Alarms are blaring in the orbital dropship as it plummets through the atmosphere, the ODST armor I'm wearing getting roughed around by random junk in the unit as I try to control the craft.

I think 'Pressing that button wasn't the best idea!'

A voice blares "Alert: Heat Shields are failing. Coolant and Power systems are failing. Please evacuate immediately!"

I say "I would if I could but if I eject now I wont have a clue where I'm going!" as I try to stabilize the craft.

I slowly manage to for the most part angle the craft to where I can see where I am as I see the Eiffel Tower... Paris? Well... at least I know where I am. I look around at all the gauges and half of them are in bad shape while the others aren't responding, I try the radio but I'm not getting any feed back, I even try the brakes and they aren't working... so all I can do is steer.

I say "Okay, lets see if can get out of this..."

I try to aim the craft at a more sparse location, I jam the m16 and shotgun onboard into the controls so that it keeps flying straight, I grab one of the m1911's as I get into one of the crafts pods, I buckle in as I sigh, I have the pod seal and I have the pod eject. The pod launches, I try to control the pod but it isn't responding, I brace as best I can in the pod, I feel it hit something hard as it tumbles and I close my eyes, soon the pod stops moving, I slowly open my eyes to see the pod is on it's right side and by the looks of it I'm in a building of some kind. I try the buttons to pop it open but nothing is working, I look around for an emergency release and I do in the form of a red lever, I grab it with both hands, I yank it down as hard as I can the hatch pops with the sound of a loud clank, I begin to push with my feet against the hatch which eventually causes it to fall over and crash onto the ground, I undo the buckle and I get out of the pod.

As I stand I hear "Freeze!" in a womans voice.

I raise my hands over my head as I try to keep calm.

The voice says "Take off the helmet and turn around!"

I slowly undo the seals to the helmet, I take it off and I turn around to a sight I wasn't expecting.

The woman I heard is an anthromorphic fox, she looks to be about 5'10", her fur is a brownish-orange, blue hair, brown eyes, what looks to be a mole is under her left eye, thick, wavy blue hair with bangs tied in a braid by a gold hairband, red lipstick, she's wearing a dark blue midriff-baring top that zips in the front, form-fitting dark blue pants, a choker with some kind of badge hanging on it, a light brown leather jacket and yellow gloves, a golden hoop piercing on the top of her left ear and knee-high brown combat boots, she's holding what looks to be a red pistol with yellow stripes on the sides with bright blue on the sides flashing.

Here eyes scan me, no doubt we both weren't expecting any of this as I see her slightly loosen her finger on the trigger.

I say "Are you a police officer?" hoping for the answer I want to hear.

The vixen says "I am Carmelita Fox, I'm an inspector of Interpol." as she tilts her head.

I sigh with relief and I say "Thank goodness, I am Adam, it's a pleasure inspector." with a light smile.

Carmelita says "Likewise.", he eyes snap instantly as her finger goes back to the trigger.

I think 'Oh yeah, my sidearm.', I say "Inspector, I mean you no harm. You can have the gun if you want, I don't care about that."

Carmelita says "Toss me the gun!"

I carefully undo the holster, I grab the gun at it's barrel, I gently toss it, she catches it with her left hand and she puts it in another pocket.

I say "That's the only weapon I have, I swear."

Carmelita says "Alright, let's take you down to the station, I have some questions for you."

I think 'And I have some for you.'

Carmelita handcuffs me, we head outside where some police cruisers are present and what looks to be a black armored car with gold stars on them, all of their attention goes to me as I hear them talking to each other and their all anthromorphic animals.

Carmelita says "It's okay, he isn't dangerous, I'm taking him down to the station, in the meantime get his pod-thing to the storage unit." as she holds my helmet.

We get into this red car and she drives with the siren blaring and the lights flashing.

I glance to her, I look to my handcuffs and I say "Hey, thanks for hearing me out back there."

Carmelita says "No problem, you didn't look hostile but as you know being law enforcement I had a procedure to follow."

I look to her and I say "I understand." with a light smile.

We soon make it to this brick building, we get out of the car and head in, everyones attention instantly going to me, even those being arrested stare, heck some of them look nervous, then again given my suit it is understandable.

We get to this desk, Carmelita presents my sidearm to the person behind the desk, she looks to me and she says "Please follow me."

I nod as she leads the way, we come to this red door, she opens it, we enter, she closes the door, she takes a seat at a desk, she motions me to take a seat and I do.

Carmelita says "Adam, what exactly are you?"

I say "I'm a human."

Carmelita raises an eyebrow and she says "A human? Where are you from?"

I say "The United States."

Carmelita says "I've been to the states, I've never seen anything like you before."

I nervously chuckle and I say "About that, I know this may sound weird and you may not believe me but I'm from a... different Earth."

Carmelita says "Hmm, is that what that pod was for?"

I sigh and I say "May I start from the beginning so that you know my situation?"

