been the same after... you know? It hurts seeing you like this. Come on, just think of this as an experiment. I know he is a good fit for you, but you can just think of this as another chance to have a new acquaintance, hmm?"
After some time, Eugene nodded. "Fiiiine, Chelsea. Remember, you owe me if this turns out to be a big mess. Treat me for some ice cream if that's the case. No, not the small cup. The largest one Penguin's Igloo serves, got it?"
Chelsea laughed, "Oh, I got a hunch that won't be needed. Now, remember! Meet up at the place at 5 PM!"
..................................................
The blind date took place in a famous place close to the university. A cozy venue with affordable prices, serving all kinds of pastries, pancakes, ice creams, and their breakfast sets are to die for. Apparently, the man Eugene was waiting for had reserved one of the outdoor tables, with trees and flowers creating a serene feeling for its customers.
Not that the fresh air helped for the fidgeting university student. Eugene always hated his lack of confidence, he had expected to get out of that shell during his studies, but Steve happened. Three more months closer to his graduation, and he's nowhere close to breaking his old habits. Eugene sighed, it would be even later, but maybe the start of his first job at the high-end restaurant, Wulfric's Tavern, will help him with this issue.
Eugene was deep in thought, until he jolted as he realized that a... perfect specimen sat down on the chair next to him. He could have sworn he heard a growl, and the man sniffed the air before he introduced himself.
Grayson smiled brightly, "Hey there, uh... Eugene, right? Nice to meet you, I'm Grayson." He offered his hand.
Eugene shook the offered hand, but his jumbled mess made him say gibberish, "Uh... um... Yeah... Uh... N-nice to meet you... I'm E-Eugene, yes. Wait, you already know my name, fuck." He strangled himself in his mind. Way to start the conversation, you idiot!
Grayson laughed at this. "Whoa, relax, bud, I won't bite! Come on, don't think about this and just enjoy the moment... and the food!"
Eugene relaxed at this, and he calmed down right after ordering some ice cream and pancakes. Soon enough, the two discovered that they clicked, and conversations are flowing like a river. Eugene and Grayson discovered their shared interests on cooking and video games and they have this similar sense with their imaginations, laughing over the peculiar discussions they had. The waiter bringing their food chuckled when the two jolted, forgetting entirely that they were having a blind date.
Humming their responses on the food, both of them agreed that none of the food were overly sweet, as always. They agreed that they will go back here from time to time.
After splitting the bill, Grayson asked, "Listen, Eugene, I'm not sure about you, but... uh... I would like to see where this goes... D-doesn't have to be dating, you know? E-even starting as friends is fine with me!" Grayson slapped his face in his mind, there goes his plan to act all charming.
Eugene chuckled at Grayson being all bashful like he was at the start. "Sure, same feelings here, actually. So, buddy, you want to hang out at my apartment? I actually just got Tales of Arise, we could play it together if you want," he asked, putting his hand on the back of his head, blushing.
Grayson cheered, "Oh, hell yeah, sign me up! You wanna grab something for snacks, just in case?"
Eugene laughed, "Fine, fine, you big lug. Let's grab some cookies and drinks, yeah?"
As the two walked down the streets with their bought snacks, the two talked more about their lives. Apparently, Grayson is a student at the university close to Eugene's and he's also graduating this year. Grayson had obtained a very good deal on a house on the outskirts of the town, very close to his eventual job at the nearby hospital. After realizing that Eugene's workplace is around the area as well, he offered to share the place if Eugene wanted to. Eugene smiled at the offer and promised him that he will think about it.
.........................................
"Well, uh... Home sweet home? It's not a big apartment, but... yeah. The gaming console should be right at the living room," Eugene chuckled awkwardly.
Grayson chuckled, "You're fine, really. This is a cozy place, actually, a bit bigger than mine too."
After placing the box of donuts on the table and chilling their soft drinks in the fridge for later, the two sat next to each other on the sofa. An hour went by as the two watched the cutscenes, and having a blast collaborating with the combat until...
