February
A melancholy seasonal narrative constructed from five tankas.
February
Snow falls like petals /
Over your soft countenance /
Framing your beauty /
Spring comes only to see you /
And weeps joyful rains of tears /
Your footpaws blooming /
As lush green meadows quicken /
At your lovely laugh /
Summer creeps close so slowly /
Breezing warmly through your fur /
Even soaked, your scent /
A fragrance to wear daily /
By sunset seasides /
Autumn brings with it the cold /
Though your paw in mine brings warmth /
Your coat remains thin /
But worries carry like leaves /
Already fallen /
Yet when winter wakes again /
My heart breaks as you do not /
You're cold as ice, now /
Frozen in time and my mind /
Still amid the snow /
The wind and I are howling /
Left mourning February.
