A Respite Met With Hope [Part III]

Story by Alex Nightmurr on SoFurry

Harry is through the void, and is met with a new friend. He takes a moment to reflect and question, and consult with the creature.

Author's Note:

Being introduced to something new is not easy.

Why is Harry there? And who does he meet?

Ooh, rhetorical questions! Gotta love those.

Well, here it is.

Longer than Part II and I plan to keep it at this consistency now.

I had a lot of fun writing this, especially now that I've got a few characters and things planned that are yet to come.

Enjoy and don't forget to follow for more!

How long was I drifting in space? It was like an endless dream... It didn't feel any different than a good night's sleep. Now, here I am... But, where exactly?

"Esix", said the same even-toned voice from before. It was so sudden, that it startled me... And forced my eyes open.

I was expecting a blinding flash of light, but instead it was just comfortable darkness - like the lights are turned off.

Is that person reading my mind?

"Hey", the voice says again, "Look up.", I look up, and I am greeted by a strange looking creature... That looked very much like a sergal. I thought such a creature was a mere fantasy! He had jet black fur and hair, with orange streaks on his fur and across his head.

He looked at me curiously, his eyes shining underneath the moonlight reflected in this strange, black tiled room.

"Hello there human", said the black sergal.

Despite all that happened, his voice brought peace to me. It was a calming, resonating sound which made my heart melt... Or in this case, lower the rate at which it beats... I was unsure and worried where I might end up. But now, hearing that comforting voice, it brings me back to my senses and in more control than just a mindless human drifting through empty space unwillingly.

The sergal motioned a hand towards me, encouraging me to take it.

I did so and has hand felt warm and fuzzy much like the vibe I got off him.

Nevertheless, I was back on two feet again.

I felt a little dizzy after the blood was returning to other parts of my body instead of just my head... Suddenly, I feeling of dread and worry hung over me.

"You needn't worry", says the sergal. "I am here to guide you, and answer your questions human." Again, it was like he could read my mind.

I wanted to say something, but I only managed a whisper - my voice raspy.

"Ah, a drink sir?", the sergal asked. I nodded in return, briefly pausing to debate whether he could understand human interactions or not. Thankfully, my worry has been proven unnecessary yet again, as he smiles warmly and returns almost instantly with a glass of water.

I drink the water, tasting quite purer than what it usually would do at home... Home. Would I ever go back? My friends, and family... Will they notice that I have gone? I sob pathetically, my face breaking into despair as I think of these horrible outcomes.

My sob quickly turns into a cry which I turn myself into.

Whilst mourning, I feel the sergal kneeling down to me and cupping my face in his fuzzy paws...

The feeling stopped my onslaught of sadness immediately. It was there again, the warm, kindness - the hope. "Oh, I am most terribly sorry my human.", the creature's eyes glinting a slight bit of sadness, and care.

Moments later...

================================================

I walk aimlessly around the room, with the sergal by my side, examining the various structures and architecture of the room.

The room was covered in a marble, black floor. It is accompanied by the semi-circle structure of the room where, at the the top, there are several white marble pillars which are divided equally across the distance of this elegant room.

The floor felt fresh and cold underneath my bare feet.

"My name is Ray", said the sergal. "I am... Most curious of your kind."

I felt slightly flattered and honored that he would think of me in such a way.

"I am a sergal, as you know, and I possess powers others do not.", Ray explained, taking time to think of how to phrase his next answer... I took the time as an advantage to examine his body which was skinny similar to mine, but with a more muscular aspect to his proportions it seemed. He was also quite tall, around 6 something foot. I blushed slightly, mentally noting to myself that he is quite handsome and young-looking.

He was wearing velvet purple colored robes which clung to him surprisingly... They looked a little too small for him. On purpose? Either way, it was good eye candy...

My humor is returning... Proof I am getting more emotionally stable, but I still have questions unanswered.

His voice yet again broke me out of my trance; "Its hard to explain this all to you... But-" He glanced at me quickly, frowning his brow, and then a quirky smile appeared on his face. Could he see me looking at him? Oh, crap! He reads minds right? He could've heard me thinking about him... How embarrassing.

"How about you ask the questions, first eh? No doubt I have a lot to answer for."

Aaaandd that's it, folks!

This one came out a little late because I was doing some extra planning for this character and the world behind the scenes.

No doubt you'll hate me for ending the chapter like this, but never fear! The next part will be up soon. And I mean soon, not in a week or so. Hopefully within a few days.

Thank you so much for reading!
