Chapter Five: Awakened

POV: SID

I suddenly awoke, I couldn't see anything. It was pitch black. I looked down at my paws and moved them. They were tied together with a piece of rope. Then I suddenly remembered, I was brutally attacked by Trevor and his friends. But where was I now? After a few seconds, I realised I was in the trunk of a car.

"Make a left." I heard Trevor's voice. The car suddenly veered to the left, sending me into the wall of the trunk. I let out a grunt, before the car abruptly stopped. "Alright, let's get him out. We need to make this fast." I heard Trevor say, before the sound of four doors being shut startled me. There were four of them? Were they going to kill me? So many questions ran through my mind, I couldn't even answer any of them.

Suddenly, the trunk opened and I saw Trevor's face looking down at me. "Get him out." He said, tapping one of his friends on the shoulder. His friend nodded and pulled me out of the trunk and throwing me onto the ground behind the car. Trevor shut the trunk and leant on the back of the car.

"It wasn't supposed to go like this." Trevor said, cracking a grin. "It was all supposed to go so smoothly." He added, getting off the trunk and approaching me. "We bash you up, you do what we say, and nothing else happens." Trevor said, kneeling in front of me.

"But then you had to go unconscious. And then, we noticed Cody approach the back of the school." He explained. I looked up at him and gave him a sharp glare. "He was lucky we didn't kill him either." He chuckled.

Trevor ushered for his friends to move back. They obliged and each took a few steps back. "Are you going to kill me?" I asked, in quiet voice. He didn't answer me, he just grinned at me. Trevor lifted his foot and stomped on my head. I closed my eyes, thinking I was dead. I heard him laughing.

"He's dead, come on, let's get out of here before someone sees us." I heard Trevor say. Eventually, I heard them all get back into the car, and the car speed off into the distance. I opened my eyes and looked around. I was still alive. I breathed a sigh of relief and looked up at the sky.

The sky was covered with blankets of grey, and rain had begun to pour from them. I attempted to stand up. I leant on one knee, but slipped and landed on the ground again. I glanced down at my paws and attempted to get the rope off. I reached down and used my teeth to rip the ropes off.

I bit the rope in two and it fell beside me. I felt liquid pouring down the front of my body. I rubbed my paw through my hair and was stunned when I glanced at my paw. It was completely drenched in blood. I glanced at my arms and noticed that there was scratch marks and scars from earlier. My vision began to blur. I slowly climbed to my feet, though I didn't get far. I tripped, and almost fell onto the ground again.

Lucky for me though, I managed to lean against a tree, to prevent myself from falling over again. I looked around and got my bearings. "Where on earth am I?" I asked myself, taking in my surroundings.

Everywhere I looked, all I saw was trees and grass. I leant on the tree and let out a large breath. My eyes were beginning to close and I was succumbing to exhaustion. I fell down the trunk of the tree and sat against it.

I closed my eyes and leant against the bottom of the tree, and eventually I fell asleep.

POV CHANGE: CODY

"Calm down, honey..." My mother told me.

"How can I calm down?! My best friend is missing!" I shouted back at her. I saw Sid's parents sitting on the couch, their arms wrapped around each other and his mother crying onto his father's shoulders. We were in the living room of my home. It had been four hours since Sid had disappeared and the police hadn't found anything that would tell them where he went.

His mother and father were sitting on the couch together, comforting each other, while my mother and Sarah were standing in the kitchen. I leant against the wall and fell down it, eventually landing on the floor. I buried my face into my paws and began crying again.

I heard footsteps and I heard something touch my shoulder. "Stop crying." It was Sarah. I looked up at her and noticed her face. She looked distraught, a face I hadn't seen in a very long time.

"It's alright, they'll find him." She tried to assure me. "Calm down." She rubbed my shoulder.

"You don't need to help me out here Sarah, I'm fine. Just leave me alone." I begged, hearing a slight crack in my voice.

"You're obviously not fine." Sarah glared at me. "Crying isn't going to help you here. Why don't you go out there and look for him yourself?" She asked.

