The love of loves.1 part 1

The Pack of Silver

Kibar - the heir - The main character. He has issues with authority but has a strong spirit and the mind and body to be a proper leader one day. He is the best hunter in the pack, almost matched only by his father Janseng

Janseng - the leader: The leader of the pack of silver, he is highly respected and known worldwide by other packs. He was the first wolf ever to take down a bear by himself. Sadly not the bear of 6 years ago. he is the father of kibar and jellala.

Kalbarus: - the general: Since he was ever made general he has stuck by his leaders side, barley ever leaving his sight.

Arknel - the uncle: Being the brother of a leader is not all its cracked up to be for arknel.

A rough childhood with his brother led to him being bossed around by his older brother.

Kaara - the wife: She is the wife of janseng and is pregnant now. If shes ever had eyes for someone it was janseng.

Mallo - the mouth: Mallo has gotten into more trouble by his mouth than any other wolf has ever gotten into by nipping someones ear.

Takern - the rock: He doesnt talk unless spoken too. He barley even moves unless prompted. Though besides these misgiving he is the strongest wolf in all the pack.

Jellala - the heart: She is the most caring and compassionate wolf in all of the pack of silver by far. The only other female in the pack besides kaara, feltha, and mishna. Has a hidden love for Takern.

Flaste - was found as a pup near the edge of the camp. he likes to take risks which in the end turn out not working so well. He has lost so far one paw, both ears, a couple teeth, and most of his once beautiful tail in the past six years.

Mishna - the brain: If there was a thorn in your paw or a collapsed den, she would know exactly how to take care of it. She is responsible for finding the prime location that the pack of silver now nests in. She has a small crush on leetuk. Much like her mother.

Leetuk - the scare: Leetuk since birth has been frightened by everything from the pounding hooves of wildebeests, to the idea of hunting alone, to the sudden appearance of a falling leaf.

Faerthir - the valor: He hasn't met a beast yet that he could shy from. He was the only one from the pack of silver to be born with a golden stripe on his flank. Many think this is a sign of bravery, he regularly gets assigned with leetuk in the hopes that his bravery will rub off on him.

Jursa - the ancient: The oldest wolf in the pack to date. He cannot hear but is an excellent muzzle reader. The father of janseng, arknel, mishna, and takern. The husband of feltha.

Feltha - the wise: She is the wife of jursa. She has also has seen the growth of the pack and holds in her mind the peace of this knowledge. She finds comfort in the smallest form of pack advance, even if only a pup is born from a mother.

Klithtir - the sightless: Is now blind and partially deaf. he had a wife named Telarma who passed away when a bear ravaged camp 6 years ago. The father of leetuk, mallo, jellala, and kaara. He claims to have dreams sent to him by the gods.

He was waiting for the precise moment when to leap onto his victim, he had barley a moment to spare, he had to act fast! Kibar jumped into the stream after a huge catfish to no avail.

"Where did you learn to hunt?" yelled Arknel.

Kibar merely winced.

"I swear you get your technique from your father!" Arknel joked staring at Kibar's soaked form.

Kibar chuckled to himself, knowing exactly what his uncle had meant. Some moons ago, Kibars father , Janseng, had dove after a rabbit into its hole and had gotten stuck. Mallo was with him at the time and with his big mouth just had to blab it to the whole pack.

"Come on, that was just a slip up" barked Kibar.

"And besides you haven't caught anything yourself since you were made an elder" added Kibar.

"You listen here-" started Arknel before he was cut off by a loud howl. "That'll be your fath- pack leader" he rolled his eyes.

"Lets get going" barked Kibar.

They crossed the moor to the river camp they both smelled something foul in the air.

"What is that rank odor?" yelped Arknel wincing.

"I don't know" said Kibar, his eyes watering.

They rushed to the middle of the camp where most of the pack was gathered.

"What is it?" said Kibar as they pushed into the middle of the circle.

Kibar's mouth dropped open at the sight. a beautiful fox was in the middle of the circle of wolves, looking half starved and in need of shelter, with a deep cut in her side.

"What should we do Janseng?" Kalbarus the general asked.

"We will keep her here until she recovers and that wound heals up, then we will send her on her way, Kaara, take her into my den, and see if you can wash her well enough to be presentable"

Kibar stared in amazement at his father's unusual ferocity towards this newcomer.

"There are things we need to discuss" Janseng barked walking towards Kibar. "Six years ago my son, there was a great tragedy.

6 YEARS EARLIER

"Our kill is gone, Jursa over here!" a voice yelled out.

The pack was in complete panic.

"What is it Klithtir?" yelled Jursa bursting from his den.

"There isnt any kill left" screamed Flaste.

"How will we survive the winter?" another voice called out.

"Everyone calm down!" jursa barked. "Now is everyone here?".

Many voices called out but there were a painful amount of them missing. Jursa suddenly stopped when he scented the stench of blood rising in the air. He rushed past his sons den and was shocked at the vile scene. There were bodies of wolves strewn about the clearing. "Oh my god". "What has happened!?". A small whimper sounded from the far side of the clearing. Jursa rushed over to see his friend , Taltuk, battered and broken with long claw marks running the length of his spine.

"Jursa" he coughed.

"Save your energy friend".

"Jursa... a b-bear ran t-th-through here, stole the winter store". "W-we couldnt stop it, we saw a st-streak of red and gold... then." He glances at the destruction. Jursa looked taken aback at this news.

"Are the pups okay?". "Are they okay?".

"Y-y-yes" then came a round of spluttering and coughing up blood by taltuk. his eyes rolled up into his head, showing the bloodshot veins underneath, then fell over dead.

Jursa gaped in horror at the death of his friend, then bent his head in a silent prayer. He turned around to check on the others but saw something that caught his attention, sitting on top of the slope leading down to the encampment was a red and golden figure standing there with a look of sheer horror on its face.

PRESENT

Kibar was running along the banks of the river thinking of the story his father mentioned two days previously. It was a great spring day to hunt, when the prey was at its freshest. The sun was shining lazily over the hilltops in the beginnings of dawn. The morning glow shown brilliantly off of Kibar's pure silver coat. He was enjoying the free reign of running when he heard a noise and went instantly alert. It was a pair of rabbits hopping in a bush where a den probably hid. Kibar crept slowly towards his prey and with a silent lunge, pounced on the nearest rabbit. He grasped its head between his jaws and turn sharply, breaking its neck.

"There's something for the pups".

He hunted for an hour while taking a drink or two from the sunlit river. By the time he was done he was panting heavily and his tongue lazily lolled out in time with his breaths. He had caught enough kill to feed the pups for days to come. He picked up what he could carry and rushed over the grassy field to the moorland where the camp lay. He set the kill down inside the hollow where all the food was stored.

"Hey uhh... Takern, want to help me get the rest of the kill i caught?".

Takern simply nodded and bound away with him through the moorlands out to the field to the prey pile. It took three round trips for them to get all the pile back into the camp.

"Thanks".

Takern nodded and bound away to his den. KIbar turned to go to his den but stopped. There was a sweet aroma floating about the air and he followed it, this led him to his fathers den. Then the picture of the fox from two days ago flashed into his mind.

"Who was she, why was she here?".

Kibar stopped asking himself questions. He ever so carefully peered into his fathers den.
