Thyl

A dragon with a mysterious beginning who was hatched into a pack but no one birthed his egg, it was found on day in the woods by a pack as they were moving to a cave for the winter, the egg was a deep black color and the pack was curious of its origin but no one knew, and if they did they couldn't tell. Once it hatched two young dragons decided to parent him. Thyl was a playful hatchling that was unusually strong and grew fast. The pack soon found out that Thyl was a young firebrand with a short temper and quick to make a decision, but his decisions helped the pack for the most part no matter how reckless they were, he's a noble dragon that has a pure heart and would do anything to protect the love of his life. Thyl won Nasha's heart when they were very young. Nasha was out in an open field during the summer and only a few years old the grass was up to her chin, so it seemed to be no more than good fortune when she saw it. A large lizard like creature with six legs called a clenshaw began stalking her. When she noticed she darted away from the clenshaw and towards the pack, the clenshaw now knew that Nasha saw it so it sprinted after her. As Nasha was running she let out a helpless roar, Thyl was off by himself away from the pack relaxing in the sun when he looked up and saw that she needed help and he bolted off to aid her without any hesitation. Thyl, who was just a few years older than her and maybe twice her size, was running through the field attack the clenshaw. Thyl was running as fast as his legs would let him, the reeds and grasses were whipping against his face and were drawing blood but he just kept running, determined to help Nasha. When Nasha and Thyl intersected she was barely ahead of the six legged nuisance. Thyl pounced on the clenshaw stopping it from chasing Nasha, it tried to get away but Thyl was standing on its back. Thyl grabbed the back of its head with his mouth and adding a quick, violent shake of his head he broke its neck. Nasha was grateful and from then on they seemed to be inseparable.

Nasha

A compassionate dragon who wants good to come from any situation, she has been through a lot over the years starting when she was no more than a hatchling. She was hatched into a warrior pack that only kept the strongest of their kin. She had to fight her own brothers and sisters to attempt to have a pack to call family. Nasha fought and even killed many of her pack members but at the young age she was made to fight, she didn't care. After seemingly countless brawls Nasha was one of the last dragons to fight but she was defeated when the other hatchling tore into her rib cage and knocked her out with a powerful blow to her head. She was taken to the forest and left to die. Nasha was found by a dragon whose named was Alaris who was large with a deep grey color that seemed to comfort Nasha. Alaris left his pack when he was an adult to live on his own, he found Nasha when he was an elder dragon so it was almost impossible to know how old he was. Alaris came to care for her until she could go out on her own, but when the time came to let her go he couldn't they had grown to close and he fathered her. Not long after, he died in an attack from raiding dragons that needed land and food. When Alaris died she hurried into the forest to get away from the raiding dragons, as she was running she looked back to see if she was safe and got her rear paw snagged by a protruding root and at the speed she was running it pulled her ankle out of its socket and she wasn't able to hunt until it healed, while hobbling through the forest she lost her way. Nasha wondered around the forest with way of getting food except for the occasional dead bird or carcass of some sort but it wasn't enough. For several weeks she ate almost nothing and was near starvation when she collapsed upon a large tree with all sorts of flowers around it, Thyl found her while he was hunting. She was asleep on the tree in a small clearing. Nasha was too weak to walk on her own and was deprived of food for so long that you could every bone in her body. Thyl woke her up and helped her back to his pack and they accepted her like one of their own hatchlings. At first they were good friends, but as time passed and they grew to be young adults and soon they became mates in life and in spirit.

"Their love will evermore be an eternal flame, forever and always, through majestic and merciless times, they will always be side by side, they will live, laugh, and even dance with death."

Ch. 1 The Dragons

As they flew into the darkness over the wide spread woods of Terrenus, Nasha wanted to go back to the pack but she knew that Thyl and her had to make a new life for themselves. Thyl who was at the young age of twenty-three years was a large bright white dragon whom had green eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness with finlike horns that faded into black and coming off the sides of his head which is a very rare trait for any type of dragon. He has a small knife like horn coming out of the top of his muzzle. He also has large spines going about half way down the back of his neck. Nasha, Thyl's beloved mate who was nineteen was a little smaller than Thyl but was still relatively large for her age was a red color that was darker than crimson with a slightly brighter red underside. She had unique eyes from any other dragon. They had a pure essence of beauty in them and were bright red which wasn't entirely uncommon for dragons but almost all of them don't have black pupils with most their entire eye was red but she had a black pupil, red iris and the rest was white. Nasha unfortunately has an extremely rare condition where her body couldn't support the life of an egg so she can't continue her lineage even so; Thyl has no intentions of leaving her alone.

They were flying as quiet as possible to make sure they didn't attract unwanted attention but they didn't go unnoticed. As you may or may not already know is that some dragons are relatively docile but most are extremely hostile and some may even kill anything that gets too close. Thyl and Nasha are about to find out just how aggressive they get.

