3. Jackie-The-Junior Evening
Well now, we get into the evening here for Jackie.
Other than that it's just a bit of plot, and world building. Some quality time between a friend turned mate and their beta. Then a nice mother to daughter talk.
Can you guess who the step-sibling is going to be?
Marked adult due obvious reasons.
- Jackie-The-Junior Evening
“I knew you'd be happy to see me, but isn't this a bit much?" Oh god. I feel like I just want to go into some corner of my room, curl up and die of sheer embarrassment. My ears fold flat as they burn and my tail curls between my legs as I move to get off of him.
Christine Yips playfully from the second floor landing and I have to stare at Patrick's face a moment to notice that he's quirked an eyebrow in puzzlement. I also notice a familiar scent coming off of him, but I don't comment on it.
“Am I, interrupting something?" Glancing in Christine's direction, then I nod at Patrick.
'She, decided to steal one of my shoes as I was changing into proper clothes. I was chasing her to get it back but..' He chuckles and smiles at me, but seems to be polite and isn't directly looking at anything but my face.
“And?" Letting out a sigh I move my arms to cover my bust, as I wasn't before. My tail's bushiness seems to be keeping the other part covered.
'And by the second lap around her bed, it was more for the fun of chasing her than getting it back.. Um..' I nod in the direction of my bedroom.
“Go ahead. I'll be in the living room, came home early to see how your first day went." Giving a toothless smile I quickly make my way up to my room, finding the shoe back where it belongs, and shut the door. Don't want a repeat here.
Dressed in some shorts and a t-shirt I plop myself down on the couch next to Patrick, then let my tail come to rest in his lap as I scoot a bit closer. He chuckles and drapes an arm over my shoulders, It's safe here in the living room as no window directly faces where the couch is.
'So you want to hear about my first day for my second time through high-school?' He nods, I let out a sigh and lower my ears a bit. I end up telling him everything.
From how different it is to be in such a social environment as a girl, to the run ins with the nut-jobs. As well as the encounter with Diane at lunch and how she and I are in Science class together. He even laughs at how I acted right before I went into the girl's locker room.
Calming down he does sigh and pull out is phone to show me something.
“That does explain this." It's a picture, of me from a distance, mid seductive walk as both human and small breed male Bio-Morph gym classes react. Both from the sidelines of the soccer game and a few players too. Sighing I lay my head back and stare at the ceiling.
'You know me Patrick, I hate being accused of something I didn't do.' He pockets the phone and then uses his hand to pet my tail. A mild chur works its way out of my mouth.
“I know, at least you didn't sucker punch him. But did you 'have' to do it 'that' way? Staying out of the spotlight is part of your job in keeping your cover here. He posted a full on anti-bio-morph rant. Bright side though, I think we've found the person who's been putting ideas in flint's head." I know, I know. I do miss being able to do that, yet the fact I could easily draw attention of so many kinda makes up for it.
'No harm no foul? I got to show some asshole up, and I gained a friend in Ms. Henderson. Considering the school's teachers and administration seems to be at war with itself. I'd say it wasn't a bad thing.' The more teachers I have on my side, the less I have to worry about what Ms. Alice pulls from day to day for my junior year.
“Yes, but your mother will most likely want to have a word with you. Your actions will affect her too, I doubt she can take losing you again." Letting out a whine then a sigh. Yea I know I'll have to face her wrath if she's angry about it.
I think she'll understand, has before with most of the times I got into trouble when I last went through high-school.
'I've just been a magnet for trouble for the past year or so, haven't I?' Patrick laughs at my statement but doesn't stop petting my tail.
“One hell of an understatement. Kidnapped, converted, forced into slavery in a brothel, hunted, shot, came close to freaking dying due to an infection. Not to mention attracting the attention of a crazy bio-morph bitch and a speciest coach." So, that 'is' a word! “Either you're venting your bad luck, or I somehow have to trick a store into buying you a lotto ticket. With your luck, you might just win the jackpot if it's the latter." Tilting my head I look at him.
'I don't think that's how it works. If it is my bad luck, it would just guarantee I'd not win.' Letting go of my tail I flop it into my lap before he pats my head.
“Well, there has to be a point that someone's luck it so bad it rolls over to being super good right?" Shrugging once, I sigh. I don't think lady luck works like an integer overflow. I point this out to him, and he just shrugs in response, moving to lean against him some more, having more of my body touch his. Silence fills the room for several minutes only to be broken by a sigh.
“There's one other thing I also wanted to know. Your mom, my parents, and I have been wondering. Well, while you were being taught to speak you went out of your way to act like you normally did before. Same attitude, same moods and such, considering.." I know exactly where this is going and tighten my grip on his arm.
He takes the hint and stops speaking, letting me compose my thoughts.
'I didn't want to worry any of you. Mom talked about what she saw with some Bio-Morphs the center she works at, the mental breakdowns, etc. After seeing what my kidnapping and what they changed me into has done to her, I wanted to spare her the rest.' I let go of his arm and start petting my own tail while my ears droop to the sides.
