Math Class #1
#1 of Math Class
This is a story about Adrien, who hates math class. And expect it to be cheesy and pretty bad.
I'm sorry for not finishing the mute, but after re-reading it I'm pretty disappointed with how it came out, and I pretty much 'wrote myself into a corner'
Anyways, enjoy!
I sat cross-legged on the stone tile floor of the shower. Warm water ran over my shoulders and down my back. I'm incredibly in love with the practice of taking late-night showers. The blistering water gushes down my back, time stops, and I'm left with a euphoric sense of disorientation. However, I came back to my senses when I heard the mechanical shrill of the garage door.
I could barely hear "Adrien, I'm home!" over the constant spray of the shower, so I didn't respond. I did, however, take this as my cue to finish washing.
After I finished, I dried, got changed, and I headed downstairs to greet Hana. Hana is my adopted mother, she's an intimidatingly tall human woman, with high cheekbones and a small nose and striking dark eyes. She wears expensive peach perfume and dark red lipstick that goes impeccably well with her sophisticated business suits.. Everything about her gives off an aura of of confidence and unfortunately, superiority. But I suppose that superiority is what helped her get so far ahead in her industry.
"How have you been honey?" She questioned, not looking up from her deep glass of white wine.
"Fine I guess" I responded. Although she had been traveling on business for over 3 weeks now, and I had missed her, I was too tired to really talk to her.
"Good to see you didn't burn the house down"
"Yup" I replied.
After that we both sat there awkwardly looking at the carpet for about 10 minutes until she said "G'night" and ambled up the staircase to bed.
I slept reasonably well that night, no dreams or anything. So I woke up before my alarm and put on a sweater and some nice jeans, this was my first day at my new school and I wanted to impress. I really wasn't sure who I was trying to impress, I just wanted to impress someone.
Well I guess this is the part of the story where I look in the mirror so I can describe myself... [Its so cheesy I'm sorry -moocat]
I'm about 5' 8" and 110 pounds which gives me a slender build, I'm usually ok with being skinny and short but it really hurts when someone punches me, even if its just jokingly (which it usually is). I haven't told you this yet but I'm a husky, I try to take care of my plain grey and white fur. I haven't dyed my headfur, so it's the same grey as the rest. Being a plain grey and white husky is pretty boring, but my main feature is that my tail and ears are a bit larger than a normal husky's, I think I might have some fox in my blood but I can't know for sure because no one knows what my parents were like.
Today I decided to skip breakfast, so I headed out the door. When I arrived at school, the halls were already congested with students shouting and throwing objects and doing other things that I find frightening. Thankfully the warm sanctuary of the secretary's office was nearby.
I entered the office and gave the plump lady at the desk my name, and asked for my schedule. It took her a few minutes to print it it out, then she handed it to me.
"You know where your classrooms are?" she asked.
"Uh, I think I can try to find it" I responded, in all honesty I had no idea where they were but I just wanted to get started. Because, in all honesty, I was excited for my new school. I unfolded the paper and slowly read my classes to myself until I was struck in the chest with a sword as I came to the shocking revelation that Math is a thing. I really can't stand math, and to have it first period made me want to break something, but there's nothing I can really do about it, so I guess I have to live with it.
I meandered through the labyrinthine corridors until I stumbled across room 108, where I would endure my MATH HELL for the rest of the semester. And when I entered the room my spirits plummeted even further. Room 108 was one of the rooms where, instead of having normal desks, there were table's set up for two people each. I grabbed a seat in the back corner of the room and sat down, until an angry tiger walked up to me and said "Get the fuck out of my seat" So I moved to the middle of the room and sat down at another empty desk, and as luck would have it, I was undisturbed.
About a minute before the bell was about to ring, a blur of black and brown came rushing through the classroom door and plopped down at the table next to me. He sat there for 30 seconds just panting until his ears perked and he noticed me sitting next to him.
"I uh.. hey...?" he spat out "You're new right?
"Yeah, I am."
He extended a paw, "My name is Jack, you?"
"I'm Adrien"
"Well nice to meet you" He smiled sincerely and added "I like your name too."
I couldn't help but get nervous from this, he seemed so nice, maybe he could be the only good thing about this class.
Math class passed by a bit faster than I thought it would, mainly because whenever I started to slip into boredom, Jack would whisper a really ridiculous joke, most of them were awful but we still laughed.
I should probably take this chance to describe him:
He stood a little less than six feet, and with broad shoulders so he easily towered over me and I was forced to look up to him when we talked. Somehow he managed to not be intimidating despite being bigger and taller than me. He's a Sheppie with brown fur covering most of his body, and black fur on his back, the top of is head, and some of his thighs. He has a wide smile and light green eyes that made me squirmy and nervous whenever I make eye contact with him.
Later, at lunch, Jack even asked if he could sit with me. During the meal I mostly listened to him talk about the school, such as what people and teachers to avoid, and what other classes he had. Even though I didn't participate much I still really liked listening to him, and I found out that he lives just down the street from me.
My other classes went well, I guess.... Nothing of interest to point out because, in case you haven't guessed by now, this is a story about me and Jack.
After school I headed home down the sidewalk. Small pearls of snow started to accumulate on my jacket as kept walking. It was cold out, but pleasantly so. I always loved the first few snows of the year anyways, it's always relaxing change from the dreary brown days of November. As I was gazing into the rivulets of snowflakes blowing along the sidewalk, I felt pressure on my shoulders.
"ADRIEN!"
_"Fwip-BOOF!" _Was the noise I made as I tripped and landed face first on the sidewalk into a giant loaf of powder snow. At first I was a bit too stunned to do anything, then I heard someone say "Holy shit, are you alright? I didn't mean to scare you" It was Jack. He stuck his paws out and helped me up, Adrien, the grey and white husky was now a completely white husky.
Jack sounded really worried so I felt like I had to say something "I-It's not your fault. I just tripped, don't worry" I affirmed, while brushing the snow off my coat and pants.
"You sure? I really thought I had scared you." He responded, sounding disappointed.
"Wait, you wanted to scare me?"
"Yeah, I thought it would be funny, but now I'm not so sure..." I raised an eyebrow, and started walking again.
"It's fine, don't worry." I reassured him "Anyways, which one is your house?"
"Oh, uh its that blue one over there." He pointed to a blue house behind us, on the other side of the street.
"Jack..." I replied "You kind of... walked past your house."
"I did?" he thought for a moment "Oh right! I guess I did! Well uh... see you tomorrow Adrien!"
"Bye!"
I sat on my bed for a while thinking, recollecting my first day at a new school. Nothing stood out in particular besides Jack, who was the friendliest funniest, and most adora-
Wait no, friendliest. funniest and... uh... friendliest? Whatever, he was awesome.
Feedback is always appreciated! I honestly don't know if I'll continue this... so don't get your hopes up.
While writing this I listened to Beach House's new album Depression Cherry. Its really good! Go give it a listen!
