Chapter 3

Date: August 27, 2741

Doctor Levin looked over the reports from the rest of the night as he road the elevator down to the laboratory and took a deep, steadying, breath. Apparently Liddy had gone silent, and the anomalies inside of her had suddenly stopped and she was now rigid as a rock sitting in the corner of her cage. The team had reported multiple low frequency waves coming from the anomalies as well as her own mind. Possibly telepathy which, in this big universe, they had only came across once with a lesser native species on some backwater planet. The door opened and he stepped out to another team of scientists monitoring the experiments and Liddy herself. "So, anything new since last night?" He asked as he walked into the enclosed room.

One of the Doctors, young Human Male, brown hair, teal eyes, and fair skin, his name tag read Ryan Stentsky. He turned away from his duty station and nodded towards Doctor Levin. "Currently, nothing new. However the test subjects seem to have calmed down." He told Levin.

Levin stared at him for a moment then asked, "Calmed down? Ever since they were infected they never stopped screaming, scratching the cage let alone banging on it. So what? They've suddenly just quieted?"

Ryan nodded in acknowledgement. "Yes sir, it's been a very quiet morning. Personally I am enjoying the silence." He turned back to his duty station and began typing up a report.

"Any word from Rear Admiral Whitcomb?" Levin asked. Watching the man closely.

"His last report was that he was holding a sizeable force over the planet. Preparation for a Lothian attack Doctor Levin." Ryan said.

"A Lothian Attack?" Levin said, disbelievingly. "You mean we may soon be under attack?"

"Yes sir. Monitoring Stations on the outskirts of the city has detected a Lothian fleet heading in. Current trajectory puts them on a heading for the planet, more ships are starting to pour in by the hour in preparation for the fight. Majority of non-essential personnel on board the station are being evacuated further in system, possibly to the Epsilon Eridani System for protection. Same for the planet." Ryan told him. "The Rear Admiral told us to be ready to leave as well and has asked we pack up a few of the specimens for transport in the event that his force is unable to stop the attack and the station takes damage. We evacuate and move over to Yurin Station." A few doctors moved passed Ryan with a few containers holding a few of the Parasites. "Their current prediction is the force will arrive within the next two days." Ryan finished as he saved his file and uploaded it to the main hard drive then pulled that out.

Levin nodded "Very well, we do what we have to. I'm certain you already have key subjects being moved to a transport vessel. I will stay as long as I can. You take the specimens out of here, if I do not make it out of here, you assume control Doctor Stentsky." He told the man. Ryan nodded an affirmative as he moved about the room loading a few of the necessary equipment to help maintain the subjects in cryo-stasis. Levin hoped they wouldn't have to leave this station, but it was always good to be prepared.

...................

For the last few days, Kyle and Jack had enjoyed each others company. Seeing a movie, dinner, dancing at the club, and a few lovely nights together but with the report of the incoming Lothian force Jack wasn't certain he wanted to stay. The Avius wasn't fully repaired yet but it was put as one of the priorities to finish for the team to get done. His ship alone could hold at least eight people and possibly two hundred pounds of equipment and whatever those eight brought with them. But then there was Kyle. Jack had been feeling amazing with Kyle, far better than he had with any other man he had been with. A part of him wanted to stay with Kyle, here. He wasn't wanting to leave due to his work here. He had been asked to remain on the station to help load the weapons and assist with debris removal using the machines he had used at his work. Of course Kyle took it up and promised to remain behind to help the station with the coming battle and wouldn't hear it from Jack. He took a deep breath to calm the swirling emotions within himself. Why did he have to fall for a man like Kyle when he had been with so many like him?! He stood on a walkway overlooking the bay, stacks and rows of containers holding foods, goods, and ammo as well as weapons for the station and multiple tall towers holding magnetic arms moved about above the containers grabbing hold of them and moving them to where they had to go. The sounds of machinery and yelling filling the space. Above them was a steel window fixture where he could see dozens, if not hundreds of ships taking off and out the viewport near him he could see hundreds of ships begin to flicker with Pseudo motion as they jumped to safety. Over and around the planet there were dozens of warships with fighters moving all over them in a protective pattern and orbital stations with large ARC's on top of them powering up for the coming battle. Jack bit his lower lip and gave out a little whimper. The Avius would be done within the next few hours, at least to the point where she could fly and escape if need be. Her claws which her hooked to her underbelly could be used to help remove debris from the entry port and around the station as well as ammunition on it that the station could use.

