Winding paths of fate Ch.9
After all these years, Will finally visits his family home.
***
I hope there aren't too many mistakes here. I've been a bit busy lately, but I managed to find some time and upload another chapter.
Will's eyes fluttered open, and a wave of soreness washed over him. Taking in his surroundings, he realized he was no longer weighed down by weariness. As he lay there, he shifted his gaze to the right side and saw Jade, who was lying not far from him and now was in her dragon form.
“J-Jade?" Will mumbled.
The dragoness lifted her head and followed the source of the sound. “Will?" She looked at him, and upon seeing that he wasn't asleep anymore, she stood up. “You are alright!" Jade exclaimed with relief.
Will smiled, but the smile quickly left his face. “You are alright?" he asked, after looked at her.
Jade nodded her head. “I woke up with a slight pain, but now everything is alright" she explained.
“How long did I fall asleep for?" He asked.
“I have no idea. I woke up two days ago."
Two days ago… I lost all of my energy, and slept for two whole days.
“You… saved me… thank you" Jade said happily. She walked over to Will and laid her head on his chest.
Will felt a little scared, didn't know what that amount of weight would do to his injuries, but to his surprise, her head was light. He finally took a closer look at her head, he saw her pearly white horns, on top of her head. Will didn't know what to do, after a moment of silence he placed his right hand on Jade's head and started stroking her gently. To his surprise, she didn't flinch, she simply closed her eyes and revealed himself to the pleasant touch.
“You saved me first" Will said. “If not you. I will get massacred by that horde."
“How did you even get us out of there?" Jade asked.
Will thought for a moment, recollecting what had happened. “After I saw that you defend me, and how it ended for you. Something has changed in me, suddenly I felt… different, I quickly found out that I started floating, shortly after I learned how to—"
Jade opened her eyes, and removed her head off him. “You were floating? But how?"
“I have no idea…" Will paused and looked at his hands.
After a few minutes of silence, Will's felt a craving hunger, soon after this his stomach started screaming for food.
Jade heard this and looked at him. “Are you hungry?"
A wave of shame washed all over him, he nodded his head.
Jade thought for a moment. “Stay here, I'll be back soon."
“I'm not going anywhere" Will said with a forced smile. Less than an hour had passed and Will was still lying on the ground, he wanted to go thought that state again, in time of her absence he tried numerous times but to no avail. After some time he heard a rustling noise, and finally saw her, and she was holding a deer in her mouth.
Jade walked up to Will and dropped the deer a few inches away from him. Will saw fangs marks on the animal's neck. “Eat, it's still warm" She said.
Will looked at the deer animal and then at her. “I cannot eat this. I mean, not like that. Humans cannot eat raw meat"
“You can't?" Jade asked, completely surprised. She froze for a great moment, thinking of a solution for this new obstacle. Then she lowered her head, and using her strong jaws and sharp teeth tore off one of the deer's legs. After that she held it with one of her paws and cooked it using her fire breath. She placed the prepared meal before him. “Here, eat" Jade said, offering Will a cooked part of her prey.
Will leaned closer in front of the freshly cooked meal. He licked his lips. “Thanks… and sorry for the trouble" He said, grabbing the leg. Will hold his meal and using his two hands, the best as he could, he teared off the skin, finally after some struggles he bit into it. This food was not ideal but at least it was fresh, and there was a lot of it.
Will took another bite. “You held yourself back when you were fighting me" He said.
After Will say that he saw that the dragoness without any difficulty, separated the thigh from the rest of the body, grab it in one of her front claws, swallowed it and after a short moment she took out only a bare bone.
She threw the bone, and licked her chops. “I didn't mean to hurt you… you attacked first. I just defended myself." Jade said, then she moved her long neck closer to him and blew hot air into his face.
Will looked at her. “I was angry… I'm really sorry. I didn't mean these things that I said back then" he said, then held out his hand to her. After a while, Jade moved closer, letting him touch her.
“For a wild dragon, you got used to me surprisingly easily" Will commented, running his hand over her scales.
Jade immediately moved away. “Don't get used to it" She said and gave him a cold stare.
“Of course" he said, a small smirk appeared on his face.
Suddenly Jade got really interested in her part of the dear.
After a few minutes, they both ate their food. Will was amazed that Jade ate an entire deer, but she was a dragon after all, and dragons are huge creatures, so they need a lot of food too.
