Curtis stalked back and forth. We was sweating and he couldn't stop shaking. Nothing but worry plagued his mind. He went to the far corner of the room where the large planted fern was and then to the opposite side and under the security camera that slowly tracked his movements.

Hadrian was worried as well, but he didn't outwardly show it. Instead he laid down by the air vent that was blowing a steady current of cool and refreshing air against his side.

You should sit down. Hadrian sent the message to his partner. There was a chance that this wasn't about their personal endeavors in the bed. Evergreen could have brought them to their main facility in San Diego for any number of reasons. There was a lot of tech and software in Hadrian's body and sometimes that needed updating. They could have just needed to bring him in to address a major bug or something. That was likely.

Curtis stopped for a moment to read the message on his PDA and the. He looked over at the tiger sized dog. How could such a massive thing, capable of so much devastation, look so calm?

"I tried that already. Remember?" Curtis said, but still sat down in the chair closest to Hadrian. There were a number of chairs lining that wall on ones side with small tables next to them. On the opposite wall were enlarged magazine covers from science magazines, lauding Evergreen for their major breakthroughs. It reminded the man of the waiting room at the local dentist.

Curtis looked over at one of the tables and was pleasantly surprised to see that there were indeed up to date newspapers and magazines. He picked up one, a magazine about antique cars, and began to flip through the pages. "They drag us here and put us in this room and just leave us." He looked over the various pictures of cars he had no clue about.

Just stay calm. We're here already. Whatever is going to happen. Is going to happen. Hadrian said even though Curtis' anxiety was infectious. He was trying his best to listen for any kind of hints. When he couldn't hear anything but the air flow, he tried to smell. That didn't work either. The air was being scrubbed.

"Yeah." Curtis nodded and put down the magazine. He ran his head through his hair and leaned back into the seat. His arms hung down the sides of the chair and he contemplating just taking a nap. He used to do that at the dentist and he hated the dentist. He could do it here as well and whenever Evergreen came for them, he would wake up then and not have to deal with this anxiety right now.

He yawned and closed his eyes, but it was obvious that this wasn't like the dentist. He was worried about his job, his public image, lawsuits and of course he was worried about Hadrian. What would Evergreen do with him? The company owned the dog in every right. Could they put him down. Oh God. That would be the worst outcome.

Curtis groaned and gently slapped the side of his face. "How are you so calm?" He asked and then added with a whisper, "They know."

We don't know that. Hadrian replied and laid his head down on his paws.

"Why else would they drag us away like this?" Curtis looked over at the single door that led into the room, half expecting to see someone come barging is with a slew of accusations.

If I remember right, which I do because my memory is supplemented with Evergreen tech, you didn't have to come.

"What was I supposed to do?" Curtis fidgeted in his seat. It was the exact same fidgeting he did the first time he tried to sit down. "Just wave goodbye? So long? Have a nice day? You're my partner. I can't just abandon you. I need to support you" He reached over and pet Hadrian just under his ear. His fur was soft and the muscle underneath so strong. It reminded him of the times he was curled up between Hadrian's legs, naked, but warm. It was a nice thought, but not what he needed right now. He stopped petting Hadrian.

Seems like your the one that needs support. Hadrian pressed his snout against Curtis' hand. When he still walked around as a human, Hadrian was never into physical contact, but now he felt himself craving it.

Curtis let Hadrian rub against his hand. It looked less like he was molesting the canine of Hadrian was doing it. He could only think of how their affairs would look like to the rest of the world. Beastiality was illegal and yet, ironically, here he was, an officer of the law, fucking his work dog. Yet, Hadrian seemed more human that actual humans. He didn't see Hadrian as just another animal. He had complex thoughts, held complex conversation. He was human in every way, but form. Would they take that argument?

All Curtis could do was wait and that little bit of realization helped take the edge off a little.

It's going to be alright. Hadrian told Curtis even though he knew that it might be a lie.

On the other side of the camera stood two figures. They watched the monitor with interest.

The room was dimly lit to allow the security feeds, which came from hundreds of cameras across the facility, to be more easily seen.

"Cute," Marshal Emery snorted and crossed his arms. He had been watching the two for nearly an hour long. He was still getting over the fact that this was what he was sent to get. At first, when he arrived and was told about the nature of Evergreen's latest project, he didn't believe it. Now that he was looking at it, he still wasn't sure. The dog, Hadrian was larger than a Lycan, or a werewolf, which was what the Americans preferred to call them. It was just as intelligent as well since it had a human brain. It seemed blasphemous. Playing God and yet how could it be if this was a project that was secretly being funded by the Templars.

