I step carefully to the ledge of the canyon a little terrified to be this high up.

Overlooking the canyon plateau I gaze downward at how far up I am.

A lump forms in my throat and I swallow hard.

Me: "This c-cant be safe....what the hell am I doing up here?"

I say to myself shaking my head perhaps realizing that this was a huge mistake.

I take a step backwards only to be stopped by a sudden gust of wind swirling around me.

Me: "Shit....not now.."

I say to myself in a whine facepalming,

A faint blue glow emanates from my body and begins to wisp and whorl around me.

The energy that coalesced suddenly begins to break from me as if my soul projects its self out of my body.

Only its not me..

It's..

A shape begins to take form, as what can only be described as an astral projection.

Slowly the glowing bodily shape begins to fade and a fleshy being takes form.

He speaks.

????: "I knew you would chicken out you're such a wuss."

He exclaimed smoothly his voice emanating deeply and resonate.

I take a few more steps back and when I feel safe to turn around I do so.

Me: "Really? Are you fur real right now?! Do you NOT see how far up we are?!"

I shout with a degree of annoyance shaking my head at his betrayal.

My voice emanates throughout the canyon and I snap my head quickly back at the sounds as they traveled throughout fading and slowly coming to a end.

????: "See? That's all you had to do."

He says teasingly gesturing to the canyon.

????: Well...not exactly that but...., it would be nice if you actually went through with it"

He says this mockingly.

I shake my head again letting out a long drawn out sigh.

If it wasn't for his alluring voice I would have remained angry but just hearing him speak soothes me in ways nothing else can.

I turn back to him a sly grin still plastered on his face.-

Me: "Tell me again why I'm supposed to be doing this?

I grab my arm at the elbow, my confidence slightly waning.

He walks up to me and grabs me by the shoulders.

As I look up at him he smiles warmly and pulls me in for an embrace.

My cheek is slowly made to rest on his chest.

I return the gesture slowly bringing my arms up and around his back.

All I can think about is how warm he feels, as his fur brushed my face like a fluffy pillow.

Feeling warmer I begin to blush.

He then takes a hand and beings to caress and pet my head.

My face now red I turn my face and bury it into his chest.

Me: "What are you doing?"

I say sheepishly my voice muffled not wanting to pull away so that he can see how red my face is.

????: "Just trying to relax you silly."

He lets out a chuckle.

We stay like this for a moment until he pulls away.

I slowly look up to him as our gazes meet his smile; infectious and warm greets me tenderly.

????: "Ready?"

He says in a breathy tone the smile never leaving his face.

Me: "Okay."

I inhale taking a breath then exhale.

Me: "I'm still not sure exactly what this is going to do for me but, I....I guess I'll....try it."

????: "It's for the prospect of friends."

He says reassuringly as he places a hand on my shoulder rubbing in circles then squeezing slightly.

I turn back to the ledge and slowly make my way back.

I stop at the same spot I was just moments before.

I pinch the bridge of my nose closing my eyes for a moment.

I say under my breath

Me: "I'm going to sound like a damn fool..."

????: "Nah bro, I believe in you. It'll work, trust me."

He nudged in his reassuring voice again.

I open my eyes, and look up at the sky.

Me: "I hope so.."

I glance back at him once more with a small smirk, he returns it with a wink.

I turn back and inhale deeply, and I shout.

Me: HELLO?!?!!

My voice booms across the vastness of the canyon the echoes loud at first of my words clear as day as it trails further down across the space.

Its fades.

Me: "IS ANYONE THERE?!?"

I pause listening again as the echoes make their way through the valley, my voice getting further and further away.

It fades.

I stand there in silence for a moment, inhaling deeply and exhaling.

I turn around once more and right on queue.

Me: "See?" I told you..nothing..

I shake my head almost as if I was half expecting someone to actually say hello back.

????: "Give it time, you doubt yourself way to much, ya'know?"

He crosses his arms as if disappointed in my disbelief.

I scoff and chuckle a little bit at his statement.

Me: "I just screamed hello into an empty canyon! How do you expect me to feel? More so actually expecting someone to say hello back!"

Me: "I feel like an idiot."

I say in a whine facepalming myself once again this time at the absurdity expecting something was going to happen.

????: "It will, trust me."

I turn back to the canyon waiting again.

Silence...

I impishly fold my arms tucking my palms under my pits raising my shoulders.

Me: "I do....but."

Suddenly I'm embraced from behind his strong arms clasping in front of my chest giving me a warm delicate hug.

He perches his chin on top of my head and lets out a breath from his nose.

????: "You'll see."

Once again I'm lulled by his voice instilling the confidence and faith back in me.

We stay like this for what seems like hours locked in his eternal embrace as he lowers his head to the side of mine nuzzling the side of my ear.

I smile, and lean my head against his like a pillow.

Me: "I know."