After the feast Will found a grassy spot near the tree trunk, he lay down on the grass. He closed his eyes, but his relax time was cut short, because something blocked the warmth of the sun. Will opened his eyes, and saw the familiar azure dragoness.
“Could you walk some more to the left or right? You are blocking the sun."
“Shouldn't we be looking for your brother?" Jade asked, reminding him why they came here.
Will waved his hand. “We should, but we just ate…" He put his hands behind his head. “We can do it later, we have plenty of time"
Jade tilted her head. “I don't understand... You've been separated from your family for so many years... You should spend as much time as possible with them... After all, each of you has such a short lives"
Will let out a quiet frustrated sigh, he slowly leaned on his elbows. “If we go to them, you will stop talking about it?"
“Yes"
Will slowly stood up. “Let's go then. If we hurry, we should get there before dark" He said and began marching forward. Will took a few steps, but when he doesn't hear any other sound than his, he stopped. He looked back at Jade who didn't move an inch. “You changed your mind?"
Jade looked around, when she confirmed that she had enough space, she decided to spread her wings. “We'll fly!" She announced happily.
Will looked at the dragoness, from his mouth came a loud, nervous snort. “Fly?"
Jade folded her wings. “Yes…" She approached him. “I don't understand. What's so funny about that?"
“Nothing, just…" His face became serious. “We were supposed to not draw attention to ourselves"
“We will fly high, the clouds will cover us" Jade explained to him. “No one will see us. I promise"
Will rubbed his arm. “I'm not convinced that this is the best idea… We could just walk there. If we started now, we should arrive there before the dark"
Jade thought why he was pushing away her idea. “Are you afraid of heights?" she asked, narrowing his eyes.
Will waved his hand. “I'm not afraid, I just…" he sighed. “I'm afraid"
“But you were floating… So back then you weren't afraid?"
Will crossed his arms. “That was a different situation, we were both in danger. I had to save you and then get us out of there"
Jade lowered her head and was now a few inches away from him. “We all have fears, Will, even dragons"
Will's eyes widened. “You are afraid of something? But why? You are—"
“A feral beast" Jade finished for him.
“What?! No! I wanted to say, a dragon. I wouldn't even think of saying something like that!" Will said, outraged.
"I know… I'm just teasing you" Jade paused and scanned their surroundings. "We need a wider space" she said, swiftly changing the subject. "Dragon bodies are quite durable, but our wings can be easily damaged" The dragoness explained to him.
Will looked upward and observed the overwhelming amount of branches. "Oh, the trees. That makes sense" he muttered.
"I know a place where I can safely lift off. Come on, let's not waste time" she said and started walking.
Will glanced at his hands one last time before trailing after her.
***
Will sat on the back of an azure dragon. “I'm still not sure if this is really a good idea"
Jade spread her wings. “It's the fastest way. We are going to be fine." She said. Then without a single word of warning, soared into the air.
Will felt a sudden gust of wind, and out of the corner of his eye he saw the land quickly receding away. He wrapped his trembling arms around the dragon's neck.
“Slow down!" Will shouted to her, but the wind drowned out his words. He gripped the dragon's neck tighter and closed his eyes. Jade swayed slightly from side to side sometimes, Will didn't like it at all. After some time and a lot of deep breaths, he began feeling better.
Will slightly overcome his fear, and he opened his eyes a little, and lifted his head. He looked around and opened his eyes wide. The sigh he was seeing was beautiful! The sun in front of them, shining far over the horizon, the white puffy clouds, slightly below them. Sometimes the clouds were not thick enough, or they weren't there at all, so Will could see the glimpse of land below them. Will looked to the left and in a very far he saw the kingdom. Shortly after that, he looked down and saw the familiar gravel path.
Remembering that his family home was not for from this path, he lightly patted Jade's neck, telling her to descend. Will was mad for himself that they had not agreed on any signs before the flight. He patted her neck harder. After the second try the dragoness finally felt it, and to his luck understand his intention. Jade started to descend. Will suspected that they would do this slowly, but Jade had other plans in mind.
In a blink of an eye she sped up, they cut through the clouds. Will felt the wind whistle in his ears. Because of the increasing speed he started to lose his grip, so he used all his strength, and grab her neck. He closed his eyes, and simply waited for this nightmare to end. After a few moments Will felt that the sound in his ears started to got weaker. Then he felt a loud thud. Will took a peak and when he saw that they touched the ground, the mage immediately pushed himself from the dragon's ridge. Landing on squares right on the forest floor.
