Hoofs on the Roof

The characters of Sid Stonem, Holly and Raman Oak and Kaneda Petrov belong to me.
Our story begins in the busy town of Marevalley, England, where we see a male teenage gorilla, making his way through a busheling crowd of anthros. The silverback has light grey skin and spikey jet-black fur. He wears a black leather jacket along with a white t-shirt, dark blue jeans and black and white trainers (what you American furs call sneakers). The gorilla’s name is Sid and today he is seeing his best friend Raman who lives in Marevalley.
SID: (Thinks to himself)
“I so regret traveling through town during a football game. These crowds are a nightmare. Why did I wait this long?”
As he bushels his way through the crowd, the ape begins to consider whether he should reveal his true feelings towards Raman today. For quite some time he’d been crushing on the Reindeer and wanted to get it off his chest.
*Of course, Sid was worried about the thought of rejection, though at the same time he was ready for disappointment. Attempted relationships had never really worked out for him in the past, but this time Sid felt strangely optimistic that things would work out with Raman. The reindeer was usually laid back, loved a drink and had plenty of things in common with him. *
SID: (thinks to himself)
*“When I find the right moment, I’ll tell Raman my true feelings I have for him.” *
Eventually Sid is able to make his way out of the crowd and shortly arrives at Raman’s house/apartment. After knocking at the door, Sid is shortly greeted by a beautiful female Reindeer by the name of Holly. Holly’s ice white fur and dyed emerald green hair makes her stand out from most girls he’s seen in their 40’s. Heck, she almost looks like a punk rock girl, in her late 20’s. The ape reckoned it was her strict vegetarian diet that kept her youth intact.
*HOLLY: “Hi, there Sidney. How are you finding college?” *
*SID: “Oh it’s alright. I’ve been able to catch up with my course work and I’m starting my FMP. My final major project in my art course.” *
The adult reindeer smiles warmly.
“I’m glad to hear that. I remember Raman telling me that the course was stressing you out a bit. But it’s good to know that you’ve sorted it out.”
SID: “How is Raman?”
HOLLY: “Oh he’s fine. He’s ahead with his work and has hardly been having any trouble with it. By the way Raman is in his room and he’s looking forward to seeing you.”
SID: “Ay, I’m sure he is. Besides I’m his best friend in the whole wide world and I think he is pretty cool!”
** Sid leaves his trainers on the mat before he makes his way through the apartment where he reaches Raman’s bedroom. The ape then gently knocks at the door.**
*VOICE: “Come on in dude!” *
*Sid enters Raman’s bedroom to find the reindeer and along with another male reindeer that he has never seen before. Raman wears his usual attire of dark green shorts and a black tatty leather waistcoat vest. Around his head he wears a grey head band, that keeps he brown hair out of his eyes. The other reindeer that sits on the bed has a similar colour scheme to Raman of chestnut brown fur with a cream coloured muzzle. However, his spikey yellow hair and both his antlers on his head, that look as they been broken off, set him apart from Raman. The stranger Reindeer wears a sand coloured shirt and a grey pair of jeans. *
RAMAN: “I’m glad you could make it brother. I’ve have plenty to tell ya. Also, I ought to introduce you to my cousin, Kaneda.”
Smiling the yellowed hair reindeer gets up from the bed and holds out his hoof like hand for Sid to shake.
KANEDA: “It’s honour to meet you Comarda. You are Sid right? My cousin has told me plenty about you.”
(AN: Since Kaneda is from Russia, I made him speak in broken/basic English)
SID: “Your more than welcome dude. Besides I love meeting new furs.”
The ape shakes the reindeers hoof warmly before he says
“Say are you from Russia?”
KANEDA: “I sure am. I was born there, and I lived there my whole life. Why you ask?”
*SID: “Oh it’s your accent. Russia sounds like a real interesting country to live in. Especially with your current president and your new technology I hear about on the news.” *
KANEDA: “Your country interesting as well. I like your city London. Want to see video of me?”
SID: “Um sure. Out of interest may I ask what your doing in that video?”
KANEDA: “It’s a surprise comrade! You for see yourself.”
