Chapter 10 - Cold Fire
#10 of Valkyrie - Pegasus - Book 2 - The Hand of Gods
Location: Raven's Nest Shipyard - Terra
"AHHHHHHHHHH!" screamed Obsidian as he chucked the table over. His muscles rippled under the stress of the table. "He can't be dead! Can't you "gods" do something!"
Odin just stared at Obsidian's rage with interest. It had been a long time since she had felt that passionate about a cause.
"His death was a necessary component..." started Odin with her husky and calm voice.
"A necessary component!" Obsidian was shocked by the cold words that Odin had just said.
Regardless of what problems Diamond had been through he was still in love with him and being without him must have hurt.
"Calm yourself!" commanded Odin, her armour chaffed together as she moved forward creating a metallic sound the echoed in the emptiness of the room.
This room was a long hall, the floor was very similar to the temple that was inside the ruins on Helfhiem. The same sort of construction techniques had been used so that Obsidian could hold a vigil with one of the gods.
Obsidian allowed himself to be seated behind the large marble desk at one end and watching Odin who walked in front of the table, putting her hands down and leaning forward. "We must not allow ourselves to become distracted by things past... our old enemy - Galladia has been reborn. We need to speed up the recovery of the legendary artifices."
Obsidian looked straight up into Odin's eyes, allowing himself to become mesmerised by there divine red colour. He was look for a reason, any reason to focus on the task at hand instead of the death of his mate.
"Galladia...?" asked Obsidian never hearing the name mentioned before.
Odin got up from the slouching over the desk. Even that position she carried herself with dignity and power.
"Ah... Galladia" she muttered.
Location: Serenity Island â€" Terra â€" 2,000 years ago
"Galladia" said Odin in a calm voice, her blade twitching her hands. The power of the Divine Lance Gungnir that she wielded had faded and she was surrounded by all her fallen Atlantians that had been converted to evil through the Dark Collective and the power of the Orichalcum.
The Orichalcum was a powerful metal alloy that had been discovered by the scientist Galladia from the rocks of a planet called Earth. At this time, Atlantia had been a dominant power in the universe for almost ten thousand years. They had found themselves in a time before any race that they knew of had perfected space travel. They travelled to many worlds and sent out people in large colony ships in order to understand the universe and live amongst the many different species evolving without causing interference.
One of these such colonies was sent to a far distant world in the Milky Way Galaxy called "Earth". This planet supported primitive life that closely resembled the Atlantian people, they called themselves "Humans". The Atlantians had watched this world for many years and it was decided that they would make themselves known by constructing a large city in the middle of the ocean on the top of the colony ship. However the humans of Earth distrusted and were even frightened by the advanced technology of the Atlantians and it was decided that they would leave without incident.
During that time on Earth, Galladia was born and became a scientist working on the topographical and geological data of the planet. She stumbled across a powerful metal substance that seemed to be not of the same world as Earth. This powerful metal alloy had the strange ability of being able to turn thought into energy, meaning that the wielder could wish for anything and it would appear before them.
Galladia presented this research to the High Council back on Atlantia who immediately put it to use in their new research of ascending into beings of pure energy. However Galladia wanted to go further then the council had anticipated, she wanted it to ensure "dominion over the lesser species of the universe."
The council overruled her case and the Atlantians completed a way to control matter-energy conversion and transferred themselves into immortal beings. However Galladia was still not satisfied and in the far out galaxy of Altia she began her designs on the universe.
She was not seen or heard from again for almost ten years however eventually she did return, bathed in the energy of the Orichalcum which had assisted her in creating more ore which she used the selfish and human desires of the people to corrupt them with the Orichalcum.
She also had constructed a life form from the Orichalcum which was a parasite like monster the entered into the body and transferred Orichalcum resin directly into the bloodstream causing the victim to become corrupted.
The council was overwhelmed but stood firm against this army that Galladia had raised against them. Calling themselves the "Dark Collective" they spread themselves out through the galaxy poisoning Atlantian worlds to their cause. Galladia announced that she had separated from other Atlantians and declared civil war under the name "The Venir"
Odin and Freyja were both successful in fighting her for a time but her numbers began to grow astronomically fast as she fed entire worlds to the Orichalcum that had nothing to do with the struggle. It was when that defeat was upon them and all hope had faded that Bragi, another scientist who had been the mentor of Galladia on Earth came up with a way to seal both her and the Dark Collective, ironically with the own source of her power.
Bragi managed to constructed three swords of Orichalcum which could contain and hold her own energy, it would nullify itself out. Essentially this was the only thing that could beat her.

"I was in the original battle with her" said Odin, looking down at the floor and then back up at Obsidian as if she was feeling a weight that he could never carry or understand. "She was contained in Bragi's swords however it cost her, her life."
"Then why is she free now?"
"That is something that you mortals could not understand because you think in a linear motion" blurted Odin, watching Obsidian's annoyance and then gradual acceptance of what she was saying.
"Well how bad of a threat is she?" said Obsidian, still trying to recover about the news of Diamond and trying to make himself strong in the Asgard's eyes.
"If she has been resurrected, she could be a serious threat." Odin said with placid conviction in her voice. "However I suggest that we deal with the more immediate problem. According to our scouts, Demon Sword Levantine was taken from the shrine. Probably by that resistance group that Diamond infiltrated."
"Don't worry I have that all in hand...." Odin immediately cut off Obsidian in mid-flow, again much to his annoyance.
"We already have made preparations, come with me..."