'There are nights I have nightmares, where I find myself back at Mauri's. One has Christopher, the son of the family that owned the place and co-owner, beating me for 'running away'. Another is what would've happened if Alpha didn't stop sixteen. Feeling him forcefully fucking me while my mind goes from revulsion to wanting it as his 'alpha female', I normally wake up at that point confused and..' I pause and look at him, his face reddens in a blush. Yea, no need to guess what your thinking. It is exactly what you think.
'The only other I have is where I'm molested by a faceless human guy's in one of Marui's private dining rooms. I try to keep quiet as I recover from them, change my sheets if needed. Sometimes Christine has to help me calm down.' I look away from him only to feel him gently pull me into a hug, one I readily return.
“You spent nearly six months as a pleasure slave to a borderline brothel. You would have to be a sociopath to not have it impact you in some way. It is a good thing that Christine knows about the nightmares, but your mother needs to know too. She's been wondering if you're going to just up and crack one day. Do they happen every night?" Looking up at him while my ears move up and down as I think over the answer.
'Not every night. Two or three times a week maybe. Christine has some too, she says she just likes sleeping with me, but I think it's to keep them at bay. I don't blame her as mine seem to happen when I have to sleep alone rather than curled up around her.' Patrick smiles and nods, but doesn't make any motion to dislodge me, not that I'd let him.
“Tell that to your mother, I'll talk to my parents. None of us are Psychologists, but we have access to some. We'll ask if this is something we can handle here or if we'll 'have' to get you to see one." Sighing with a nod I look up at his face, for the umpteenth time today alone I wish that reading faces came as easy as it did before.
“No it doesn't make me think any less of you Jackie." Patrick smiles at me and as if he could read my mind. That was going to be my next question. Smiling back, I indulge on the urge to give him a kiss. His words strike something deep in me that is new but not unpleasant, I also realize their might be some deeper connection going on here.
The wagging of my tail and the chirp of hello from Christine more or less signals the end of the conversation. She's of course wearing that purple t-shirt with the word 'vixen' in glitter again, the one I gave to her. The only other thing she has on is a pair of shorts that looks exactly like mine. I pat the space next to me opposite of Patrick on the couch.
Christine grins and hops onto the couch to lay across both of us, Patrick laughs and I roll my eyes. He just pats Christine's head before he picks up the remote for the television.
Leaning against Patrick as he surfs the channels on the tv, eventually all three of us decide on something to watch. So we just, kinda veg out watching it.
It's some old movie made in the nineteen eighties, over sixty years ago. Couldn't care any less about what it was over, I just enjoyed being with Patrick , even if it is with Christine.
Christine's then my ears perk and swivel in the direction of the front door as it opens a bit before the climax of the movie, she sits up and I straighten up rather than lean against Patrick's arm. No need to guess who it is, we can tell by the scent of grass and body-odor.
Flint walks past wearing an American style football uniform. Glaring at us as he walks by, towards the stairs he lets out a disgusted snort in our direction, Patrick just sighs.
'I would like to see you in a pair of those shorts Patrick.' In response Patrick boops my nose, causing me to go cross-eyed. Christine giggle yips at this.
“Maybe." He says with a smile. Our ears are glued in the direction of the stairs as we hear Flint coming back down the stairs. He stops in front of the living room.
“Just keep your 'toys' out of the kitchen, I don't want fur in my food." Flint near growls, for a human that is, then heads to the kitchen. The sounds of him preparing something to eat fills the living room Patrick leans down to me.
“Try to stay out of his way from now on. I would say just stay in your room or Christine's till either I or your mother and my parents come home, but that would feel like punishing you for his idiocy." Nodding once I try to go back to relaxing with him, the last part of the movie helps in that regard and my tail finds it's way back into his lap as I lean against Patrick.
He idly pets it while I idly pet Christine's head as she leans against me, it is also about that time that I feel some tight twinges from my injured leg, which turn in some aches and a bit of pain. Yea, shouldn't have chased Christine.
“You 'do' know she was outright flirting with the 'entire' male junior gym class of that period right? Keep in mind I won't say I told you so if you find her sucking their dicks later." Flint's voice cuts through the ending of the movie as he walks by again.
Instantly my arms grab a hold of Christine's shoulders to prevent her from launching herself from the couch at Flint.
'Don't insult my Alpha!' Christine growls at Flint, but otherwise doesn't try to break my hold of her. I can feel Patrick tense a bit as he glares back at his brother.
Obviously, Flint won't believe what actually happened. I also feel that if this continues it may come to blows between the two of them and that for some strange reason, makes me feel shameful. So I guess the only way to defuse the situation right now is for me and sis to leave the room.
My injured leg doesn't accept my full weight as I stand, causing me to shift more to the other one while not giving Flint the satisfaction of seeing me yelp. Christine is instantly on her feet upon noticing this, is at my side, Patrick nearly joins her in helping me but I give him a smile knowing he's got to take care of his brother.