They flew silent for a while but they soon became restless and began to race each other. It started with Thyl he just looked at Nasha and smirked slightly then he took off with a push of his massive wings that staggered Nasha a little, that was a sign for her to go after him. They were going as fast as their wings could carry them. With each push of their wings it gave them a small burst of speed, suddenly Thyl dove into a steep decent and almost immediately Nasha did the same now they were in the steep dive for a few seconds and were so close to the forest canopy that it grazed their noses. They were racing close to the forest canopy with only a few inches between them and the trees with the occasional branch brushing their underbelly Thyl and Nasha locked eye contact for a few seconds and he smiled and Nasha smiled back. Just as suddenly as they dropped to the ground they swooped up to the sky going straight up toward the moon which was right above them. At an extremely steep angle they spiraled around each other several times until they were far above the forest below then they leveled themselves out and were just gliding with their wing spread as far apart as possible when Nasha looked at Thyl and Thyl at Nasha when she saw it.

A gigantic dragon that was probably twice her size and was as black as the void and it seemed to glisten in the moon-light with wings that looked like giant blades; its eyes were red as fire, it had several spines on the back of its head and it had talons that seemed to glow white and looked like they could easily crush boulders. When Nasha saw it she noticed it was barging towards Thyl. She didn't have time to try to get his attention so she acted out of instinct and attacked it. Nasha made a quick snap turn and flew at the dragon full speed and when she got close enough to the dragon she tried to bite it's the neck but missed because the dragon saw her coming and did a barrel role which knocked her out of the sky like a bug by one of its giant wings. Thyl didn't know what was happening all he saw when he went to look at what she was flying after, was her body falling through the air.

Nasha was dazed and fading in and out of consciousness all she saw was Thyl and the other dragon colliding in the air but she couldn't see what was going on. With a loud "THUD" she hit the ground in a clearing with no trees to break her fall, while she was falling her wing wrapped around the front of her body so when she smashed onto the clearing her wing was broken and one of her front legs were shattered on impact. She let out a helpless roar and passed out from the pain.

Thyl was fighting the dragon with all his strength constantly slashing and biting at it but he was fighting out of rage and the dragon easily countered every attack Thyl put in. Thyl was so blinded by rage that he didn't have the time to react when the dragon bit into his neck. Thyl let out a miffed roar and saw the blood running down his neck, for a split second Thyl thought he was going to die, then he remembered Nasha, how much she meant to him, the time that they spent together and to him it was like inspiration and he found the will to fight, not just for him but also for her. Thyl let out a terrifying roar, Thyl was able to get the dragon off of his neck by stabbing it in the rib cage several times with his front talons. The dragon let go of Thyl and shrieked out a pained roar. Thyl had his mind back in the right place and got some distance between him and the dragon, now he was ready to attack it. They were circling each other in the night sky. Thyl had the moon to his right and the dragon to his left so he could be able to rush the dragon without it seeing him coming. At least if he was fast enough. Thyl took the chance and made a quick turn and opened his wings as wide as possible to get a straight shot at the dragon without diving down any, but just as he was about on the dragon, it turned toward Thyl and was soaring right at him. They were going head to head and were about to smash into each other when the dragon lifted up just slightly and Thyl went right under him. Thyl saw a glimmer out of the corner of his eye he turned to see what it was and saw that the dragons' tail had several metallic spikes coming out of it from all sides on the tip. He saw it first then he felt it. A sharp pain in his wing, he looked to see what happened and saw that the spines ripped a segment of the membrane out of his left wing. He began to veer to the right, the dragon was already turned around and ready to attack again. Thyl tried his best to balance out but it was almost impossible with his injured wing. Thyl and the dragon flew on collision course for each other and when they collided it was a mass of confusion. They were flying high in the sky and latched onto each other as they tried their best to stay air born by flapping their wings but with Thyl's bad wing and the sheer size of the other dragon was throwing them off balance. They were slashing and biting at each other and missing almost every attack until the dragon put a slash on Thyl's neck and left three large wounds which caused Thyl to react accordingly and swipe at the dragon and put one long deep slash down its throat which staggered the dragon for just long enough for Thyl to go in for the kill by attempting to bite its neck. He used both of his front talons and grabbed the dragon by the back of the neck and began to pull it towards him. When the dragon realized what Thyl was trying to do it began to struggle to get away from him but it was tired and was losing strength. It didn't have much fight left.

Thyl was about to bite the dragon when it put its hind talons on Thyl's leg and began to dig at his leg down to the bone. Thyl let out a roar from the pain but he didn't let go of the dragon he just pulled harder and got the dragon close enough to his mouth but the dragon didn't give up. The dragon kept eye contact with Thyl and biting at him to make sure that Thyl wouldn't get his neck. But Thyl was fed up with it and the next time it closed its mouth after it bit at him Thyl let go of the dragon's neck and immediately grabbed its head and looked deep into its eyes, knowing it was the last thing the dragon would see. Thyl then used his talons and drove them into its eyes. It let out a horrified roar that sounded like the shriek of the damned, as Thyl clawed its eyes the dragon kept roaring and clawing at Thyl's arms blood was running down his arms and Thyl was bleeding on most parts of his body. He then brought its head up as it was shrieking like a hatchling and bit right where its skull met its neck as hard as he could and then ripped out its throat, the dragon made a short gurgling sound and went limp. It was dead. As it fell Thyl didn't care about the meat he just wanted Nasha. He glided toward the ground but had trouble staying balanced with the damage done to his wing, he was constantly shifting his weight with the wind and did a strong gust of wind made him do a full flip that nearly made him plummet towards the ground.

