Worth the risks

"Oi, you ass this is all yer fault" yelled the hyena at the tigress as they ran trough the forest.
"MY fault? Whose dumb shit idea was to fire the damn crossbow?" Yelled the tigress back from behind the hyena.
"It was yer idea to steal from them! They caught us, I panicked what else was I-"
Sudden pain in the head interrupted the hyena, looking up he saw what he had collided with. A soldier, probably from, the camp they had tried to steal from.
Cursing to himself he tried to run past him, but was easily grabbed by his tail and thrown out of balance.
"Let him go!" The tigress quickly grabbed her sword and lunged at the soldier, a gorilla.
The tigress lunge was sloppy and easy to dodge, making it possible for the gorilla to grab her wrist with enough force to make her drop her weapon, all while still holding down the hyena.
"The hell are you doing? Why didn't you run the other way?"
"Im not leaving you behind jackass"
A couple of soldier quickly appear to help out their companion hold down their new prisoners.
It was nearly nightfall when they arrived at the camp they where originally trying to steal from. It was a soldier's camp the pair had found on their way 'home' from a hunting trip.
The plan seemed simple enough: wait for the soldier to give his back to the tent, sneak in, grab some gold, get out. What they didn't expect was a soldier in the tent getting dressed and the hyena panicking and shooting him in the foot. Once the screaming started they ran for dear life.
But alas' the blood rushing experience was for nay, for they where captured and tied to a huge boulder as the soldiers called for what the pair assumed was the man in charge.
A Lion with a different pattern in his armor compared to the rest of the soldiers approached the pair.
"Well well what do we have here" laughed the lion. "It seems karma is a bitch now ain't her?" He said looking closely at the hyena. Then moved closer to the tigress. "And what do we have here" he said sniffing the air around the tigress. "Tell me what is a beautiful woman like yourself doing with such a low life like this hyena trying to steal from other people" "Get away from her" snarled the hyena. "Your little boyfriend has guts talking to me like that" "Shes my sister you creep" The lion then punched the hyena in the gut making him cough and bleed trough his mouth.
"Sister!? Pff how does that work?" Laughed the lion. "Well then it means this pretty face is on the market" The tigress was about to make a comment when she saw a familiar face from the woods signaling her to keep quiet before disappearing. The tigress smirked "You wished pal" the lion laughed "Doesn't matter you are still gonna be mine before I make you both rot in pris-"
The lion was interrupted by the shrieking on one soldier. "What the hell?" Asked the lion and while he looked around and asked his men what was happening the tigress had already managed to slip out of her rope and was helping the hyena undo his own. "Come on we gotta go, don't worry Aleks is here" "Thank gods" said the hyena trying to stand up. "Lets get outta here, I think he's shooting arrows at the soldiers, we cant let him stay much longer so we gotta hurry"
After they where both free they ran back into the forest "We gotta help Aleks" said the hyena. "No. We need to get back home, we have no weapons, Aleks is smart, swift and sneaky, he can make it back" retorted the tigress. They ran for a few minutes until reaching a river that the pair had previously used in their hunting trips as a camping spot. The tigress though the river made the spot look strangely peaceful. "Lets wait here, Aleks will probably go trough here on his way home anyway" "Aye" answered the hyena.
The night had already creeped into the forest when they heard the leaves rustling. The tigress was the first to recognize the shadowy figure walking towards them. "Aleks! Im glad you are ok!" She walked toward him to embrace the tall, slim panther. "Yeah...Thanks for the save man" said the hyenna. "Im happy you are both alright but dammit you guys that was terrifying, any of us could have been killed, why where you both captured in the first place? I mean, fuck what would our family do without us now that dad is gone, that was the only thing going trough my head while I was playing hide and seek with a platoon of soldiers" "We are sorry but... We saw the camp and I saw one soldier had a bag of gold strapped to his waist and well..." The Tigress was explaining before being interrupted from the now furious Aleks. "You both tried to steal from armed soldiers? Are you guys serious?" He looked furious at both of them "Don't look at me like that, it was her idea" the hyena said trying to defend himself, getting a stink eye from the tigress in the process. "Jack, Milly I know we struggle a lot but putting your life in danger like that is not the solution" "Neither is just trying to hunt rabbits or whatever weak game we find in this pathetic forrest, someone back home always ends up hungry Al' its not fair, we just wanted some gold for the family alright? And now we don't even have our weapons" Jack said in a mix of anger and sadness. "Im not so sure it was for naught though..." Said the panther. "What do you mean?" Both asked at the same time as Aleks searched his bag for something. He pulled out of his bag two pouches of gold. "How did you get that?" "When I saw you both tied up all the soldiers where looking at you both all distracted from the tents and I just happened to catch a glimpsed of something shinny in the corner of my eye..." Aleks was saying looking a bit ashamed after he had just yelled at them. "... Im both angry and impressed" said the tigress while the hyena was looking dumbfounded at the pouches of gold. "After I got the gold, I tried to get your attention and shot a soldier in the kne-" the panther was saying before being interrupted by Jack. "Oi, You let me get punched in the gut you dick!" "Ouch, yeah I saw that , are you felling alri-" but got interrupted again "thanks for being so concerned, dick" Jack and Aleks noted the silence in Milly and both just looked at her as she shed a tear while smiling and gave Aleks a hug. "Thanks for the save and the gold, tomorrow we may finally get a decent meal" after that he just nodded and the three of them started their walk home. First thing sunrise they would be able to buy food for everyone.
