This is another long time coming piece XD

Took me waaaay to long to finally finish this one. I got more planned for Sh'osi and her crew though!

Oh and as an addition I have another Star Trek Captain that is getting some stories and art done of him. He's an older more experienced individual (Yes also Caitian lol), but also a helluva lot more baggage too.

Anywho's hoping you all enjoy this one!

Comments and Questions are welcome!

Stardate: 89377.79 [May 18, 2412 6:30 AM Vulcan Sector]

Captain’s Log Stardate 89377.79 _: “We are currently en-route back to_ Earth Space Dock _ after a month of patrolling in the Azure Sector near the Dyson Sphere Gateway. These four years have been… just so chaotic. Sometimes I can’t even believe we survived everything_ that’s been thrown at us. The U.S.S. Grove _ is just a training vessel! We shouldn’t have been on the front lines of so many battles…so many ships and lives were lost. First the Undine, then the Vaadwaur, and just when we all thought it was over the Iconians_!_ This month-long patrol was a paradise in comparison to the last four years. Admiral Quinn called as we were returning to Earth Space Dock, he said that we were all being put on shore leave the moment we docked. And most if not all of us would be reassigned afterwards. The_ Grove _ is going to be refitted, and put back into service as a training vessel again. I couldn’t be more relieved to not be stuck on this ship. But at the same time…this ship holds a lot of memories. Some good, some bad, some_ horrible …but I don’t think I’d change any of that. It helped me become a better Captain, a better person. I hope I can live up to the position in the future, wherever my travels take me.

9 Hours Later… Earth Space Dock

The small Type 6 Shuttle craft zipped through the vacuum of space, passing many berths in orbit. Starships in various stages of construction or repair housed within them. Inside the cramped craft were two women. In the navigator’s seat was tall (just barely over 2 meters), athletic woman. She was covered head to toe in short light golden fur. She had feline features, almost resembling a cougar, pointed ears and thick mane of hair on her head, and a long-tufted tail. A Caitian female through and through. She was dressed in a simple tan and white robe with soft blue highlights. The other woman in the pilot’s seat was shorter than her friend (around 1.6 meters), with fair smooth skin and bright red shoulder length hair. And as human as could be. She was in a simple gray shirt and matching pants, a pleased grin on her face.

“What are we doing again Elisa?” Asked the woman in the navigator’s seat, a bit of a guttural purr in her voice.

Her tail was twitching a bit with irritation as she waited for an answer.

“You’ll see. It’s a surprise.” The other woman in the shuttle craft smirked as she manned the controls.

“Come on Elisa! Don’t keep me in suspense here!” Her feline friend protested with a growl.

“Hehehe, it’s always fun seeing you frustrated Sh'osi.” Elisa giggled as she glanced at her friend's face.

“It’s not funny Elisa.” Her friend continued to pout; arms crossed.

“Sure, it is, just have a little more patience, will you? You’ll see what this is all about in a second. We’re almost there.” Elisa said as she guided the shuttle craft by some more of the occupied berths.

“Humph.” Sh’osi huffed and just kept her arms crossed with some irritation.

“Annnd we’re there. Take a look over there.” Elisa pointed out the window.

“What is…it?” Sh’osi looked out the window, her words trailing off.

Ahead was one of the occupied berths. A starship was being built; the sleek saucer shape was mostly completed. A signature of Federation design, a long sleek secondary hull was also under construction, with a large Deflector Dish, and sleek angled Warp Nacelles. The two sections hadn’t been joined yet, there was still a good deal of construction to be done before it was ready. The Sensor Pod wasn’t even connected yet.

“Speechless now huh?” Elisa turned to face her friend, “I may have called in a few favors to find out what ship they were planning to assign you. Say hello to your new ship.”

“Really? This is going to be our new ship?” Sh’osi said in shock, she wasn’t quite ready to believe it.

“Yep! Titan Class, she’s already got her registry number and everything. Just needs a name. I figured I’d surprise you with the news before they announce it to you officially. She’ll be ready in about three months. I’m sure they’ll let you know before then.” Elisa explained with a prideful smile.

“Wow, this is wonderful! Just think of it, a ship that is truly ours!” Sh’osi exclaimed with an excited purr, “I will miss the Grove though.”

“Me too, for a Nebula Class she was as tough as they come. But she’s a training vessel. If it hadn’t been for all the insanity we had to deal with the last few years, I’m pretty sure you’d have been given your own ship already.” Elisa said.

