Chapter One: Night of the Shark, Part One
As most stories start off, this one also begins with a hook. As we read we find ourselves in Southern Boston, in the construction district. Looking around we find Benji, another teenaged shark with a shovel and a gun digging his own grave as a hyena pushed a gun against his head.
“Now then I’d say this is more than deep enough for the likes of you. So then any last words Benji?” The hyena said as he licked his lips, getting ready for the pull. The hyena felt it; the blood rushing through his body, the adrenaline flowing, his entire brain telling him to do something. Then the hyena couldn’t resist some dramatic irony.
Before Benji could open his mouth and speak some sort of quip or comeback, the hyena pulled the trigger laughing as Benji fell over, falling into his own dug grave. He finally got what was coming to him and now all he needed to do was cover him in dirt.
…
Benji opened his eyes, he felt strange it was like he was in some sort of office. Looking around the walls was painted a strange beige color and there were a few folder drawers behind a desk. On the desk there was strange memorabilia, like a strange picture of a few people and a roasting stick.
As his vison came to be it appeared clear that there was someone else in the room, watching him and observing him. The person was human, dressed from head to top in multiple shades of red and in a fancy outfit. When the person realized he was being watched, he danced over to his desk and sat down, spinning in the seat until he stopped.
“So you are the chosen one, well I didn’t exactly expect you to be so young. Then again everybody’s getting younger and younger these days, it all the rages with the reboots.” The man said rambling off as he talking, confusing Benji.
“What?” Benji said confused as he wondered where he was. “Am I in hell?”
“Yes but that’s not important. However, what is important is that you are just the guy I need. You’re a clean slate, a psychopath and the prefect one I need.” The man said as Benji stood up grabbing the roasting stick and pointing it at him. “See exactly what I am talking about, and don’t try with me. I’m immortal.”
“Ok, why don’t you explain what’s happening here before your face gets a beating of roasting stick. And don’t sing.” Benji said as he threatened the man. The man sighed and stood up walking over to past the filing cabinets and pulling down a chart, before teleporting the roasting stick out of the shark’s hand and into his own.
“You see this is how life works, you start as a soul and you inhabit a body.” The man said as he used the roasting stick to point at the chart. “You then die and you go to the afterlife. If in your life were good you spend a few weeks at an off resort, but if you screwed up then we have to make you a clean slate by putting you through the spa, that might take a while.”
“So I am in hell and that makes you one of the devil’s assistants. I figured that it might exist but I never got the church.” Benji said as he sat down in his chair designing to go with the flow and see what was going to happen to him.
“The church, they we wrong, once you’re a clean slate you get send back down into a new body, reincarnation baby!” The man said as he walked around looking at Benji. “Also, I not one of his petty assistants, I am the devil fool!”
“Oh, what does the devil want with me, millions of people die every second, surely must have better things to do than talk with an orphan from Boston?” Benji asked knowing it might insult the devil, but he wanted to push buttons see how far the man would go.
“Ah but you are special, you are going to do it all baby! And don’t call me Shirley.” The devil said walking up to Benji, inspecting him making sure that he would be the one he would choose.
“Now let me tell you about hell, you see we’re having renovations and hell is terrible when it gets renovated. Unfortunately, it has cracked and leaked into your dimensions, both of them in fact.” The devil said as he pulled down another chart. “Everybody’s mixed up and demons are escaping; the lawyers and the robbers are now in a gang war and the lawyers are wining.”
“What do you mean by multiple dimensions?” Benji asked confused, which the devil knew he would.
“Well, due to an energy burst millions of years ago, there are two main Earth dimensions in your universe, yours and one time offset to the Victorian Era. Their governments have connected and have dimensional shifters. Now hell is independent of what timeline you are on, every single version of a person shall go to hell and return to the universe they came from, due to the increasing amount of universes.” The devil said confusing Benji even more.
“Ok, hell is the focal point of all universes. There are multiple universes with every single possibility and all dead souls come here and then go back to where they came from.” The devil said condensing the multiple worlds theory down to a few shorts words.
“Ok, what am I needed for?” Benji asked as he digested all the information. He attempted to understand the information, but in the end he figured it wouldn’t be important to an endgame.