*Raman plugs in a purple digital camera to his tv. Shortly on the tv screen, a video begins to play of a reindeer standing on top of what looks to be an old clock tower. Then Sid recognises the Reindeer to be Kaneda and is stunned when Kaneda slides down the roof of the tower and leaps over to a roof to nearby. Sid begins to feel his palms go sweaty and feel his heart skip several beats as he watches the reindeer hanging from the edge of the tower and making his way along the drain pipe as though it was monkey bars. *
SID: “How on earth are you able to do this? Do you get scared at all?”
He feels sick to his stomach from fear.
In the response Kaneda shrugs.
KANEDA: “It fun. I no scared as I born without fear?”
SID: (Thinks to himself)
“Well these types of furs do exist.”
*The three furs continue watching the video, which includes clips of Kaneda climbing unsupported to the top of a water tower then to the top of a large monument shaped like a cat’s head. Sid could barely look at the TV screen when he saw Kaneda hang from the very edge of a large crane that was located at the top of a tall building in the city of Shanghai. *
By the end of the video Sid felt breathless. Raman gives him a friendly nudge.
RAMAN: “You good brother?”
SID: “Yeah, I’m am good. I’m just amazed how your cousin can do all this.”
** RAMAN: “He tells me that it’s instinct. Anyways, if you want to watch his videos again, they are all on this blog sight he has.”**
Raman shows Sid his smart phone with a funny looking blog website on the screen. All the text/wrighting on the webpage looks to be in Russian. Soon enough Sid recognises pictures of Kaneda near his chosen buildings to clamber on.
*KANEDA: “It how I make my fame. It my life career.” *
SID: “Kaneda, is what you do legal?”
*KANEDA: “It legal in my country. I no get in trouble there. Besides, in different country I never get caught.” *
*SID: “Fair enough.” *
RAMAN: “Now you’ve seen his videos, would you be for helping us film one?”
SID: “Err, what do you mean. Explain.”
RAMAN: “Well Kaneda has come to England for a reason, and that reason is a bit of climbing.”
KANEDA: (sounding excited)
“Big red crane at top of mall! That’s where I climb!”
*Sid’s mind drifts back to a crane he remembers seeing at the very top of the mall shopping centre in town. *
SID: “Oh my God! Are you serious!”
*The ape can hardly believe his ears. *
KANEDA: “I serious comrade!”
*RAMAN: “Relax Siddy, we’ve got this all planned out. We just need you as an extra cameraman. Kaneda will pay you for your troubles.” *
SID: “Alright how much?”
KANEDA: “How fifty pounds sound?”
SID: “That sounds good mate, but are you sure nothing will go wrong?”
Deep down the ape feels worried for Kaneda’s safety.
RAMAN: “Like I’ve said we’ve got this all planned out. I guarantee you that nothing will go wrong. Besides, there was a time when I visited him in Russia and I filmed him climbing on the roof tops of a building. It’s real fun I tell ya as well as a thrilling experience.”
SID: “Okay, so how are we going to get this filmed?”
*RAMAN: “Well I’m thinking that at the dead of night we sneak outside and make are way to the town mall. Then we will climb are way to the top of the building via some scaffolding, that I remember seeing. Then once we reach the crane, all we need to do is film and let Kaneda do his climbing.” *
SID: “What if the CCTV catch’s us?”
RAMAN: “We will wear masks, just like in that game Hotline Miami, I play on my PSP.”
SID: “You know as crazy as this sounds, now I’m kinda hyped for this.”
*The concept of sneaking out late at night and exploring a place that you shouldn’t, now seemed somewhat exciting to Sid, though likely through instinct. *
KANEDA: “That normal comrade!”
RAMAN: “We’ve got hours to kill before we go climbing. Let’s play some melee on the game cube.”
*SID: “Sure, so long as I get to be Captain Falcon.” *
** *************
*In the dead of night (around 2 in the morning) the trio sneak out of the apartment and into the deserted town centre. To distort their appearances, Kaneda wears a rooster mask, whilst Raman wears a wolf mask and Sid has chosen a rabbit mask to wear. *
SID:
(thinks to himself)
“It sure is wired seeing this place at night, it’s just like a ghost town.”