“Maybe. Still, it’s weird giving up that ship.” Sh’osi said softly, “With all we had been through on the Grove. But you’re right. We shouldn’t hold onto it forever.”

“Captain Ramses is an excellent choice. Experienced, made quite a name for himself like we did. The Grove is in good hands.” Elisa stood up from her seat to stretch a bit (not that there was much room to in the cramped shuttle craft).

“That she is.” Sh’osi purred, “Has a crew been picked out yet?”

“Not that I know of. Pretty sure we’ll still have a good number of our original crew. Possibly new graduates, and some veterans to round things out. But I don’t know specifics.” Elisa shrugged as she sat back down.

“Hmmm… I’ll look into it later.” Sh’osi rubbed her furred chin in thought, “It would be good to have more experienced crew members aboard.”

“Still got plenty of time. Now then! We should head back to the station. Take advantage of all that accumulated shore leave.” Elisa smiled mischievously as she steered the shuttle craft away from the berth and back to Earth Space Dock.

“Yes, we’ve all earned it. Where are you going to go?” Sh’osi asked.

“Me? Was thinking Riza. But everyone goes there. So, I’ll probably just find a nice quiet place on Earth to camp away from it all for a while.” Elisa shrugged, “What about you?”

“See my Clan. It has been a while with everything going on.” Sh’osi purred, “You’re more than welcome to join me if you want.”

“Well, I’ve never been to Cait before. That could be an adventure in itself!” Elisa said with a cheerful grin, “Sure why not!”

“Great! You’ll have a great time. I promise, there’s a campsite I know you’d love.” Sh’osi purred happily.

“I can only imagine. Your folks aren’t in some nudist colony, though, right?” Elisa teased.

Very funny Elisa.” Sh’osi rolled her eyes, “The answer is no. I’ll get in touch with my parents tonight. My sister S'Roren will be happy to see you again. And you can meet my brother Krori.”

“It would be nice to see S’Roren again, under much better circumstances even.” Elisa agreed.

She continued to chat with her Caitian friend as they returned to space dock. It was going to be a great shore leave. For however long it would last for.

Stardate: 89596.76 [August 6, 2412 10:00 AM Earth Orbit]

“This is it, are you ready for this Captain Sh'osi?” Elisa smirked as she adjusted her uniform, a mostly black affair with some white on the bottom of the jacket, and a deep red around the shoulders and upper chest.

“As, ready as ever.” Sh’osi replied, adjusting her own uniform nervously, “I don’t think I’ll ever truly be ready. This feels just like our graduation day.”

“Me too, I still get flashbacks now and then.” Elisa sighed, “I imagine a lot of our classmates feel the same way to an extent. Regardless this is an exciting day! Our ship's maiden voyage! What did you do for the name anyway? You never said, and I haven’t had a chance to look it up.”

Obsidian. That’s what I chose.” Sh’osi purred with a smile, “ U.S.S. Obsidian , after a moon in the Loriana system. Gotta keep up the naming tradition!”

“Interesting choice, but isn’t that moon just a volcanic hellscape?” Elisa pointed out.

“Really Commander Flores? Just going to poke fun at my idea?” Sh’osi shook her head with a slight smirk.

“Sorry, I couldn’t help myself on that one Captain.” Flores smirked, “I wonder who we have for the Senior Staff?”

“I briefly looked over the roster this morning. But I didn’t get to pick the Senior Staff. Aside from you obviously. I’m guessing with the fleets still rather depleted; beggars can’t be choosers.” Sh’osi said, “I don’t mind either, we’re quite familiar with most of the crew already.”

“Guess it’ll be a surprise then.” Flores nodded.

“Mmhmm, surprises can be nice.” Sh'osi agreed and let out a soft purr of amusement, looking down at her chest pocket.

Just above her Combadge was a shifting bulge, it made the Caitian woman giggle.

“What’s so funny? Wait you didn’t…!?” Flores gasped as she finally noticed the squirming pocket.

“I did. I didn’t want to leave him in his cage to be transported to the ship later. Plus, he fell asleep in my pocket, so I just left him in there.” Sh'osi said as the head of a blonde furred rat poked out from the pocket.

“Well hello Cheddar.” Flores couldn’t help but smile as the rodent yawned sleepily and looked around.

“Finally awake huh?” Sh'osi asked with a giggle, as she held her hand under her pocket.

The rodent climbed out and into her hand, whiskers twitching while looking around.

“He’s gotten a bit bigger, is that normal?” Flores asked as she rubbed a finger between the rat's ears, earning her a pleased squeak.