Grayson felt a peculiar itch. He frowned, that should not be the case until tomorrow. He paused the game, and checked on the phone. His eyes bulged over the clumsy mistake.
"You OK, bud? Why the sudden pause? You're sweating a bit too, are you..." Eugene was on his way to place his hand on Grayson's head, but he got pushed away.
Grayson shouted, "Wait, stay back, Eugene. SHIT, I messed up the date! I.... NGHHHHHH..."
Eugene was petrified. Grayson dropped on all fours, as his body bulged, slowly covering in fur. He growled over the changes and howled at the moon. In front of Eugene now is a towering werewolf with white fur.
Eugene stuttered, "Oh, uh... Grayson, you're... there?"
Grayson whimpered, "Damn it! I messed up the date, stupid full moon... Eugene, don't be scared, please. I'm still me..."
Surprisingly, Eugene laughed, making Grayson cock his wolf head. "Sorry, sorry. I thought I was insane when I heard you growl at the pancake place earlier, and the sniffing too. Well, this sure is a date to be remembered, or at least, a memorable start to a new friendship," he wiped the tear from his eye from the laughter.
Grayson's tail thumped vigorously, "Yeahhh, sorry, bud... Heh... Was planning on telling you before the change, but... Oops... Anyway, uh... Do you want to continue the game?"
Eugene nodded, "Sure, bud, let's just grab you some drinks and start... start... ACHOO! ACHOO! ACHOO!" After the first sneeze, Eugene frantically grabbed the handkerchief in his pockets.
The werewolf yelped at this. "Oh, shoot, you OK, bud?" He placed his paw on Eugene's back.
Eugene tried to answer, "It's fine, it's... ACHOO! ACHOO! Hang on!" He rushed into his room, grabbing another handkerchief and wearing a mask just in case he's sick. Wait, werewolves don't get sick, do they? Eugene decided to drink one of his allergy pills, just in case.
Grayson's ears perked as he heard Eugene stepping into the living room once more. "You all right? We can stop for now if you need some rest. I can easily sneak out without getting spotted."
Eugene shook his head, "No, no, it's fine, I already drank my allergy medication. Let's start the game again, you big wolf."
Two more hours went just fine with the human and the werewolf laughing over the game. Eugene gave Grayson some belly rubs in the middle, and he "Aww"ed over the werewolf laying down from the gesture. Grayson started panting, his tails wagging like crazy, and his tongue lolling out of his maw. "Someone's being a good boiiii, isn't he?" Eugene smirked.
Grayson snapped out of it and growled, "I'm not a good boy!"
Eugene laughed, "You sure, buddy?" He charged again on the wolf and scritched Greyson's ears.
Grayson snarled at first, "S-stop that, Eugene! I... I... Oohhh yes, right at that spot behind my ear, heheh..."
Eugene laughed even more at this, while Grayson blushed profusely over his reaction. "S-S-stupid werewolf... Can't even handle that..." He pouted.
Eugene chuckled, "Awwww, don't be, buddy! You're just so cute even though you are big, bad wolf on the outside. You're... ACHOO! ACHOO!"
The medication did not work. How can that be? He apologized over his sneezing fits, and tried his best to say goodbye to Grayson who carried him onto his bed.
"Get some rest, buddy," Grayson kissed Eugene's forehead. "Let's hang out again tomorrow!"
Eugene waved back at the werewolf lunging out of the apartment window. He dozed off soon afterwards.
....................
After that, the two became close friends. Chelsea was all smug about it, "I knew you two suit each other! Don't forget about me though, would you?"
Eugene laughed, "Don't worry, Chel, you're still my best friend." He smirked, "Remind me to say my thanks by offering you a blind date too."
Chelsea swatted his hand, chuckling. "Yeah, right, give me the best you got!"
Grayson joined the duo soon afterwards. Sure, the two would hang out much more now in either Eugene's or Grayson's apartment, but they made sure to invite Chelsea from time to time too. However, the werewolf situation remains a secret between the two for now.