Will had trouble catching his breath, his left hand was steadily touching the surrounding grass, and his right hand was clutched to his chest. “Never again!" He gasped out.
“I really missed that" Jade said, and for the last time flopped her wings before folding them. Soon after that her whole body began to twist and shrink slightly, and she again shifted into a human.
She approached her frighten companion. “Don't overdo it… It wasn't that bad" Jade said, mocking him a little. She extended a hand.
Will leaned on her hand and stood up. As soon as he recovered from the previous experience, he began to look around, trying to locate their position. He only knew that they were way past the gravel path. Finally, Will started marching. Jade all this time was quietly fallowing him.
Will went between some trees and stopped, when he saw the old familiar wooden hut. On his face appeared a wide smile. “Look!" Will said and pointed between the trees. Jade fallowed his finger, and looked in the direction and saw what coughed his attention.
“I am finally home." Will said cheerfully. He quickened his pace. After a few minutes of walking, they both found themselves in front of a wooden hut.
Will's heart pounded harder, he ran towards the door. "I'm back!" Will joyfully shouted when he arrived in front of the door. He waited a few moments hoping for a response. However, after the shout, nothing happened, everything was dead quiet. Surprised and apprehensive, he turned towards Jade.
"I don't understand," Will said "As far as I can remember, there was at least one person at home." He then tried to open the door, but it didn't budge.
The mage started pulling and tugging in every possible direction, wrestling with the old steel lock.
"Move aside," Jade said firmly. When Will stepped back, Jade slammed at the door. The hinges creaked, and the old door alongside with the hinges broke, she flew inside along with the door.
Will entered after her and immediately gave her hand, after she stood up, he looked around. The interior of the house looked terrible. Everything were covered in a thick layer of dust. Cobwebs adorned most of the walls. This place looked completely abandoned for at least a couple of years.
“You used to live here?" Jade asked, she started walking and carefully watching every item inside.
“Yes… But this place was different…" He paused, and picked up the fallen door and leaned them again the wall.
His eyes again gazed at the dragoness, who stopped at the round wooden table in the corner of the house. Will went to her, and noticed five chairs.
His lips quivered. “Mother were always complaining about the lack of space, but even when we left home, she decided to keep the two additional chairs… She…" He stopped. Tears came to his eyes, his voice cracked more and more with each word he spoke.
_Get yourself together! _
“Will is everything alright?"
He quickly wiped his eyes and cleared his throat. “Yes… I was just thinking…"
“Can I help you in some way? You want me to open the three other doors?"
Three doors? The bedrooms.
He turned back, and saw three rooms. “You don't have to. They don't have a lock." He said, looking back at her.
Jade tilted her head.
Will looked at her expression, and snorted at his own inattention. He noticed that he was increasingly forgetting that he was not traveling with another human, but with a dragon.
“Lock It's a human invention, we used it to help us guards important things"
Jade nodded in understanding.
Will went back to the front door, and turned left, and opened them. In the corner of his eye he saw that Jade started to approaching him. He entered the room, sat on an old wooden bed, he used his hands to cover his face, trying to hold back tears.
"I don't understand," he whispered softly. "No one has been here for years... but I was getting letters." he said reproachfully, and took his hands off his face.
They perished, but why they didn't mention it in the letters.
"Maybe they just moved somewhere else" The dragoness suggested.
In his mind formed an idea. “Maybe they do. Can you look into my memories? Can you restore them?"
Jade thought for a few moments. “I never did a thing like that, but I could try…"
His face instantly lit up.
“But don't expect anything" She said.
Will nodded. “So what I need to do?" He asked, sitting further into the bed.
Jade sat on the bed next to him. She turned to the side, and grabbed his hands. “I am going to go to your head, I won't be able to answer, so don't panic"
“Oh so that's why you were like that! I should have guessed earlier."
Jade gave him a small smile.“I am going in" she announced. She went to his memories slowly but steady, she went deeper, and after some time finally she saw his first memory…
Will on the other hand, For many long moments, felt absolutely nothing. He relaxed, but soon regretted it as a sudden, unbearable wave of pain attacked his head. With each passing second, he felt the pain spreading over a larger area of his body. He licked his lips and instantly recognized the familiar metallic taste.
