I saw him that day in his stable wild and fearless,
I hushed him, fed him and he purred;
put his muzzle to my chest and that's that.
6 months later...
I sit atop him now, holding these beautiful bright red reigns in hand;
as his friend Tom Smith gives me the rundown
"How far?." I ask "Until he stops," Smith replies
and with that Tom smacks his rear and we're off,
his breath is shallow and heavy, his legs pump harder,heart pumps faster.
I feel his muscles beneath me, in the saddle I shake "Come on! pops," I shout
he charges faster "whoa, Blake slow down!," I shout "No! not now, I'm in the zone,"
"OK, my boyfriends awesome," I say "Thank... you," Blake heevs.
Blake surges on running "If you can break 2:40, I'll buy you a beer," I say "And a night of love making,"
next time we pass Tom I ask him "time!", to which he replies "1:27 and 3/5ths,"
"Guess, I get a beer," Blake says.
"That you do hun that you do," I sigh
"You know the Man O War is two weeks away you can enter ol' shits n' gets,"
Tom says "Nah," I say "He'll beat every-one ,"
"Is that right?," an older gentlemen asks "He couldn't beat the finest throbread in a pissin contest,"
"Besides, he ain't allowed to race,"
"We'll see," I scoff.