“Eh a little bit of growth was expected, he’s seven years old.” Sh'osi said with a shrug, “The breeder had said some extra growth over the years was to be expected. A side effect of the lifespan extension, but nothing crazy.”

“Oh good. I hope he’s not going to become super-sized or hunger for… people.” Flores laughed.

“You enjoy too many Holonovels.” Sh'osi shook her head with a laugh.

“And you don’t?” Flores shot back, “Comere little guy. You can stay with Auntie Elisa for a little bit.”

The human gently picked up the rodent and held him in her hands. The rat didn’t seem to mind, in fact he started to lick at her fingers.

“Hehehe, he probably smells my breakfast on my hands.” Flores giggled.

“Probably.” Sh’osi purred with a smile of her own, “Hey look there’s it is!”

The Caitian excitedly pointed out the view window. Ahead of them was a dry-dock cradle, and inside was a starship. Finally completed, they could even see small Work bee shuttles finalizing the paint job. It looked gorgeous, with a sleek profile, angled nacelles, pylons, and a large sensor pod anchored in place on top.

“That’s a Titan Class alright.” Flores said with a grin, “She looks gorgeous. Great choice on the hull pattern too. She’ll stand out nicely.”

“That was the idea.” Sh'osi agreed, “Looks like they haven’t fired her up yet. The running lights are off.”

“So are the Bussards and Deflector. The Warp Core must still be offline. Wonder what’s up?” Flores agreed, “Must be behind schedule.”

“I hope that’s the situation.” Sh'osi frowned, “It would really be a letdown that something was seriously wrong before shakedown.”

“Well, we’ll find out soon enough, the shuttle bay is open and the force field is working.” Flores said as she checked the console for the shuttle.

“Let’s hope it’s nothing serious.” Sh’osi said, “I’m eager to see what she can do.”

“You and me both.” Flores agreed, “I’m taking us in now.”

With that said Flores guided the shuttle craft around the ship and slowly eased it through the runway and through the open shuttle bay. She eased the shuttle down in a vacant spot. The whole bay was dark save for some emergency lighting. No one was in sight either.

“Bay is pressurized, so where is everyone?” Flores said as she did a quick check before shutting down the shuttle craft.

“We’ll get our answers soon enough.” Sh’osi said, “I’ll take Cheddar back if you don’t mind.”

“Oh yeah sure, I don’t have a pocket in my jacket anyway.” Flores nodded as she gently passed over the rodent back to his owner.

“Come on little guy, time to explore our new ship.” Sh’osi said as she took Cheddar from Flores and let him climb back into her pocket.

The rodent poked his head out, eager to observe the tour as well. Captain and Commander both left the shuttle craft and looked around. The bay was still very much deserted and quiet. They looked around a bit just to make certain. Seeing no one they headed into the ship proper. It was much livelier than the shuttle bay. People of various races were running about with equipment; engineers were busy working on exposed components while other crew were moving things around from one corridor to another. The emergency lightning made seeing things somewhat tricky, some crewmen were bumping into each other in their rush.

“Looks like things really are behind schedule.” Sh’osi remarked as she looked at the rushed chaos going about, she didn’t even have time to take in the ship’s interior!

“Yeah, I wonder what happened to set things back? I guess we should start with engineering?” Flores asked.

“No, I want to head to the bridge first.” Sh’osi said, “We’ll get a better feel for things there, instead of running around the ship.”

“As you say Captain.” Flores nodded, “I’m gonna take a guess that the turbo lifts aren’t working yet. So, we’ll have to use the Jefferies tubes.”

“I have the ship’s layout on my Padd, we’ll be fine.” The Caitian woman said confidently, “Let’s get a move on Flores.”

“Yes Ma’am!” Flores agreed, right away becoming more professional.

Sh’osi called up the Master Display of the ship on her Padd and led the way. The crew seemed to be so busy that no one had really noticed the captain’s arrival. She didn’t seem to be bothered by it either. They had important work to do, that was more important than protocol in her eyes. Thanks to the map in hand, it wasn’t hard for the pair to gain access to the Jefferies tubes and start their crawl through the ship’s inner workings.

“Doing alright Captain?” Flores asked as they crawled.

“I’m keeping it together. I got you and Cheddar with me.” Sh’osi said, keeping her voice calm and even.

“Good, I know you don’t do too well in tight spaces. If you need out just say so.” Flores said, “Also maybe I should have gone ahead of you.”

