The courtyard of Ragna's castle bustled with life as orc, human, and countless other species moved crate and barrel alike with weapons and other such equipment rearing its head so it could be known. It was clear the kingdom was readying itself for another attack, though from the sight of the town down the hill, it was clear the war was already taking its toll on the villagers. The castle shown compared to the tattered town, it was clear that Ragna allowed the "hired goons" to do as they like to his kingdom and it seemed as if the majority of his knights allowed them as well, even though their own families lived down there.
Shops were ablaze, bodies littering the streets. Corpses hanging from trees, some half way out of windows, clearly trying to have fled before the inevitable final hit was given to them. Though most would think only the men in the town would be killed, it was not the case here. Men, women, children, elderly, even the pets were all killed. It would seem, if they were not military, they were open to be killed or worse.
"Men! Speed up! We must be ready within the next three days, we can not let the dragons believe there is an opening for them to attack us here!"
Ragnas voice rang out from the main gates, still clad in his armor and weapon held at his side, blood dripping from the tip. He was disgusted that his men were moving so slow with the preparations, he wanted to keep his head!
"Sire!"
A soft, melodic voice rang out into the air that caused him to turn and look behind himself. A strikingly beautiful women ran up to him with her white dress blowing in the wind along with her shoulder length white hair, clear who she was.
"Eleanor, you need not call me Sire. Call me Dad, Father, even Ragna. But not Sire."
Eleanor came to a stop and leaned down a little to catch her breath. She had been looking for her father for the past three hours, much to the dismay of all her caretakers in the castle, since she was charged with an important task before she had left.
"Father, the dragon elders, they arrived after you had left. They are waiting for you in your chambers."
A wide grin passed over Ranga features as he clenched a fist, he knew what this meant.
"Good, good."
He paused for a few moments before he remembered what he had charged her with before he had left and if it wasn't for his love for her, he would have struck her.
"My daughter, of your task..."
She quickly cut him off and answered.
"It is finished father! The job is done, however, I could not due it to the other...she proved rather....immune to its touch."
A smirk now resided on Rangas face as he turned and began to make his way to the castle, occasionally drawing his attention around as he did. Even though this news greatly pleased him and he wanted to hurry, he knew that he could not afford to allow anyone to slack off and slow down their preparations, so he had to keep strict order right now, even more-so then he normally did. However, how Osia was able to be immune from the spells effects was causing him to wonder, however, it mattered not. She was to be set free anyways, he just wanted to test the spell on other dragons.
"Eleanor...of Zato?"
Eleanor rushed to his side, but stayed a few steps behind him. Even though she was princess and higher power then everyone there, save for her father, she knew her place and always showed that her father had the lead.
"I did as you asked and the spell is in full effect. However, it was as you thought and I needed to use a few...all of the amulets and ink."
Ranga couldn't help but laugh at that as he entered the main hall of his castle and was instantly rewarded with the smell of blood and something else that he could not put his finger on. He was unsure of what it was, but he knew he had smelt it before. After a few moments though, and due to Eleanor rushing past him to the door that contained his prize, he just shrugged it off and made his way to the door.
"They are in here, father."
"Great work my daughter, go tell the elders I will be there shortly."
She gave her father a quick nod and bolted off to give them a word and that allowed Ragna to open the door. And the moment he did, he couldn't help but grin madly as his eyes fell upon the sight of Zato. Standing there, not in shackles nor chains, but standing there clad in his own armor with weapon resting on his shoulder. Now, most would run from this sight, however, Ragna knew exactly what this meant. If he were not in shackles and chains, that could only mean that Zato was his. Truly and with out question.
"Ah....good. Now my little servant, who is your master?"
"Otaz..."
"Excellent!"
Ragna felt like a little kid with a toy full of toys right now! Oh, how great this was. Zato was truly a servant to the master now.
"Who do you take orders from?"
"Ragna Freehaven..."
Zatos emotionless, toneless voice sounded out once again. It held not feeling whatsoever. Just words, cold and empty words from a likewise vessel.
"Perfect...now where is..."
Before he could finish his sentence he heard a few soft whimpers from behind Zato. However, as he tried to look behind him, Zato snapped a wing open to block his view. This forced a shocked expression onto Ragnas face, however, nothing else came. Which caused Ragnas now panicking mind to relax.
"Well....it would seem the deepest of your emotions are still in there...still thinking I am going to hurt her. She is to be released as promised. Taken right to the Dragon Kingdoms wall, now please, may I see her?"
Zato remained in his place for a few moments before his wing slowly folded back up behind him and he moved to the side to reveal the form of his sister cowering in the corner of the small, empty, room. She still wore each and every injury, but it was clear that they had been treated and were healing nicely.
"Good. You should know, even though you yourself wont hear it Zato, we never intended for Osia to become so injured during this. However, she put up a fight. Only reason we fought back to capture her."
