#1 of The Amazing Race 3

I know not a lot of people read these reality stories, but it's what I love to do; which is why I'm writing a 3rd race.

Big shoutouts to those I added into this race: Felix, Majira, Echo, Cal, Ren, Chris, and Vik (his characters)

You guys are all awesome ^^

"Welcome to Philadelphia; one of the most famous cities in the state, where rich inviting history lives at its front door," the red dog says. "Here at this local museum is the starting point in a brand new race all over the continent of North America. I'm your returning host, Toner McAlister, and welcome to season 3 of... the Amazing Race."

***

"The Museum of Art acts as the starting line for the third race," Toner continues. "Currently, 18 brand new teams are on their way here for another race and yet another million dollars. Let's meet the teams, shall we?"

A few of the teams are on a bus on the way there. The first one is Chloe (grey cat) & Parker (black tiger)- the magicians. "I can't believe it, were actually on the race," Parker says. "And I thought getting into that magic show was gonna be hard."

"I'm excited too, buddy," Chloe says. She pays her friend on the back. "Just promise me you're not gonna get magic-happy like you normally do, ok?"

"I promise."

The next team is Echo (black fennec fox) & Majira (red fox)- good friends and YouTubers. "When I bet Echo we could win the race, I didn't think she would actually go and try this," Majira explains.

"Are you kidding?" Echo asks. "This'll be fun. Besides, when have we ever done something like this?"

Kaleb & Mac (grey wolves)- father and son. "My job can be a pain sometimes," Kaleb says, "so I think that this race could be a good thing for me and my son. Ain't that right, bud?" He ruffles the fur on his kid's head.

"Ok," Mac says, not completely serious. "Umm... are there any other kids 10 years old like me here?" His father blushes.

Chris (brown wolf/husky hybrid) & Zack (orange and white fox)- Marine Furs. "We went through intense training just to get in the Marines," Chris points out. "But, I'm sure we can handle this race just fine."

Zack shrugs. "I personally think that it'll be great for us. You know, see the world, have some fun, maybe even meet a few cute guys."

"Uh... I doubt there's going to be time for that so let's focus on winning, ok?" Chris blushes, his smile hiding the fact that he secretly wanted that to happen.

Team #5 is Cal (brown bear) & Ren (black fox)- an engaged couple.

"You'd think that just because I'm chubby, I wouldn't do well in a race, but trust me, I'm pretty quick on my feet," Cal says with confidence.

"Cal may appear fat, but most of that is muscle," Ren says, before quickly adding, "... sort of."

Mitchell & Robin (brown coyotes with rainbow stomachs and tails)- the gay pride parade organizers. "Doing this with my best friend was pretty much a no-brainer," Mitchell says. "Rob and I have been through so much together, there's no way I could've done it without anyone else."

"I just hope we don't get booted first," Robin says. "That wouldn't be good for our rep."

"We won't get out first, man."

Carla & Carrie (green skunks)- professional actors. "We know how to handle pressure," Carrie says. "After all, we went through dozens of auditions and were used to being told if we lost the part."

"Let's just hope that ain't the case at all for this thing," Carla replies. "Mostly because I told my dad I got a part in that movie Champion."

Karen & Carol (white cats)- donut shop owners. "I'm still not sure if we're gonna do good, Carol," Karen says. "I mean, we're not the most physically fit and I don't see how-"

"Shhh!!" Carol puts a finger on her friend's lips. "If you keep talking like that, of course we ain't gonna do good. Just stay calm and leave most of the work to me."

The ninth team is Felix (brown fox) & Toby (Orange tiger)- beneficial friends. "Oh boy! I'm so excited that we're here!" Felix says, his tail wagging like crazy as he stands and looks out the window.

Toby Just chuckles as he says, "Felix can be a bit excited sometimes, but don't worry, I'm gonna make sure he stays focused on the race." Felix sits down as the bus they're on slows down and stops in front of the Museum. The doors open and the new Racers start to get off and gather around the starting line.