"As you can see," The scientist, one of the original that had worked on the 'super dog' project, said. "The two have developed quite the bond over the past several months. They known to be rather inseparable."

Emery did see it, the way that the two consoled each other and the reports he read didn't say otherwise. They were partners in their field. He looked at the scientist and frowned. "You said there was an issue. Some kind of development?"

The scientist nodded. "Yes. There's been an unforeseen turn that may jeopardize Hadrian." He blushed a little. The fine details were unknown. The act itself wasn't witnessed, but Hadrian's biometrics were closely monitored and that had given enough proof to know what was going on between Hadrian and Curtis.

"Well?" The Templar tapped his foot impatiently. As interesting and disturbing as this all was, he didn't like that he was playing delivery boy. He was an experienced Templar. He should have been allowed to go to Russia with Reiss where he was sure he would have been of better us. Anyone else could have been sent here. "What's the development?"

The scientists glanced over at the Templar. He was intimidated slightly by the man who stood at over six feet tall and was very noticeably muscled. The black suit with a small red cross pinned to it, was stretched at the neck and very filled out. "Nothing is for sure, but..." It was, without a doubt, certain. "It's believed that the two have a sexual relation."

The scientist was not surprised by the lack of reaction from the Templar. The large man didn't every raise an eyebrow.

Emery didn't care about the obvious reasons. The Church hadn't cared about homosexuality ever since the late Pope Francis reorganized the entire Catholic Church. He got rid of a lot of bigotry and focused on turning the Church's attention to real issues such as poverty and war. Then there was the issue of beastiality. Officially, Hadrian was a dog, just a really smart dog. He wasn't. He was a human in a dog's body and to question who he sleeps with because of that would be hypocritical since Lycans were in a very similar situation. It was not unheard of for a human and a werewolf coupling and mating.

The real issue was in Emery's orders. He was here to retrieve Hadrian. Not Curtis. Originally, Hadrian wasn't expected to go anywhere in the first place. He was supposed to be a trial run for future generations of 'super dogs' that would have the minds of Templars, but it took a long time to do that and the threat to the Church was present now.

"I would like to speak to them," Emery said, having come to his own conclusion on how to proceed.

"Of course." The scientist nodded, not sure of what the Templar was planning on doing. He just played along since this morning and the Templar appeared without warning. He hadn't expected a visit from Evergreen's number one share holder until much later. He had just barely begun to work on the next generation of dogs that would be used for the Templars.

"If you'll just follow me." He led the Templar down right down the hall to the room where Curtis and Hadrian were being kept. He opened the door, which wasn't locked.

Curtis bolted up. He had finally been on the verge of falling asleep, but now he was instantly awake and alert as his body went into full on panic mode.

Hadrian was ready. He had heard the footsteps outside of the door just moments before it opened and it was enough time for him. He stood up. Not in a threatening manner, even though he was a large as a tiger, which made it harder not to appear hostile.

Emery was unfazed by Hadrian. He had never seen a canine that large. Most Lycans maxed at around 300 pounds. Hadrian seemed to be closer to 500.

"Leave us." Emery turned to the scientist who had been the most annoying thing this day. "And turn that camera off." He nodded at the camera in the corner.

"That's not in regulation, sir." The scientist blustered. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't. The security cameras belonged the security chief who was at home.

Emery shrugged and walked over to the camera and looked up at it. With a quick swipe, the device was knocked down and it crashed to the ground where it fizzled for a moment and died.

"Right." The scientist looked at the broken camera and then back up at the Templar who gave a slight grin. "I'll be going now." He left, closing the door behind him.

Curtis and Hadrian exchanged glances, unsure of what to make of this new person who was now gazing around the rest of the room and was seemingly sniffing the air.

Emery couldn't smell a damn thing. The air was so heavily scrubbed. He immediately thought about taking the conversation outside, but the nature of what he was going to talk about was sensitive. Not that he was afraid of spies, but there were thugs that a random passerby didn't need to concern himself about.

"Now, I'm sure you have lots of questions," Emery finally said. He grabbed one of the chairs against the wall and slid it over so he could speak to the two face to face. "But let me talk first. It's going to get a bit confusing." He had already decided to bring Curtis along. Let the people running around in glorified bathrobes in the Vatican deal with it later, but in order to save the obvious strife that would come from separating the two, it was just easier this way.