“Due to hell’s increasing renovations, hell has cracked, demons are escaping and this conversation has become really longwinded. I need some on to hunt down escaping demons and trap them before they can cause chaos. They can hide in people, appear as large beasts, but they can be captured and that gives us hope.” The devil said as he pulled down another graph.
“Ok and I don’t have any powers how can I capture these demons?” Benji asked, giving the obvious question. Suddenly the devil raised his hand, it glowing as suddenly Benji was engulfed in a glow and he too did gain powers. A base guitar appeared in his hand like it had been teleported.
“Be careful with my powers, they are very special and can be very powerful. Now take this mask as well, it will help you trap demons.” The devil said as a shark like mask appeared in his hand, except parts of it were shining with steel. He looked at it and almost put it on his face.
“Don’t do that until you get back into the earth.” The devil said as he smiled knowing what the test would be. The devil pulled down another chart, just showing a cell phone. “Ok, when you get there the first demon you need to hunt is in the Victorian dimension, you’ll figure it out when you get there.” The devil said.
Benji stood silent as he looked around knowing that this was something he was being forced into. He wouldn’t be able to escape until the Devil decided he was either worthless or a complete failure. He knew he would have to do what the devil wanted as if he was wrapped around his finger.
“You’ll need a dimensional shifter, one of these.” The devil said as he pointed at the phone showing on the chart. “The Boston Outsiders should each have one and you with your out of box thinking should allow you to take it. Now then, I wish you good luck with your mission.”
“Nice doing business with you Devil sir.” Benji’s body started to glow and his body disappeared as he said some of his final words. To him the world was disappearing around him and so was the sound. He closed his eyes, hoping it would help with the transition that blinded his eyes last time.
“Please call me Lucifer.” Lucifer said as he said his goodbye. “Also watch out for my previous hunter...” However as Benji’s body teleported he wasn’t able to hear the last part, only blurs and points of the message. His body disappeared and suddenly he felt the force of gravity on his body behind him. He felt surrounded and realized that Lucifer didn’t move his body, and he was stuck in a deep grave.
He felt the blood rushing through his head, the thrill of the chase, the adrenaline running through his body. He was in flight or fight mode and he didn’t have much choice for what he was going to do.
He dug up at the dirt keeping his eyes and mouth closed, but found the dirt had turned to mud and he was trapped the dirt, not moving around his body. He tried to move but found himself frozen. He would have at most one minute until his body passed out and he needed some quick options to get himself out of the literal hole he dug himself into.
Searching around he could feel the seconds fly away, his brain being slowly deprived of oxygen as he tried to come up with an idea for what to do. He felt the mask in his hand and figured Lucifer must have given it to him for a reason. He pulled the mask through the mud, slowly pulling it to his face.
As he angled it at his face and pulled it the fastest he could. As it entered on his face he felt the power off it and wanted more. HHHe attached to his face, feeling like the mask disappeared and instead became a part of himself. He opened his eyes wide open even as the world was whitewashed.
Benji felt strong, he felt power. Looking around he felt like he had not the need for oxygen anymore and instead he was taking air from somewhere else. He felt strange, new different fins on his body, and a mask on his face.
He pushed up, the mud moving and he sliced through the dirt with his fins, somehow cutting through the dirt and making his way to the top of the ground. He pulled himself out of the mud, and shook himself off. He got his first real look at his body.
His body was covered in metal, metal plates running down his arm and making his fin sharp metal blades. As he thought about them they folded into his arms, hiding his weapons. On his face, he was covered with some kind of mask, probably what allowed him to breath in the mud. Looking down at the ground, he was taller as well, he wondered what kind of damage this would allow him to cause.
There was yelling beyond in the distance, Benji realized that the group dedicated to killing him had noticed his return from the world of the dead seemed to be coming back. They made sounds of yelling as they realized he was alive, and decided to return to really finish the job.
“How did you survive the dirt and what is with this mechanical suit. Is this how you survived, well then we will have to settle this like men, sword to sword.” The man said as he pulled a sword from the back of his shirt, pulling the katana out and shining it in the moonlight.
Benji smiled as he prepared for fighting, blades automatically popping back out and knowledge of advanced sword fighting placed in his head. Benji stood for a few seconds scanning the environment and a few ideas appeared on a GUI over his vison. Ignoring them Benji went with nothing, making up the moves as he went along.