“Why?” Sh’osi asked confused, “I have the Master Display.”

“Well not to be rude, but your tail keeps slapping me in the face.” Flores said, just as the aforementioned tail tuft batted her in the cheek.

“Oh…sorry Flores. I didn’t think of that…There’s a junction ahead, we can swap there.” Sh’osi said as she picked up her pace a bit.

“I’d greatly appreciate that.” Flores accepted with a small laugh, “Shame you don’t really have control of that thing.”

“Oh, believe me I wish I could. It would save me no end of trouble. Like now.” Sh’osi let out a groan.

They continued a little further on before reaching a somewhat roomier space. The chamber went off in several directions, including up and down. Sh’osi crawled through and sat on the opposite side. She looked over the plans on her Padd as Flores climbed out as well.

“Where to next?” She asked her Captain.

“We have to go up six decks. We should be at the rear of the saucer section. Once we get to Deck Six, we can go through the main corridor before climbing up another tube to the bridge.” Sh’osi said, “It’ll be a climb.”

“Oh joy… Trying to imply I need to lose weight or something?” Flores teased.

“Hardly Flores, you’re at a perfectly healthy weight.” Sh’osi laughed.

Flirting with your First Officer now? Have you no shame?” Flores laughed.

“That’s not how I meant it Flores.” Sh’osi blushed a little under her fur, “Now get climbing.”

“I know, but it is fun to tease you.” Flores grinned as she started climbing up the ladder, “This is going to take a while.”

“Less talk more climbing Commander.” The Caitian remarked as she started climbing behind Flores.

“Yes Ma’am!” Flores said as she picked up the pace a little.

With that they continued on in silence. Saving their breath for the taxing climb up the decks.

Deck Eleven…Deck Ten…Deck Nine…

“Ooof…this isn’t exactly my idea of fun Captain. Is it getting hotter in here?” Flores wiped her brow of sweat.

“You’re just not used to climbing. You should join me in free climbing sometime.” Sh’osi said not nearly as bothered by the climb itself, “We are in the Jefferies Tubes, it’s usually warmer in here. Plus, the ship is still on emergency power. Only the backup environmental systems are running.”

“That’s a good point. I didn’t think of that.” Flores said as she glanced down at Sh’osi, “Maybe if I didn’t hate heights so much. Just seeing you climb on the Holodeck makes me anxious.”

“And yet you’re climbing a ladder right now.” Sh’osi pointed out.

“That’s different. Its next to impossible to fall from a ladder in such a confined space.” Flores said, “It’s easy to catch myself if I lose my grip. How much farther do we got to go anyway?”

“Since you started complaining? Two more decks. We just past Deck Eight.” Sh’osi said, “Almost there.”

“Ugh…alright.” The human hung her head for a moment annoyed.

She continued the climb without further complaint. Past Deck Seven, and finally to Deck Six.

“Take the tube to your left. There should be an access point three meters down.” Sh’osi purred.

“Finally…I feel like I need a shower already.” Flores huffed as she found the tube in question and started to crawl through it.

Sh’osi wasn’t far behind. Climbing through behind Flores and finally out into the corridor. Just like the deck they left behind it was bustling with people. Working quickly on numerous systems and equipment.

“Just as busy up here as it was down on Deck Twelve.” Flores said.

“I’m getting the distinct impression that the Logistics Department is way off the mark.” Sh’osi grumbled a bit.

“We’ll know for sure what the deal is on the bridge like you said.” Flores looked around some, observing the busy crew, “Where to next?”

“Follow me Flores, we’ll get there before you know it.” Sh’osi purred as she took the lead once again.

Captain and Commander both walked through the busy corridors. Now and then one of the crew would recognize them. Much of the crew they passed were indeed familiar faces. Offering quick greetings before returning to their work. It didn’t take too long to find the access point they needed to get up to the bridge, Sh’osi understandably hesitated to reenter the Jefferies Tubes.

“Are you doing okay Captain?” Flores asked, “You didn’t seem keen to get back to crawling around, more than I do.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. Think it’s just the enthusiasm wearing off.” Sh’osi said, “So the claustrophobia is starting to sink in more now. Still leagues better than EVA Training.”

“I can only imagine; you nearly failed that course.” Flores said, “It looked pretty scary from the outside. So, I can only imagine how it was for you. Glad you were able to pass it though.”

“Me too. Let’s focus on something else though. Thinking about that isn’t doing me any favors in here.” Sh’osi remarked.

