Spyro and Cynder: New Beginnings Ch.3 Dreams and Choices
#3 of Spyro and Cynder; A New Beginning
Spyro took a step back at this realization. He looked himself over, then at Blue. However could this stranger turn them into a..a human? Granted he knew there would be magic involved. But how could they cope? He and Cynder have been dragons all their lives.
Blue watched Spyro as he seem to be deep in thought. It would definitly be a big change. But how could he say it wasn't permanent. Blue thought on this himself. Granted he knew the dangers of dragons just minding their own business and be attacked by some adventurer.
Blue then decided they should get some sleep, the moon was directly over head. He clapped his hands to get Spyro's attention. then motioned to the moon and Cynder. "Sleep....now" He motions to Spyro as if he is going to sleep.
Spyro comes back to reality when Blue clapped his hands. "Slee....ow" Blue says, then moves around as if he is getting comfortable. Spyro looks at the moon. It is getting kinda late, he thought. He nods to Blue then gets comfortable against Cynder's back, and falls asleep.
In the World of Dreams....
Blue was flying. High above the lands he calls home. 'I've never had a flying dream before, and definitly not this real,' he thought to himself. He tried to look at hands, and found to his amazement that he was looking at white, silvery dragon talons.
"What the..." Blue arched his neck to look at the rest of him, and noticed his neck arched a lot more than a human's neck. He saw that indeed he had the body of a white, silvery scaled dragon. Powerful wings, taunt muscles showing off his dragon phisque, sharp talons that could rip just about anything, and a powerful but graceful looking tail with some fur at the end of it.
"Haha, this is nuts!" Blue says as he starts to perform arieal acrobatics. After a while Blue quits the acrobatics when he begins to feel tired.
"I thought you can't get tired in dreams." He says to himself as he catches his breath. His muscles hurting from the build-up of lactic acid. He then spots a lake below him.
"Haha, ok, I can't resist the temptation." Blue says as he dives toward the lake. The land rushing up to meet him, almost as if to swallow him for a snack. He extends his wings at the last moment and glides over the water, dragging a talon across the surface, as he heads for the shoreline. He collapses his wings and does a small dive into the water, resurfacing and lands on the shore.
"Wow that felt refreshing." Blue says as he shakes himself off. His body giving off small sparkles as water and sun reflect off of his scales.
"Now I've seen the rest of me, lets see about my face." Blue looks at himself with the lakes reflection. "For a dragon, I look pretty damn handsome." A nice sleek face, nicely tapered ears, 2 horns that advertised his smooth, sleek face, and of course his piercing blue eyes. As Blue is admiring his handsome face in the lake, eyes watch him from the shadow of the woodline.
A nagging feeling begins to push into Blue's thoughts. That same feeling like when he felt the hunter's presence. All of a sudden he hears a something snap. Blue jumps and does a complete 180 spin, ready to face anything that dares to threaten him. But then he's taken by surprise. A dark blue dragon is facing him. It is about the same size as him, but yet smaller, possibly more feminine.
"Um...Hi...umm, I hope I didn't scare you." Says the dragon. Blue notices she can't seem to make eye contact with him.
"No,...ok, you did scare me, a little bit." Blue uses two talons to measure out how 'scared' he was.
"Haha, my name is Sa'phira. I live in this area." She raises a claw and pans it to incorporate the area of the lake. "What is your name?" She tilts her head in question.
"Um, my name...my name is..." Blue stuttered. Damn it all, what was his name? He's never truly had a name. Ever since he could remember, people have just called him whatever they had felt like calling him, but he knew it wasn't a name. He didn't want to try and lie either. It wasn't in his heart to do so.
"Well...I've never truly had a name." Blue hung his name down in shame. To have a name, an identity, was something he longed for, though no one would ever know. He wanted to know his true name, not something somebody made up off the top of their head. A name that decribed not only him, but his heart as well.
Sa'phira was shocked. For a dragon to not know his own name. Dragons knew their names at birth, not by their parents, but by something inside. "So you don't know your own name? How tragic...Maybe I can help. Now just stand still..."
Sa'phira lowered her head and touched his chest where his heart would be. Needless to say, Blue's heart started beating a little quicker than normal. He tried to stay as still as possible. Hoping against hope that just maybe, she could learn what his name was. And also she seemed so relax, just holding her head to his chest, listening to his heartbeat. She really was quite beautiful, he had to admit. There was no other way to describe her.
"Hmm, I'm beautiful am I?" Sa'phira asked. The question startled Blue. He didn't say anything out loud, but then again, his heart is probably giving him away. After another moment Sa'phira raises her head and looks lovingly in his eyes. She had the deepest blue eyes he noticed.
"I know your name. Actually, you have two names." Sa'phira said, dropping her head at the second sentence.
"I have a name?!" This excited Blue to no end, but then the second part came back to him. "What do you mean I have two names?"
Sa'phira raised her head. "You have two names that define you. One is your dragon self, and the other..." she trailed off.