He swung his blade forward, catching the katana in midair, holding the sword up with his arm and keeping the man at bay. Benji looked into the man’s eyes knowing that he was screwing with him and instead he pulled back his blade and put in his other hand’s blade, pushing the sword backwards, as he pushed against the man.
“You keep on trying to kill me, so many chances yet you don’t take them. Are you trying to mess with me or are you just stupid?” Benji asked knowing that would push at all the buttons he needed to push at. The man looked angered his honor being insulted in front of him by an inferior life form, he grabbed the Katana with both hands and pushed back.
Benji smiled knowing he struck a nerve and decided to follow up with the doubled hand method as well. He then pulled back running over to the girder and forming a protective shield over his. He had no idea why he was covering his body as a sword would probably just bounce off his metal mask, but it was good to appear vulnerable.
The man came running at him with his sword, full speed and they began to fight the blades and the metal clashing. Benji keep his distance as he attempted to keep the katana at bay, simply counteracting it and never forcing himself on it. He back upped onto a construction site, jumping onto the concrete foundation and continuing their clash.
“Come on do something shark, you’re just playing I can see your eyes. You’re body wants to escape this path and continue on something a bit more fun with take you over eventually.” The man said as he continued to wave his katana around, clashing with the blades on Benji’s arms but slowly pushing him back into a steel girder where he would have to fight.
“Oh please, I am not some simpleton without patience you must really be bored maybe you should just leave and find someone more interesting to kill.” Benji said still knowing where to push to buttons, he saw the man get angrier again and knew that something would happen.
However, what he didn’t expect was the steel girder behind him. The katana man smiled and raised his sword. Benji braced for impact, knowing that he would hit one of his more skin-like parts. As the blade came down suddenly Benji felt himself fall through the girder, he had phased through it and was somewhat saved.
He landed back on the ground and his feet nearly sunk into the ground. The katana man switched around the building and jumped off, raising his sword. Benji was tired of the fighting and raised his hand grabbing the sword out of mid-air and holding the man up in the air.
“What are you, what kind of monster has this much power?” The katana man said as Benji pulled his sword out of his arms, causing him to land on the ground, where he belonged. Looking around Benji saw nothing and felt fit to do with this man as he pleased.
The man scurried around trying to get off the ground as he crab walked away. Benji walked over to the man and grabbed him by the collar. He pulled him up into the air and placed his metal fins against his neck. The man was shaking in his hand, knowing what came next.
“Please do not do this you will regret killing me, my brother will get you and make you pay.” The man said shivering in his grave knowing what happened to people that hurt him. Benji smiled knowing that he had pushed the man far enough to start begging.
“Sorry I don’t care about anyone I kill.” Benji said as he sliced the man’s throat blood flying everyone as he fell on the ground of the construction site. Blood mixed with the mud giving it a velvet red color, like cake but without cream cheese frosting.
Blood got in his eye and he rubbed it out of his eyes, feeling his face and how much he liked what he became. As he felt his face, suddenly he felt the mask come off and he transformed back into the man he once was. As he did he felt a different kind of power in his body, as he thought about it… suddenly bongos. Suddenly bongos appeared around his neck and they were real.
Benji played with them as he thought about what kind of powers he recovered. As he thought about it, a chalkboard and chalk replaced the pair of bongos and he wrote down his thoughts, before thinking of an eraser, which also made the chalkboard disappear and the eraser pointless as well.
Throwing the eraser up in the air, maybe he could hire someone to help him, which made a pile of a hundred dollars appear in his hand. He thought about it and he needed some brain food, an apple appeared in his hand and he took a bit of it. He then figured out his powers, however he needed something to call his powers.
He sat down on a girder and figured music might help him with inspiration, a guitar forming in his hands and he strummed out a few chords. No he wanted something louder, and a massive speaker formed behind him. Strumming out the chords, the sound echoed around the construction site.
The speakers disappeared but he was still confused on what to call his powers. He formed another apple and took a bite. He needed something simple, something that go across the idea of his powers and helped his enemies understand it. Then a perfect green emerald popped into his hands, and the connection formed. A lightbulb formed over his head.
“Chaos Manipulation.” Benji said and it sounded perfect, something that said I can manipulate space by forming random masses of objects in hand in a somewhat chaotic fashion. He got off the girder and paced around wondering what to do.