"Ok." Curtis nodded and Hadrian sat down on his haunches.

"My name is Marshal Emery. I'm here at the behest of the Knights Templar." He could already see it in their eyes. They thought he was crazy. Understandable.

"I'm here to bring you to the Vatican." He went on to explain the entire purpose of Hadrian and how he was the first of many to be made in order to fight threats against the Church.

I'm not even Catholic. Hadrian sent the message and Curtis snorted. He then showed the PDA to Emery.

"Not a problem worth considering right now," Emery continued to explain. "The threat is too large and too apparent to worry about."

"Werewolves." Curtis said in disbelief. "A threat caused by werewolves?"

Emery nodded. He knew he sounded insane. There was a reason why the existence of Lycans was kept secret. The public wouldn't be able to handle it. If they even believed it.

"And you want us to just go with you to Europe to fight them? Just up and fly off." Curtis imitated bird wings with his hands.

We're just the police. Hadrian commented. We're not superheroes that go off and fight werewolves. Even if it were true, we're not cut for the job.

Emery sighed. He wasn't going to be able to convince them with words. He would have to show them, but not here. Evergreen didn't know about werewolves. They just knew about the Knights Templar. He needed to take them to the Vatican and from there, they would see.

"Just come with me and I'll show you proof."

Curtis and Hadrian looked at one another and they both shook their heads.

"We're not going anywhere. We're fine right here."

Emery clenched his fists lightly. Why couldn't people be reasonable? Now he had to be unreasonable.

"I can't leave without you. I have my orders and if you don't come willingly, the I'll have to let your secret out." Curtis froze and Hadrian got stiff. Emery knew he had them now.

"What secret?" Curtis asked even though he knew that his bluff had been called a long time ago.

"I don't personally don't care, but the rest of the world will if it gets out that you two have been going at it in the bedroom." He crossed one leg over the other and leaned back. Hook. Bait. Sinker.

There was a heated back and forth between Curtis and Hadrian. Emery couldn't see the PDA, but by listening in on Curtis' side of the argument, they were considering taking the risk which would be bad for Emery. He wouldn't tell anyone. He wasn't authorized to do that. Yes, it would ruin the two, but the P.R disaster would ruin Evergreen as well and the Templars needed Evergreen.

Curtis' shoulder's slumped. "Fine. We'll come with you to whatever crazy town you're taking us. But we need time. We have our jobs..."

"It will be taken care of." Emery held up his hand and let out the breath he didn't know he was holding. He got up. "Let's go."

Curtis wanted to object more, but Hadrian nuzzled his hand more and encouraged him to go.

Hadrian was already used to taking leaps of faith. He was walking around as a dog when he should be dead. It was weird, yes, but Hadrian felt himself more curious about where this was going.

Curtis on the other hand was still suffering from anxiety and was confused. Hadrian took it upon himself to help Curtis along. He got the feeling that their lives, as exciting as it was, was going to get a lot more exciting.

Emery led them out of the building, without informing anyone and took them to the waiting van where Jerome waited patiently.

"Sir." Jerome nodded and Emery and opened the sliding doors to the van. He then saw Hadrian and his eyes lit up. "I've see. You in the news. I should have guesses you were the reason we came all the way out here."

"Focus, Jerome." Emery set his hand on his squire's shoulder to get his attention. "Just get us to the airfield. I'll call to get a private plane ready. Don't need the press to follow us."

"Yes, sir." Jerome waved Curtis and Hadrian into the van. "Nice to meet you." He said to them and then ran over to the driver side.

Emery got into the passenger seat and pulled out his phone that was connected directly to the Templar's satellite network. It was entirely secure. He called back to the Vatican while Jerome took them to a private runway outside of San Diego.

The ride was long, but Jerome was lively and talkative. He was excited to finally see Hadrian since it was a canine with a human's brain. Sort of like a werewolf.

The friendly conversation helped put Curtis a bit at ease. He hated the idea that he and Hadrian were being blackmailed to come along and also that he was in uniform still. The slacks of his uniform was tight at the knees and the crotch and wee starting chafe.

Emery stayed on the phone the entire time and his conversation with who ever was on the other line was not going well. The man was rubbing his temples by the time they got to the runway where there was already a jet waiting.

"Change of plans, folks." Emery said. "We're going to Russia."