"Other? Whats the other? Please Sa'phira, tell me." Blue lifted her head with his own, then looked her in the eyes. "Please, I must know."
"Your human self!" She blurted out, tears begin to run down her face.
"So I'm a dragon...and human?" This didn't make any sense. Blue has only been a dragon for this dream. At least, thats what it's suppose to be, right? He's always been human, hasn't he?
Then a bright light shined in his eyes and everything around him began to get fuzzy. Try as he might, he could not block out the sun with his wing.
"Go, your new friends need you now. You can learn your name later." Saphira said. She was the only thing not turning fuzzy.
"Beware the shadow that stalks you. It could be a lost friend." was the last thing Sa'phira said as the morning sun glared into his eyes, then it was blocked out by something. He rubbed his eyes to see it was Cynder.
"Whoah...Ow!" Blue tried to raise up only to smack the underside of Spyro's jaw. Blue dropped back down and laid there a bit, rubbing the bump he just got on his head.
Cynder laughed. "Haha, I swear he acted just like Sparx, Spyro."
"Maybe, but Sparx can't hurt my jaw like he did." replied Spyro as he rubbed his jaw.
"I wonder who Sparx is..." Blue says to himself.
"Oh, he is a dragonfly who is...." Spyro stops midsentence. He just understood the human crystal clear.
Blue realized this too. He sat up again, this time making sure Spyro was out of the way and asked again. "Who is Sparx?"
"Sparx is a dragonfly, who is also my brother. He's been with me since birth, of course now that isn't possible, with what happened back on my world..." Spyro didn't get to finish as Blue jumped up and picked Spyro up by his forearms, holding Spyro over his head.
"Haha, I can understand you!" Blue said as he spun around. After getting over his intial excitement, he set Spyro back down and sat down in front of him. "Please Spyro, Cynder, tell me more about you and your world."
Spyro and Cynder looked at each other, and then Spyro began to tell Blue of all his adventures, with Cynder filling in a detail or point of view here and there.
This lasted all day and before the trio knew it, it was dark again.
"...and I heard the words of Ignitus and knew i had nothing to fear by sacrificing myself to save the world. But when i heard Cynder's words, I 'knew' I had nothing to fear, because I gave my heart to her, and her's given to me." Spyro finished with the story.
"and then we found ourselves here, went after the boar, and you know the rest." finished Cynder.
"Wow, to think you two have had such an amazing life, and your only my age in human terms." Blue sat back and reflected on Spyro's life, but when Cynder mention about when he found them it brought his original question back to mind.
"Spyro, did you understand what i was trying to show you last night?"
"I think you was trying to say you'd turn us into humans?" Spyro replied slowly.
"Well thats the idea, but its not a permanent change. Just something to use say if we're around other humans. The humans of this world will try and slay dragons for prestige and rewards. And I can't have my new friends who are new to this world have that happen to them." Blue says to the confidently.
"I don't know Spyro, can we sleep on this...(yawn)...its so late..." Cynder says sleepily as she lays down by the fire.
"Yes, sleep on it Spyro, I know its gonna be a big change and may take some getting used to. If your both up to it in the morning, we'll do it then. For now, let's sleep." Blue says as he finds a comfortable spot in the grass.
Spyro goes and lays down by Cynder again, but drapes one of his wings over her. Not long after Spyro is dead asleep.
"Spyro?....Spyro?....Spyro...." calls out a mysterious voice.
"Hmm, whose calling my name?" Spyro asks.
"Spyro! Your alive and well I hope?" asks the voice.
"Yes I am, and who is this?" replies Spyro.
"Now don't tell me you've forgotten your mentor now, the one who guided you with advice through all your adventures...." replies the voice.
"Ignitus? Is that you?" Spyro asks, unsure of his answer.
"Haha, why yes, Spyro. Its me. Ignitus. And I am glad to have finally found you. I've been going through all of the...well my books."
"When do you have books Ignitus? I thought you died in the Ring of Fire?"
"Oh I did, but that was not the end of my destiny. You see, Spyro, I am now the Chronicler. And I have been searching all of the books to find you, to ease my own heart in knowing your alive. And how is Cynder?"
"Cynder is doing well. So since your the Chronicler now, does that mean I get a new power?"
"No, I'm afraid not. But I've read here that a boy has given you a choice to turn into a human. So he is actually giving you a new power, you and Cynder both. Just a hint, remind him to get some clothes first. I've got to go Spyro, this talk was a pleasant one." And at that Igintus's presence fades away.
At that, Spyro feels someone touching him. He opens his eyes to see Cynder rubbing against him. For fun, Spyro licks her thigh as she passes by. She instantly freezes, then jumps on Spyro!
"Alright mister purple dragon, savior of the world, when did I say you could lick me?" Cynder gave him a mischivious glare while blushing red.
"When you confessed your love for me...?" Spyro replied in an unsure tone.
"True enough." and with that Cynder got off of him. "The human is waiting for our answer. I'll go with whatever you decide."
