In which a romantic evening is shared, discussion is had about certain powers and events, a dragon gets playfully smacked in the snout.

Chapter 12

“And explain to me again why you must wiggle in the grass like a dragon possessed?" Lyndis stood, head cocked, arms folded across her chest, lips curled into a smirk.

Cordenth paid her little mind, nuzzling the top of his head against the warm and enchanting plants below him. Be beat them into submission with his playful antics, gently padding his paws against the air. His rumble filled the air as Lyndis leaped over his swaying tail, doing it's best to dislodge her.

“Would you believe its celebrating our time apart from the others?" He ceased his movements, eyeing an upside Lyndis with a critical eye. “I thought we'd never lose them, especially after what I was told, was some form of dancing? I've never seen that sort of head banging from a sane person, and I'd rather not do so again."

“Now mister sir wiggles a lot is going to be judging the siigonis?" She bent down, tapping playfully at his nose, causing it to wiggle back and forth. “Some might call that rude gentle dragon."

“Some might call it accurate! This wiggling is a physical demonstration of my state of mind, like one you humans drawing, singing, or beating things into submission."

“I do believe we call those psychopaths."

“No, the ones with the hammers. Dwarves like to do it do. They craft things."

“You mean blacksmithing? Carpentry?"

“One of those things, but still." He rolled over three times on the hill they found themselves, painted with loving orange strokes from the setting sun. It had been the only secluded spot they could find, free of any prying eyes that might gaze upon the couple and tilt their heads. Now granted he'd have loved to brandish Lyndis as a prize trophy for all to behold, he knew she was much more reserved in such acts. “And instead of getting all judgy on the rolling, you could cast off your metal rods stuck up your butt and join me."

“You want me to collapse and slither around like a beast?" She laughed, “Now I know you've gone mental."

“Oh, I be serious, there can be no question good queen." Cordenth rolled till he lightly tapped her leg, giving the woman he loved the biggest, upside down smile he could muster. Frills fluttering on their own he nuzzled the ground below him, letting forth a great warble that Lyndis had to apply her hands to the underside of his neck and start a most lovely massage. Proud and great as he was, her attentions reduced him to a purring, paw batting at the air mess. Her laughter only made him exaggerate ever more so. When he was finally granted a reprieve he curled upon himself, head tilted, still upside down, looking upon the smiling queen as if she were the most important thing in this world. “If I've gone mental, what's that make you? Really says something about your taste in people."

“Oh behave." She smacked at his belly, lingering on his golden scales with a hushed pause. Something stirred between her ears, slowed her motions. Cordenth was forced to tilt his head up, cock it to the side, eventually huff at her to get her attentions. “Sorry, was distracted."

“Obviously, one needs to do more wiggling in the grass." A playful green paw pushed her down to the grass, “There, step one accomplished." But she wasn't wiggling, she wasn't laughing, Lyndis eyes were staring out to the clouds above.

Amber eyes followed their darkened forms, lingering on the trace glimmers of light that clung to their edges. Only when Cordenth's snout did dominate her gaze, did she lock his snout with both her hands.

“Are you alright?" He asked softly, reading the conflict practically painted upon her face, “I know wiggling is sort of silly for a human, elf as yourself, but I was merely being funn-“

“It wasn't that." Her gentle hand on his lips shushed him, “It was just a thought I had before. Its funny, with everything going on you forget tiny things. Little bits of detail that bubble up at the weirdest times."

“Like how you were jealous of the siigonis woman flirting with me?" He flopped around Lyndis, admiring the sky, “I havn't even remembered her name. Though it warms my heart to think she had a sliver of a chance. None can compare to you Lyndis."

“I wasn't jealous."

“It's alright if you were, I said I was pleased!" He gently batted at her side.

“I'm serious."

“So was I!"

“I forgot to mention that the Queen of Eternal Flame mentioned your mother."

His brow rose, had it been important? “What was it?"

