Date Night Aftermath (Commission for Latria Eclipse)

Story by Cimmaron on SoFurry

, , , , , , ,

Here we go! A nice, simple, human to anthro TF story that involves people reincarnated over and over and bonded with spirits and given super strength, a guy being brought back from the dead after 500 years... and that's just the barely touched on backstory!

It's always fascinating to see how creative some folks, like LatriaEclipse (on Twitter) can be with their OCs. Especially when you consider that my main character is "I dunno... he's a horse that can time travel and sometimes he looks different and sometimes not a horse."

Anyway, enjoy this story!

“Well, that was an evening," Brandon Heathcliff said, as he pushed open the door and held it to allow his boyfriend to enter.

Lars Eder gave a small laugh as he squeezed past the taller, tanned and well-built Brandon. “I'm afraid we can't dictate when interdimensional portals will suddenly open and giant monsters will emerge to wreak untold havoc. Still, at least we sorted that out."

“Of course, no one will actually know it was us," Brandon replied, closing the door, then took off his coat. He was covered in dust, ash, and the blood of some alien creature that scientists would be spending the next few years studying. Lars wasn't any much different, though the sword on his hip had done most of the work to take down the monster.

“Well, as long as we know, that's what is important, right?" Lars replied. He then smiled, and wrapped his arms around Brandon in a hug, much to the latter's surprise.

“I… uh… okay," Brandon said, somewhat surprised at Lars' display of affection, even if it was in the privacy of his luxury apartment. Lars was always shy about showing his affections to Brandon, yet here he was now. Brandon wrapped one of his arms around Lars to return the hug, and the two remained standing in the entry way for a long moment.

“So… uh… sorry that the date ended like that…" Brandon finally said.

Lars looked up, a half embarrassed, half goofy smile on his lips. “What do you have to be sorry about? I got to fight a giant monster, save the city, and do it beside the man I love. What more could I want?"

Brandon let a smile cross his face. “Well, as long as you had fun."

Lars let go at last, looking up at Brandon. “Maybe you better go take a shower, and I'll go order something for supper. If we can't dine out, then we might as well spoil ourselves here."

Brandon chuckled. “Fine. How about that Chinese place we went a while ago?"

“Of course. They do delivery. Same as last time?"

Brandon nodded, and watched as Lars skipped off to the kitchen and the phone.

It had been a crazy couple of years. A rich and successful businessman, the COO of a major bank with a luxurious house, then finding out he was bonded with a spirit, was actually a reincarnation of some powerful warrior from 500 years ago, getting super human strength, bringing back his servant and lover from death from five centuries before, falling in love again… it was crazy.

And now he was fighting aliens from another dimension.

Could things get any weirder?

Brandon went to the bathroom, starting the shower and closing the door behind him.

He looked at the mirror for a long moment, at the lion tattoo that stretched over his left arm, and the black and red left eye that was the mark of being bonded with a powerful spirit.

“No one can really say my life is boring, can they?" Brandon murmured, before stepping into the shower and getting himself cleaned up.

When he was done, towel wrapped around him and another being used to dry his upper body, he stepped back out to the living room.

“Oh good! I was wondering when you would be done," Lars said with a smile. “I believe it's my turn now."

“You could have joined me, you know," Brandon said, raising an eyebrow in a seductive pose.

“Someone has to get the Chinese food when it comes," Lars replied, though they both knew it was mostly because, despite everything, Lars still felt he was the servant to Brandon's pre-carnation, and the thought of bathing together was still one rule that he just couldn't get over yet. He quickly walked past Brandon then hurried off to the washroom.

Brandon chuckled, then continued drying himself off, his eyes looking over his apartment, with the expensive appliances in a fully stocked kitchen, the large open concept living room filled with furniture that cost an arm and a leg and a massive TV, a large fireplace, and a bar that could water the several dozen people that could fill the room during a party. Some could be mistaken for thinking this was an entire house, and not a penthouse apartment suite.

But then he noticed something shimmer from the corner of his eye.

“Hey Lars, what's this thing?" Brandon asked, glancing at the links of a golden chain inside the leather coat Lars had been wearing.

“What thing?" Lars called from the bedroom, before walking to the bathroom and turning on the shower for himself.

“Something in your jacket," Brandon said, as he rubbed his head to get some more water out of his hair.

“Oh, yeah. It's a pendant that fell from the portal right after we killed the monster. I picked it up to look at later," Lars shouted from the bathroom, before closing the door.