Carmelita nods and I begin to tell her what I know, from the military convention to my suit, all the the way to my crash landing in the pod. Carmelita seems to be focused on every word as I look at her straight in the eyes while I keep calm, she's part of law enforcement, if anyone could help me it would be her.

I say "And that's everything." unsure if she believed anything I said.

Carmelita puts on a thinking look as her eyes scan me, she says "It sounds very far fetched, but given what's happened so far I do think you are telling the truth.", she sighs and she says "So technically you're an alien."

I say "I... guess that's one way to look at it.", I think and I say "What's gonna happen to me?"

Carmelita says "If I'm being honest, I don't know. You are the first human here, that I know of and I have no idea where to go from here."

I look down as I sigh, I hear Carmelita get up, I glance to see her put a hand on my shoulder.

Carmelita says "Don't worry Adam, I'll do what I can to help you." with a light smile, she lightly kneels and she says "You've been cooperative with me and you seem nice. Plus you look lost and confused, can I get some finger prints and other means of identification? I may have an idea." switching to a curious idea.

I nod and I say "Can I please take off my suit first? Don't worry I have regular clothes under it." with a light smile.

Carmelita gives me a hand in getting my suit off, I fill out what I can and even giving her my id card.

Carmelita looks everything over, she looks to me and she says "Wait here, I'll see what I can do. Okay?"

I say "Okay." with a very slight nod.

Carmelita gets up and leaves, as for me I sit in the chair as I look around the office, for the most part it's a typical office, save for the couch and a huge safe just behind the desk. It's all so strange, everything normal save for the people here, I glance to my handcuffed hands as my mind shuffles around, the only thing I can think of is that the dropships warp system malfunction and instead of going to a different location it took me to another universe, in other words I guess the multiverse concept is true after all. Speaking of the orbital unit, it's likely to have crashed by now, I mean the thing was basically a falling brick that just so happen to be aerodynamic with some analog controls in emergencies, if I had to guess the thing only had emergency power systems left given only the computer was functional enough only to give me alerts, hell I had to jam the controls to keep the the thing straight.

I start to feel a little tired, the adrenaline I guess having run it's course, I give a light yawn as I close my eyes and I fall asleep.

I hear "Wake up sleepy head." as I feel my shoulder being lightly tapped, I open my eyes and I look to see it's Carmelita holding a cup of coffee in her hand and a light smile.

Carmelita hold out the cup to me and she says "Here, have some coffee. I think it'll help you out a little." keeping her smile.

I say "Thank you." with a smile as I gently take the cup.

Carmelita says "You're welcome." with a light smile as she goes back to her desk.

I take a sip of the coffee, it's black with no sugar which is far from how I like coffee but it is welcomed given how drained I feel.

Carmelita has some coffee from her desk and she says "It took a little longer then I expected but after some quick searching and some calls... there is no procedure for anything like this. And given the looks of your vessel it isn't gonna be flying any time soon, though it can be fixed to an extent in terms of it's engines. We did recover the other pistol, an m16, a shotgun and a few grenades from the wreck and they are all trashed."

I nod as I understand her and I say "With all of that, where do we go from here?" with a curious look.

Carmelita says "I contacted the president of France to try to see what he recommends and he's just as lost as us since this has never happened before and I've filled him in on everything. As far as all of us know... you are stuck here.", she sighs and she says "According to you, you are a civilian and I do believe you, even though you have a state of the art military suit with you. But some are a little ancy over all of this, especially given I've turned over your firearm, I know you don't know how to use it effectively but it's just how it's all playing out."

I sigh, I can feel a wave of anxiety hit me as I take sip of coffee and I say "What would you recommend?"

Carmelita puts on a thinking look and she says "Well, what think most would say is have you live here in the building until there is a better option. But given how you are I don't think that's a good option."

I say "Are you suggesting that, I come and stay with you?"

Carmelita nods and she says "I think that's the best option, I am the only person you know and you seem to be comfortable with me. What do you say?" with a curious smile at the end.

I say "I would like that, but what about credentials?"

Carmelita says "I'll make sure you get a visa until you get proper identification, but until everything is put into place, I'll responsible for you. You are 19 so it shouldn't take too long and with being part of Interpol it'll make it go faster. In terms of cloths I'll see what we can do as well, I doubt you came with any to begin with."

I say "You are on point, all I have is the cloaths I'm wearing and what's on my person."

Carmelita says "Come, let's head out to my place. We'll leave your suit here so it'll be secure." with a light smile.

I nod and I say "Sounds good." with a light smile.

Carmelita and I finish our coffee, she takes off my handcuffs and we head out. Thankfully the building is less populated then before so not really anyone pays attention to us as we leave, we soon make it to Carmelita's place which is a decent apartment, I look around to see all kinds of awards and certificates to Carmelita's law enforcement record with even newspaper clipings to back them up. But it looks like some pictures are missing thanks some lacks of dust here and there.

Carmelita grabs a couple of pillows and a blanket, she puts them on a couch and she says "Their you go, I hope it's enough for you to rest up." with a light smile.