“That she and her were sisters? I mean, part of me dreaded she might have siblings, but to hear it uttered? I don't know what I was bloody thinking at the time, maybe I was in shock?"

“Was that all?" He laughed, trying to put her mind at ease. “I already knew this. Mother told me when we visited her about the visions. She has three siblings actually."

“Good lord, and all of them are as bad as your mother?"

“Don't know." He flopped down, “Maybe this one, but the others couldn't possibly be. You know how she is, manipulating everything to her liking. Not caring about what others think, always doing things for her greater good."

“Isn't that what you're doing?"

“Yea, but its different." He huffed, placing a paw to his chest, “We're doing it the right way. Not going about ruining people's lives, crushing little people that get in the way. We'd make something that actually stuck, instead of being built upon by fear."

“Well…Now I feel rather silly." She flopped against the dragon, nuzzling up to his underside. “Here I was, worrying about it for a bit."

“Now you understand the grass." He rumbled, tapping his snout against the top of her head.

She shot up laughing, “You're only wiggling because the grass itself contains trace amounts of what your brother might call it, 'dragon-nip.'

“I think you're making that up, can't possibly be true." He shifted to his back, paws bent, offering the woman a blep that only made her groan and try to free herself of his presence.

“And again, you try to be cute!"

“Common mistake Lyndis, but dragon's cant be cute." His paw found his chest as he recounted a tale of how dragons could be majestic, grand, long winded, or even awe inspiring, “But they could never be associated with such a common term. It would be unproper."

“Says the dragon currently wiggling his tail in the grass."

“I don't see how that undermines my point Lyndis, pay attention." He laid back, enjoying the rich smell of jasmine that he caught wafting on the air. Eyes did close as Lyndis tried to make her point that he was being cute, but he batted his paw, knowing he'd sour any argument she'd make. Conscious thought drifted peacefully away from earthly concerns, far out to the horizon, through the trees and off to the misty swamp that ever called his name. There a golden pheonix sat at rest for him, it's crimson feathers radiant and without a trace of grime, an unspoiled oasis in his gaze. It's golden eyes beheld him as a beast of legend, bowing its head as his attentions found it.

It beckoned him to join it in the swamp, whispering about rebirth to the winds. Cordenth paused within such a vision, knowing now was not it's time. He heard Lyndis' name calling to him, cutting through the vision like a knife. When he shook himself back to the romantic hill in which he found himself, the rogue was laying chest down upon his, tapping lightly at his snout.

“Enjoy your little nap?"

“I think if your allowed to zone out, so am I." He huffed.

“What was it this time? Another vision? Something letting us know were to go? Gods, I'd kill for something like that, just to know how things turn out."

“But we agreed it was dangerous." His frills pinned, “That doing so-“

“Increases the chance that your grandfather can find you, I know." She rolled her eyes with a sigh, “Still doesn't stop me from wishing it were not so."

“As do I." He rested a paw against her back, holding her close as she listened to his breathing. “But I believe we must head on without that certainty. I mean, look what it did to my mother. Would we want me to end up being another her?"

“Like you as a female?" Lyndis smirked, earning a playful bat against her face.

“You know what I mean." He flopped back, tail thumping against the grass. “All that power, manipulating the future. It's no wonder it's what she's done."

“I mean, you already have one powerful thing to rely on, why double down on that. Speaking of which, today during the festivities. Broxl was awfully chummy with ya, saying all those nice things, defending your pride. Is there something your not telling me about?"

His heart skipped a beat as she held him with suspicion. Words fumbled around between his skull, unable to slither out his maw. He scoffed at her accusation, “Just we had a heart to heart in the temple. You heard the siigonis Lyndis. We saw a dragon being hurt, to him it was a creature from his myths! I think we had a connection there, clearly it means more to him that I thought." He rumbled as her hand started small circulations on his scales, she'd believed the story.

“Alright, just, you have me worried sometimes." Her voice was soft, unsure. Something in need of a green dragon's snout at her cheek.

“You needn't worry about that." He replied, “I would never betray the image you paint of me in your head."