“How about what you’re having for lunch?” Flores asked, “I’m curious to know what’s new on the replicator menu. Might try a Vulcan dish for once.”

“Ha! You try a Vulcan dish? That I gotta see!” Sh’osi laughed, “I’m not sure what I’ll try. No end of options.”

The conversation served as a welcome distraction as they continued. Giving them something other than the arduous climb to think about. Before they knew it, they were finally at their destination. Deck One.

“Finally… Talk about getting in your daily exercise!” Flores remarked as she climbed out of the tube finally.

“Yeah, doesn’t beat free climbing though.” Sh’osi agreed as she stood up, “Much too snug for my tastes though.”

“I’m with you there.” Flores nodded, “Looks like we ended up in the conference room.

Indeed, they were in a large room, with a long table and chairs. And wide windows overlooking the dry dock and beyond that Earth, it was quite a view.

“Wow, you know I never actually took the time to admire this view before. Earth is just beautiful.” Sh’osi said as she went up to the window.

“So is Cait. You can admire the view later. We gotta check out the bridge.” Flores said as she nudged her friend.

“Right, right. Sorry, just really distracted me.” Sh’osi shook her head and smoothed out her uniform, “How do I look?”

“Like you ran a marathon. Your mane is a little off, but very much still a captain.” Flores said, “And how do I look?”

“Pretty much the same as me, and very much a first officer.” Sh’osi smirked as she got to fixing up her mane.

“I’m not even surprised; I swear I’m going to need a sonic shower before we even depart.” Flores rolled her eyes as she fixed up her own uniform and hair, “Better?”

“Perfect.” Sh’osi purred and smiled, “Shall we?”

“We shall. Let’s be ready for chaos on the bridge.” Flores nodded as she got the conference room door open.

“I’d be disappointed if it wasn’t. Given the chaos everywhere else on the ship.” Sh’osi said.

It was only a few steps to the bridge. Flores got the door open, and they were indeed greeted by chaos. Crew were scrambling around working on wall panels, consoles, even in the ceiling in a few spots. Most of the consoles were gutted and in different states of completion. It really was a madhouse!

Flores cleared her throat and stepped ahead of Sh’osi, “Captain on deck!”

The crew in the room immediately stopped what they were all doing and stood at attention. Many of them were familiar faces to the pair, but also some fresh young faces, and older more experienced ones. Sh’osi stepped forward to look over everyone present, her hands behind her back. She looked every bit the part of a professional in her rank, keeping a calm neutral expression on her face as she took a short walk to the center of the bridge.

“As you were.” She said after a long moment.

The crew quickly went back to work after a quick salute.

“Who’s in charge up here?” The Caitian asked.

“I am Captain.” A male said as he stepped around some of the other crew.

A young Bajoran male in fact, dressed in a similar uniform to Sh’osi and Flores, but with yellow highlights instead of red. His hair was a short dusty brown blending in with his lighter skin and brown eyes. He had a silver earring around his right ear, a traditional piece for his people.

He stood at attention, “Lieutenant Junior Grade Iper Shas Operations reporting.”

“At ease, now tell me what’s the situation. We’re supposed to depart within the hour.” Sh’osi asked.

“Were you not informed? Word was supposed to have been sent to you, notifying you of the delays. We’re hours away from being space worthy.” Shas explained, “Lots of critical equipment and supplies only arrived hours ago. We’ve all been scrambling to get things in order. Engineering was a disaster! Our deuterium supply only came aboard less than an_ hour ago_! Chief Doruo should have the warp core online any minute now though. Once we have main power, we should be able to accelerate completion.”

“I see. We figured something like that was the case when we got here and the shuttle bay was deserted.” Sh’osi said, “I never got word about the situation myself.”

“I hadn’t heard anything either.” Flores shrugged, “And Chief Doruo? Are they Caitian by chance?”

“He is, why?” Shas asked.

“You don’t think it could be him, do you?” Flores looked to the captain.

“I don’t know of any other engineers in the family.” Sh’osi said, “Unless he had a kid at some point and didn’t say anything. Our Chief Engineer is none other than my uncle H’Nish Doruo. I’m Sh’osi Doruo.”

“Oh, I see.” Shas nodded in understanding.

“He’ll be surprised to see you I bet.” Flores remarked, “Should we head down there next?”

“In a bit, I’m in no hurry to crawl through the Jefferies tubes again.” Sh’osi said, “I’m more interested in the progress here.”

“We should have the bridge fully operational in two hours max.” Shas said, “We’re still getting the EPS conduits installed.”