Was he really thinking of staying and helping the station over a man?! He shook his head then took several more deep breaths. Yes, he was going to stay behind to help the station as well as evacuate anyone if the battle went into the wrong direction. Especially Kyle. He walked down the walkway to a terminal and tapped in a few commands. A human face appeared on the screen. "This is Aura Station control, can I help you?"

Jack cleared his throat. "This is Jack Lockhart, Commander of the Privateer vessel Avius. I am going to remain behind to assist in the efforts for the coming battle sir." He said.

The man nodded. "Understood Mr. Lockhart, from what i see here your ship would be best suited for rescue missions as well as debris removal. You'll be attached with the dock crew in getting the station ready as well as rescue efforts in the event that it is needed." He said to Jack then the screen went blank. Jack shuddered and nodded. He made up his mind. No backing out now. For the last few hours he helped the dock crew load and unload containers from multiple vessels and had to use a tow vessel to move a few damaged ships that wouldn't be ready to go out of the way for the vessels waiting to leave with passengers. He watched as they took off and left the station. When the day was over he went over to the office Kyle should be in and knocked on the door.

Kyle answered it and looked surprised at Jack. "I thought the Avius would be ready to go by now and that you'd leave." He said disbelievingly that Jack had remained.

"I volunteered to stay and the Avius will be ready in the next hour or so. Wanted to come check up on you." Jack said rubbing a paw up and down his arm, his ears flattened. "I.....didn't want to leave you here alone Kyle."

He looked down and closed his eyes and then felt Kyle's body press against his and hold him in a hug. "You didn't have to Jack." He said to him. "But thank you.". Jack nodded and looked up at Kyle's eyes and smiled. Kyle smiled in return and kissed him deeply. "Why don't you come to my place for the night?" He asked. "For a little fun Jack, before tomorrow." Jack nodded silently as Kyle let him go then held his paw. "Let's go." Kyle said as he lead him out of the dock and down a few streets to a small apartment he owned. It was cozy, a small living room with an even smaller kitchen and a decent sized living room with a TV hooked into the wall playing the news stations and a run down couch facing it. They sat down on the couch and watched as reports came in of mass panic on the planet as people scrambled to get on board evacuation ships as well as a lecture from the Rear Admiral in charge, Whitcomb, explaining that they expect the forces they had to be able to hold back the coming attack then back down to the major storm systems moving about the planet as well as a last report that the stations would be going off air and then silence.

Kyle turned the TV off and took a deep breath, they were both tense and scared of what was coming. Sure Jack had faced off against Pirates, but Lothians? He had only encountered them once and it was the stuff of horrors. He watched as they blew through the defenses and then started bombarding the planet with no remorse, no holding back. The only difference in this situation was the defense force that was in position. They held each other tightly and cuddled on the couch, both hearts thumping loudly. Jack looked at Kyle and smiled. "If....If one or both of us end up not making Kyle....I wanted to-"

Kyle broke him off with a kiss. "I enjoyed the last few days with you Jack." He said. "And we are going to make it." He held both of Jack's paws as tears crept into his eyes. "We will make it." He said again as he pulled Jack close and kissed him deeply. He stood up after a few minutes and pulled Jack along to his bed where he laid on his back and let Jack crawl on top of him. "Let's just enjoy this quiet moment, before the fighting starts." He said.

Jack nodded as he kissed Kyle deeply feeling under his shirt. If this was the last time they had for each other before this fight, they were going to enjoy it. Within a few minutes their clothes were off and paws exploring each others bodies and then they were both hard with Jack sucking on Kyle's tip making the Canine moan and shift rubbing Jack's ears. After sucking Kyle off for a few minutes and then lubing him up, he moved into position to take the large Canine and allowed his cock to enter him. There was a twinge of pain as the long thick shaft entered him then they were bucking away with both of them moaning loudly until Kyle couldn't take it anymore and bucked even harder until the knot was in and Jack could feel warmth spread throughout him as Kyle came inside of him. They panted as they kissed, Jack moving on top of Kyle enjoying the feeling and making Kyle whine and moan and eventually, they curled up under the covers, Kyle spooning him with his knot still inside but slowly coming down until his cock slid out with ease. Jack murred as he closed his eyes letting sleep come over him. The enemy would be here tomorrow, and there were probably many others like them enjoying this last night before the battle, making love. He hoped that both he, and Kyle, would make it through it.
