I tend to have thoughts that this is too good of a dream. Having a successful career, being able to be free and live on my own, having the money to explore all over the world as well as catching up with the video games - life has been a fun ride.

However, even dreams have to end someday. I just have the feeling that this is going to be over real soon, and I decided to go big and prep up a nice dinner arrangement all by myself. I cooked some food I learned as I traveled around as well as ordering some unique specialties in the area, and I laid them all on a wide table set for two. I smiled as I am finished with the arrangement and sat down on one of the chairs, and 5 minutes later, I heard that same rumbling sound.

A large portal is summoned on the other side of the table, and a towering demon walked out of it. The fine lad wore a fancy suit as he did when he first appeared before me, having that fierce look with his head looking like a bull and a fiery aura surrounding his red skin. He tipped his fedora, and announced, "Hello there, I trust that you know what I'm here for?"

I remembered the time when I was deathly sick in the hospital. An unknown disease, the doctor said, causing me to be bedridden, not able to do normal kid activities like going to school or go to amusement parks. I was drowning in sadness every time I see my father and my mother being tormented every time they see me laying on the hospital bed, struggling to even breathe. Their expression got worse when the doctor mentioned that I will not be able to live past the age of 17.

However, one day before my 17th birthday, that same portal appeared. This demon, Morax, offered a contract to heal my illness to exchange for my soul. It was rather... peculiar when he suggested that without me saying anything about my wish, and I could have sworn that Morax had a pained expression back then. Having nothing to lose, I signed the contract with his paw assisting me, and he bid himself farewell right after. To this day, I remembered the joyful expressions my parents had as I surprised them by standing healthily without any support. The doctor was surprised and called it a miracle, and I am fine with the costs so long that they are happy.

Remembering this, I welcomed the demon with a bright smile. "Hello, Morax. It has been a wild ride, isn't it? Come on, sit down on that chair over there." The demon snorted, and I swore I saw a slight smile. "Oh? I'm surprised, other humans who signed a contract with me would tremble as I arrived to claim your souls. I didn't expect this... arrangement."

I chuckled, "Well, this is my sign of appreciation to what you did. So, how long do I have?" Morax's expression darkened, "Just one more day, so make sure to do everything you want before that time."

I smiled, "Well, glad I prepared all this before the countdown starts!" I trembled a bit, "Will it be... painful, Morax?" The demon grunted, "No! I made sure that it will be... like a peaceful sleep, you won't even realize it." I nodded. "Thank you for informing me."

We sat there in silence for 5 minutes, not even touching our food. I sighed, "So, since these are the last few hours I'm going to have, can I ask for some honesty?" The bull cocked his head. "Why did you offer me this contract? Don't pretend that I asked for it, because you spelled it out. I just had to sign it back then."

Morax tensed at that, and I could have sworn I saw a blush forming on his face. "I-it... While I have lived so many centuries doing this job, you were the first one with such an unfortunate situation. A kind, pure soul not able to even live from the moment he was born. I don't... feel it's fair... and I decided to take matters and give you... a second chance."

I decided to walk over to him and gave him a hug. The demon grunted a little, surprised. "Thank you for your honesty, Morax, and I appreciate you giving these 60 years to me. I..." I teared up, and I felt the bull putting his hands on my back, returning it. "I-I'm glad I could be able to experience all this, you know? But... it's time for me to be honest with you as well."

"What... do you mean, Adam?" It's my turn to blush. "I... can't keep my mind off of you. It might be the adrenaline at the time you offered me the contract, but... you sparked some feelings within me, and... W-will you accompany me for the rest of these 24 hours, and in the afterlife?"

The bull was flustered. The demon blinked, over and over, thinking this is a dream, not noticing the tears forming in his eyes. Over the years, he had never seen such a kind soul. He had observed Adam as he recovered, and to be honest, he actually had mixed feelings about this visit. Happy to be able to see Adam in person for once, but uncomfortable that he had to announce his death. What the human did, awaiting for the demon with a smile and welcoming him with this fine assortment of food, it... soothes the demon's heart. He sighed, maybe life as a demon won't be as bad from this point on. "Yes, Adam, I will gladly accompany you."

The two enjoyed that dinner, talking about each other's accomplishments over the years. The places Adam saw, the people he acquainted with, Morax's clients, what life was like in Hell, and so forth. Once the dinner was finished, the two took a stroll at the park and went to the amusement park the next day, with the bull using his human disguise while in public.

However, time keeps ticking and both of them knew when Adam felt that familiar struggle to breathe as they went home. Morax carried Adam, and laid him softly on the double bed. Adam asked, "C-can you... stay... with me, please?" Morax agreed, laid next to him and kissed the human softly. "Sleep, human, I'm right here with you." The bull put his arms, hugging Adam. "U-until... death... do us... part?" Morax chuckled, "For eternity, my love, for eternity."

Adam felt himself leaving his body soon afterwards, seeing himself laying down peacefully on his bed. He felt someone holding his hand, and next to him, he saw the demon bull smiling at him, guiding him towards the afterlife. The two would have a grand adventure for them soon enough.