"Jade," he said, his voice was croaked. With each moment the pain increased, spreading from his head to every muscle in his body. Unable to endure the pain any longer, he pushed himself away from her, breaking the connection. Seconds passed, he was still lying motionless, he was only hearing his own breathing, and loud gasps from the other corner of the bed.
"Why do you do that?! Do you know what could have happened to me?!" she shouted at him, braking the silence.
"S-Sorry," Will wheezed. He slowly got up, when she saw him, she immediately opened his eyes wide, and got up. Will slowly rise his arm, and found out that he was like a blank sheet, he used his hand and wiped out the blood under his nose. He cleaned his hand by wiping it on his pants.
"Is it that bad?" he asked jokingly. His voice still sounded hoarse.
"You're as white as snow," she said, horrified. "Blood is still flowing from you," she added in a whisper.
"Don't move!" she ordered him, then bolted out of the room.
Will hear a rustling noise, in a blink of an eye she came back, with a yellow cloth in her hand.
"Here," she said, handing him the fabric.
"Thanks," Will said, taking it from her and putting it under his nose.
"Is something hurting you?" Jade asked with concern.
"My head is hurting a little" he confessed, but lied, because the pain was omnipresent in every muscle of his body.
"Sorry for pushing you away. I didn't know it could be dangerous." He apologized and wanted to stand up, but she leaned over him extended her hand stopping him.
“Don't" She advised.
Will listed to her advice. He was genuinely surprised, by her change.
A dragon who care for a human.
He quietly giggled at the idea. Will moved away the cloth, and found out that the blood stopped flowing, for the last time he wiped his nose and dropped the cloth at the end of the bed. He extended his hand and found out that his colors returned. As far as he knew, he has been able to quickly heal from any injury. One time, he broke his left leg, and recovered from it less than a month.
“So… you saw something interesting when you were inside?"
Jade nodded, he moved towards the bed opposite to the one that he was sitting, and sat on it. "When I was in your mind, I saw something strange... I'm not sure, but I think the memories from before the accident are... locked? I wanted to try to access them, and in the process..."
He waved his free hand. "I am fine, we can try..."
Her face in a flash turned from normal to a mix between scare and anger.
"No! Don't even think about it! I won't do it again! Look what I did to you!" She gestures at him.
Will leaned and grabbed her hand. "It's not your fault. Don't worry, everything will be fine."
"Never again," she stated emphatically.
Will wanted to look into her eyes, but she didn't want to meet his gaze.
"Never again" he calmly repeated, although he was devastated that the only thing that may recall his memories back was cut shortly, his mood brightened a little when he saw the relived expression on her face.
"Are there any other places your mother and sister often visited? Maybe they left a message?" Jade asked, looking around the room.
"The garden," Will whispered. He slowly got up from the bed. "Maybe we'll find clues there about where to look for them."
Will led her to the garden. The area behind the house was in the same condition as the interior, once a place of diverse cultivation, now overgrown with weeds.
Will slowly checked every inch of the garden and its surroundings. But nothing seemed unique or odd… everything was ordinary. He clenched his fist, reliving his frustration. So many years of waiting, so many years of sacrifices, all in vain!
If only he had gotten here sooner...
Someone placed a hand on his shoulder. Will immediately turned around, ready to attack, but quickly composed himself upon seeing Jade. The dragoness rarely showed emotion, but this time she looked scared.
"Will, we need to go."
He normally would argue or just ask her why, but when he saw her face, and heard the tone she said it, he without a word followed her.
"Something is close to us, something big," she explained as they left the back of the house.
They stopped in front of the home, Will turned around and for the last time looked at his old home. He looked upwards and saw something weird, he even blinked a few times. He was looking on a streak on the sky, a streak on the sky that was growing bigger with each passing second. Jade pulled him by his cloak. The streak became more visible.
"Dragon!" he shouted. The two of them spun around. At that very moment, they felt a powerful gust of wind, and a large red dragon landed in front of them. After a few glances, Will noticed that the dragon's neck and head were the same height as the surrounding trees. The dragon lowered its head and roared angrily.
"HUMANS!"
Will shielded Jade. After a brief moment, she grabbed him by the arm and tugged him slightly. "Don't harm him" she pleaded.
The red scaly dragon ears flicked. He shook his head in disbelieve. "I can…" the surprised dragon stopped, and took a closer look at them. Then he dug his claws to the ground “You are a dragon! Change back!" He ordered, groaning.