“Then how did we get out of the caves?" Her brow furrowed, “No one said anything to me, but I can sense the unease that lingers around you lot. The bugs around us, all the fighting, I havn't been able to concoct what transpired. Sure there was the story of fighting them off, but come on, even you don't expect me to buy that."

“Lyndis I-“

“The image I paint of you is a dragon that always says what he means, never lies to the one he loves."

She had him there, trapped within those amber eyes. He'd have been amused that a small creature like herself had such power over him, despite there being no logical reason to do so. Under his scrutiny his resistance crumbled, he told her how he'd enchanted the bugs to expediate their escape. “I know you'd be angry, but it needed to be done. You were stung, by the stars I managed to save you and Vishta before you fell to your dooms."

But what he thought of her didn't come to pass. There was no angry shouting, no red cheeks, no demands or looks of disappointment. Lyndis merely nodded with a smile, resting a hand on his snout. “I know it wasn't what we agreed on, but you really came through for us."

When she kissed his snout, warmth exploded through the rest of him. He rumbled and pressed back, curling around the little thing that held his heart in such a vice. “I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Now do you trust me with the responsibility of this power?" Again she nodded, earning a nuzzling and another kiss, sure it was awkward for him, but he ensured it was just as much for her, trying to shove his tongue into her open mouth. She was reduced to sputtering, pulling away as they laughed together at his antics.

“I'm not sure that's how kissing is supposed to work, you shoving your tongue down my throat."

“I suppose we change it then, Issue a proclamation." He smiled, tapping his tail, “I do however demand we do it more…Though if you'd much rather have another appendage…" He laughed as she playfully smacked him on the nose.

She rolled her eyes, “I think this is what, the fourth suggestion of that for today?"

“Please Lyndis, it was the fifth, the fourth time was after you and the others were bamboozled by that magician."

“We all were bamboozled, you tugged at his satchel, demanding how he did the trick."

He smirked, recounting the siigonis' shocked rebuttal. “Well, he eventually listened and told us. Who knew it was nothing more than the slight of the hand."

“We all did." She replied flatly, “Least that went better than the lunch."

“Why did you hate what they offered? I rather liked the stuff they fed us on trays." He closed his eyes, already picturing the fish they'd offered, all raw.

“It was raw."

“And? It adds a delightful crunch if you don't swallow them hole. Hey, that's when I suggested it the second time!"

“I'm so glad you keep track of the times you suggest oral sex."

“I mean it was only fair, you suggested something like that between myself and Veledar. Its all fair game, don't think you're beyond poking fun of just cause you're the queen."

“Yea, because you're like a bloody hound dog!"

“Hound dog am I?" He mused, a mischievous glint in his eye. Her brow rose, suspicion painted on her face.

“Don't you think about it mister."

“Do what? I am innocent as one of your human whelps."

“You're going to lift my bag, and scamper away like a mad fool you are."

She'd guessed it on the first try. The dragon pulled away, feigning his innocence still in the face of such facts. He rose, flaring his nostrils at her as she soaked in his display, never losing that smirk upon her lips. “Is that so? Is that what you think of me?"

“Am I wrong?" Her arms crossed, her satchel of leather completely wide open, he snatched it between his jaws before she could even blink.

“Not in this instance!" He shouted out as he sprinted away in a dash, but it only came out as a muffled murmur that he doubted even with her elven ears she'd have a hard time deciphering.

“See, I knew it. I knew it! Cordenth, get back here, you're going to ruin the stitching!"

But he did not turn back towards his beloved in this little game, no he sent her on an epic quest of no equal, after the green frilled tail of a dragon. He slithered from tree to tree, only stopping to let her close the distance, but when she neared he bolted away in a fit of devious laughter. Scampering to pools of water he crossed in a single bound, wiggling his brow as Lyndis followed with aid from her magic. Through the wetlands they cackled and rumbled, lost in a haze of utter delight. When he tired of this little chase he spat out her satchel, letting his now heavy breathing bride to be, gander at her belongings.

