Authors note: This story is NOT part of the halo universe, it only starts there with the fact that the main character is a SPARTAN, and also a dragon. Do not give any comments on it being a story about halo because its just not, its only in parallel to it, so there!

P.S. This is my first piece so go easy if I'm not all up to scratch yet, i will get better with time, thank you.

INTENTIONS

part 1

PROLOGUE

"Sir! The portal can't sustain itself much longer, its starting to collapse!"

"Just keep it open as long as you can corporal, he almost through!" The comm channel hissed static as someone tuned through, "Commander? Do you copy? Come in! This is captain Tarhknal, i cant get out of the portal, my slipsapce engine are out, and iv'e lost all power, i..... The commander cut him off, he knew what he was about to say. "Don't you dare Tarhk! I'm not losing you too!"

"I'm sorry commander, but its just the way it is........its been an honor serving with you!"

The channel hissed once more and then cut off. "Sir? Thats it, the portals collapsed, hes gone!

Tarhknal, a relatively young dragon, only 53., knew he was lost and drifting through space. He sat back in the control station chair and removed the safety restraints. "Thank god! Thought that was it!" He muttered to himself as he wiped the sweat from his prominent brow and removed the chest-plate of his custom designed Mk.IV armor revealing the black rubber under-suit beneath, along with the shoulder plates, he never wore a helmet, they were just to much hassle. He stood up out the chair, walked over to the view port and ducked his head a little so he could see, see nothing but darkness everywhere. It was odd, there seemed to be no stars at all. He thought for a moment, and then realized that he never actually managed exit slipsapce, so, the truth was he had no idea if he was in what the humans called "real space" at all. He pushed the thought out of his mind, and started on a new one, this new "jump capable" version of the longsword interceptor had proved itself to be, well, shit! It had practically fell to pieces, there were panels lying around on the floor, smoke pouring from control panels and a slightly musty smell of sweat, which he figured to be himself, and decided to wash. The one upside of this longsword was that it was fitted with a wash station for those long slipsapce journeys,. He unfastened the undersuit to reveal his scaly muscled body, he was quite large for his age at 10 feet tall, he was covered in blood red scales which coated him completely except for his torso, which had large cream colored plate-like scales, and his large dominant wing that when outstretched gave him a span of about 24 feet. He had large scars that ran the length of his arms, legs and his chest, which he remembered receiving all to well, but didn't like to think about it, his eyes, also a shade of blood red gave him a look that would make any man or dragon run in fear, although he had never actually met another one of his kind, nor did he even remember how he came to earth or who his parents were, this was a thought that gave him pain on a daily basis, why had he never seen another dragon like himself, why? He was pondering this while he washed his face and muzzle, wondering why he was apparently the only one of his kind, but his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of an alert sounding in the cockpit, quickly, he reassembled the peaces of his armor and ran to the cockpit. Upon locating the source of the alarm a puzzled expression gripped his face "Wait, what the hell?"he said as he looked at the screen in disbelievingly, according to the computer he was on course to enter the atmosphere of an unidentified planet. "I've gotta see this one for my self!" he said while biting back a laugh at what he had just saw, the humor of the situation was short lived however, as he ducked to look outside and saw a large sphere growing larger by the second, "looks like earth!" he thought as he looked at the planet, but this was banished from his mind when he saw a land mass much larger than anything he had ever seen on earth, "no, its not, damn!" he thought to himself. He stood watching the planet grow larger for a couple of minutes before he realized he had to get ready to enter the atmosphere, he knew he had no other choice but this because he had to engines and was running on backup power. He sat down in the controls and and shook the a little to check that they were still working, the ship gave a slight wobble of acknowledgment, this wouldn't be his first re-entry in fighter, but it was certainly the first he had done with no engines, which meant no way to slow down before that burn in. He couldn't help but think that the planet looked familiar to him, like he'd been there before. The longsword began to shudder violently as it burst into the planets atmosphere, the temperature inside began rising and Tarhknal broke a sweat again, it was a full ten minutes before the shaking stopped, and he got some control back,he also notice that he was losing altitude at incredible rate, he was now only 32000 feet above the ground and getting closer. He pulled back on the controls and felt the fighter struggle and the pressure it was under, the nose slowly started to rise and Tarhknal notice he was dangerously close to the ground and still in excess of Mach 3. He watched the altimeter quick wind down and stop moving at 2000 feet, he had to slow down, but how? If he lowered the flaps at this speed they would be torn off and if he raised the spoilers he could lose all control, he thought and remembered that that fighter was fitted with a drag chute in case of those overestimated landings, he knew it would slow him down enough, so he scanned the panel in front of him looking for the lever which deployed it, only just remembering that it was a switch he was looking for not a lever. He found the switch and flicked it, there was a brief pause and then a faint "bang" from the rear end of the craft which was followed by a sudden force of deceleration that was enough to make fall out of the seat. Thankful that he was the only one to see his fall he climbed back up and checked his speed, the chute had already slowed him to about 500 knots, which he knew was well within the flaps limit and so put them down. He was now starting to lose height and had now fallen below 1000 feet, he decided to raise the flaps and grabbed the controls, he looked about for a place to put down and saw what looked like a pretty good spot to his right, he slowly banked the wings trying not to stall and lowered his height so he was skimming the treetops. He neared his chosen LZ and raised the spoiler, he felt a slight deceleration and flew over the open ground and held the craft just feet from the ground, he waited for his speed to drop below 80 knots and released the controls, He felt the fighter strike the ground and start grinding along on its underbelly, he had almost came to a stop when he hid something hard on the ground, when this happened the craft latched onto whatever it had hit and flew tail-over-nose and hit the ground with a deep metallic thud, this was felt the most by Tarhknal who had struck his head violently of the overhead controls and was now lying unconscious on the ceiling, with a large wound on his head . He awoke several hours later on a large, soft bed, he tried to sit up but a sharp pain in his side stopped him from doing so. He looked around at what he could see of the room, where was he? And more to the point, who? Was he?