'I think it's about time sis and I go do our homework.' With Christine's help I head for the stairs, as we pass by Flint I can't help it that my tail lashes about angrily with a barely suppressed growl. Christine just full on growls at him, and I don't try to stop her either. Once past him, we don't look back as Christine helps me up the stairs and to my room.
I hobble to the chair in front of my computer once inside while Christine grabs her tablet from her room. She hops onto my bed and lays down on her belly facing me as I sigh. My ears droop, tail goes limp and I lean forward to put my muzzle in my hands as my elbows rest on my knees.
I thought I had a bit better control of my emotions, and yet I did nothing to stop my actions. Why should I feel shame for it? Flint acts like an asshole and deserves to be treated as such, yet I don't want Patrick and him to go to blows.
Add to that how I now feel about Patrick and well, now I kind of understand those boring ass old stories where the love interest messes up old friendships. It doesn't make me feel good that I'm now doing that between Patrick and his brother.
'I'm sorry alph- I mean sis. When Flint insulted you, I couldn't help it.' Christine notices my mood and pulls herself up, then off my bed to come up behind me and give me a hug as I sit in the chair.
'Why do you look so down?' She places her chin on my shoulder.
'I'm.. Conflicted. I thought I had better control of myself then this. I can understand the anger I feel, Flint infuriates me due to his views, how he insists I want to jump anything with a dick. I also feel shame, because I'm the cause of a conflict between Patrick and his brother, while they've not always seen eye to eye, they're normally closer than this. I fear my simple presence with one cause one of them to attack the other, and after growing up with them it breaks my heart a bit to know that.' Christine stands, then walks around to face me directly and kneels, so we're eye to eye, muzzle to muzzle. Her face the definition of concentration.
'Well, let me say this first to quiet them down. I'm having to fight my instincts and this disorder to not tell you to fully defend your mate and our Alpha male.' She pauses for a few breaths, her facial features relax.
'You were not born female, you were just handed, well forced to have, a beautiful female body. Last time I was this age I had already learned what you're going through now, just not in degree. Your simple presence will cause attraction and division without you even doing a single thing. Casual friends may want to be around you more and get closer, close friends will suddenly find many things they don't like about you and push you away. What hurts the most is that it is all without your input and because of that, you can do nothing but make it worse by trying to stop it.' I stare into Christine's eyes as she speaks.
This isn't the part of 'Christine' I've gotten accustomed too, that I've accepted and love as a sister now since we escaped together. This is Ashley speaking. The person she was before being converted, before that thing that Christopher did to her to shatter her.
'If you want my advice Jackie, sis, my Alpha female. Hate Flint's actions, not the person himself since you were friends with him back before you were converted?' I nod once at this, she continues. 'Also don't push Patrick away like this by removing yourself from the situation, it only hurts you both and feeds what ever has crawled up your former friend's ass to make him act this way. Do not let his actions dictate something that makes you happy.' With a smile, followed by her rubbing her muzzle under mine, she goes back to the bed and lies on her belly, with a pillow under her stomach that I just now noticed.
Mulling this over in my mind I eventually follow her, and find out the reason she has a pillow there, well more like it's caused by two reasons, needless to say she hands me the other pillow with a giggling yip and I find how she's laying quite comfortable.
As we tap away on our tablets, working on our home work there's a question I want to ask her.
'Were you, as well-endowed as you are now back when you were human?' Christine stops tapping on her tablet and turns her head to look at me.
'No. I gained several cup sizes and a more shapely ass. The only reason why I earned money as a prostitute in the camp was the population at it was overwhelmingly male, guys couldn't be choosy if they wanted to wet their dick in a vag. Even then I was still better looking than my mother who was almost flat as a board on both ends.' Christine sighs. 'If I'm being honest with myself, I was also envious of the other women, many were better looking than I was back then.' Nodding once my mind drifts a bit as I finish up what little homework I have left.
The feeling I had back on the train, when that guy gave up his seat for that one human women. That's what Christine felt towards other women? What's novel about it to me is that I felt it simply at seeing a person. Jealousy wasn't so, potent before, at least from what I can remember. Not liking where this train of thought is heading I try to push it out of my mind as I shut off the tablet.
'So, what should we do now?' Looking over to Christine, she shrugs, so I get off the bed, spin the chair around, sit down and start up my computer before logging in. Figuring I can just idle the time away further exploring the wonders of this uncensored internet.
'You know, you would've been seen as such a tomboy at my last high school, drawing the ire of the teachers and dorm mistresses.' Swiveling the chair around to face her I look at her with my head tilted to the side. A body language clue that I noticed I picked up without noticing at first.
'What to do mean by that? Nothing would've been wrong with it I would think?' Christine giggle yips. Sitting up she moves her tablet and the pillow she was using to the side. Scooting to the edge of the bed she sits there, back arched, legs from the knee up to her crotch fully together. Knees bent so that her lower legs are angled compared to the upper legs.
Her arms are completely against her side, shoulders slightly back, with her hands folded in her in her lap. Looking directly at me with her ears facing forward and vulpine grin on her face while her tail swishes back and forth.
