First Contact War

The First Contact War was a war fought between Humanity and the Pelzigans in the year 2694. Humanity had first begun space exploration with starships in the year 2250 and had expanded to a number of systems prior to first contact with the Pelzigans. First contact was between the Human Exploration Force, HEF, Enterprise and the Pelzigan Defense Force, PDF, Valiant. Originally there was to be a celebration, but then an unknown vessel engaged the Enterprise shortly after departing the area. The vessel in question was definitely of Pelzigan design but was not on any records for the Pelzigan database. With the attack on the Enterprise, Humanity decided to get ready for a war. After a series of peace talks, now damaged by uncertainty and distrust between the two species, breaks down, war begins. For 83 years the two species fight tooth and nail to gain sectors and systems. The Pelzigans having an advantage with their strong defense, capable of stopping any and all Human advancement into key territories, let alone breaking through the front. Eventually the war draws to an end when a Guardian and a Human Admiral met face to face. The Guardian was not named in the database of either species, but the Admiral was the grandfather of none other than Admiral Whitcomb himself. With these two meeting and finally deciding enough was enough, peace talks opened. During that time it was discovered that a dissidant group of Pelzigans where the cause of the attack, but there was more mystery behind it. The ship that originally attacked the Enterprise was indeed crewed mainly by Pelzigans, but later on it was discovered that a group of Lothians had gained control of the ship and forced her crew to engage the Human Vessel. With this discovery, the Unified Galactic Systems Military, UGSM for short, a coalition between Humans and Pelzigans, prepared for war against the Lothian threat.