Even though the words seemingly entered one of Zatos ears only to exit from the other, tears began to run down his cheeks. However, he did not utter a noise, nor blink his now solid white eyes. Just tears ran down those dull ebony scales.
"Now...let us go to the elders. They are waiting."
Ragna made his way out of the room with Zato in tow, however, as they were about to close the door, Zato turned to look to his sister. Something in his mind tinged that he knew this dragoness. Her scent, eyes, voice....something was so familiar. And just as the memory tinged in the back of his skull, his normal eyes pierced through the white and Osia seen that before the door closed, a small bit of hope in her now. However, after a second, the sound she had been listening to for most of that morning sounded out once again. A pain filled roar. It was because of those damn spells and gems jammed into her brother, each time his old self came out, pain erupted through him as the spells moved to destroy those memories, thoughts, and love...at least she knew her brother was still in there, somewhere in there.
=====
"Pink! We have to do something! The elders are corrupted as Osia had thought!"
Veon was just locked in a panic. Her whole body was trembling, her mind was nearly shattered, her concentration out the window rendering her in her old naga form. So much had been gone wrong, so many friends lost, so much death, so much carnage, so much...sorrow. How could someone keep their cool in a situation in a time like this? However, as she thought that, she looked up to see Pink and Ruby with calmed expressions merely planning on how to rescue their mate. How in the hell did they do that?
"Ruby...I suggest we talk to the king, maybe he can do something..."
"Pink, he could be like the elders! How do we know!"
"Because I cut my tie with the elders long ago..."
All three jumped as Godaris made himself known. And all three looked upon him standing in anthro with a book clutched under his left arm, they knew exactly what book it was. It was Zatos book, he wrote in it almost every night. Time and time again when they tried to see what was inside of that black, leather bound book, would he hide it away and throw away the key.
"Godaris...h-how long were you there...?"
Veon muttered out in a soft, panicked tone. It was not good that the king was listening in on you. It could always end up being a very, very bad idea.
"Long enough..."
Godaris made his way into the room and placed the heavy book onto one of the old wooden tables with his claw just resting on it.
"The things in this book should never be read by any...however....it should be read by all....Pink, Veon, Ruby...sit."
Each of them stared to the other, why did he want them to sit? Was he going to tell them what the book spoke of? No...he wouldn't...would he? After a few moments of thought, they each moved to the table and sat on the cushions surrounding it. This should be good.
"This book is full of both thoughts, plans, and requests. One of those requests I am about to tell you three."
Riil gave a loud sigh and braced himself.
"During the last five months Zato has been noticing...changes to his actions and thoughts. The demon inside of him is back....and stronger then before....he has been losing the battle with his demon and he feared that he would one day attack you three...he planned to leave the castle four days ago and flee to the world....his plan was to stay with the ghosts of the past and have them kill him."
All three of them gave blank stares to Godaris...that had to be lies...had to be! In a flash, Ruby snatched the book and flung it open, and sure enough the page opened to the last journal entry Zato had made. His penmanship unmistakable...and his words unquestionable;
"Day of the Glorious Past, Seventh Sun of Foraz.
Once again my night was filled with dreams...no, not dreams...nightmares. Pure, carnage filled nightmares...visions of those past sins that made me who I am. I've seen the Great War...my sins were born then. Rape...so many females raped by the warriors just to keep their name....sons to carry them on....Looting....so much of our history stolen by dragons that looked for nothing but gold and gems....Murder...families torn asunder because of people wanting their house, clothes, even just to kill them for no reason. So many horrible deeds done to create me...I do not question it anymore, my demon is back...he is stronger then ever before....he is winning this fight. My tolerance, resolve, determination...all of it is failing. This demon seeks to rid me of my soul, and I am losing. My heart is weak...my soul, torn. Oh how I thought my love for those three special females of my life would keep me strong...but this demon is using my love against me.
During their days when I can not watch them I begin to question what they are truly doing. Are they seeking a new mate? Are they being intimate with another? No...they would never soil themselves with another. They are true to me, as I am to them. Why...why did I come into this life like this? Why couldn't I just be a normal dragon, live a happy life with my family and mates. It reminds me of why I first picked up my sword and gave my first smile. I would be the demon dragon that changed history. I would be the one that beat his demon and became of value to the Kingdom Of Dragons! Serve as his guard! Become one who passed the greatest of our knowledge onto those young drakes. Oh...how the gods have forsaken me.
Day of the Great Moon, Eighth Moon of Foraz.