'This is more or less how you would've been expected to sit, all, the, time there. If you were of course born female and your family was rich enough to attend. Yes, it's as uncomfortable as it looks. Skirts were mandatory, pants were considered unladylike.' Her face scrunches then she quickly slumps into a more 'casual posture'. 'Bigger boobs and a tail makes it hurt more..' Can't help it, I let out a loud yipping giggle at this, earning me a pillow to the head. I toss it back.
'Even in your dorm room?' Christine makes another yipping laugh.
' 'E_specially_' in your dorm room. If your roommate didn't tattle on you, the random checks by the dorm mistress would catch you. Half of the school's curriculum, other than making sure we had an equivalent education to any guy, was to instill 'desirable' traits for our future husbands. Either ones we catch or our parents arrange for them.' I just stare at her. I've heard of that, but only in nearly century old media about the nineteen-fifties and the like.
'Sounds like a throwback to about a century ago.' Christine shrugs.
'It was the 'in' thing at that time, just with a modern flair. We could show quite a bit of cleavage, skirts while mandatory, were knee-length at most. Anything shorter than shoulder-length hair was completely taboo.' Shrugging, not like I was expecting ye-old time floor length skirts and such.
Swiveling the chair back around, so I can see the monitor and read one of the websites I have up.
'So they were, moral busybody's eh?' I hear Christine loudly snort.
'Of course, the wealthy and powerful needed to give off an air of sophistication, show their restraint compared to their grandparents hedonism. Even my family, which was on the low end of the scale. It was annoying as hell and did nothing but make the rest of the school harder as we had to cram that all in.' Christine pauses.
'With your permission, Alp- I mean sis. If I ever by chance see my father again, allow me to at least maul him a little for all the trouble he caused me, shipping me off to that place to be a 'proper lady.'' I can understand where she's coming from, but not how she wants to resolve it, considering she's already killed a person doing that. Not that I blame her for it.
'We'll see.' To be honest, at least she had a father in her life. Mine abandoned mom and me as soon as mom lost her arm. She should count herself as lucky for that.
'What about your mother Christine?' She snorts again, then laughs with a loud thump as her tail slams against my bed.
'It was revenge enough when I hit puberty that I started to grow bigger breasts and a rounder ass than she had, when she was around long enough to see me that is. I doubt by that time she even would've remembered she actually got pregnant and gave birth to me, so caught up in social politics among the elite circles as she was.' Christine sighs as I ear-splay, even with only growing up with mom, and poor to boot. I had a better childhood than her. Mom at least paid attention to me.
'If you had the chance to see them, would you?' Hearing Christine move a bit and then go quiet prompts me to swivel around to face her. My question seems to have hit her hard.
Feet flat on the floor, as much as one can with digitigrade feet, elbows on her knees and head in her hands she has her ears pinned back but her tail is still. The silence in the room is thick as I wait.
'Even if I wanted too, I can't. Going back to the states like this would get me put back into slavery. In turn neither of them would want to be seen in a free country such as this, it would cost dad's political career and mom's social standing. Both are more valuable than their own flesh and blood. I kinda envy you though, your mom, I guess our mom now, is a great person. Lucky to have had her growing up.' Neither her tail nor ears move as she speaks.
'We have one thing in common, both our dads are bastards. Mine ditched mom as soon as she lost her arm, then her job. He would never recognize me as I am now, but if I ever find him I'm going to give him a piece of my mind.' I pause for a moment. 'Maybe a bite or two as well.' Stating flatly I let my tail whip about and my ears fold back.
To be honest though, I don't know what hurts worse. The fact he ditched mom, or the fact he ditched her 'and' me. His own son, I guess daughter now, still..
'You'd have to somehow convince him it's you though sis. It will look like some random Bio-morph lady angrily going after him verbally otherwise.' This makes my tail stop dead in its tracks, Christine has a good point.
I'd first have to somehow hold my anger back long enough to show him the proof used to convince Mom of who I am, then verbally maul him out for leaving his son, who thought the world of him like that.
What I was about to say dies in my throat as the sound of the front door of the house opens and the sound of several people entering filters it's way up here. Both Christine's and my ears are up, and facing the direction of my bedroom door.
'Looks like Mom and Patrick's parents are back.' Minimizing the browser and locking the computer I stand, my injured leg only giving a mild twinge compared to earlier. Christine stands as well, she follows me out of my room and downstairs to greet them. Passing by the living room shows Patrick still sitting on the couch while Flint is sitting on the armchair.
“Hey!" Mom walks up and hugs Christine and I. “Did my two daughters enjoy their first day back at school? Make any new friends? Find any guys?" I can tell Mom is teasing on the last part, but I still ear-blush and whine. She giggles in response knowing she got to me.
'Alright I guess. More than a bit boring in some places considering I already know the material.' Christine nods as I talk, mom continues to smile. Patrick's parent's walk past us and recruit Patrick and flint to go empty the car of groceries, Patrick gladly accepts and gives me a smile as he passes by. Flint just glares at us.
