Raiding Their Home
Just another little blurb of a story segment. Been playing a lot of Skyrim lately, and I thought I'd write something about dungeon delving. Humans are the monsters this time! Maybe if I got rid of the flashlight, it could take place in the same universe as the last drabble? I'll just keep rolphing these out until something truly cohesive forms.
There was a flickering light just ahead that blended with the beam of the mouse's flashlight as she turned the corner. She was too far from the source to hear the crackling, but she knew it must have been a torch. Her breath caught in her throat. Without taking her eyes off of the lit wall ahead of her, she shut off the flashlight and crouched close to the cave wall.
'Crap, I thought those things were all accounted for!' Lisa thought to herself, waiting for the source of light to appear around the cave wall ahead.
Without warning, she heard a shout come from the direction of the torchlight. It was sounded to the mouse as if the one shouting was waiting for a response. Her breathing remained controlled and silent. Pointing her flashlight at the ground, she turned it on and swept it around the nearby walls.
Another shout, angrier sounding this time came from the creature up ahead, in conjunction with the echoing sound of footsteps on stone and rubble. In addition, the light was growing brighter.
Now she was panicked. She was about to give up on her search for a hiding place and turn back when she heard another shout from the direction she came from.
The humans were alerted to her presence. Ever since the recent extermination attempts, they were known for their brutality towards anthros. To them, a looter was as valid a target as a raider or slaver.
And Lisa already had some of their food in her pack.
