An epitaph not for the mother, but for the cub.

Mother Bear

A mother bear protects her cubs from danger's closing claws,

And shows them how to find the grubs and foods they need to thrive,

But when the forest grounds run dry, she's given little pause,

As instinct drives her not to die, she eats her young alive.
