Diplomacy part 1
#4 of The Black Knight of Equestria
Another day had passed and the Canterlot Garden Party was just around the corner or in this case a few hours away. Stormwind was not really into dressing for the occasion and stuck to his usual attire only this time without his swords.
Blueblood had dropped by to see how he was progressing and though it was no surprise he wished his cousin had chose a more formal outfit.
"Really cousin must you wear that ALL the time?"
"What? Black is my favorite color."
"Well to each his own."
The two cousins then proceeded to the royal garden where the party was already in full swing and Luna was the guest of honor presiding over the event.
Many of the nobles greeted the two princes arriving on the scene, both with friendly smiles on their faces. Among the party guests were Fancy Pants and his mare friend Fluer De Lis; two of the most important ponies in Canterlot who were coming up to Stormwind for a friendly chat as he sipped some tea with a plate of horderves next to him.
"Would you mind if we joined you?"
"Not at all. Please."
Offering up two available seats the couple sat down as he poured them some tea while listening to the soothing music provided by the Canterlot Orchestra, time passed and the party went on without incident while in the shadows a figure crept by silent and still like a ghost.
The intruder was hooded and cloaked so as not to be seen by anyone as he slowly snuck into the castle past the guards, it seemed to go well for the mysterious figure when suddenly a vase was knocked over and the alarm was sounded. Stormwind was first on the scene as he spotted the intruder giving chase through the castle halls.
"STOP!"
He cried out as he got closer hoping the intruder would halt but to no avail. Having no choice he charged the intruder full speed tackling him to the ground hearing a female voice cry out. The intruder was a mare!
"Please! don't hurt me!!"
The hooded mare was soon surrounded by guards lead by Luna who was enraged at the garden party being interrupted. Two of the guards forced the mare up to her feet removing her hood then gasping in shock. She was a changeling, though he had seen them before Stormwind had never laid eyes on a female changeling.
Her mane was emerald green and her coat black as night and unlike the males their were no holes in her body, to the guards and Luna she was a monster but to Stormwind she was the most beautiful mare he had ever seen.
"Who are you?"
Luna demanded as she stood in front of her arms crossed and eyes firmly fixed waiting for an answer as the guards threw her to the ground.
"Princess Luna. I am Crysta; Daughter of Queen Chrysalis. I've come asking for your help."
Despite her doubts Luna could see there was desperation in her eyes followed by fear and decided she would wait for morning so that Celestia could hear her out.
Stormwind volunteered to watch her for the rest of the night while his aunt got some rest and without hesitation Luna agreed on the condition that a few guards escorted them back to his chambers. Needing to act like a soldier on duty Stormwind tied the mares wrists together with a small rope and began leading her down the halls until at last coming to his room.
"In!"
He said in a stern voice as she went into his room before ordering the guards to watch the door for the rest of the night. Once things settled down Stormwind pulled out a small dagger approaching Crysta who began trembling with fear as she closed her eyes expecting the worse when she suddenly felt the ropes binding her being cut loose, as she rubbed the tension away from her wrists she could not help but stare at the young stallion who freed her as he offered her a pillow and blanket.
"It's cold tonight. Take these."
"Thank you..."
Like any changeling Crysta could sense when somepony was in love but she never expected it to be towards her as she blushed slightly while he turned around to go to bed in the next room. As she laid on the sofa Crysta pulled out a small locket and with it her mothers picture, stroking it gently her thoughts drifted back to the night she left her mother feeling guilty but soon her eyes became focused as she gripped the locket tight as if it was being stolen.
"Hold on mother..."
She then closed the locket falling asleep while unknown to her Stormwind was listening in to what she was saying and grew more curious as to why an enemy of Canterlot would come seeking help.
The End.