Section. 1

As he lay back on the pillow, he heard a conversation outside the room, which he knew could only be about him. As far as he could tell, there were two people talking, he strained to hear there voices better. "Where did you find him?" inquired a deep male voice, a females voice replied.

"About five miles from the west bank of the river, it was a mess! Debris everywhere, im surprised he survived!"

"Mm, so am i! What of his craft?"

"Not much of it survived, we salvaged what we could, but as i said, there wasn't a lot."

"Okay, what else did you discover?

"Well he was wearing some sort of armored suit, we tried to remove to make him easier to move but his body was locked rigid and the armor wouldn't budge! So we had to use the heavy lift gear to get him here."

"Wait? Did you just say you had to use the heavy lift gear? Why would you need that?"

"Well." She paused for a moment as she searched for the right words. "The readouts measured him weighing over one and a half tons!"

"One and a.......What!!? How the fuck is that possible! I mean i caught a glimpse of him and hes just a little larger than myself, and barely weigh that!

These words puzzled Tarhknal, how was he the same size as him? He himself was 10 feet, how could anyone else be as big as him?

"Do you mind if i see him? Just to check his vitals." The male voice asked.

"Not at all." She replied.

He was expecting to see a human walk through the door, but what he saw gave him the biggest shock he had ever received. What he saw was no human, but a large green scaled dragon walking into the room, shortly followed by yellow scaled female. They looked just like him, with the exception of the male who had two short black horns atop his head. "Wow! And here i thought i was the only one!"He accidentally said out loud, making them both recoil slightly with fright.

"Oh, gods! I thought you were still out of it!" The female said with fright still in her voice.

"Sorry!" Replied Tarhknal with a slight snicker. "What happened to me?"

"You were in a pretty nasty crash, you just survived!"

"I remember the crash, but nothing after it. Where am i? And who the hell am i?"

"Ah! I thought this might of happened, you must have lost your memory when you hit your head, and you hit it hard aswell. Hang on, i have something that might help." He reached for his case, and pulled out what looked like a gun, "Don't worry its not what it looks like, its a neural lace charger. And don't worry, i am a doctor."