Eugene's allergy was a major discussion between the two. Grayson's next visit to Eugene's place, everything went fine this time. When Eugene visited Grayson's apartment though, the sneezing started again and they had to go to a park instead. They decided to experiment Grayson's theory during their first date in Eugene's apartment two weeks later.
"So, uh, Gene, you might hate me but... Do you mind me trying something?" Grayson asked, twiddling his thumbs.
Eugene nodded, "What's up, Gray?"
Grayson scratched his head, "Well, about your allergies... You know how I can shift to my werewolf form when I want to, right? It's just involuntary during the full moon. What if..."
Eugene came to a realization over the sudden silence. "You think that I might be allergic to you when you change? I... really hope not, babe, that sucks."
Grayson sighed, "I know, but... we better find out if that's the case rather than ignoring it. So, you ready?"
Eugene nodded, ready with his handkerchief in his right hand. Grayson shifted, and... "ACHOO! ACHOO!"
Grayson shifted back immediately, "Fuck. Hang on, let me open the windows for some air."
Eugene cried, "Stupid allergies. Gray, I'm so sorry... I wish I can hang out with you as a werewolf, but my nose just... Argh!" He snorted into the handkerchief.
Grayson patted his shoulder, "There, there, Gene. It's all right, we can make this work, OK?"
Eugene smiled through the tears, "I hope we can make this work, Gray. I love you, and I don't want it to get in the..." He blinked. Fuck, he spat out the L word, way too early. His face is now bright red like a tomato.
Grayson's eyes bulged, and he blushed furiously as well. "O-oh... Uh... I... I thought I smelled wrong, but... I love you too, Gene."
The two embraced, and kissed each other. The full moon nights will be painful, but they know they will be fine.
............................................
It's been 9 months doing the same thing because of that fucking allergy. Eugene felt awful about it, and he knew Grayson felt guilty about the whole thing. What's worse, he hated the fact that Eugene had to step out to the forest because the urge to change had been withheld for way too long because of it. It's time... for him to do more for his love.
Taking deep breaths, he murmured, "It's almost time. Grayson mentioned... about his healing powers... so maybe..." Shaking his head over his doubts, he wore the mask as he saw the full moon rising. Eugene heard the grunts and the bones cracking, and he immediately charged into the basement, towards the crawling, changing Grayson!
Grayson was too distracted over his changes as he saw Eugene running towards him. "G-Gene... Stay BACK! What are you...!?"
Eugene did not stop. He rushed in, extending his right arm, placing it sideways, right between Grayson's growing snout. Before Grayson can complain, he gritted his teeth as he pushed down on his maw, causing the changing werewolf to leave a bite mark on Eugene's arm.
"N-NO! I... ARGHHH." Grayson arched his back from the final parts of his transformation. Feeling his nails becoming claws and his tail jutting out, he snarled with drool dripping from his maw. He heard cracking sounds next to him, but the urge to celebrate his changes took hold. He faced his maw towards the full moon and howled, and soon after, a second howl accompanying his.
As Grayson regained his senses, the werewolf looked back. "Eugene, sweetheart, are you OK!? Why did you..." He froze at what he saw, a handsome werewolf around his height with black fur, busy checking out his new body. Grayson stood in place, not realizing as he is pounced to the ground from Eugene's powerful hug.
"It works, it works! Gray, babe, the allergies are gone!" Eugene teared up, his tail wagging crazily.
Grayson chuckled, "Oh, I'm glad you're fine. Gene, sweetheart, you look just as handsome as a werewolf! You..." He suddenly growled, causing Eugene to yelp. "Why didn't you tell me about this plan? You could have been hurt! I'm born a werewolf, but you... you..."
He teared up, "I was very afraid! I don't want to lose you. I told you, I'm fine with our arrangements. You don't have to... sacrifice your humanity like this..."
Eugene hugged the crying wolf, "Oh, Grayson, it's not a sacrifice. You don't have to lie anymore, you were in pain over being alone. We share the same house, but I heard your howls these past nine months. It was awful, babe, I want to make it stop, you know?"