I looked up at her and smiled. "You're a genius!" I exclaimed. I ran over to the front door and grabbed my coat.

"W-where are you going?" My mother asked, giving me a worried look.

"I'm going to find Sid." I answered, opening the front door. "I'll be back." I said, slamming the door behind me. I looked back through the window and watched my sister console my mother. I never thought I would ever see this side of her again.

"Where do I start?" I asked myself, standing in front of my house. It was pouring rain outside, so I pulled the hood of my coat over my head and put my paws into the pockets of the coat.

I began to walk to the school, hoping I would find something there. I began walking. Then I began to jog, down the street. Eventually I broke out into a full-blown sprint and was sprinting down the street to my school.

I made it there in record time and saw a few police cars parked out the front. I pushed past a few onlookers and towards the back of the school. Once I arrived, I was stopped by someone who was dressed as the chief.

"Stay back son, this area is a crime scene." He said, pushing me back.

"I want to help! I'm his best friend." I begged, trying to push past him.

"You can help him, by not getting in our way." He said, pushing me back. "Now go, before I arrest you for loitering." He warned.

I sighed and began walking way. What was I going to do now? I asked myself, as I walked to the front of the school. I began walking towards my house, thinking about what I should do next. I pulled up the sleeve of my coat and looked at my wristwatch.

'8:34.' I read, before pulling my sleeve back down. I walked up the hilly street, but something on the left of me caught my eyes. I saw a pair of boots, the boots only Trevor would wear, in front of his house. I could see the bottoms of the boots and noticed splatters of blood on the soles of them.

I walked over to them and picked the boots up. It even had Trevor's name printed on the back of each boot. I thought to myself. 'Could Trevor have done this?' As I studied the boots. I grabbed the boots and held them in my arms. I looked around for anything else interesting, and noticed the garage door off his house, slightly ajar.

'I can't believe I'm doing this.' I thought to myself, as I put the boots on the ground beside me and reached under the bottom of the garage door. As carefully and as quietly as I could, I slowly began pulling open the garage door. "Urgh...there we go..." I said, pushing the garage door a bit further up, so I could squeeze through. I crouched down and passed under the garage door.

I noticed that Trevor's car was here, but not his parent's car. "They must be out of town." I muttered to myself, slowly walking further into the garage. I glanced through the window of Trevor's car and noticed splatters of blood on the steering wheel.

'This is getting more and more interesting...' I thought to myself. Suddenly, I heard the sound of rushing water and decided to investigate. I quietly approached the door into the house and reached for the knob. I carefully pulled it open, and glanced through the crack of the door.

I saw Trevor in the kitchen of his house, watching his hands. "There we go..." I heard him say, as he shut off the tap. I noticed splatters of red-stained water on the sides of the sink as he left the kitchen.

I quickly pulled out my phone and took a picture of the sink. I pulled the door shut and walked back into the garage. I peered through the window of Trevor's car and took a picture of the bloody steering wheel. I looked at the other side of the car and noticed the window of the driver's side was open. I slowly went around the front of the car and reached inside of the car. After a few minutes of searching, I didn't find anything. I tried to pull myself out of the car, but I was stuck.

I pushed my foot against the car, pushing myself into the wall behind me. I fell back onto a shelf and accidently knocked a toolbox off. Causing all of the tools to fall out and make a massively loud sound.

"Oh god!" I exclaimed, as I heard footsteps. I crouched behind the car and made my way to the back of the car. I saw Trevor enter the garage and glance at his car.

'I'm screwed.'

POV CHANGE: SID

I suddenly opened my eyes and was confronted with a shocking sight. My clothes were drenched with blood and my hands were completely soaked with the red liquid. I must have passed out. I pushed myself up against the trunk and pulled myself up.

'I need to find help...' I thought to myself, as I begun to limp through the forest. "Hello!?" I shouted, hoping somebody would answer. "Can anybody hear me!?" I shouted. I was becoming desperate and my vision began to blur. I felt like I was going to pass out again. I pulled myself together and made sure I stayed awake. I limped through the forest, constantly looking behind me to make sure nobody was following me.