"A what sorry? About the charger thing, i know what a doctor is, ha ha!"

"Oh! It sends an electric charge through your brain and nervous system, sort of like a mini EMP. It may help bring back the memory's you've lost."

"How effective is it?"

"Its proven itself worthy many times. Now if you don't mind, im going to need you to lie back."

Tarhknal did as was instructed and set his head on the pillow. "Oh, by the way, i never asked. What are your names?"

"My name is Rahlz." The male replied.

"And mine is Silvan, but my friends call me Silver,"

"Thanks, i guess im about to find out mine!

Rahlz raised the charger to Tarhknal's forehead. "Now im warning you now, that this is going to hurt! So brace yourself!"

"Hm, trust me iv'e endured pain that not even the gods could never imagine." He unconsciously placed his hand on one of the large scars on his arm, and ran his finger down its length before placeing his hand by his side again. "Do it!" Rahlz nodded and pushed the device into his head and pulled the trigger. A surge of pain flooded his body as electrical energy coursed through his nerves, he started to growl under his breath. He was comforted to feel Silvan hand join his and squeeze it tightly, he squeezed back in acknowledgment. It felt like forever until the device broke contact with him, he lay there panting, still holding onto Silva's hand, "Ow!"

"Well? Remember anything?" Asked Silva.

He took a while to reply, considering saying "no!" but in his mind thing cames flooding back. "Actually, yeah! I remember everything now, how i got here, my name, my age, everything. Thanks for that doc."

"Don't mention it, its just what i do best!"

"So." Silvan started. "what exactly happened?"

"Well, i was conducting a test on a new fighter prototype before it went into the field. The fighter was supposed to be capable of slipspace travel but it wasn't, because it wasn't complete, it wasn't able to keep the portal open long enough for me to get through. The portal ended up collapsing and i was left drifting in unknown space, but what i don't get is how i ended up here, there was no power aboard, and no engines. So i couldn't have got into a re-entry setup without help, so someone on this planet must have taken control of the craft from the surface, if thats even possible, is it?"

"Yes." Replied Silvan. "We have technology that can seize and manipulate objects in and out of splipspace, its still pretty new but it works."

"Well that seems to be about it, we all know what happened after that, the crash and all. Is there somewhere that deals with the splipspace technology here?"

"We will take you to see them if you want." Rahlz replied.

"Good, but first i would like to see the ship. To see if anything survived."

"We already got everything we could from it. There were some code protected cabinets if thats what your on about?"

"Exactly, those would have definetly survived, and i kinda need whats in those."

"Right, we can go now if you want, i didn't order a clean-up team till tomorrow, so we could still get some stuff."

Tarhknal nodded and sat up, wincing in pain as he did so, "Damn! That hurt, i thought the biofoam would have gotten to that by now. How longs it been since the crash?"

"About five hours" Silvan replied curiously "Why?"

"nothing' I'll explain it later." He got up and walked to the door, stopping abruptly to notice that he was without any clothing, he blushed and turned his head to face Silvan. "Um...., little help here please, its kinda chilly! He said with a wide embarrassed grin.

"OH GODS! Im so sorry i forgot, ill get you something!" She ran passed him into the next room giggling a little as she did. It was only then that he realized that Rahlz was still sitting next to the bed trying to interest himself with something across the room. "Y'know, feel free to leave at any time, im sure your quite busy and all." He said while trying not to look directly at him.

"Eh, yeah! I'd better...get....going, just in case i get a...,a..., a call, yes thats, um , bye!" He took off at a light jog and out the room, giving Tarhknal a nod of goodbye as he slid out the door. Tarhknal took the opportunity to run over to the bed and grab a pillow to cover himself with, and just in time too, as Silvan was just returning with some fresh clothes. "I found some stuff round the back, unless you would rather wear your armor?"

"Thanks Silv, and no. It takes to long to get the armor back on so ill just leave it for now."

"Okay, ill just leave the room while you get ready."