Thyl attempted to get a skillful landing at the edge of the forest but when he was about to land a sudden blast of air got under his wing and pushed on his right side, normally it wouldn't be a problem but with the membrane being completely gone in between two of the fingers on his left wing he wasn't able to stop from veering to the left and crashed into the ground with his wing being first the rest of his body following Thyl skidded across the ground for several feet. When his entire body stopped it had left a sizeable gouge in the earth. He struggled to get to his feet and was a little shaken. After a fall like that it's expected.

Thyl gimped into the woods trying not to use the leg that the dragon dug into he was weak from the loss of blood and needed to rest but only after he found Nasha. When he first got in the woods the trees made it almost impossible to see but he didn't give up. After a tedious hour of walking he began to roar. It wasn't a frightful roar though. The roar was filled with worry and sadness. Thyl waited for Nasha to respondâ€"nothing. Just the sounds of the night, he roared again but still no answer. He didn't give up though, roar after painful roar he heard nothing. He was crushed, the only being he would ever love was dead, Thyl sank in the cold grass and curled up with his tail wrapping around behind his head. He sat there wishing they had just stayed with the pack, he felt something rolling down his cheek, he used the tip of his tail to wipe it off and saw that it was a tear. Thyl hated himself at that point; he knew it was his entire fault. Then he heard it, a faint far off cry for help. It was a roar and it was Nasha. Thyl stood up as fast as he could and headed towards the sound of the roar. He didn't care about his leg anymore; he walked as fast as he could towards the roar he stumbled on the first few steps. Later he heard Nasha again, it was still far off and quiet but it was clearer than before, he was on the right track.

Nasha was on the ground barley conscious and shaky, yet she had enough strength to try and roar again, but all she did was wheeze and faintly growl. She tried once more and getting the right tone this time and releasing a defining roar that she heard echo in the distance, she heard birds take wing from the sound of her roar. Nasha waited for Thyl, silently she lay there, listening for anything that could be him but all she heard was the sound of the late summer night crickets, night animals, an occasional breeze, and a raging river off in the distanceâ€"a rustle of the foliage to here right. She looked up and was hoping to see Thyl but that optimism soon came crashing down. This was a dragon about as big as her and looked like it was a deep blue color like the depths of the ocean but she couldn't quite tell in the moon light; it was baring its yellow stained teeth and was ready to eat. Nasha's adrenaline kicked in and she conjured up enough strength to attempt to stand and protect herself but she was still drained from the fall and knew that if Thyl didn't come soon she would not be long for this world. Nasha was standing up and ready to defend herself as best she could, the dragon was staring at her with cold, emotionless, black eyes; it was rearing up, ready to pounce on her. Nasha roared once more and snapped her jaws toward the dragon trying to intimidate it. But it just sat there waiting for the perfect momentâ€"suddenly. The dragon leaped at Nasha with its body fully extended it was at the height of its jump when a white blur burst out of the forest. It was Thyl. He slammed into the dragon with just enough force to shove it to the ground. They hit with a thunderous "THUD!" when they hit the ground Thyl landed almost perfectly except that he stumbled because of his leg, but the dragon was completely thrown off balance and rolled with the force Thyl put out, it was trying to crawl away but Thyl paced up to it at a brisk speed and grabbed the back of its neck, the dragon let out a terrified roar that sounded like a yelp and with a quick flick of his neck and a short "snap" the dragon fell, and a few seconds of convulsing followed, Thyl decided it wasn't going to bother them again.

He walked up to Nasha and laid down next to her and gazed at her with a worried look that seemed to ask "what have we gotten ourselves into?" Thyl and Nasha lay side by side embracing each other and they sat there waiting to fall asleep.

They laid there in the quiet, cold night waiting to sleep but it was impossible since the pain they're in. Thyl sat there licking his wounds and glanced at Nasha to see that she was looking at him as if waiting for something. He didn't think anything of it and continued nursing his wounds. He felt something on his back and saw Nasha was attempting to get up, he helped her and she just took a few uneasy steps and reared up like she was ready to dash off. Thyl waited for something to happen, nothing but Nasha turned her head around to face him with the same look in her eyes. Then she lifted her tail. She was presenting to Thyl. Thyl slowly walked over to her. He knew that he loved her and she loved him so he accepted and mated with her. When dragons' mate it's more of a spiritual experience than anything else, it's almost like they live each other's lives in those few blissful moments. It was amazing for both of them. As the two of them mated they remembered all of their past experiences together. It was the most memorable night the ever had together. After they had mated the two of them lay down in the middle in the clearing and looked deeply into the others eyes with an expression that seemed to say "I love you." And they were quickly overtaken by sleep.

The wind was gusting through the leafless trees in mid autumn, the sun hadn't broken through the clouds and a dense fog lay on the ground. A boy with long, deep black hair and bright blue eyes, he was no older than thirteen and dressed in rags was...