Wow, does it really take this much food to feed seven people? How much are they spending for food? I can't help feel a bit guilty I can't contribute anymore.
“Understandable honey, just bare with it. Only two years and you can continue where you were denied before. If you want to that is, after all, you're a different person now." Mom smiles and fusses over our fur and clothes till the others finish bringing everything inside. It's a little embarrassing for me, and it shows, but Christine seems to be eating the attention up.
Knowing why though makes me a bit sad. Mom clapping her hands together once draw my attention back to her.
“Okay, Jackie. You're coming with me. Christine, Patrick, Flint, Dinner will be ready in about forty-five minutes." Tilting my head a bit, I have to wonder. Other than talking about what happened today, which she can do right here since everyone knows. Why do I have to go with her? Patrick and Flint join their parents in the living room.
Mom gently takes my hand and leads me into the kitchen, while Christine heads back upstairs. Mom doesn't say anything other than telling me what grocery items go where, and, which ones to leave out when we enter the kitchen, wait..
“Jack.. Jackie, honey. There are a few things I want to talk to you about." Mom walks up to me and gently embraces me. That warm scent that I now associate with her, with Mom, and home fills my nose. This has been new for the past month, mom has been a bit more physical with her affection.
Not that she didn't show that she loved me before. But I wasn't hugged as much, definitely wasn't petted. Gives me a kind of nice feeling, but it's strange. Not what I'm used too.
“Firstly. I did hear what you did in gym today." I let out a whine and my ears start burning. I know she did, and this is what I was dreading. What she's going to say about it. Mom for her part starts giggling, only to continue when things calm down.
“I'm not angry Jackie. I know the part of you that's the son I raised 'hates' being falsely accused. God you drove me up the wall last time you were in High School getting into fights to prove your innocence. I'd be lying if I wasn't expecting you to do that again, what surprised me was for you to pull a stunt like that considering. Well considering this was forced upon you, you were molested, then nearly raped." Mom breaks the embrace, but has her prosthetic hand on my shoulder while her normal one cups my muzzle gently.
“For you to embrace, then use what you are now in such a manner to me tells me that my son, my daughter, is coping and adapting well. I've been worried about that to be honest. You've shown no signs of what you went through affecting you other than the obvious changes that you have to do because of what you are now. I mean, well, your first day here, with Patrick had me hoping, but some Bio-morphs I've seen where I work have done the same." Letting go of me mom moves to lean against the counter, silently I join her.
“ Oh I was changed into a guy or girl, so that means I must do this, this, and that. And I'm also a cat, dog, wolf, etc, so I have to act like this too!" Talking in a different tone of voice, not a mocking one, but one to show she's talking about someone or anyone in general.
“From what I understand from the doctors. This is a coping mechanism, what happened to them was so traumatizing they embrace stereotypes and act on them to cope. I had worried that since they made you into this, that the event that day was just something you thought you had to do, not that you wanted it. What you did today though helps me see that those worries were unfounded." Ears and tail droop. I was worried about scaring mom, and Patrick by telling them, instead I've worried them more.
'Mom.' I sigh. 'I've been doing okay, but not too well. Nightmares mostly, two, maybe three times a week. They're.. Horrible, vivid. Lucid even, but not in my control. I'm either being beaten by the son of the bastard who owns that restaurant, yelling he'll train and break me, so I would never run away again. Or I'm in one of the private dining rooms, alone with a bunch of middle-aged faceless men, dressed in that stupid fake kimono as they take turns groping and molesting me while I serve them food and alcohol.' With another sigh I bring my tail around to wrap along my waist covering 'that' part of me.
This doesn't escape mom's notice and I feel her normal hand on my shoulder, the slight squeeze urges me to continue.
'The one that's the worst. The one that scares me the most and leaves me so..' I look down at the floor. 'Horny and wet for some perverse reason when I wake up. Is that I'm back in my container, trying to escape Sixteen from raping me, failing, only no Alpha to barge in and stop the situation. I feel him pin me to the floor, lock his jaws on the scruff of my neck, paralyzing me. Pushing my tail to the side, then entering. I can hear myself calling his name after a bit and then I wake up right before..' The shoulder grip turns to a full on hug, one arm drawing me close by wrapping around my mid back.
Her other one petting the back of my head as she shushes me. Letting out a whine I lean into her while she does this for several minutes. I smell salt, she's crying, I realize I'm crying too, don't know when I started, but I can't stop it till after she does. Mom lets go, then gently cups my muzzle again.
“Nightmares, I think are to be expected, I'd hate to say normal, but I would be worried sick if you didn't have them. Don't know what we can do about them other than being here for you. Does having Christine sleep with you help?" Should I tell her Christine has nightmares too? No, one thing at a time, if she asks I'll tell.
'For all but that last one.' Giving me a gentle smile mom wipes her tears, then mine.
“I know this, must be still new even though you accept it as who you are. So can I ask you a personal question?" I give her a wordless nod.