“Among other things. Still installing the isolinear chips too I see.” Flores said as she looked around, “Still you’re doing good progress.”

“Thank you, we’re doing our best.” Shas nodded.

“In fact, let me help.” Sh’osi said, “I’d rather not stand idle or hover over shoulders.”

“I-uh…if you insist.” Shas stuttered out; he wasn’t about to question his captain.

“I might as well help too.” Flores shook her head with a sigh and a smirk, “Always gotta be hands on, don’t you?”

“Have you known me to be any other way?” Sh’osi laughed as she got to work helping one of the technicians.

Stardate: 89597.3 [August 6, 2412 14:42 PM Earth Orbit] (Nearly 5 hours later)

“We got main power finally. And the bridge is up and running, so what’s the situation with the rest of the ship?” Sh’osi asked as she wiped some sweat from her brow.

“I’ll look into that now.” Shas said as he got to work on a now operational console, “Most major systems seem to be operational now. Computer core is online, we should have impulse and navigational shielding in a few minutes. Environmental systems have switched over to primary functions. Communications are all up and running, as are short range sensors. Things are progressing along.”

“Glad to hear.” Flores sighed, “Shall we get that tour now?”

“Uhh one moment, we’re getting a priority message from Earth Space Dock.” Shas said.

“Is the view screen working?” Sh’osi asked.

“It should be.” Shas nodded.

“Alright put it through.” The Caitian nodded to Shas.

An older looking male Trill appeared on the screen, dressed in an admiral’s uniform.

“Admiral Quinn, what can we do for you?” Sh’osi asked.

“Greetings Captain, hard at work with your new ship I see.” Quinn said.

“Well, she’s still in pieces sir. But we’re getting there.” Sh’osi nodded.

“Sorry to hear that, the shipyards are all in chaos with refits, repairs, and construction. Which is also why I’m reaching out.” Quinn explained, “We need you to deliver supplies to Starbase Two-Thirty-Four right away.”

“You want us to what?” Sh’osi gasped, “Surely another ship is in better shape to make such a delivery. We’re still getting the impulse engines up and running, to say nothing of the rest of the ship.”

“I understand your shock, but right now we’re spread thin trying to keep order after all the chaos recently. Your ship is the most space worthy right now.” Quinn explained, “So, I’m afraid I must insist.”

“…Alright. We’ll be ready to depart as soon as we can.” Sh’osi sighed.

“Excellent, the supplies will be delivered to you shortly. Quinn out.” Quinn said as the screen went blank.

“So much for a shakedown cruise.” Flores commented.

“Yeah…but we’re backed into a corner here.” Sh’osi sat down in her captain’s chair, “Hmmm…comfy, if a bit low for me. Anyway, Shas as soon as we’re able to move under our own power let me know.”

“Yes Captain.” Shas nodded.

“Going to address the crew?” Flores asked.

“Yes.” The Caitian nodded as she pressed a button on her armrest, “This is Captain Sh’osi Doruo. You’ve all done a fine job getting the ship into working order, but I’m afraid much of the work will have to be done on the move. We’ve been given orders to head to Starbase Two-Thirty-Four to deliver supplies. So, we have to get underway as soon as we’re able. I know you’ll do your jobs well, don’t rush your work. Make sure it’s done right. We’ll treat this as an unconventional shakedown. That is all.”

“Nice and succinct, a bit unusual for you though.” Flores said.

“Well, I couldn’t very well use the speech I had planned.” Sh’osi said as she leaned back into her chair, “Today really hasn’t gone how we planned has it?”

“Fraid not.” Flores nodded sadly.

“Captain, just got word from Engineering. We’re ship shape enough for travel, though the Chief recommends no faster than warp six for now.” Shas said, “As well as confirmation on delivery of the supplies.”

“Excellent. Let’s get underway, helm?” Sh’osi called to the helmsman.

“Lieutenant Vrino Kesiahl ready and able sir!” The young Trill gave a quick salute.

“At ease lieutenant. Soon as we have the clearance, taxi us out and set course for Starbase Two-Thirty-Four. Warp six if you please.” Sh’osi ordered.

“Aye, Captain.” Kesiahl nodded and focused his attention on his station.

“And so, our adventures begin anew.” Flores commented.

“That they do Flores, that they do.” Sh’osi nodded with a sense of eagerness.

Before much longer the Obsidian began to move, leaving its berth and once clear of space traffic departed the Sol System at warp speed. So began the adventures of the U.S.S. Obsidian and her crew.