RAMAN: “There’s are way in guys!”
He points his paw at a construction site in the distance.
SID: “How do we get in again? I can’t see an entrance.”
RAMAN: “Simples, we jump the fence.”’
Sid helps the two reindeers by giving them a leg up over the wire fence, before he clambers over the fence himself, since after all, gorillas are natural climbers. Next the trio make their way to a scaffolding which leads up to the roof car park of the shopping mall.
*Sid and Raman carefully make there way along the structure, keeping a firm hand (or hoof for that matter) on the railing for support, whilst on the other hand Kaneda is more adventurous. He begins to clamber up the scaffolding pipes as though he was a hyperactive young cub, full of energy and with no care in the world on a jungle gym at a playground. Sid keeps on glancing up at Kaneda, with a look of concern on his face. *
RAMAN: “He’s just getting warmed up for the main event!”
SID: “I sure hope nothing goes wrong.”
The scaffolding eventually leads them to the top of a large car park. As they approached the crane that was firmly perched on the roof, Sid was shocked by its immense size. Easily 50 meters long, it extended into the starry night sky like an exclamation point. Its bright red framework was strengthened by a series of platforms at various points. From the sky end of the boom an attachment was suspended which looked like a giant set of grippers, possibly used to help move materials around. On the other end of the boom, a hulking mass of metal and gears rested on the roof of the building, which would sure provide a challenge to the trio.
Reaching the crane, Kaneda removes his rubber mask.
KANEDA: “I see no camera’s in sight, it safe to do so.”
SID:
(Thinks to himself as he removes his mask)
“Finally, a good idea from Kaneda. I can’t believe I’ve agreed to this. Oh, yeah I’m hopefully getting paid!”
*The harnesses that Kaneda gives them, seem sturdy. The body straps seem to be made of leather and the bungie cord is made of a springy elastic. *
RAMAN: “Need any help with your harness Siddy?”
SID: “Yeah, I sure do mate.”
*The ape keeps still whilst his reindeer friend fastens the harness around his waist. After making sure the restrains are secure, they set up their film camera’s to night vision mode, in order to capture the action on camera. Next, they begin their climb, towards the starry abyss. *
*Sid and Raman take their time up the crane, one hand (or hoof) on the metal frame work, whilst their other hands hold their camera secure. In contrast Kaneda makes his way up the crane as though his Spider Dog (AN humans don’t exist in my universe) Sid soon finds himself paranoid but focuses on filming and minding his footing. Incredibly Kaneda is able to reach the end of the crane in just under 10 minutes, when Raman and Sid have barely made it half way. *
Sid and Raman watch Kaneda who stands as still as a statue at the very end of the crane. Kaneda gazes up at the luminous yellow moon almost as though he’s hypnotised.
SID: “Is he ok?”
RAMAN: “Oh, Kaneda’s fine. He’s just having one of his moments. It’s not unusual for him to gaze out into space after climbing to the top of a high building.”
SID: “Maybe he’s enjoying the scenery?”
RAMAN: “He could be, dude.”
For several minutes the two mammal’s stair out into the pitch-black sky, dotted with golden stars. There is complete silence.
SID: (thinks to himself)
“Maybe whilst the goings good, I should tell Raman how I feel about him. To hell with it! I’ll tell him now!”
Sid clears his throat before he breaks the silence, saying
“This sky is beautiful but nowhere near as beautiful as you, Raman.”
The reindeer blushes slightly and grins.
RAMAN: “Thanks, beautiful is my middle name.”
SID: “Have you been seeing any one new lately?”
RAMAN: “What do you mean man?”
SID: “Oh, what I mean is, are you currently in a relationship with someone?”
RAMAN: “Nah, not really. For the past couple months, I’ve been single.”
SID: “That’s great! Because I was wondering if you’d like to hang out for a meal at pizza Empire. Though of course when we are finished with college.”
RAMAN: “You mean like a date?”
SID: “Yeah, I hope you’re ok with me asking…”
In response the Reindeer smiles and looks at him as though he understands everything.
“Sure, I’d love that! You know Pizza Empire happens to be one of my favourite restaurants in town.”
Sid breathes a sigh of relief.