“Fingers, are not enough anymore after you and Patrick did it that afternoon, am I right?" I stare at her, stunned. For a moment I have to wonder 'why' she's bringing up masturbation after that. Only to remember how hard it is to get back to sleep after that nightmare.
Turns out women get a version of blue-balls too, and it's worse when what you have on hand, can't scratch that itch. My only answer is a small nod as I feel my ears turn scarlet red. Mom only smiles, that warm smile that speaks understanding.
“I can't help against the nightmares, if they get worse I'll try to find someone who can. What I can help you with is to get you something to allow yourself some relief. I was wondering why every few days a week you were dragging like you didn't get much sleep. So tell you what, tonight, after everyone else is in bed, you and I can sit down in front of my laptop, and I'll order for you a toy so you can scratch that itch. I know it's embarrassing, and I won't lie that I'm enjoying it as my mother must have as we had a talk about toys. But, this is needed."
Yea this is just like the last time I had 'the talk' embarrassing as hell, I remember mom being just about as embarrassed as I had been hearing all that from her.
'If it means I can sleep..' Mom smiles and pats my shoulder again.
“It should, won't be as good as feeling a real one, but better than fingers." Sigh, my ears are going to be stuck being red aren't they? Mom just grins, then starts opening up the stuff we didn't put away.
“One of the other reasons why I want you in here right now is. Well, I don't want any self-respecting daughter of mine in a relationship and not know how to feed her man or even herself. So starting today, till I'm satisfied you're good enough, I'm teaching you how to cook." I stare at her, just stare at her.
'I don't need to know how to cook. Food pre-prepared can be bought at a reasonable price, also you know Patrick as well as you know me. He doesn't care to cook either.' I get a gentle boop on my nose for this, causing me to go cross-eyed as mom cleans her hands.
“This is nonnegotiable honey. You're going to have to learn to do it anyway due to situations like right now, cooking is the only way we can afford to feed two growing teenage girls, a teenage boy, and three adults as well as we can right now." When mom says that, I've learned that it is pointless to argue otherwise, so while letting out a sigh I move to stand next to her and watch.
Seeing this she sets up a work-space next to hers and starts guiding me step by step in preparing tonight's dinner. A chicken stew with homemade bread rolls.
'For the bread rolls, is it the same reason as the stew? Aren't the store ones less than a couple dollars?' Mom smiles and shakes her head.
“No, that's different. You've already learned that most of the genome for bio-morphs are locked behind stupid patent laws and stuff, apparently some are allergic to certain strains of wheat so.." My eyes go wide and nod once. I know food allergies are no joke, I'm going to have to be careful from now on I guess.
Silence and the noises of the living room, the noises of Patrick, his parent's, and flint talking over the television fills the room, my tail gently flicks back and forth as I let my ears swivel and focus on them while I chop vegetables with dis-interest.
Something though seems to be in the air, a tension, and I think it's coming from Mom. A tension I can smell oddly enough, I mean I know since I was converted smell has become as important as sight. But, I've only had this nose for a little over a year, it's new. Mom lets out a sigh and puts down the knife she was using to slice up chicken breast, then motions for me to put down mine.
“The final thing I wanted to talk to you about was.." There's her tell, she's nervous about something, so she rubs the attachment point of her prosthetic arm and her shoulder. I let her find the words, least I can do after telling her what's been going on.
“While we were being checked out at the supermarket, the Tanners and I ran into your father, my ex. Well, not so much as run into, more like he saw us. He dismissed the teenage cashier and checked us out himself, even gave us a discount. Then personally helped us take them to the car." I'm glad I'm no longer holding the knife, using it as that bomb was dropped I would've of hurt myself.
“The first words out of his mouth were 'I'm Sorry'. I've forgiven him years ago, but I've not forgotten the pain he caused me or you." I've not forgotten that pain either Mom.
I remember their last fight. The fights that started after mother was injured. After the company she worked for let her go, after the government made it legal to fire those with injuries just because they were injured.
They thought I was asleep, no I heard it all. Most of all I heard him leaving, slamming the door as he left.
“Turns out, he moved up here, cashing in his half of our finances and used it to buyout a struggling grocery store. He's built it up and made a successful regional chain out of it. He was only at that store for an employee dispute and on his way out for the day when he spotted us." My ears go flat back, tail lashes about. Both seemingly unnoticed by Mom.
Other than the fight the memory of us only packing up our clothes and what personal items we could fit in those few suitcases is the strongest. Mom said we couldn't stay at home anymore, but didn't say why. Said we had to move somewhere, but couldn't take much with us.
She was crying as we rode the cab to the retrofitted hotel that was the jobless center. The new welfare system for the states, where those that can't work have a simple roof over their head, two meals a day and nothing else.
Being the naive kid I was, I thought it was some trip. I was the one crying two days later when it sank in, this will be my home now.