I say "That'll work nicely inspector." with a light smile.

Carmelita says "You can just call me Carmelita." keeping her smile as she takes off her jacket and gloves.

I lightly nod and I take my shoes and socks off with Carmelita doing the same thing, we take a seat on the couch, Carmelita grabs a remote and turns the tv on.

Carmelita says "What kinds of shows do you like to watch?" with a curious look.

I say "Cartoons, stuff on history, science fiction, technology, action adventure, military stuff, some horror once in a while..."

Carmelita says "So a little of everything?"

I say "More or less." with a slight shrug and slight smile.

Carmelita turns on what looks to be a world war 2 movie, right off the bat it looks to be Saving Private Ryan, infact it's an anthro version of it and it's at the scene where they are placing the bangalore charges. Carmelita makes us a quick dinner and we eat as we continue to watch the movie, soon we finish, I help her with the dishes and we go back to watch the movie which is now roughly at the midpoint.

Carmelita says "So Adam, how are you finding everything so far?"

I say "Pretty good, thank you for asking." with a light smile.

Carmelita gives me a smile back, she says "I'm glad." and she pats my shoulder.

I say "All in all, this world doesn't seem too different from the world I left... I just have to get use to the stares."

Carmelita says "So the idea of being the only human here doesn't bother you?"

I say "It kinda does but to be honest for the most part it doesn't." trying to hide how anxious I am but I was still speaking the truth.

Carmelita's ears shift a little as she looks a little concerned, she places a hand on my shoulder and she says "Just remember I'm there for you, if you're confused or just want to talk or anything, you can always talk to me." with a soft smile.

I honestly keep forgeting, she's a fox, she can pick up on my cues better then any human ever could and pick up on my distress a lot easier, not to mention I think her law enforcement training to an extent helps with that. I nod thankfully to her in response, she gently pulls me via a side hug, I glance to see her sidearm is on her hip, I see that the rear sight is curved backward and has some kind of antenna on the back, if anything it looks more like something out of a 60's cartoon then an actual weapon.

Brushing the weapon from my thoughts my attention goes back to the movie, as I don't want her to pick up on where my sight is. Soon enough we make it to the last stand part of the movie where the allies are about to blow the bridge, if anything if a movie had a last stand scene it would probably be my most favorite part, seeing weather or not the heros or even villians could beat the odds to live another day at great cost or fall as their options exhaust themselves. The movie ends in the same way did back where I am from, Carmelita changes the channel to a news station as I sit up, I can feel Carmelita eyeing me, I look to see her examining me with a curious look.

I say "Carmelita, is everything alright?" with a curious look.

Carmelita nods and she says "Yes, it's just you humans don't seem to have any fur. Are you cold?"

I say "I'm alright, you see we rely on our clothes to keep us warm, or cool depending on the season or where we are."

Carmelita says "If it's okay with you, can I feel your hand?" with a curious look.

I say "Sure." with a light smile as I hold my right hand out to her.

Carmelita begins to feel my hand with both of hers, her fur-covered hands are warm and soft to the touch as examines them, she says "So smooth...", she looks to me and she says "How do I feel to you?" with a curious look.

I say "Warm and soft." with a light smile

Carmelita lightly smiles, she says "Thank you.", she let's go of my hands and she says "I think it's safe to say, you aren't afraid of me."

I say "No I'm not, surprised at first yes, but not afraid." keeping my light smile.

Carmelita says "I'm happy to hear that." keeping her light smile.

The two of us watch the news, with the main story about the dropship and pod I was in, even footage of me is being shown with Carmelita bringing me out and giving her words to the other officers before taking me to her office. With some being interviewed on what they saw, some being confused, some are curious and some even being afraid, I feel Carmelita touch my shoulder, I look to her as she gives me a smile, I nod with a light smile back at her, she pats my shoulder and we keep watching the news. The news soon ends and we tune into other shows, the time flies by with it getting late.

Carmelita stretches and she says "Alright, I think I'm gonna call it quits." with a light yawn.

I yawn and I say "Yeah, me too."

Carmelita says "I hope you rest well Adam." with a light smile.

I say "You too Carmelita." with a light smile.

Carmelita gets up, she looks to me and she says "If you need, anything please let me know." keeping her light smile as she turns the tv off.

I nod to her and I say "Okay." with a light smile.

Carmelita heads to her room as I spread the blanket on the couch, I lay down and I turn off the light. I review the entire day, I went from being at a military convention to being transported to a different Earth, all from me deciding to press a button out of curiosity. It is scary, given that I have no idea what to expect from this world, but Carmelita's nice and she's helping me as best she can. Maybe I can help her somehow, I don't really know what I could help her with but I can ask and I know full well she'll be taking me to work with her from here on out, which I do welcome as it'll give me a chance to observe my surroundings better. My suit of armor comes to mind...

I sigh as I think 'Yeah, I doubt she'll let me go into a fire fight.' and I fall asleep.
