Chapter 5

As she watched him nurse, She saw that his belly had a scar on it, it was covered with a thin layer of fur, but still visible. "Honey, what happened here?" She asked after he was done and gently touching the scar, removing the now empty bottle from his muzzle.

"That was where they stuck a tube into me and used it to feed me, they didn't want to feed me all the time so they used a tube to do it." He replied emptily.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." she replied hugging him and pulling him over her shoulder, while patting and rubbing his back. Cosmo thought the rubbing and patting was out of pity to make him feel better. Half of it's purpose at least was out of pity, however the other half of it's purpose was to burp him, Cosmo did not realize it until he actually burped. The blushing toddler was then taken down and smiled at by his mommy.

Looking embarrassed Cosmo said, "That was a dirty trick. Why would you do that?"

"I just did it so it would be easier and you wouldn't struggle, isn't it be nice to be a puppy? Have all your problems be taken care of, and do nothing but have fun all day and only be stopped to eat and sleep?"

"I wouldn't exactly call this 'fun'," He complained pointing at his clothes and the high chair. "Scary, maybe but definitely not fun." He said frowning.

"Oh don't be silly, the fun is only beginning little one, you have a whole day ahead." She said smiling at him as if he actually were a puppy, which wasn't too far out of context.

"So, what is 'fun' down here?" He asked suspiciously.

"It's a little something called playtime, but let's check that diaper first," She quickly unzipped the back of his sleeper, holding him by the tail making sure he didn't try to escape, which of course he tried to do. "Not so fast little one," She said pulling him back into a hug, "Come on, can't you just trust me? It would hurt me so much to see you not be with me." She gently said into his ear.

Sighing, Cosmo gave in, instead, asking, "What is a playtime?"

"Oh, I forgot you didn't know what these things were, playtime is what the name implies, it's a time for play, relaxation, enjoying yourself, letting your worries go while you play with toys or whatever you want to do."

"Oh"

This time Cosmo didn't try to escape even though his instincts screamed this was wrong when he felt the a furry digit feel the inside front of his diaper. "Oh my, wet again," She exclaimed, "Well that's okay, puppies can't really help themselves can't they?." She looked at his face which was in a full blush and giving him a reassuring hug. Cosmo and his "mommy" made their way to the nursery where he was changed again into a fresh diaper. The moment she pulled his tail through the hole in the diaper, and removed his sleeper, she locked eyes with Cosmo.

As he looked into her eyes, Cosmo knew something was up, "I know you want something from me. I've seen that look plenty of times on scientist's faces before, not like they gave me a choice but either way what is it? What do you want from me?"

"Oh such a smart puppy I have." She cooed to him causing him to blush again. "What I want is to be your mommy Cosmo, to take care of you and give you the childhood you've never had." She said looking into his eyes with love. "I'll get this straight, ever since I was married, I felt the unbearable need to have children. I needed to give my love away, I was devastated, as I could never have children, and when my husband died when he was caught in a gang crossfire while driving home. And then a man approached me, he told me that he could do miracles of science, that if I would donate eggs, he could use science to help me have my own child. He never called back, even after I donated. I don't know what happened, but I know now that I definitely can not have children. That's why I want you, I want you to be my puppy, I can see someone of worth in you, I can bring that someone out, just give me a chance, you can depend on me. Or you can leave, I can't do anything to stop you, but I'm going to be seriously hurt inside, and I can say that you might never be able to fix your pains." She said taking his paws into her paws and looking him in his blue eyes.

Cosmo's mind was in turmoil, he was wondering why in hell would she want him to stay here with her. 'Because she needs me.' He answered himself swiftly. 'Could it be that I need her too?'.

"If you want to stay here, stay, if you're gone by the time I get back, I'll know your decision and this time, I won't stop you."

'I can't stay though, I have a life to live,' He thought 'No use living if you're going to die alone anyways. Those hugs felt awfully comforting too.' He thought sadly. 'No, I can't leave I have nothing to go back to, but she did hit me, I probably deserved that. I guess I have no choice. Well I've never had a mommy before, first time for everything, not that theres a choice anyways.' He concluded.

Lou was surprised at what she came back to, not only was he still there, he was up on his knees on the table waiting for her with a smile on his face and wide open arms. "Mommy!" He cried and jumped into her arms when she came near.

"I guess that's your choice then, my son," She said with tears in her eyes. There was a moment of pure unconditional love between the two, as they looked into each other's eyes and found what each was looking for.

"I'm looking forwards to taking care of you little one, you had no idea how much I had to ask and beg for you. It was love at first sight when I saw you. Enjoy your childhood." She said smiling down affectionately at him.

"But is this really necessary?" He asked pointing to his diaper, the now discarded sleeper and the furniture. "I think I can experience childhood without those right?"

Lou shook her head sadly, "I'm afraid not puppy, you won't be in those for forever, but you need to be in those so that you can experience what it's like to be raised up. A childhood without an infancy is incomplete right?"

Cosmo eventually gave up, thinking, 'Well the diapers do feel comfortable and soft.' and saying, "Alright, I'm trusting you mommy and I hope you know what you're doing to me."

"All I am ever going to ask from you is to trust me, now lets go show you what a playtime is like." She said picking him up and dressing him quickly.
