A Dragon's Oath

Don't know why I wrote this. Usually I'm not the one who likes poems that much but it turned out to be quite good (at least I think so). Let me know if I'm right...
I was born human as normal as anyone could be:
Tall, blond hair and eyes as blue as the sea.
One day my life changed more than a bit;
I've got a great present and became misfit.
My present was the power to become a dragon at will -
a giant lizard with wings, talons, scales and a tail.
I used my power to improve the world but people did missunderstood;
anger and fear incited them to hunt me for their good.
I learned my lesson as they nearly killed me.
Now I hide in the shadows but I still fight knightly!
As long as I live I’ll be a dragon and I might be hunted forever;
after all I swear to protect the innocent and defend the helpless, ever!