Brandon, curiosity piqued, picked up the gold chain, and lifted it up and up, the chain seemingly going on forever, until finally a pendant was unearthed. A large red gem in the center shimmered and glowed with an otherworldly light (which made sense, if it had come from the alien portal), and it caught Brandon's eye in a near hypnotic trance.

There was a warm, soft, tingling sensation that went over his body, starting from the hand that held the medallion up, down his arm, over his chest, down his back and other arm, before ending at his feet. It felt like his whole body had been simultaneously slipped into a comfortable cotton sheet and a warm bath, every muscle in his body relaxing, his mind calming down.

That made the electric shock that ran through his body, setting everything on fire, that much more startling.

Brandon let out a cry and dropped the bauble before falling to the floor. He clutched whatever part of his aching body that he could, groaning in agony and rolling back and forth. Fire and electricity and a thousand other sensations ran through his body all at once, as if he had been zapped and electrocuted.

“Gaaah!" Brandon cried out as he felt his muscles spasm and twitch… and grow?

Even as the torturous sensations ran through his body, Brandon forced his left eye open, glowing red in the intense pain he was feeling. He saw his hand, clutching at the carpet on the floor, slowly pulsing larger and larger, and seeing yellowish-tan hair sprout all over his arm and hand, growing longer and thicker by the moment.

“Wh-what is happening?" Brandon growled, trying to clutch his fingers into the carpet. But instead of catching anything, he felt the fibers rip and tear. He opened his hands, to see long, sharp, black claws coming out of his fingers where his fingernails used to be. His palm was also changing, course black pads forming on the bottom of his hand.

He turned to his other hand, to see the same change happening there. Further down his arm, he could see his biceps expanding even larger than before, before being coated in the fur that was covering his body.

Brandon tried to get on his knees, to stand up, but his legs refused to work for him. He wondered why, until he looked down to see that his legs were shifting into a digitigrade stance. His ankle seemed to rise up higher, with the bones breaking and snapping into a new position to properly represent his new form. The toes, digging at the carpet and hardwood floor and leaving long scratches, now also had the fearsome claws like his hands.

More and more yellow fur covered Brandon's body, as he felt his already clearly defined and honed muscles grow even larger all over. His pecs ballooned larger, his already thick thighs and legs turning into tree trunks. Even his stomach, flat and chiselled before, now had a large six pack.

“Gaahhhwwwrrr!" Brandon growled, as he finally managed to stand up, then stumbled into the living room, knocking over a table and sent a lamp crashing to the floor. He finally got to a nearby mirror, and watched in fascination and horror as his face continued to change: He roared in pain as his nose and mouth was pushed away from his face into a short muzzle, followed by the taste of blood as his teeth grew into long sharp fangs. Brandon's ears grew larger and rounder, and the short blonde hair on his head grew longer and darker, to a deep red. It started growing all around his head into a long, flowing mane. But even as he changed, and his right eye turned yellow with a narrow-slit pupil like a feline, his left eye was still black and red, the symbol of the spirit that bonded to him, was still present.

The large tattoo of a lion emerging from flames on his left arm was soon completely covered by the fur pelt, and it dawned on him.

“I'm a lion?" Brandon said, looking over himself, feeling over his new body, trying to comprehend what had just happened. He was taller; almost a full meter at least, as he had to look and bend down to see into the mirror. He was also stronger, with muscles that would make a bodybuilder blush and the power to outclass his already superhuman strength…

But he was also now a walking, talking lion man.

“Oh shit, fuck," Brandon growled, stumbling backwards, tripping on the couch and falling backwards, crashing into the coffee table.

“AHH!" Brandon roared as the glass shattered and the wood snapped. However, neither actually harmed him: the new fur pelt over his body was more than enough to prevent either from cutting him and drawing blood.

“What's happening to me?" he bellowed, as he crashed and banged around the living room, his center of gravity and new legs combining to make him less elegant and dexterous than felines are normally known for. His senses were also heightened: sight and smell and touch.

And to add to it all, Brandon could feel a tail poking out from his tailbone, swishing back and forth, trying to maintain his balance even as he struggled to remain standing.

“Brandon!" Lars called. “What are you- Oh my goodness. You… you-"

Brandon turned to Lars, still soaked from the shower, a towel wrapped around his waist. He tried to get to him, before stumbling and falling over right in front of the now tiny human.

“I… don't know what happened," Brandon said.

“Calm down, Brandon! Think carefully," Lars exclaimed. “People don't just spontaneously turn into giant cat people!"