“You got dragon drool all over it!"

“I think that's rather an improvement." He scratched his claws across his chest.

“And teeth marks in the leather? Cordenth, couldn't you have clutched it a tad softer?"

“It was looking at me funny, you know what it's done. Secondly, I pride myself on my bite strength, it's not like your sack of dead cow flesh was as soft as your flesh. I promise in my future stealings of it, I'll be far softer." He curled around her as she eyed him with contempt, yet within her pools lurked the spark of amusement that flicked his own tail.

“There will be future stealings of it?" She rolled her eyes with a sigh. “What could it possibly have done to deserve this?"

“It attacked my brother don't you know, found itself within a terrible gang of satchel brothers. It blackmailed me Lyndis, I was innocent. It's lucky it got off with a warning of teeth marks. But you, no you Lyndis, you're the boss of this dastardly establishment."

“What are you getting on-. Why are you crouching?"

“Because my dear." He gave an evil laugh, pinning his wings and adopting a pose he'd taken all too often with his brother. It was one of chase, he was the hunter, and Lyndis his prey. “You are deserving of a fate much worse than your bag. I will bound after you, subjecting you to much applications of this dragon drool that you find most foul."

“Is that all?" Lyndis replied, seeing through his intent, curling a finger through her hair. “Or will you have to punish me? Pin me down?"

“Very apt choices half-elf, but don't think you can sweet talk your way out of this." He waggled a wing at her, “Now go on, run away make some sport of it. It won't be fun for either of us if you just stand their and take it."

“Well if you insist." The rogue did laugh, whispering words of magic before sprinting off through the scattered trees around them. Warbling in delight, the dragon did give chase, only for the ground below his paws to be replaced with a thick layer of oil. He tumbled to the ground.

“Tricks now?"

“You never said I couldn't!" She called back with a laugh, gaining distance, “Thought you were going to catch me, not sit around on the job!"

Oh how his blood warmed over this playful woman. He chuckled as he pulled himself up to all fours and racing after her like a dragon possessed. With every beat of his paws across the ground his pace quickened, his eyes dilated and locked upon the fluttering clothes of the woman who held him so. Every time she looked back to glance upon him, giggling as she did so, it only made him rumble more, despite the embarrassment she'd inflicted on him. Most perplexing he knew from the outside, but to him, nothing could be more right with this world. With every illusion she tossed to fool him, or trickery that she employed to avoid him, he only found himself more drawn to her. When he finally knocked this nefarious woman to the ground, she was laughing non stop as his forepaws stomped down on either side of her. Without another word he pressed his maw to hers, locking the woman into a most passionate kiss.

He pressed down, she held his snout. The world faded away save their gentle moans and the occasionally swishing of grass from his tail, that ever had the mind of it's own. The flickers of warmth that had started with this whole affair, were now a raging fire within his chest. It reached out to every part of him as her fingers slid salaciously down his scales and she seemed to be dueling for supremacy with her tongue. He was naturally winning of course. When they parted from one another, a cloud of lust had wrapped it's hands around each of them, keeping the lovers but inches from one another.

Lyndis smirked, gazing up into the eyes of this powerful beast that adored her, leaning to catch sight of the proof of his attraction. “Looks as though you've slipped free of yourself my gentle dragon."

“How could I not?" He played along, chuckling softly, “When the jewel of my thoughts stokes the fires of my heart so expertly?"

“Funny way of saying you want to fuck."

“Well, you were the one to say it." He rolled his eyes, giving her a kiss. “But I think those fires burn just as bright within you."

“You…might be right." She played coy, scratching the underside of his scaled chin. “What would you do about it? You've chased me down, subjected me to a kiss. What next?"

“Oh…I think we both know where this goes." The dragon shifted his size, something more accommodating of their current predicament. He again crossed tongues with her, stroking gently her side. Moaning together, squirming in the grass, he clutched tight her trousers. Finesse with his claws wasn't something he could saw he possessed, he struggled to shift the irksome clothing. With flaring frills he eventually tore himself away from the lips of his seductress that had him wrapped around his finger to give a death stare to the article of cloth that held the night's activities at bay.