"Great, and thanks for the clothes."

"Its alright, oh, and Tarhknal....." He cut her off, "Please, call me Tarhk."

"Right, Tarhk, those boots might be a bit small, but its the best i could so, yeah!"

"It wont matter, now, if you would be so kind as to, Y'know?"

"Oh yeah!" She left the room and Tarhk got the clothes on as quickly as he could. He couldn't help but like her, she looked good, she was nice to talk to, and they got on with each other. He knew what it was, he was in love with her, but he was afraid to say anything in case she rejected him. He finished getting dressed and called to her that it was safe. "You can come in now!"

"Good, now we can go to the crash site and get what we can from the ship, its not that far so we will walk there, i hope your good to walk?"

"I'm fine, now lets go." He looked her straight in the eye as she walked past her, she couldn't help but look back into his, they were so strong and serious. They had been so entranced by each other that neither of them had realized the fact that they were now standing chest to chest with each other, Tarhknal took her waist and drew her closer. They were now standing muzzle to muzzle with each other, she slowly rubbed her muzzle against his for a couple of minutes before moving her head backwards and locking her lips with his, he did the same as her arms wrapped around him, there tounges going crazy with each other. They broke the kiss after what seemed like an eternity, and stood staring into each other until she finally spoke. "That, that was amazing, have you ever kissed any one like that before?"

"That was the first....time like that i mean! Not first kiss!" She smiled at him and move her mouth to his lips and whispered in his ear. "I love you, i love you so much!"

"I love you too, Silver." They kissed once more and left for the crash site, Tarhk had never been happier.

Section.2

It was a good forty-five minute walk to the crash site, but this didn't bother him, if anythigng it meant that he could spend more time with Silvan. "Hey Tarhk?"

"Hmm?"

"I was just wondering, about you. Who are you? And if you don't mind me asking, how did you you get those scars?"

"Ah! I knew I'd have to come clean about that eventually, its like this. I was a kind of military experiment, and a dangerous one at that, i was supposed to be the ultimate fighting machine. Iv'e been in the military for as long as i can remember, i think i was about fifteen when i was kidnapped.."

"You were kidnapped?!"

"Yeah! Sounds a bit harsh doesn't it? Anyway, i was trained in combat tactics, theory, you name it, you might I'm quite the master of war! Thats what they wanted with me, from my childhood i became built for combat and bred for war...."

"Built?"

"I'm getting to that, hang on! Now, you were wondering what i meant by "built" weren't you? Well, that has something to do with the scars...." He paused and looked at the long scar runnuing the length of his arm, them looked at Silvan, "I'm.....not completely....." He searched for the right word, "Organic, so to speak."

"What do you mean?"

He sighed, "I mean, i have who know how much electrical equipment laced throughout my body," he looked her in the eye, "I'm half machine."

"Oh!" She said with a surprised but understanding look on her face. "But your a dragon all the same."

"What? You don't care, i thought you would think i was some sort of monster!?"

"I would never think that, not about you. Your dragon enough for me!" She wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug, "I'll love you no matter what, you hear?" He couldn't help but let a tear escape him, this was the first time that anyone had loved hi for who he was, and not because they had to. "Thank you." He said and kissed her forehead, they broke their grip on each other and Silvan spoke. "But you still haven't explained the scars." she said softly.

"Oh, right.....Well as i said, i had all sorts of things added to my body and one of those thing was what gave me these scars..."

She took his hand and squeezed, "Go on?"

"I had a ceramic compound infused throughout my skeletal system, it made my bone virtually unbreakable."

"Wow, did it hurt?"

"Well, i was awake when i had it done, but could you imagine having a white-hot poker being dragged through your bone marrow, well thats how much it hurt!"

"I'm so sorry, i take it that why your didn't worry when Rahlz was using the charger huh?"

"Yeah, and don't be sorry, it wasn't your fault. All that matters is that its in the past."

"Okay, thats all i wanted to know, now we must get a move on or we wont get anything from the ship!"

"Right lets go!"

As they headed off, he had only one thought on his mind......why him?
