My Little Necros
Something I threw together ages ago, but could never publish here. Going to try again. I'm not that proud of it, but I wanted to make sure it got posted here too.
The day was winding down and the sun was setting on the horizon as most of the citizens of the nearby little town were probably settling down for a good nights sleep. On a small hill just outside of town however, something strange was happening. The air seemed to ripple slightly, so faintly that unless you were standing there and staring right at it you would likely not notice. However, something was happening, because the air rippled again a moment later and then the distortion grew until it was easily five feet across. The air seemed to fold into itself then, growing darker until it took on the strangest form…that of a small pony. The creature stood around three feet tall, though a little of that was a cute little nub of a horn that topped the creatures head. The pony was covered in a soft, dark black coat that seemed to shimmer in the fading light while it’s mane and tail were a shockingly bright white, even if both of them seemed a little unkempt and shaggy. Adorning each of its flanks was an odd yellow circle, almost like a face, except the eyes were two circles of different sizes and the mouth was a straight line, giving it a rather odd look. The creature had solid, glowing eyes that took in it’s surrounding, the rose colored glow they gave off growing brighter as the creature grinned hugely, revealing rows of blunt teeth moments before a soft, silky and clearly female voice told the night air around it, “Oh, this is going to be such fun!”
In town things were not quiet and calm however, this was Nightmare Night and all the little fillies and colts were excited at the prospect of free candy and getting to dress up! Giggles and squeals filled the air all around town as the night got underway, the odd little pony that wandered into town not drawing much attention at first other than a soft little awed voice declaring, “Oh, wow! That costume is so cool!” before his mother led him off. The odd pony grinned even more as she peered around at all the costumes, making her way a gathering off to one side near the edge of town, ears perking up to listen to the oddly rhymed story about some boogey…err…mare creature. She cocked her head to one side as said creature seemed to show up, running along with the rest of the group, herd…whatever as they fled back into town, still grinning hugely at how much fun this was already!
It wasn’t long at all before the strange chariot the creature rode followed them into town, the creature that jumped down to land seeming to frighten everyone even more as it tossed back its hood to reveal a dark coated mare with a long horn. Everyone started groveling, so with a little shrug she did as well, ears folding back as the newcomer started talking WAY too loud about being a princess or something. She should probably pay a little more attention, really. She had to fight back a snerk as the supposedly scary creature started to leave in a huff a moment later, doing her best to stay back and pretend to be as scared by this as all the other ponies. As one lavender unicorn started to leave to follow the odd pony she found herself following at a discreet distance…this was just too much fun already!
What followed was a delightful montage of events as the lavender unicorn lead the odd pony around to apparently try and help her blend in more, the pony stalking them grinning impishly and somehow staying hidden despite the glow she constantly gave off from her eyes. She blinked as she watch the shy little Pegasus they went to first managed to flatten herself against the door to her quaint little cottage, the butter-yellow pony acting a lot like one of her own friends, enough so to draw a quiet little chortle from her as she watched them talk. She found herself fighting back even louder noises of mirth that would give away her hiding spot as a group of ponies led by a pink pony dressed as a chicken wandered up the path to the cottage and promptly ran off screaming after the chicken declared that some sort of evil was afoot. Ahoof? Whatever. She found herself boggling some at the adorable sad look the ‘scary nightmare’ put on when the children all fled, making a mental note to find this pony later when the fun was all over.
She followed them into town once more; tail twitching happily as they apparently went to see yet another friend of this lavender unicorn. In town they met a pony dressed as a scarecrow with straw sticking out of her blonde mane and tail who also cowered away from the ‘scary pony’. This just kept getting more and more entertaining! As they started playing games she sidled over to one of the games that apparently involved apples and plucked one from the water, munching idly as she watched them toss spiders and launch pumpkins of all things, though that last one looked rather fun…especially if they would use something with a little more power. Maybe a nice trebuchet? Things were just starting to settle and get less hilarious when the chicken-pony returned again to stir things up, her ears perking at the sudden flare of magic that animated the little plush spiders they had used in some sort of throwing game. She found herself giggling faintly once more as the ‘scary pony’ apparently started to tire of all the antics of the residents as an all out panic erupted. She found herself arching an eyebrow as the odd pony with wings and a horn started floating upwards and speaking in that rather loud voice once more to melodramatically decree the cancelation of the festivities, the odd pony in the crowd snickering and muttering to herself, “Drama queen.”
Once more the lavender unicorn wandered off and she found herself following, snagging another apple for the road. She followed along, idly crunching on her snack as she watched the unicorn catch up with and then start talking to the ‘scary pony’ from before. She gave a soft little huh and followed as the two went separate ways again, watching the unicorn lay out a trail of candy for some strange reason. Things had just started to get dull again when the pony-chicken wandered into the alley were the unicorn was apparently hiding, almost giving herself away with giggles once more as the chicken was pounced on and lectured by the odd little lavender mare. The ‘scary pony’ was there again and the two started talking, though they didn’t get far before a cloud seemed to wander in and suddenly shoot lightning and thunder loudly, scaring the chicken off again.
She idly hmmed to herself as she once more found herself wandering to the edge of town, giving a little giggle as the ‘scary pony’ apparently decided to play along with the reactions she had been getting, murmuring under her breath, “Ohh, the fangs were a nice touch.” As everything settled in, she found her attention wandering some, perking up as she noticed the ‘scary pony’ was getting ready to leave. She grinned impishly as she waited until they started to leave before setting out to follow them, watching the chariot head towards a rather large castle built into the side of some mountains in the distance. She gave a little huh and cocked her head to one side, muttering, “Why does that look familiar?” She shrugged and teleported to where the chariot looked to be landing, drawing some startled reactions from several nearby guards. Even as the chariot in question drew into sight she explained, “Ehh…hehe, sorry about that. Just wanted to talk to the alicorn in that chariot ther…” That was about as far as she got as she noticed the pure white alicorn staring at her, both of them declaring at almost the same time, “YOU!” “YOU?!” The odd pony grinned impishly a moment later and gave a little wink as she said, “Well, hello there hot stuff!”
