A Midnight Dance Ch. 2 Part 3
That moment seemed to stretch on and on into eternity, it was as enormous and slow moving as any glacier, its colossal shape moving and melting as its unstoppable force slammed, battered, beaten and bashed in an all out battle against the carefully erected walls that surrounded Elliot’s psych, and now they were falling as they were beaten into unrecognizable shapes by the tender, raw love, and care, that Elliot had been starving to have for so long. it was a force that dismissed the very laws of Elliot’s reason governed mind. It was like having air for the first time like a pup just born, he gasped it in. Elliot blinked hard as if coming back from deep consuming thoughts, and just like that the walls slammed back into place tighter and thicker than before. He pushed forcefully away from Clay his head shaking from side to side. “I don’t know what I just said. I don’t even know you.” Elliot searched desperately to change the subject.
“I need clothes.” Elliot said looking down and away as he sat back down on the bed. “Not that I don’t appreciate the loose fitting underwear." Elliot gestured with a hint of a smile; he was trying to lighten the mood.
“Yeah Mollisa sent Godrick out two days ago to get you some clothes.” Clay finally spoke as he went to the other side of the desk and removed a small stack of cloth setting it on the edge of the bed. “Godrick?” Elliot asked raising his brow. Clay nodded, “Yeah Godrick's Mollisa’s grandson and he’s here often enough.” Clay opened the door, "Elliot, I'm sorry about what i said I wasn't myself, I dont know what i was thinking when i said it." Clay moved to leave but stopped at the door and was now staring at the door knob in his paw as he spoke, his white tipped ears were down, when he finally looked up from the knob to Elliots eyes was when everything changed, and not just a little change like a different colored wardrob, oh no. This was a full on slap to the face Hail mary tranfformation that practically happened before his eyes. One moment Elliot was shyly glancing into Claytons peircing blue eyes, and the next instant it was like an impossibly thin misty membrain melted away from Claytons most dominating features reavealing something compleatly different, not only did this fog; or maybe that wasnt really what it was, it was more like an immediate awarness of things that had preaviously been obscured from his attention, and compleatly out of the realm of Elliots conscious notice. it was like having an invisible magician suddenly pull open the curtins shouting Ta Da! but the things that were prevously hidden were now glaring like a bright light in his awarness. this event caused Elliot to flinch for no apparent reason, his head swung around from side to side his muzzle gaping a moment before he registered the impossiblity of what just happened. With it the flood gates of fright flowed into his mind. Clayton noticed Elliots flinch and seemed to sense his mounting fear. The transfermation had washed first over Clayton's feartures then out and over the rest of the room spreading outward away from him like a crashing wave. Clays once deep peircing blue eyes were now a stunning golden crimson as he studdied Elliot, a look of concern replaced his preavous demeanor of regreat. Clay's eyes werent the only thing that'd changed either. His fur was like defore but now was different replaced with an over all gray texture but something more to it, every strand of fur started as a brilliant white from the base of his skin and turned to a glossy black at the ends, keeping his over all graying color but now it looked to have been done by a professional fur stylist. Only his compleatly white tipped ears were the same.
Even the books on the shelves looked different and in greater disarray. "Are you ok? you look like you just saw a goust." Clayton said as he watched Elliots eyes dart around the room like a ping pong ball. Elliots arm was starting to shiver, but he tried hiding it with a guesture towards the door. "I'm ok," He lied, "I was just thinking that i should get dressed If you dont mind please?" He asked with an air of hesidensy. Clayton slowly nooded and left the room closing the door behind him.
standing half naked in the room Elliot looked around again. a moment ago where the wall of book filled shelves stood now revealed a small door the th book cases surrounding it. the door looked thin which suggested that it might be a small storage room or closset or possibly even a little pantryroom. Elliots whole body was shaking like a leaf at this point, and he knew he was a breath away from a panic attack the he couldnt afford to have in a straners home. taking a deep calming breath he battled against irrationality of his fear, but not knowing what was happening to him was making the fear hard to supress. he reasoned that he was hallucinating and that was what just happened. which meant that if he reatched for the door handle and tried to open a door that in reality wasnt really there would cause a conterdiction in his head and make the hallucinatin go away.