Jade slowly stepped away, and transformed into her true form.
The red dragon again shook his head. "You?! What are you doing here?! And why are you with this human?!"
Jade took one step closer to the other dragon. "Brother, please, let's talk."
Will's eyes opened wide.
They are family?!
He compared them, but the two dragons were so much different in size.
But they are so different… Maybe male dragons are bigger.
The red drake groaned at her words, and started approaching her. "Don't call me that! You abandoned us!" the red dragon roared, he turned his head towards the blue dragoness, and opened his mouth.
Will without even thinking rose his hands, and shoot a beam of ice shards straight at the scaly creature neck. The red dragon instantly retaliated, he turned his head towards the human.
“A mage…" The red dragon said, he turned to him and started slowly marching towards him.
Will threw at him a few fireballs, and ice shards, but the dragon didn't even flinch.
He don't even have a scratch, but how?! Jade was injured by the sword, but this dragon is tougher. My spells are useless!
Will was continuously hitting the scaly creature trying to find it's weak spot, after the next step the dragon decided to rush at him. The red drake turned around.
Will could only blink as the tail hit him. He flew backwards, his whole body stopped on something hard, the planks creaked. He slumped against the wooden wall of the building, everything started spinning. Will realized the horrible truth, he was not much for his enemy. He could only wait as the dragon was getting closer to finish him.
The red drake stopped a few inches in front of him. “This gross human scent" He huffed. The dragon looked at the panting mage. “You humans have short lives, killing you is a mercy"
Will overcome the wave of pain. “Why did you come here?!" he angrily whispered.
The dragon blinked a few times. He turned his head. “You can understand me, human?!"
“Why are you here?" Will asked, ignoring the question.
The dragon reminded silent. After a few moments it went closer to him and released a loud groan. “How this is even possible?! Answer me, human!"
"I don't know," he replied, his gaze fixed on the dragon.
“Wrong answer." Said the drake and stomped on his leg.
Will felt as the sharp claws easily dug in his pants and went into his flesh.
“Why can you understand me, human?!" The drake hissed.
“I don't know!" Will howled in pain. He could feel a warm air on his head, the drake digs his claws deeper. Will's mind was filled with radiating pain. Biting his teeth, he touched the dragon leg, and released a lighting bolt, but the dragon didn't let go.
He grabbed his head, trying to deal with the pain, then his mind filled a loud bestial roar.
“Let him go!" Jade roared.
The drake removed his claw from his leg. Will's eyes looked forward, and saw that she rushed at the red drake to attack him from his left side, But the drake quickly turned his body, and easily shoved her off. The azure dragoness fall to the ground.
“Look what you became!" The red dragon growled. The red drake rushed to her, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her to the ground. “You decided to attack your own kind! And for what?! To defend this?!"
Will put all of his mind, to came with a plan._ _His tired mind gave him only one word.
Distraction.
“Get off me!" she roared, and started to struggle trying to break free from the grab.
The drake pushed its claw harder, the female dragon let out a wince. “WHY ARE YOU PROTECTING IT?! THIS HUMAN! MAGE! A KILLER!" the drake roared, every roar was louder that the previous one.
Will felt that the ground under him trembled. He moved his right higher and shoot a single fireball at the red dragon. The creature turned his head to him.
“Your tricks won't do anything" the red drake said, the dragon lost attention in the second dragon, and started to slowly aproach him. It stopped a few inches in front of him.
Will looked into his cold, amber eyes. He released one small fireball and shoot it straight at the red creature snout.
“Humans" He sneered. “So fragile, short-lived, parasitic creatures." The drake stared at him. “Before I kill you tell me one thing human… Why you decided to alliance with a dragon?"
The words echoed in his mind, but he didn't have the strength to answer them. Will only stared the dragon dead in the eye. His sigh went to the left, and he saw the panting, laying dragoness. He looked back at the crimson dragon.
_She won't be able to help me this time, I need to protect myself. I need to protect the two of us. _
Will look inside himself, he again tried to find and summon the state from the days before.
“Any last words, human?" The drake asked.
Will used the last bit of his strength and stood up. He saw as the red dragon lowered his neck, and opened his mouth, aiming his stream of fire straight at him.
Will closed his eyes, he again began to felt a tingle all over his hands, In a matter of seconds an overwhelming wave of emotions flooded him, and shortly after a familiar feeling struck him once again. His pain again completely left him.