He needed the dimension shifter and while the Outsiders had that it would be fun to just forms it in his hands. He threw it out of his hands and into the mud as he looked at what his powers did. He was amazed at what he could do, a lit firework formed behind him and flew off exploding.
Looking around suddenly he heard the sound above him. Looking up he saw a teleporter flare. He figured someone must have noticed what he was doing and the Outsiders were called out from their cushy headquarters. Looking around suddenly magnetic gloves formed in his hand.
He attached them to the steel girder of the building they teleported onto and he started to climb putting himself up with his powers as he looked at them. He kept himself hidden being the girder as he climbed up to what must have been the designated fifth floor. He climbed up onto the level above and positioned himself for action.
He looked over them as they searched around; it appeared to be a group of one. A white wolf was standing on the girder, looking around the construction site and trying to figure out what was happening. Benji smiled knowing that he’d be able to get the jump on the man and easily steal his phone. He attached himself to the girder and climbed up to the top.
He made his gloves disappeared and instead formed a grappling hook. He looked at his hands and instead a base guitar formed. Benji sighed and threw the base behind him, and tried to from a grappling hook, and another base formed. He threw it back behind him again and finally formed a hook, with a string and a hook.
He groaned but figured it would work. He swung it around, twisting it and swirling it and he threw it to the floor down, instead of hitting the girder, it hit the Outsider and knocked him off. Luckily the wolf grabbed the hook and pulled Benji off the top girder and both hung from a string and a hook.
“Ah you must be the cause of all the commotion, well it seems you gotten us both into a twist. So if you get us both up to the girder again, I might feel like sparing you a few months jail time.” The outsider said as Benji realized he was in prime position to screw with him.
Benji said nothing and started to swing back and forth, the grapple string started to slip and the outsider started to fall more. The outsiders face turned to dread as the shark climbed up the string and reached the girder, taking the string and holding it up.
“Ok, their big fellow no need to kill anyone from the fiftieth floor, we can deal with this.” The man said as Benji had prime control of the situation. Benji sat down and tied the rope around the girder. He picked on it a bit and looked down at the outsider, seeing the fear in his eyes and knowing that was living.
“Ok, what do you want; I’m sure we can give you alyssum in some backwards country for whatever you did to get revenge for the murder of someone.” The outsider said making assumptions. Benji grabbed onto the rope and started to pull it around, knowing that he had complete control.
“What I want is what you have, so if you could say give me your dimensional shifter than that would be all fine and dandy. I don’t think another person has to die today.” Benji said as he swung the rope around, having a grand old time with it. The outsider closed his eyes and groaned, everyone wanted that technology today.
“Really, can’t we have a villain that just wants to blow up an orphanage not escape into the next world for once, I swear these things are more trouble than they are worth.” The outsider said as he felt the phone in his pocket, knowing that it was caused of all of the trouble.
“Well if it is so much trouble why don’t you hand it to me and let me take the trouble of keeping it off of you.” Benji said smiling as he knew he had the sadistic upper hand, while justified in his head, he was evil in the outsiders head. Suddenly he heard a creaking sound.
Behind him the steel beam was moving, raising as the outsider below used magnetic manipulation. Benji grabbed the rope and untied it; keeping it in his hand as taunted the outsider. Yet it continued and Benji hung on knowing that he could keep the situation in his hand.
“Give up and give me the phone and this could all be over!” Benji yelled as he slowly let some of the water fall out of his hand, lowering the Outsider lower. And yet the Outsider continued on his path of self-destruction. He let the hook go and yet the rope stayed in place.
In fact contrary to gravity the outsider started to float up, he arrived at the fiftieth floor and jumped off. Benji groaned as he realized the outsider was using his magnetic powers to levitate the hook onto the top floor. This was it the two faced each other ready for a final confrontation.
“I use magnets, how do they work!” The outsider said as he bent the other side of the girder, preventing Benji from escaping without jumping off the side. Benji backed up and put his hand up. He waited for a few second, letting the tension build up until he could taste it.
“I summon flowers!” Benji said quickly breaking the tension as he formed a bouquet of flowers in his hand, walking forward and presenting them to the Outsider. The wolf looked confused as the shark showed him flowers and then he got it as the bouquet exploded mildly and turned into a gun hidden in all the flowers.
“Seriously gun flowers, those are such a cliché.” The Outsider said groaning as he realized he was trapped with a gun to his face. The gun was so close, literally shoved onto his face and even if he tried to move it with magnets, Benji’s grip would ensure there’d be a bullet in his brain.