“Then he asked the one question I had hoped he wouldn't. 'Where's Jack, how is he doing?' I had no choice, I had to lie and tell him what I thought till Patrick found you. That you went off, and committed suicide somewhere." I feel the claws on my feet try to dig into the tile, the ones on my fingers have better luck etching grooves in the cutting board. I want to yell at Mom, tell her why she didn't punch his lights out right then and there for daring to show his face to her. For daring to ask about me when he so blatantly didn't CARE!
“It was instantaneous, those words made him look like I had punched him in the gut. I could tell he was trying to ask for forgiveness and to be honest, I felt bad at how much it hurt him. I wanted to say, it was a lie, tell him what actually happened. Except that doing that puts you at risk for being thrown back to the states as a slave. I also knew that we didn't know if we could trust him with that information, I may have forgiven him, but that doesn't mean I'd value him over you." Right now, his value is pretty damn low! Mom sighs as I continue to dig grooves into the wood cutting board.
Oh what do I have planed when I see him. I have one hell of a piece of mind to lay on him for abandoning me and mom to that place. Not having a father is, painful. It leaves a hole that is hard to fill. Mr Tanner, Patrick's dad tried to informally fill that hole, but since family's couldn't co-habitat the same units. It was little help.
“After I mentioned our 'cover story' that I had moved up here, adopted two Bio-Morph kit sisters. He wanted to have a family to family dinner, he remarried, to an arctic fox breed Bio-morph and hybrid cub! I was surprised at this, the rants he did in the last couple fights between us and all that. It gave me the impression he hated them. He wanted to do it at some fancy restaurant, I refused. He then offered a home cooked meal, I agreed on one condition. It will be here, this Saturday." He abandoned us, abandoned mom for a bio-morph. Abandoned me for one too.
Strange, logically this should be the worst part, but as I continue to make long gashes in the cutting board, and considering what I am now, I can't summon any more anger other than he replaced us. A year ago it would've been different, the bio-morph part would be the worst part. Still, the white-hot rage finally makes me start to growl, deeply, loudly.
Mom hits my nose, sharply, like you would a dog that's misbehaving. My tail hasn't stopped thrashing about, but it has forced me to raise my ears and notice the damage I've done to the cutting board.
I stare at her, gripping my nose. It wasn't hard enough to cause it to bleed, or welt, but enough to send a jolt of pain to break that mental rampage.
“I know full well how you feel Jackie, but that's no excuse to growl in the house nor damage my cookware." She removes the vegetables from it, the knife, cleans the opposite surface, then places it damaged side down before putting everything back.
“I know this will be difficult to ask of you, but it has to be done. You are going to have to, like it or not, in the next week come to terms with your anger at him, enough at least that he can't think it's you. Jack is dead as far as he knows, and if finds out otherwise YOU could become a slave again with a much lower chance of being able to escape. If you can't or are unwilling, I'll have to find some way to keep you out of the house till he's gone. I won't risk losing you again. Also, if it's because you're unwilling to simmer down, I'll ground you for the rest of the semester 'without' your computer." You're already pulling the mom card on me mom?
I've only half-way moved my ears tilted back, aggressively at this, at her, when she bops my nose again with her hand. My ears shoot straight up, tail goes rigid. The first one was only getting my attention, a deep part of me screams this was a disciplinary action from a higher pack member.
“Jackie Strader, you will 'not' take an aggressive posture with me young lady. The arrangement has already been made, deal with it or I'll keep my promise in punishing you." Mom fills the Alpha female role in my life, I realized that a while ago. Now I have a taste of what it's like to be lower on this social totem pole that is a Bio-Morph social structure, even though she's human, like I was.
My posture melts to a submissive one, tail between the legs, ears drooping to the side, I try to make myself smaller and less threatening. Mom closes the two-foot gap between us and I slightly move my head to the side the bare my neck.
A Bio-morph would use their jaw's, mom uses her prosthetic hand. I can feel the metal bits of it through fake skin on it as she grasps my neck firmly but not painfully. With it she guides me down so my muzzle ends up under her smaller human chin, I know this posture, and I do what Christine does to me. I rub my head back up at her.
“Jackie, honey. It's for the best if you can settle your anger at him. You have to forgive him for what he did, you don't have to forget it though. We all make mistakes, some bigger than others. I think, he's genuinely trying to make up for it. But, until we can trust him. You have to play the part of the Jackie Strader that I supposedly adopted with her sister Christine. Not the Jackie Strader that was Jack Strader, kidnapped, converted, and sold into slavery." I'm still angry, I still have angry thoughts about him and this situation, but I don't feel it oddly.
All I feel is the satisfaction, the dopamine hit of submitting to my mother, who's 'my' Alpha female. I let out a single whine and Mom lets go, slowly I stand back up, uncurl my tail and notice my posture more or less returns to normal.
'He hurt us bad, mom.' I say quietly as I resume my spot in helping her cook, she starts cutting up the chicken again.