He opened his eyes, and jumped to the site, dodging the attack, his cape save him from the burns. Before the dragon could attack, Will formed a small ball of lighting in his hands and shoot his projectile right where his fire were coming from. The ball hit, the fire stopped, the drake let out a roar, shivered, and fell.
After the attack Will felt that this additional energy started rapidly leaving him. He felt the radiating heat behind his back. He used some remaining strength to yank his cape off him and put don't the fire. After he did that, he started to feel the increasing heat, Will instally jumped forward. He carefully observed the drake, and saw that his chest was moving. The drake opened his eyes, growled and got up.
“Magic" the red dragon said with disgust. Still shaking from the attack.
Will got prepared for a vicious revenge, but the drake didn't approach him nor her. Instead, he backed up a bit, took off from the ground, and flew away.
“I think that I don't hurt him that much." Will weakly said, still observing the shrinking point on the sky.
“Your cave!" Jade shouted.
"I don't…" His words were cut off as he looked behind him and saw the only thing left of his missing family was being consumed by flames.
Jade rushed to him. “How we can save it?"
Will didn't, remove his eyes off the burning building. He sighed. “Nothing can be done… I am too weak, to extinguish the flames"
“But I am not!" growled Jade, and soared to the air.
Will observed as she stopped above the house, and started flapping her wings to deal with the flames.
Will felt a radiating heat, from the burning wood. He grabbed his cape, and started crawling away from the home. With tears in his eyes, he was watching as the place started to be consumed more and more by flames. His gaze moved higher, the dragoness was still flying above the whole construction, and she was helplessly trying to put down the flames.
Will started coughing violently as some smoke, got blown by her wind, onto him. “Jade!" he shouted, but the dragoness didn't hear him. He could only wait for her. Will soon noticed that her swipes got slower. Finally, she gave up, and landed near him.
"I tried to..."
Will coughed loudly. "We need to go"
The dragoness lowered herself, Will crawled onto her back, and grabbed her by the neck.
Jade took a leap and soared into the sky.
***
When Will's feet touched the ground again, he felt a tremendous weight lift off him.
“We made it" he said joyfully, exhaling with relief.
Will expected a comment, but the dragoness reminded silent. He got off her, and he crawled and leaned against the nearest tree.
Will looked at the dragoness. “Jade, could you gather some sticks, and then drop them there?" he asked, and gestured at their campfire.
The dragoness nodded, and vanished behind the trees, after a few moments he returned and dropped a few pieces of wood, and dropped them exactly where he told her. Will aimed his right hand at them, created a small fireball, and lit the pieces of wood.
Jade approached him. “It's over" she said with sadness in her voice.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"My brother knows your scent, he'll find you everywhere, and he will…" She paused and looked into the other direction.
“How much time do I have before he would track me down?"
“A few days," Jade said thoughtfully.
"What if I go back to that state from before" he thought aloud.
"You learned to control it?" she wondered.
"No…" Will looked at his hands. “This state is just appearing when I need it, I cannot summon it whenever I want" The mage throw a fireball into the fire, he looked to the left and saw that Jade began to watch the dancing flames.
"What about you?" he asked. "Are you also in danger?"
"I am a dragon, they will probably bring me to the council. I will get punish, but I will live." She lowered her head. “But you not"
“Could you lean closer to me?" Will asked.
“Why?" The dragoness asked, taken by surprise, by his sudden and odd request.
“I want to show you something." He answered.
Jade leaned closer, and when she did, he took her head, and embraced it, pressing her head to his chest.
“What are you doing?" She asked him, after he was holding her head for a few moments.
“I am sorry… I just… we humans, sometimes need to hug each other. Are you feeling uncomfortable?
Jade shifted her head but didn't take it back. "No. Everything is fine"
After hearing this, Will decided to scratch under her chin a little. He got surprised and amazed because the scales in there were even softer than on her neck.
A few tears dropped on her scaly head. “Thank you" Will whispered. “I don't know why you are still with me… for a pity, or something else…" he paused, and took a long sniff. Will removed his hands off her, the dragoness slowly backed away from him, she lay down and placed her head near him.
Will looked at the dancing flames. “You know that some of your scales are as soft as a pillow?"
The dragoness released a growl after hearing the last word. “Too many human words." Jade whined, and tried to cover her snout with her paws.
Will couldn't help but burst into laughter at her reaction.