“Having problems with mere trousers?" Lyndis giggled, cheeks red.

“I do think if you want your trousers off without them being torn to shreds, you'll take them off for me my queen." He grinned mischievously, “Though I imagine you being bottomless for the rest of our ventures is amusing, I doubt it will be very practical."

As if to counter his nature, the queen's eyes glossed over with far more nefarious intent than even he would have wanted. She held him close, kissing upon his snout, giving all the signs that would guarantee his success. However as she parted she had but one reply, “But I wish to hear you beg."

“Excuse me?" He tried to tilt his head, but found it held tight between two vice like hands. “You want me to do what?"

“And add please for good measure." She tapped between his nostrils, “We do know how you like to hold your gentledragon status in such high regards."

“I should ravish you for making such a demand." He playfully growled, holding her tight.

“Would you now? But only if you say please."

“Fine." He sighed, rolling his eyes. “Would you remove your trousers so that I may ravish you…please."

Those eyes didn't waver in their convictions, nor looked as though they were swayed by his halfhearted words. Lyndis' arms crossed, “Lets try that again, put some more emotion in it, like you mean it."

“I swear you're trying to see how far I'll take this until I shred your garments to mere slivers. But to show you my sincerity I'll play this." He rose high with as much regal nature as he could provide, reciting off her words perfectly. When his snout returned to observe his handiwork, she'd already gone through the trouble of removing her garment. It stilled his tongue as the rogue spread herself for him with a coy, alluring smirk.

“See, there's a good lad. Now I think you mentioned something about me taking something?"

Rumbling the dragon moved into position, Lyndis' hips maneuvered to fit around his. She laughed as he maneuvered into position, her soft flesh rubbing against his firm scales. He shared with her a most passionate kiss as they tried, in unison, to shift himself into her. The next few moments were filled with gentle kisses, warming frills, and honest laughter over several misses of the intended target.

“I do believe this is harder than I thought. And you humans do this all the time?"

“To be fair, its easier with a more…Humanoid body type." Lyndis cooed, kissing his cheek. “There another way that's better?"

He nodded, holding her firmly with his paws and flipping the rogue onto all fours. There she stood, naked, waiting for him to have at her. Her nuzzled along her neck, whispering how beautiful she looked, he got a sway of her hips in reply. It appeared as though the time for talk was done. Very well. He climbed upon her with practiced grace, as she was a dragoness from their previous time. Her body burned against his own, ever so warm that he never wanted to part from her. With a gentle lick across her neck, he relished how she shivered, clearly enjoying the experience. Holding her firm he found his mark, easing himself into her.

Hissing and groaning they bucked against one another, trapped in a realm of passion only a few might share. Theirs was a song of utter bliss, punctuated by the sounds of their lovemaking. He held her tight, drinking in every quiver, every pleasurable moan that she unleashed for him to hear. She welcomed every bit of him, caressed him like no other, every moment he was within an entire state of being. Together their rhythm became ever faster, words turning into mere grunts and moans. They became animalistic, pounding against one another, threatening to rip the ground asunder. As he battered her with his entirety, she begged for more. How could he deny such a siren's call? Eyes clenched tight he lashed his tail, fulfilling her request.

The end of their dance came with unkept hair, sweat, the rapid bucking of a dragon's hips. It came with a thunderous cry from each of them, calling out the other's names to the wind. Their souls seemed to intertwine, everything melted away save this solitary moment of serenity. Pulled back by the beating of each other's hearts, they were left, stuck together, at the mercy of Cordenth's biology.

“And yet, I always forget this part." Lyndis chuckled, sweeping the hair from her face.

“But is it bad?" The dragon mused, flexing his intimate muscles, enjoying how his mate squirmed with a pleased groan. When she did the reverse, it was his turn for eyes to clench, still ever sensitive. “You enjoy that too much."