I awoke this morning with my claws nearly wrapped around Pinks throat...I...I...it wasn't me that did it...I know that....but so close to her throat....her so peaceful in her sleep...she could not have forseen the horrors that were her own mate as she opened those beautiful golden eyes a few moments after I had moved my claws away. Before she could have even uttered a word, I did what I thought was best to show my true love with her. I locked her in a kiss and to my surprise we soon began to mate...only Pink could be like that in the morning. However, I was surprised once again, Veon and Ruby had been watching before we finished...and lets just say my thoughts were thrown out the window with how much love we shared today. Both emotionally and physical. Though...the demon struck again when they returned to sleep. I heard a voice in the back of my mind...it told me how pathetic I was, how useless I was, that I could not give my three wonder mates children to care for, nurture, raise...Demon Dragons just had to be born sterile. It is true...I've seen Pink and Ruby looking to the kids as they run through the kingdom, wishing they could have their own.
It is official, in two days time...I will leave. I shall head to the Island Siren told me about...I will then have them kill me. They will understand the importance of killing the last Demon Dragon. My kin will vanish with me. I will leave my Zanbatou on the bed for when my mates are done with their morning duties with a note to read this book.
Pink...Veon...Ruby, Please. Find someone who treasures you more then I did, someone who spends every waking second of the day with you...some one who can give you little drakes. Please....
And Pink....forgive me for what I did today....forgive me...I..I would never raise my claw to you."
All three were now heart broken, he actually thought leaving to kill himself would be the answer to this! They would have helped him! Fought with him! Forced that demon out of him! Though...it was clear...Pink was taking it the hardest. She had moved off to the balcony and could clearly be heard. They would not disturb her.
Veon forced herself to hand the book to Godaris, who happily took it from them before they seen some of the...darker passages, and gave them a nod. However, as he stood up to leave, Pink spoke out from the balcony.
"Leave the book Godaris....."
Her tone was shaky, but it had the unmistakable tone of anger lacing it. It actually sent a shiver through Godaris and he placed the book down as quickly as his claws would move before getting out of there. The second the door shut, Pink had moved back into the room and was sitting herself on a chair Zato would normally sit when reading, and she began to read her mates secret book. She would know everything...everything her mate thought to hide. Of course, this reaction had Ruby and Veon seeking for a way to stop her, but they knew better and slowly crept out of the room. Pink maybe the nicest, most polite, and calmest of the three....but when she was mad...she made Giants run in terror. For the next three hours she sat there, reading. She didn't move her legs, didn't stand, eat, nothing. Only blinked, moved a claw to turn a page, and sometimes tears would stream down her cheeks. Her eyes were locked upon it as she finally sat it down on the table. Should she destroy this...no...she knew what she would do with it.
In a roar, she made her plan known. And whom would carry it out.
"Godaris!"
Of course, the call went unanswered for a few before the footfall and distant clicks of a dragon sounded and sure enough, Godaris pushed the door open and gave a little bow. He still feared she was pissed beyond extreme, and from the clawing noise, she was clawing into that chair.
"I want Zatos book preserved and stored away. I want nothing ill to come of it or it will be your head! If anything, it should be kept for the tactics he listed in the front half. The second half should be preserved aside from the other for future generations.
"But..Zato can not ha-"
He fell silent as Pink began to rub over her stomach and Godaris finally noticed that her usually taut belly was now a tad, barely noticeable, extended. She was egg heavy.
"Is it...Zatos? And....are you sure?"
Her claw rested on her stomach now as she looked into Godaris' eyes. The look hurt him. So much pain was in there, however, pure and unaltered love was there as well.
"Yes...they are Zatos...the Dragon Mothers confirmed it....there's three..."
Godaris was now truly at a lose for words. Zato proved to be the extreme rarity in every and all situations. So many Demon Dragons had tried their damndest to get a brood, a harem. To no avail. The seed was sterile and when their realized that, rape became common place for them.
"Godaris...please...do not tell my sisters...don't tell anyone. I wish to tell Zato and them all when he comes back."
An empty smile sat on her maw as she looked to Godaris, seeing it made his heart break. He could tell she felt he would never return and if he did, it wouldn't be he one they knew and loved.
"I wont tell them, anyone, Pink. I swear on my honor I will not."
Pink nodded her head to him and slowly began to rub her stomach again. She still couldn't believe that she was egg-heavy but she did know for sure it was Zatos, he was the ONLY one to ever bed her. However, the only downside that she would soon become stuck in her feral dragon side, for the eggs would develop soon as if they were in a feral female.
"I shall go and prepare the book into two halves. I will return later, Mrs. Sagara."
=====
"When did he return to being a dragon?"
The pink elder said as she circled around the armor clad form of Zato. She was truly and completely baffled, she thought the plan held for Zato to stay as a human. For their kind to question his strength and then soon realize their mistake. Did they change the plans without her knowing? Or was it an effect from the spell? However, her question was answered as she looked to the other elders, each one nodding to the question.