“Give me the phone if’d you so please?” Benji asked like a gentleman, knowing he had quickly regained control of the situation. The outsider groaned, reached into his pocket and handed him his phone. Benji smiled as he received the phone, and as he opened it told him the outsider’s name.
“Well than you Isen, I’m sure we can do more business in the future.” Benji opened the dimensional shift app and walked forward, swiping it and a gate of water reflecting on his body forming in front of him. Benji walked forward, passing through the simmering gate and disappearing as Isen realized he screwed up.
“Great now I have to explain this to Elliot.” Isen said as he groaned, he was stuck on top of a building with no way to get down, at least he could call for help. He reached into his pocket and suddenly realized, he was in the middle of water without a paddle. “Shit.”
…
As Benji walked out of the portal he suddenly found himself in midair, looking back on the phone he suddenly saw that there was a warning on the screen. He suddenly realized that he was falling towards the ground, no buildings around or anything to land on at least for fifty floors down.
He twirled around and quite suddenly a parachute formed on his back saving him from an unnecessary cliffhanger. He pulled it open and his fall suddenly stopped. He looked around and he was gob smacked. The entire area was Victorian, everything from the architecture, to the low buildings and the lack of cars and paved roads.
Looking down brick was laid on the road, and he heard a constant clacking sound as horses traveled along the road. People looked up to him as red parachutes wouldn’t be normal in that era. People pointed upwards and looked at him stopping all motion as he amazed them.
He groaned realizing how awkward it was going to be when he landed. Looking around he saw a seaport to his side and a large expansive forest spanning for miles and miles. Based on the river he saw and the size of ships docked, he figured he was temporally shifted into pre-revolution Boston.
Then he thought about what Lucifer said to him, two dimensions, rifts forming between. He was put into a dimension with a temporally offset Boston. He looked around and saw the churches, the parks and everything happening.
He pulled around the parachute, trying to land on the building. However to his embarrassment, he was dragged by a gust of wind and near the street. He adjusted himself wildishly as he tried to avoid the buildings and horses. He landed in the middle of the street pulling the parachute off his body, landing and people looking around at him.
He decided to take advantage of the situation and formed a hat in his hand. He slid it out around in a circle as people surrounded him. A few pieces of metallic coins were placed in his hat and he shuffled them in his hands looking at the alien currency in his hands but he figured it was at least pocket change.
Looking around he felt out of place. He was wearing new and strange cloth, nothing that would be useful in keeping him from sticking out like a complete sore thumb. He looked around, and passed through the crowd. Soon enough crowd attention died down and he turned to an alley.
He didn’t want to warp away back into the regular world yet, he figured there might be a reason that Lucifer gave him the phone, and actions played out as they did. He thought about the historical aspect as well, he could visit bunker hill before it became famous, he could dip a bag of tea in the sea and be the first revolutionist before it was cool.
He could do anything; he could create his own personal universe where time plays out differently. The atomic revolutionary world war, was all but a quick internet search and it could be in his hands and started the next morning. He had that power but it needed to be controlled. What he had could be powerful and even he wasn’t that horrid.
However, instead of starting a revolution he was suddenly pulled. He was dragged back into the alley, by a large and tall wendigo like creature. It was as tall as one of the stories in the alley next to that, if houses in pre-revolution Boston were truly the same height than still he was a tall beast.
A stretchy arm pulled him back to the center of the alley. Benji tried to escape but suddenly a force field formed between his body and the exit way, he was trapped as it was called. Turning around the wendigo let out a horrid laugh, bursting eardrums. Benji was however more shocked when the wendigo reached its face and glowed pulling off a mask and turning into a humanoid form, there was one like him.
“Oh my, that’s different and new, who are you?” Benji asked as he inquired into what was seriously happening. The man smiled thinking that he could use the completion principle to lure the shark in and keep him under his wing.
“I am Greg, not from this universe. I was from a nice universe where I was an IT manager and got killed by a nice purple vapor crowd, well I got myself killed. Glad I did, got sent to this universe, with all this power. Which one are you from?” Greg asked as Benji scanned him, trying to figure out what his game was. Looking around he appeared to be a lizard in his base form, his body gleaming and Benji could tell he had power.