Whincing with the sorness and pain still in his head Elliot stood on wobbily legs. He stared for a moment at the door that he knew couldnt really be there, he took a still disorinantated step closer to the phantom door half expecting it to melt away out of site again. Claytons loose fitting boxers started to slid down past Elliots hips, but he caught them before they had a chance to fall compleatly off his thin frame, his paw held them to his waist as he studied the door. It was like the other door Clayton had just exited out of, a dark smooth oak wood with a brass knob. Elliot realized that he was hyperventilating. not knowing why he was seeing things that werent really there and worreing more and more about the damage that had been done to his head to cause this hallucinatin, he tentitavely and with strenuess trepidation reached out to grasp the knob. Again he expected it to vanishe into nothinness, when it didnt hes surprise turned to fear.
He opened it. Beyond the door was a dimly lit space about the size of a large closet you might find with a master bedroom. the walls held many books and cases holding everything from papers to old nasty looking jars with what looked like mold and other unidentifyable things. the dim light was flickering against the walls casting nearly as many shadows as illuminating light. Elliot squinted and stepped past the doors threshhold into the dimmer setting letting his eyes ajust. the light was coming from a circle of a dosen nearly spent candles aranged in a circle on a small squat table. the candles colors ranging in a variety dark tones. In the center of the circle of flickering light sat some kind of bowl. He took another step closer for a better look, fear nipping at his limbs in protest trying to tell him to get out.
With a sharp gasp Elliot realized what he was seeing, all of it. The thing Elliot had mistaken for a bowl was a large skull of some kind, it had been set up side down in the center of the arangment of melted candles. The bottom of the skull where the neck would have been connected was hollowed out to create a kind of bowl, and in this bowl he saw a black glistening hunk of meat the size of his fist, a large knife had been thrust through the chunk of gory mass pinning it to the inside of the skullblood as black as ink ozzed drom it and down where it collected into a soupy mass inside the skull. Elliot was shaking vilently with fear, tears were running down his cheeks as he mentally fought to understand what he was seeing. A black drop splattered down out of the darkness above and onto one of the glisening white fangs of the skull holding the heart. another one fell, this one closer to the meat of the heart. somthing dark nearly black slowly twisted in the air above the skull. then he saw it. a short mouse hung up side down from chains off the cealing. metal cuffs around its wrists tied its arms behind its back where some of its weight pulled on them causing its upper back to arch in a jay, and exposing his chest down and out. its fur was black and it blended with the dark interior of the room which was why he didnt see it first. its slow twisting turn from the chain alowed Elliot to see the bloody gaping hole where its heart had been. the gaping hole ozzed a slow leaking trail of blood that ran a course down its neck to the top of its wide open snout which was hangin open in a silent death scream or possibley a snarl, to the tip of its nose where it collected into a small coagulated stalactite where it dripping down into the skull below. Inside its muzzle Elliot could see the uncharacteristic monsrously over sized fangs of a K9. A rolling torrent of overwhelming anxiety swept through him opening up a black hole of utter and undiluted terror that left no room for reasoned thought. the room was starting to wave and spin as the terror forced his mind back into dark memories from long ago. he could see the chains streched over his head now as they hung from the cealing connecting to the cuffs on his wrists, he felt like a trapped animal again. "Nooo..." he whimpered softly as he struggled to stay standing against the dissying panic. Elliot noticed movment in a darker corner of the room. it moved into the dim flickering light. it was a dalmatian pup, he couldnt be more than two years old, and he was covered in blood. a puddle of the blood had stained the floor below the small table, probably from when the mouse had been murdered. the skull that was being used as a bowl had spilled or was leaking from the knife stuck into its center. the pup with its child like wondermend looked up at Elliot and smiled... then in a blink a white misting cloudy light swollowed the child and expanded into a larger shape then its features solidified into a solid shape. A mirrored image of himself now stood before him... complete with the oversized boxers and all, but with one exception, it was still covered in streaks of blood. animal instinct overrod Elliots brain and he ran for his life with the world still spining on full tilt.
