The Phoenix Adventures (1)
This is a love story about a boy named Will and his Charizard.
“Phoenix, you up there!?" I yell through the branches of a tree. It is only our second day since we left my home, Azalea Town, and I am hoping to get to Violet City quickly so I could get my first badge.
“Yeah, I'm grabbing some Chesto Berries, you want any?" came the reply from up in the tree. Phoenix is my only Pokemon. She is a Charizard. Unlike others, I didn't get her from Professor Elm as a Charmander. Rather I caught her, as a Charmander, in grove by my house. For some reason, I had brought along my mother's old Ultra Ball, and I used it on Phoenix. I have trained her since then, and now, in her final form, I feel we are ready to take the Johto League. Just her and I. Also, it's great she's a flying type. That will come in handy against the first gym.
“Sure!" I yell back. Suddenly, I hear branches break, as Phoenix drops right in front of me. Her orange scales shine in the noon sun. She holds out her open hand, and I take a berry. Her hand is huge compared to mine. Not just because of height and size difference, but also because she has a lot of muscle built up from training with my dad's Ghyarados. I hadn't had a big breakfast, so I am starving for food. “Thanks," I tell her. She smiles at me and leaps into the air again. I hardly have her in her pokeball. She told me a while back that she felt lonely in it. Instead, she just flies above as I walk on the ground. Sometimes, when I'm lucky and she's happy, she'll swoop down, pick me up in her strong arms, and either carry me or let me ride on her back. I guess today was a good day, because as soon as I finish off the big berry and start walking, down she comes to pick me up.
I love Phoenix. And she loves me.