“I’m from this one, well at least the other dimension. Born and raised in this town as well, ended up pretty close to where I came from.” Benji said as he tried to get more info from the man. He was confused as to why Lucifer didn’t mention him.
“Well, let me tell you about the Devil, he is the evil one trust me. He is only using us to further his goal, we can join together and defeat him. Trust me.” Greg said as he put his hand on Benji’s shoulder, the shark looking down and ignoring the admiration, he was better than that.
“What is the devil’s plan, Lucifer I mean, what is his endgame. Are demons harmful to people?” Benji said asking vague enough questions that he might figure out what Lucifer and or Greg was thinking of doing. He was psychopathic, but he wasn’t going to let Earth fall, in that case he was sometimes sadistic.
“The devil wants to seal off universes and dimensions, because more rifts mean that hell is more unstable, and the more unstable it is the more likely we can take over and allow for eternal life, immortality to all. And I will lead that plan, because it is my destiny.” Greg said laughing a bit, as suddenly his head turned towards the road.
“But the demons that are already there what will happen to them, they could still escape and infect the Earth, what do we do with them?” Benji asked deciding to play devil’s advocate.
“Quiet, the outsiders are coming they know you must have used a dimensional shift. You have to be a bit quieter next time you shift.” He said as suddenly Benji caught a look at the outsiders. It appeared that they had perception filters as Isen’s clothes now appeared more revolutionary and they blended in.
“You want to destroy the world, what happened with you and the devil. I see him as trying to save this planet, planets, this is confusing. What happened to you?” Benji asked knowing it would quickly destroy their trust even as he tried to figure out what was happening.
“Isen we need to put on a password lock next time we give you a phone, first the strange lizard, now the shark, this is getting quite out of hand.” A female voice said and then Benji was confused. Their perceptive filters should have covered up his name when he heard it.
Greg was still thinking, looking as he took in the information. Benji figured that his powers must have simply just provided a way around it. He continued listing on the group gaining more information. They were looking around, talking to the crowd.
“Elliot, there was a power spike in the gird, I simply teleported there and he ambushed me. Just look around this is where it said he shifted to, he was a fine looking shark.” Isen said complementing Benji, causing the shark to give a look at the wolf.
Suddenly Greg turned around with anger in his eyes, he figured out that Benji wasn’t with him. If Benji wasn’t with him, Greg figured than he must have been against him. He activated his powers and decided to clash, hoping to kill the shark or get him captured by the Outsiders where he would surely be dealt with.
“The devil decided I wasn’t needed, decided to cut some lose ends but in the process made more than he needed. So perhaps I should spite him.” Suddenly Greg spun around forming a sword in his hand, swinging it at Benji’s throat. Quickly the shark raised his hand and formed a shield in his hand, blocking the sword with a loud clang.
The outsiders noticed and quickly turned towards the alley. Benji figured that Greg would want to deal with him and could get away quickly. So he needed to drag the lizard down with him. Benji jumped up and grabbed a window platform pulling himself up as he did his best to disappear. Greg noticed and followed him their sword and shield disappearing as he climbed up the building, reaching the top.
He took a few deep breaths, hoping that Greg would respect the honor and tradition of the rooftop battle but quickly found himself jumped by the lizard and on his back, getting pushed down to the ground. Both of them spun around as Greg asserted dominance and keep Benji on the ground.
The lizard put his hand out and formed a knife in his hand, the blade gleaming in the sun as Benji looked at what must have been his certain doom. The lizard thrusted it against the shark’s neck, pushing the blade against the skin but not breaking it.
Greg smiled knowing he had Benji just in the place that he would want him to be in order to make a final strike. The lizard turned his head and looked around, holding a voice in his mouth as he smiled with a sadistic look on his face. While it would be deviously easy to kill Benji and let him bleed out he knew exactly how the Outsiders would handle the shark.
With a spare hand, Greg keep his weight on Benji and formed the wendigo mask, placing it on his head and turning him into the large and menacing beast. He looked up in the sky, in order to make sure that all would hear him.
He let out an ear shattering scream, one that the outsiders would be sure to here. Then he sliced, jumping off of Benji’s body as his neck, spilled out blood flowing out like a river and his voice going away. Suddenly it was a struggle to even breath as blood entered his lungs and filled him up. His death would be slow and painful, he tried to move but was paralyzed even as Greg ran away.