Grayson kept listening, crying over Eugene's shoulders. Eugene chuckled, "Besides, hun, I think you deserve more than just being in this basement alone for this special occasion, don't you?"
Grayson cocked his head at that, "What? What do you..."
............................
"SURPRISE!" Chelsea screamed, followed by Eugene's parents and two werewolves popping confettis at them. Both Eugene and Grayson yelped at this. "Oooookay, you are not kidding about the enhanced wearing," Eugene mumbled.
Grayson had his maw wide open as the two stood up, "Wh-what's all this?"
Chelsea said, "Your birthday, silly! Also, you are not kidding, Gene, you two sure are some adorable puppies."
Eugene smiled, "Babe, that's why I said it's not a sacrifice. Your parents actually invited me to their house last month. We talked a lot about you."
Greg and Tracy removed their earplugs. Tracy hugged Grayson, "Sorry, honey. We know you are struggling with the allergy situation. We tried asking you about it, but you kept saying that it's nothing at all, even though we can smell your unease."
Greg nodded, "So, we called Eugene here, and he accepted. He was the one suggesting to get turned, and he decided to do so during this full moon, right before your birthday. Throughout last month, we also discussed about this with Chelsea, Jeremy, and Julia."
Jeremy laughed, "Imagine our surprise when we saw two werewolves serving us tea and cakes in their mansion. First time seeing them myself, I'll say."
Julia chuckled, "Of course, Eugene told us about your relationship. Well, minus the werewolf situation. We talked a lot about the details of the change, and well, here we are!"
Jeremy nodded, "We want the best for the two of you, you know? Both me and Julia, as well as Greg and Tracy here. Since Eugene is confident about this solution, especially after the details we got about the werewolves, we gave our blessings."
Julia laughed, "Of course, it was funny seeing two tall werewolves trying to fit themselves in the van, but I see you two got it all sorted out, eh?"
Tracy laughed in return, "Well, what can you do? We're not as lucky as Eugene and Grayson with the housing, so we had to prepare for situations like this!"
Chelsea remarked, "And that's not all! Come on, Grayson, come here!" She held Grayson's paw, dragging him to the living room with the rest following close by.
A cake is placed on the living room table, with lit candles on it. Grayson's favorite strawberry cake, and... The werewolf saw the decorations at the top. Human figures resembling Eugene and Grayson, and his werewolf form howling at the full moon.
While Grayson was stunned at the decorations, Eugene placed his paw around his waist. "So, yeah, babe, sorry for surprising you like this. Will you forgive me?"
Grayson smiled brightly, showing his fangs. "Thank you so much, Gene... My love... I-I don't want to ask you to change for my sake, you know? But... I'm glad this happened, Gene. I love you so much..."
Eugene replied back, "I love you as well, my wolf." The two werewolves kissed, with the others cheering at the view.
Both parents were busy crying and taking pictures, with Greg and Tracy howling to celebrate the moment. Chelsea squealed over this show of affection, happy that Eugene finally found the one.
.............................
The house on the outskirts of town. The neighbors knew of the sweet couple living in it, a head chef working at Wulfric's Tavern and a surgeon at Asclepius Hospital.
Everyone does not know about the two werewolves cuddling by the sofa in the basement, enjoying video games. The two would take turns laying on each other's belly, and give belly rubs from time to time. The house becomes Eugene's and Grayson's shared safe zone, free to shift after the daily life stress.
Eugene nuzzled close to Grayson, "So, hun, full moon is coming up. You ready to run with me in the forest?"
Grayson growled, "Sure thing, babe. I'll show you the beautiful spots I found in the forest. Love you, my mate."
Eugene replied, "Love you too, my wolf."
A duet of howls can be heard from the forest from now on, the werewolf couple celebrating their moments together throughout the rest of the night. Greg and Tracy's ears perked at this.
"Our boys have grown so much, Tracy," Greg whispered.
Tracy chuckled, "They sure are, love."
Grayson's parents added their own howls right after.