"This way, teams!" Toner says. More teams come from the street. Team #10 is Vito & Donna (orange foxes)- New York cab drivers.

"Being cab drivers in the busiest city in America, we have a small advantage," Donna says.

"We know how to escape heavy traffic," Vito says. "Plus, we're pretty fast so we know we're going to win this thing."

Cinnamon (brown fox) & Pepper (grey fox)- male strippers. "People think that sluts like us don't really make it far," Pepper says. "But we're gonna show them, aren't we, Cinnamon?" His partner just smiles and nods. "He's dumb; he can hear but he can't speak."

Josee (orange tiger) & Ryan (black wolf)- the on/off daters. "Josee and I met through Tinder almost a year ago and we've been taking it slow ever since," Ryan says.

"We've hit a bunch of bumps," Josee says, "but we've overcame each obstacle and we usually make up in the end." They stop walking for a moment to briefly kiss.

April (blue cat) & Maggie (pink vixen)- the mothers. "Leaving our kids to our husbands isn't the best thought to me," April says.

"Hey! We came here to do this race for our families," Maggie says. "Now are we gonna win this thing or what?" April rolls her eyes but she wraps an arm around her friend, clearly on board.

Arnold (human) & Bert (orange wolf)- the computer geeks who say they will use their winnings to help research on the medical field. "We feel that with money, comes a lot of solutions," Arnold says. "And with a million bucks, we might actually be able to help out with curing many diseases."

"I need the money because my dad has foot cancer and needs all the help he can get," Bert says.

Sa'mone (pink cat) & Daisy (pink vixen)- baristas. "I'm sure the diner in Knoxville will hold until I get back," Daisy says. "Besides, how often do you get to travel reality style."

"Not much," Sa'mone says.

"I'm so excited to see what's in store for us."

Sindy & Sally (beige foxes)- the telephone operators. "In case anyone is wondering, our job isn't as interesting as you think," Sally says. "We just sit there all day on the phone. It's not fun at all."

"I'm mostly worried people will spell my name wrong," Sindy says. "I mean, I can see why people think it's with a 'C' but it isn't. It has an 'S'."

"Ok, just calm down. I'm pretty sure we won't lose the race because of spelling error."

Max (orange fox) & Lucius (grey wolf)- the emperors of the fox and wolf empire respectively. "We've been huge fans of this show since episode one," Max says. "We've tried auditioning for the first two seasons but we're finally here!"

"We tried to get Kuhlman on board," Lucius says, "but he figured it wouldn't be good competing against your best friends."

"Yep. Hey, Kuhlman! If we win, we'll split the million with ya!"

And finally, the last team is Nick (red fox) & Judy (grey bunny)- Zootopian police officers. "We're going to do great in this, aren't we Carrots?" Nick asks, wrapping an arm around his partner.

"Fine," Judy replies, "as long as you don't do any of your sneaky tricks."

"No promises."

With all the new racers in, Toner hops up on the steps of the museum and begins speaking. "Welcome, newbies! This is the starting for a new race all over the continent! In case you don't know how this race works, each leg of the race ends at a 'checkpoint', but move fast because the last team to stand on the completion rug could be cut from the race. However, the first team to reach the last checkpoint will win One. Million. Dollars." The crowd cheers before he continues. He walks over to a silver box with a yellow button on the top. "As I'm sure you remember, this is the clue box. Press the button and it will give you clues that will lead you all throughout the race. Understood?" The new racers get excited. "On your marks.... get set...." Everyone gets ready to run for it. ".... RACE!!" Toner gets out of the way as the 36 racers run for the clue box.

"'Race on foot to the Comcast Center to receive your next clue'," Pepper reads. He urged his partner to follow him down the street. The rest of the teams get the clue and they start to follow.

"Dad! I can see the tower!" Mac points out.

"Nice job son!" Kaleb says as they pass the strippers. "Hey! I can also see the clue box!" Father and son are the first to reach the Comcast Center. Mac gets the next clue and reads it.