"Miss Oneedia, my daughter had to change him and flush the Human Poison from his veins, it seems to....freeze the effects of the spell."
Riil did not like hearing that. The Human Poison was becoming common place now, even though it was temporary that the poison stayed in your veins, it did make quite the bit of gold. And something that could essentially crash their plans was out there with nearly every tribe?!
"Ragna! How could you---"
He was cut off as a roar filled the room and everyone looked to Zato as he tumbled onto his knees with his head clutched in his claws. The armor on his body pulsating with the membrane on his wing racing through colors.
"What's happening to him?!"
Oneedia screamed out with more concern then she had wished, but no one payed it much mind, but they did wonder what was happening.
"Zato keeps bringing his old thoughts and such back. No matter how many times the spell erases them, nor how strong it is. However, with the gems and amulets, he will stay under our control. So long as they are never removed."
A lime green dragon made his way to the front and bowed his head to Ragna, being the most respectful of the elders, before he began to speak.
"Should he ever beat this spell, even for a few minutes, will he remember that it was us that did this? Should that day ever come, I want to know that if his mind returns to him we could play off the part and lead him back here."
A few of the elders nodded to this and Ragna had to stiffle a laugh as not to anger any of them.
"We've never had anyone break the spell thus far. Arthur, Rayjita, Zato. They've all been locked in this spell from the first minute we've thrown them into it. ONLY Zato has shown any signs of fighting it."
They had all been so deep into their conversation that they didn't realize that Zato was staring at them. Not with the empty white eyes, but with his own. Left eye a bright neon blue, the other a neon green. This would unsure that he would always remember, the green eye never forgot anything it seen. However, it was hard for him to concentrate with that body numbing pain in the back of his head. Though he did not have to suffer long as he looked to his right and noticed Onee was looking right at him with a wide smile, which instantly forced him to give into the spell and his eyes to go white.
-Perfect Zato...keep fighting....please....-
Oneedia thought to herself as she looked back to Riil, who was still locked into conversation with the other elders and Ragna. She could care less what exactly they were all talking about, the one she was told to watch over was proving her own mistress right at every turn. He has overcome so much and keeps going. It was...amazing to watch. Pain, lose, horrors, so much had been seen by this dragon and yet he continues to go on and do more and more.
"Oneedia! For the gods sake come out of your dream world!"
She gave her head a strong shake and couldn't help but blink before her eyes locked onto a rather angered Riil.
"I've been saying your name for the past five minutes! Pay attention!"
She lowered her head and sighed internally.
"Forgive me Riil."
He let out a voiced sigh before he moved over to her and then straight to Zato. As he did he muttered out something so light, so silently, everyone moved their heads a bit closer to try and hear what he had said. However, before everyone knew it, Zato had tackled Ragna to the ground and a blade that ran along the right arm of his armor was pressed against Ragnas throat, leaving the human squirming and trying to force himself back up.
"Riil! We had a fucking deal! Otaz said-"
"Otaz said once Zato is ours we have no more use of you, Zato, shut him up before he says anything else."
Ragna tried to utter out the word that canceled the spells effects but Zato and the blade were just too fast and too sharp. That blade sliced deep into the humans neck and left him gasping for breath that ran from him and desperately he tried to hold that red essence inside of himself.
"Humans are so weak...it is truly quite funny."
Riil just laughed now as he made his way out of the room and soon followed by the others. Once again as Oneedia left she looked to Zato and seen not his eyes, but tears running down his face. He was crying?! But...even before he hated Ragna, why cry at his death? Zato dreamed of this day for months!
"Aledia Nue Forhas Muyda."
Her puzzled instantly snapped to one of pure shock, was Zato, Zato or the slave? "Sleep well, My Brother." In dragon tongue was not something a simple, empty mind could comprehend. Just how much memory was left in the shell of Zato? Her mind snapped to reality as one of his roars sounded out again and she seen he was on his knees with his head clutched. These little come backs were becoming more frequent.
"Zato, come."
Oneedia muttered out to Zato as he moved himself and followed behind her. However, as they walked down the hall, a nagging feeling stayed with her. And with it, she looked back at Zato and seen he was not looking down the corridor, but to her tail and what lay under it! Quickly, she pressed her tail between her legs like a scared dog and walked into the main hall with the laughs of the others greeting her.
"Oh, commanding him is so much fun! He would never look at another female before now! And now look, he drools for an elder!"
Riil was nearly dieing of laughter, this was too much fun. The honor bound, pride heavy, Zato could be controlled like a puppet on a string now! Ridding the dragons of the cursed weakling would be like stepping on an ant! The plan had been so long in its development! Otaz made sure certain aspects of Zatos live played out and that it lead to him like this, and oh, each step went wonderfully.
Of course, the others would not be happy with him, but they never needed to know...
To Be Continued....