“I know. I know you heard our fights. Really, who could sleep through that?! I know it was hell for you at school due to where we had to live because he left. That's all in the past now, what you have to do is move on now that you can. All those years I was raising you as you struggled through school and then struggled for money you had no time to do so. I had all the time I needed to sort through the pieces and rebuild myself. I'm not asking you to arrive where I'm at in a week, what I want is for my son, my daughter now, to come to terms with this to the point she won't lunge for her father's throat. Literally, with teeth bared the second she sees him." Okay, I can see how that would be a bad thing, despite how satisfying I thought it would be just a moment ago.
I finish up cutting the vegetables, dump them into a pot and look at Mom.
'Wait, that would make my 'step-sibling' around my age, well my 'current' age. So why didn't any of the teachers at school notice that someone else is named Strader?' Mom dumps the chicken in and I have to help her move the whole thing to the stove.
“That's because.. After the separation, I went back to my maiden name. I know what you're thinking honey, I do not want you to go search them out at school. So I won't tell you who they are, you'll find out on Saturday." I wince, how do moms know these things?
All I was planning on doing was finding him, or her. Get a little more information about 'dad', and see for myself if he's changed.
Another round of silence fills the kitchen, as the stew cooks, mom shows me how to make bread rolls. With the rolls in the oven, there's nothing to do to ignore the silence between us. She steps over to me, then gently pulls me into a hug and pets my head again, after a few minutes I lean into these. Making eye contact as she lets go she gives me that loving smile, I return it.
“I'm a bit curious though about one thing." Tilting my head at this I move to lean against the counter again.
“How many of them did you find cute?" I do a double take at this. With the dad bombshell, and the fact I shared those nightmares with her, she's asking this? Sighing once I look at the floor, she may just be trying to change the topic to ease things. Make me feel better, or get my mind off of dad.
'Okay.. I'll admit, they were eye-candy. The toned chests, cute butts. Oddly, while I found them attractive to look at. They weren't.. Well attractive in attractiveness. I was only wondering how would Patrick look wearing those uniforms and..' To my surprise, mom doesn't laugh or giggle. She does have a normal smile on her face.
“A little eye-candy never hurt anyone. As long as you remember who has your heart in his hands, and I think I can pretty much guess who that is, and to the point that I don't think you'd do anything to hurt him willingly or on purpose. I know, since your a Bio-morph, mating and attachment is, different. I guess if humans were more like that we wouldn't have had that conversation a few minutes ago. Patrick is human though, you're not anymore, that anger you showed? I'd hate to see you aim it at him if you think he may stray, even if it is on accident." Drooping my ears I nod, with a clear head now I realize just how much anger boiled out of me.
I was consumed by it and didn't realize it. Was that from all the years I had to keep it in check over everything I went through? Mom leans against the counter next to me as we wait for the food to cook, her normal hand finds mine and takes a hold of it.
“You know, if you want to ask anything. Well, anything about that kind of thing, I'm willing to answer as best that I can. You already know all the basics, can't say much about specifics considering everything, but I'm willing to listen and give advice." I can feel my ears warm up a bit as I look at mom, then the floor. God this is awkward, the only questions I have are ones I'm pretty sure she doesn't have an answer to considering mom's human, I'm pretty sure they were Bio-morph instincts.
Or lupine ones expressing themselves because I am now mostly lupine despite looking like a platinum gray fox. Looking at Mom, I sigh, why the hell not. Told her most everything else I've been keeping secret since reuniting with her.
'Is it normal, um.. As far as you know considering what I am.. That while I was.' I ear-blush deeply. 'Climaxing around him, that I both thought of Patrick as my mate, my Alpha male, and I felt. Sad for some reason that I wasn't in 'season' to give him strong cubs, if only for a moment?' I expect a giggle, or a chuckle, At least a blush and an awkward look away.
No, Mom has that loving face and smile. Her hand squeezes mine once.
“Surprisingly I can answer that. Not from personal experience, but from job experience, talking with the doctors and shrinks. Being an Alpha means the person you fall for and then if you so choose to have sex with, becomes your Alpha male in this case. The rest is speculation because of damn patent law, but, the other part. That's lupine instinct. If you were a feral wolf, your role in the Alpha coupling would be to bare strong cubs to continue the Alpha male's line. You're not in season till the fall, and Patrick being human might very well be completely incompatible." Mom looks in the direction of the living room and Patrick, so do I, even though we can't see through the wall.
“That instinct will speak up like that, I guess, but I'm not sure, most of the time you have sex with him because of that. All I can say is don't listen to it, kids are a joy and a pain, but are not crucial to a strong relationship. Right now you need to focus on how to keep that relationship strong as it can't be known outside of this house for another two years, until your physically legal so to speak." Yea the whole, I'm sixteen, I'm a minor now, and Patrick technically committed a crime.
Even though mentally I'm about Patrick's age and if it wasn't for having my age reduced while being converted, I'd be completely legal. Looking back over at Mom I give her a genuine smile, and she returns it. Of course the buzzers for the stew and the rolls have to go off then, when I least expect it. Causing me to yip, and bottle brush my tail so much Mom goes into a giggling fit at the sight of it.