“Maybe." She giggled, motioning for him to lay down with her.

Awkwardly they accomplished it with little fuss, but it did bring about a few more joyous laughs. They were left laying against one another, his paw held tightly over her, pulling the human he loved close against his chest. His wing draped over like as they enjoyed the closeness, watching as the sun seemed to offer it's parting, orange wave over the horizon.

“How long do you think it will last this time?" Lyndis sighed sweetly, resting her head against his paw.

“Does it matter? I enjoy the cuddling after."

“Only because you're buried in my tw-“

“Shhh…You'll ruin the romance." He chuckled, playfully putting a paw over her lips. “Who needs that kind of lewd talk." When she gave him a steeled look, he flexed his hips again. “What? I'm not totally innocent. Now lay back, relax, and enjoy the view."

For a time silence held them both in it's grip, only broken by the sounds of their shallow breaths and the gentle whisper of the winds. Sunlight waved farewell as it crept steadily down the horizon, it's red-orange hues shifting to purples and blacks. Above the stars started to peer out from their hiding places, winking ever knowingly to the pair. He nuzzled her, heart threatening to leap from his chest as he held the thing in this world he cherished most. It was almost startling to him, this grand beast of legend, to be held in sway by something so insignificant and lesser. He told himself it was because of how great he was, but to Lyndis he put it more elegantly, “Of all the things I have gazed upon on this earth, none compare to how I see you now." His paw caressed the side of her head, fragile, beautiful, needing his protective wings. “Know that my soul burns for you Lyndis, may the stars themselves weep at my love for you."

Yet even to this proclamation, Lyndis only looked troubled. She shied away under his gaze, not reciprocating such a joyous statement. She had the love of a dragon! She should be thrilled, honored, beholden to him that a divine creature such as he even considered her worthy of his affections!

“Try to hold in your excitement." His brow furrowed as he laid against the ground, noting it's chill for the first time since their mating. “I mean, it's only my love for you."

“That's rather unfair, you springing something of that nature upon me."

“Springing?" He scoffed, “You've known since my mother's forest, you said it then. What's changed between now and then?" He searched her up and down, noting how the rogue bit at her lip.

“Because-“ She sighed, “This time I'm not going to lie to you."

“You lied to me before!" His frills pinned, nostrils flared, he thumped his tail for good measure. “You mean to tell me that your feelings for me have not been reciprocated? This entire time? Are there more lies that havn't tumbled out of your-“

The troubled look she gave stilled his tongue, swept away the building fire within him as easily as a storm. Her hands gently found his paws, holding them delicately to her breasts, massaging them as she stared out to the horizon. When she spoke her voice was shaky, uncertain, but not a hint of lies about them.

“No, I told you what you wanted to hear then. Was it right for me to do so? Probably not, but you sprung it on me then, sent my head for a spin. What did you want me to say? Spoil our time together?"

“No I-“ He caressed her trembling side, curling around her.

“I don't want to jinx it alright? Too many times you say those words and things shatter, leaving you with nothing but bitterness and a hole in your heart. You die bit and bit by a time, that by the time you find something pure, good, your not sure of it. It's confusing, how could something fit so well? You think yourself mad, how could you not be?" She turned to him, holding his paw tight, “I'm not ready to say it, but don't you dare think I think less of ya. You make me mad, my heart race out, want to pull my hair out at times, drive me up the wall-“

“This isn't sounding rom-“

“But that's good, and scary, and all the other words to use. I'm happy for the first time in awhile in something like this…And I just don't want to ruin it." When his snout dipped, she held it tenderly, “Know I'm not going anywhere in the interim."

He nodded, giving her a gentle nuzzle. Truly it touched him that she would be this open with him, vulnerable. The dragon held her ever closer, wrapping his wings around her when she shivered, becoming her guardian from the cold. “When you say you're not going anywhere, it's because of my knot right?"

She playfully smacked him on the paw.