"It's a Detour," he says. "What's a Detour?"

A Detour is where teams have a choice between two challenges. In this case, an Amazing Race classic, teams can either climb all 57 flights of stairs to reach the roof, or earn the privilege of using the elevator by balancing two fruits on their shoulders and walking across a balance beam. Do either and teams can make it to the roof where their next clue awaits.

"I don't know about you, but I'd rather do stairs," Kaleb declares.

"57 flights?!" Cal asks. "How about we just do the balancing beam."

"Same," Chris says to Zack.

"We can handle the stairs, right?" Nick asks.

Judy sighs. "Let's hope so." As the officers and Father & Son begin the excruciating climb, they're soon joined by Vito & Donna, Cinnamon & Pepper, Josee & Ryan, Carla & Carrie, and Daisy & Sa'mone.

"Remind me why we chose to take the stairs?" Carrie asks after only a few floors.

"Because you have terrible balance," Carla explains. "No wonder they never hired you as a stunt double."

"Jeez," Daisy says, "I've never known how awful this race can be up close."

"We've only gone up five flights," Sa'mone says. Although, both of them are out of breath. "We still 52 more to go!"

Up ahead of them is the Daters. "Wow, honey, do you use the stair machine every day?" Ryan asks. "You're not even panting."

"Well," Josee says, "I do tend to go there every now and then. Especially with a certain handsome wolf I know of."

"Who?"

"You, silly!" She rolls her eyes and keeps climbing.

Somewhere towards the lead are the strippers. "Dude, we're doing awesome!" Pepper says as they pass floor number 10. Cinnamon just nods. "Keep it up!"

"Nick... I... too many floors." Judy stops for a moment after her legs cramp up. Nick picks her up and tosses her over his shoulder.

"Need a hand? We only have 40 more floors," Nick tells her, then continues going up.

Meanwhile, on the ground, Cal & Ren and Chris & Zack have started the balancing beam task. "I didn't know we were going to be balancing grapefruits," Chris complains. He seems to have trouble keeping them on his shoulders.

Zack, though, doesn't seem to be having any issues. "This isn't that hard, to be honest."

They're soon followed by Cal, with Ren right behind him. "Why did you let me sign up for this race?" Ren asks. "I look silly doing this."

"I told you," Cal answers, "auditions for Gainer's Paradise was already closed and this was the next best thing." He drops one of the fruits, meaning he has to start over. The four are on joined by Echo & Majira, April & Maggie, Felix & Toby, Chloe & Parker, and Max & Lucius.

"Out of all the fruits, why is it this one?" Majira asks.

"This is a show hosted by Toner McAlister," Echo says. "Do you really think this will be easy?" She slips of the beam and starts over.

The magicians hops on last. "If only we could use magic to help with this," Parker sighs.

"Do you really want a penalty that badly?" Chloe asks, curious.

"No. But I'm saying that it would be fun if we could."

"Felix? I'm starting to think they're about to fall off!" Toby halts and repositions the fruit on his arms.

Felix then stops too. "C'mon, Toby. You'll be fine. What would Fletcher be saying?"

"He'd probably be telling me to move forward."

"Exactly. You can do this!" Thankfully, his partner helps keep Toby's mind off the challenge.

The emperors are right behind the beneficial friends. The breeze slightly blows in Lucius' eyes and it makes it hard to see. "Damn it! Where am I going?"

"Straight ahead," Max says. He helps his partner move, only to have him slips a little and fall off. "Oops. Sorry Wolfy!"

"It's fine. Just keep going." Lucius heads to the back and Max continues.

"This is for you Patricia!" April exclaims.

"Patricia?" Maggie asks. "Your daughter's name is Beatrice."

"No, Patricia's my sister. She came in 8th place last year."

"Oh."

With most of the teams struggling to complete the Detour, the last four teams start the challenge. "Awww, but I wanted to do the balancing challenge," Robin whines.

