United Corporations - Prologue
Imported from SF2 with no description.
(This is kinda a prologue mainly just to see if you guys like it enough to put more time into it. If you didn't read my journal then you're probably asking “where's Occupational Hazard!!!!". It's still there, just not being worked on that much. My brain kinda hit a dead end with that story. Anyway just wanted to put this out since I always wanted to write something from one of my favorite video games (Dead Space). Tell me if you want to see more, even though this isn't much to go off of, just wanted to set the plot and show you what I was thinking of recently."
Generations since the last marker disaster. Mankind found himself going extinct from lack of resources. Desperate he sought help from, what little remained, Concordance Extraction Corporation (CEC) in an attempt to harvest resources from other planets. Secretly hoping to stumble upon another marker to attempt to harness its limitless energies for himself.
The CEC meanwhile, desperately scavenged what little they had and sent out a handful of prospecting units. Which consisted of four men or women, once dirtside they would split up, set up camp at two promising locations and begin sampling. Many of the units were sent to moons or other small bodies in search for quick recourses. Others were sent to larger planets, some even containing breathable atmosphere.

AUDIO LOG
SMITH, JIM. (CEC)
Alright uhh, this is audio log one. Time is 22:36 and the date is January 12, 2634. location, Outpost Bravo. We've been here for about a week now since setting everything up. Outpost Alpha is in similar conditions. To be honest I don't know who got it worse. While John and I have to clean the sand out of the shuttle and trucks engines every day, plus the extreme heat and sometimes even sand storms. Up north Mary and Sam have the complete opposite! During the winter it snows almost non stop and when it's summer...well once it's summer it will probably rain, A LOT!
But seriously i've asked them multiple times if they wanted help but each time they refused. If they're not careful they could easily freeze to death. Constantly checking fuel lines and what not. Trust me, if it can freeze, up their it will. They even said there coffee froze in their cups!
Besides all that we both have made good progress. According to the reports this place is a gold mine: cobalt, silicon, osmium. And a lot of it. The only problem is we're not alone. I know sounds weird doesn't it. First time we've made contact with aliens. Hypothetically speaking, eggheads call them Sergals but don't want us to make contact saying “You'll compromise the natural evolution."
Anyway John and I have a lot of work to do. Check the prospectors, make sure the communications relay it still up. And clean the sand out of everything...again.
Smith out.