“That’s great to know! I was fearing you’d refuse. Ever since that time we got hammered at the skate park and well…. You know what, I’ve kind of developed feelings for ya.”
*In short, several weeks ago the two of them made out in a drunken state in an underground car park. They had told not a single sole about it. Not even their best mate Harley the house cat. *
*RAMAN: “That’s understandable, since after all, I am an attractive mammal.” *
SID: “If we where to become a couple, do you think things will work out between us?”
The apes voice burns with curiosity.
RAMAN: “I’m sure they will mate.”
He smiles at Sid, who grins back at him.
Several stories from the ground, with complete silence under a starry moon lit sky, seems like a very romantic location. An idea slowly tiptoe’s into Sid’s head.
SID: “Can I kiss you?”
RAMAN: “Sure.”
*Holding onto the crane tightly Sid leans forward and presses his mouth close to the reindeer’s lips/muzzle. He feels Raman’s wet tongue against his own and his warm breath that tasted of tobacco. After what seemed like ages, the two mammals finally parted. *
SID: “Now that was pretty epic.”
RAMAN: “Indeed! I suppose it’s not everyday you get to kiss on top of a crane.”
*Suddenly Kaneda calls down to them, startling them both *
“Hey! Check this out comrade!”
SID: “Holy crap!”
The ape is some what alarmed and yet amazed as he watches the teenage deer slide down the cranes centre railing, all the way to the bottom. Kaneda is skilfully able to slow himself down by grabbing on to a red bar of the cranes structure, before he jumps and skilfully lands on the concrete ground of the car park. The two mammals watch Kaneda wave back to them.
SID: “Did you get that on camera buddy?”
RAMAN: “I did indeed! Now let’s make are way, down shall we? We can’t stay up here forever.”
*Despite having their safety harnesses on to support them, they made there way down from the crane slowly and carefully. *
KANEDA: “You both take long time comrades!”
SID: (sounds annoyed)
*“Because we’re not experienced climbers like you, comrade!” *
RAMAN: “Argue later you two!”
Raman hands his cousin the cameras.
“You best check the footage Kaneda and see if everything is up to your standers, just in case we need to reshoot anything.”
After spending a solid 10 minutes browsing through the filmed footage, Kaneda gives a nod of approval.
KANEDA: “This all good comrades. We go home now.”
SID: (thinks to himself)
*“Finally, a sane dissention for once. I though I’d never see the light of day.” *
Their journey back down is seemingly routine, though they proceed with caution down the scaffolding. Even the daredevil Kaneda treads lightly, not wanting to make a slip up after his intense performance.
Once they reach the building sight down below, Sid helps them clamber over the fence before he climbs over himself.
They then walked briskly through town back to Raman’s place. As the approach the door Raman says
“If my mother asks us where we’ve been, just say that we couldn’t sleep, went out for a fag and had a little wander around town.”
*Thankfully for their convenience Holly had been sound asleep the whole time, they’d been out. Back in Raman’s bedroom Sid and Kaneda crash out on their mattresses, whilst Raman rests on his king-sized bed. *
KANEDA: “Tomorrow we go London and I climb on building there.”
RAMAN: “What building you got in mind cuz?”
*KANEDA: “Big Ben look fun and so do London Eye or maybe one of sky scrapers I seen in magazine.” *
SID: (yawning)
“Let’s sleep on it?”
RAMAN: (yawns louder)
“Yeah let’s.”
In a short amount of time Kaneda is asleep, however Sid and Raman lay awake.
SID: (whispers)
“I’m glad I told you that I fancied you and all. Because maybe you could be my special someone.”
RAMAN: “Hopefully I am, and I’d honestly love to be. You’re one of the nicest and funniest guys I’ve know in my life. Now we best rest up, especially if we are going London tomorrow.”
Sid then whispers,
“Ok good night bro.”
The ape lets out a yawn before cocooning himself in his blankets.
RAMAN: “Good night dude, sleep well.”
Just as Sid is settling down he feels Ramans soft muzzle press against his forehead.
SID: (thinks to himself)
“That’s very good of him indeed. A good night kiss always helps me sleep well.”
*Minutes later, Sid and Raman are sound asleep. *