"Buddy, I've seen you try to balance forks on your nose and it's a sad sight," Mitchell respond. "Besides, it's not like we're going up the World Trade Center."

On floor 15, the shop owners are trying to catch their breath. "I think we're in last," Karen pants.

"I wouldn't... be surprised," Carol says. She grabs her friend's arm and pulls them up. "But we have to keep going." Reluctantly, Karen trudges onwards.

Downstairs, Arnold & Bert along with Sindy & Sally do the balancing act. "This isn't that hard," Arnold states. "It's all just a mind game."

"Doesn't Toner throw a lot of those within these competitions?" Bert asks.

"Yes, but we can get through each one."

"We might want to hurry," Sally urges. "We're in last and that's not a good thing."

"I'm not going to be the first one cut out I'll tell you that much," Sindy says. The marines are close to being the first down when Chris drops one of his fruit.

"Shit! I have to do it over!" He quickly runs back to the end and starts again. Zack finishes first and hops off. However, Cal finishes next followed by Ren, officially taking first place.

"We did it!" Cal cheers. "Now let's get to the roof!" They head inside.

"Coming through people!" Nick says as he passes the cab drivers. "We've got an officer down!"

"Oh no you don't!" Donna says. Her and Vito pick up their pace and soon make it towards the top. The next team to finish is Felix & Toby.

"See? Told you you could do this," Felix says with a teasing smile.

"I shouldn't have doubted you." Toby blushes and they head in too, leaving Zack worried.

As teams start to finish the Detour, the team's who took the stairs are starting to leap into victory.

The door to the roof opens and Vito & Donna step out. "First!" Vito exclaims. The two are barely breaking a sweat. They find the next clue box and he retrieves their next task. "'Got nothing to do? Ride down for your clue'. Huh?" Teams must take a zip line across the city all the way to Philadelphia International Airport and snag their plane tickets along the way.

The drivers strap into the zip line and the jump off the roof, flying towards the airport. Donna reaches out when she sees a pair of tickets and grabs them midair. "Nice one!" Vito says.

Cal & Ren make it to the roof next. "Zip lining?" Ren asks.

"Well, let's go," Cal says. They get strapped in and they ride down. In minutes, the officers make it to the top.

"Finally!" Judy says. "I had no idea you had that kind of strength."

"I guess I had it in me and never bothered to use it," Nick says. "Either way, we're on the roof and it looks like we're heading down." They get strapped in.

Vito & Donna make it to the airport nearly ten minutes later. They get in strapped and read the tickets. "Hmm, two seats on the next flight available to Jacksonville, North Carolina," Donna says aloud.

Unlike the last two seasons, there are three separate flights to North Carolina, each departing 30 minutes apart. Teams on the first flight have the advantage of arriving first. Teams on flight three... should start crying now because what're the odds all of them will stay?

The cab drivers go in and take seats on flight one. The engaged couple land there next. "North Carolina? Sweet!" Cal gets them unhooked from the line and the men head inside.

Judy reaches out and grabs the tickets as her and Nick zip across the city.

More and more teams continue to get on the zip line and as they get seats on flight one and two, the race to not be last intensifies.

"C'mon, Cinnamon, we're almost there," Pepper says once they reach the roof, clearly out of breath.

"Why didn't we do the other challenge?!" Mitchell complains.

"That's what I said!" Robin says. They collapse on the ground but they drag themselves up to get strapped onto the line.

"Well, that could've been worse," Daisy pants.

"Yeah, you could've vomited and made me sick too." Ironically, that's what Sa'mone does a second later.

"Woohoo! We did it!" Chloe cheers once she gets out of the elevator.

"But we're behind," Parker points out. "Let's get out of here."

Karen & Carol and Carla & Carrie finish next, with Sindy & Sally getting on the zip line last.

"Is there anyone else behind us?" Sally asks.

Sindy looks behind them and sees no one else. "No! I think we're last!" She reaches out and grabs the last pair of tickets. When they land, they quickly run inside the airport. "North Carolina. Here we come!"