Brandon tried to think, tried to piece together what happened, before his eyes caught the pendant on the ground, the red gem glowing less brightly than before.

“The pendant," Brandon said with a growl. “That did this!"

Lars looked down to see the pendant on the ground, and he quickly used his towel to pick up the piece of alien jewelry. “Well, that will really need to be looked into. If it can turn people into giant, sexy animal people."

Brandon nodded, then paused. “Wait… sexy?"

Lars set the pendant on a nearby table that somehow survived the carnage, pausing as he realized what he said. “Ah, umm... Yes. I do find you pretty… sexy."

Brandon blinked, glancing over his body, and the massive, rippling muscles that covered him, and the long mane that circled his head like a luxurious crown. “Heh, 'sexy' works… but I'm thinking 'stud' might be a better term."

“Stud? Like a stallion on a farm?" Lars asked, confused by the term.

Brandon chuckled. “Oh, there is so much you still need to learn about the present, isn't there?"

Lars shrugged, then did his best to help the giant lion man onto his feet. “It's been a long day. Maybe we should just call it a night? You know, go rest and relax…"

The doorbell rang.

They both froze.

“Right, the food," Lars said, running to the bedroom and coming back a moment later in a silk robe to go answer the door and get the food.

“That will be $49.18," the delivery driver said, as he handed several boxes of Chinese food to Lars.

“Silly me! I forgot the money. One moment!" Lars said, setting the food on a table in the entryway and running back to the kitchen.

And letting the delivery man get a glimpse at the giant, naked bipedal lion in the middle of the room, walking around, trying to get his balance.

Lars returned to see the delivery guy, slack jawed and wide eyed, seeing Brandon in his anthropomorphic feline glory.

“Uh… he's a furry. New fursuit. Still getting used to it," Lars said with a nervous chuckle, shoving a handful of twenty-dollar bills into the delivery man's hand.

“Keep the change!" Lars shouted as he then slammed the door into the delivery guy's face.

Supper was quickly consumed afterwards in the ruins of the living room. Turns out that all the extra rice and chicken and pork that Lars had ordered for the leftovers the next day was needed to feed the giant lion man and his sudden change.

“We'll have to clean this up tomorrow," Lars said, looking over the messy living room, and the claw marks everywhere, as he finished his plate.

“And I'll have to call in to work, say I'm ill or something. Sure as hell ain't going like this," Brandon remarked, as he set down the last box of fried pork that he had unceremoniously dumped into his ravenous face.

“Hopefully it can be reversed," Lars said, though he didn't sound totally enthused at the thought.

Brandon's ears perked when he noticed. “You like me like this… giant cat?"

“I did say it was sexy," Lars said with a smile, followed by a yawn.

If Brandon wasn't covered head to toe in fur, a blush might have crossed his face at his lover making such a comment.

So the giant lion leapt up, nearly pouncing Lars, scooping him up into his beefy arms, and carrying him to the bedroom, ducking under the doorway to prevent him from banging his head. It only took three long strides to reach their shared bed, and he laid Lars down, before climbing on the other side (and making it creak and groan as a much, much larger weight than expected landed on the mattress.

“You know, this was a great date," Lars said, with a smile.

“Yeah… only a little bit of property damage and me turning into a lion. Otherwise, pretty good," Brandon said.

Lars laughed, before curling up into a cuddle with the giant lion, where both of them quickly fell asleep.

When the light did hit Brandon's face the next morning, he groaned, sitting up. Last night felt like a blur… like something out of a dream. Fighting a giant alien? Then turning into a lion? That felt like a fictional story. Something that even the best imagination would consider to be too crazy.

Brandon looked at the clock. Just a bit after 7 am.

He lifted a hand up. No claws. His muscles were normal sized. Everything about him was… normal again.

Part of Brandon was relieved to find out that it had all been a dream. Maybe the Chinese food did that.

Well, time to get ready for work, since he didn't have the excuse of being a nearly two and a half metre tall lion man.

He slipped out of bed, letting Lars continue sleeping, as he went to the bathroom to freshen up, still in the nude. Of course, that was normal: he couldn't remember the last time he bothered wearing even boxers to bed, much less actual pajamas.

As he stepped out to the hallway leading to the bathroom, he froze.

The living room was a disaster: all the furniture he thought he dreamed about breaking was all broken.

And on a table, the amulet, all wrapped up in a towel.

“Ah fuck," Brandon moaned.