Eventually I found myself on a dirt path. It must be the nature track. "I'm in the national park." I said to myself, beginning to follow the nature track. I followed the nature track and eventually I found a road.

I looked left and right down the road, and noticed a pair of lights approaching. I breathed a sigh of relief, noticing that it was a car. I began to wave my arms frantically, as I continued to get the driver's attention. The car began to slow down and it stopped in front of me.

I noticed the door of the car open and a woman approach me. She began to get hysterical and frantically began asking what had happened to me.

"Just...take me to...the hospital..." My vision began to blur. She nodded and grabbed my paw and led me into the car. She laid me down in the back seat and turned the car around. Soon we were speeding along the road, to the hospital. My vision began to fade and I let the darkness take over me.

POV CHANGE: CODY

"Who's there!?" Trevor shouted, turning on the lights. The lights of the garage suddenly came on, alerting me that he was searching it. He walked over to where I dropped the tools and began picking them up. I slowly began to crawl under the garage. He turned my direction and saw me.

"Hey!" I heard him shout, dropping all of his tools onto the ground. I jumped at the sudden outburst and hit the bottom of the garage. I frantically tried to get under the garage door. He grabbed my foot as I attempted to escape. I kicked him in the face and he fell back onto his car, breaking one of the back lights.

I began running faster than I'd even ran before, towards my house.

Sometime later, I barged through the front door of my house and fell to my knees. Sarah and my mom ran up to me and helped me to my feet. "What happened?" Sarah asked. They helped me onto the couch and I glanced at Sid's parents, who were still comforting each other. I quickly explained what had happened and they looked at me with worried faces.

"Is he still after you?" I heard Sarah ask. She walked over to one of the windows and pulled the curtains to the side, so she could see through it. "No...I don't think so..." I replied.

"What happened to the boots that you mentioned?" My mom asked.

"I left them back at the house, but I got a picture of them." I replied, handing my phone over to my mom. She nodded and scanned the phone. She suddenly began to dial a number.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Calling the police." She answered, putting the phone to her ear. "But we don't know if he _did_anything!" I exclaimed.

"We must try." She replied.

"000 what is your emergency?" I heard a voice on the phone.

"Hello, um, I was wondering if you could send an officer to my place." She replied. I gave her a confused look.

"Is there an emergency?" I heard the voice on the phone ask.

"No, we just need an officer, right away. 13 Dore Drive." Mom quickly replied.

After a few seconds, she hang up and glanced at me. "Now we wait for an officer to arrive, and we can show them this." She handed my phone over to me.

I shrugged. "Let's hope this works." I said.

A few minutes later, there was a knock at the door. I walked over to the door and opened it. I was confronted by two police officers. "This is the Simmons Residence?" One of the officers; a bear asked.

"Yes, please come in." I opened the door fully and let them in.

"Officers, you're here. Great." My mom walked over to the officers. "Miss Simmons. Good day, you required assistance?" The bear asked, in a bored manner.

"Yes, do you know Sid Phillips?" I asked, looking up at the taller officer.

"Yes, he is a missing person. We're still searching for him." The taller officer; a husky, replied.

"Do you know somebody by the name of Trevor?" I asked.

"Yes, we've got him back at the station. We caught him driving with a broken taillight. He didn't comply with the ticket, so he's at the station. Why do you ask?" The husky asked.

I chuckled, I had broken the taillight and indirectly got Trevor in trouble. "We think that Trevor has a connection with Sid's disappearance." My mother explained.

"As you may know, we need incriminating evidence to show that he is connected. Otherwise we can't do anything." The bear exclaimed.

"Is this good enough for you?" I handed my phone over to the husky and showed him how to scroll through the pictures. "All these new-fangled devices make me feel stupid." I heard the husky mutter.

"Blood on the boots...blood on the steering wheel...and blood on the sink." I heard the husky say. "I say this is pretty incriminating." The husky handed the phone back.

"We'll head back to the station, where his car is impounded and check the steering wheel. To be honest, I don't know how we didn't see it before." The bear explained.

"Good, thank you." I smiled at them. "It's no issue, but we can't do anything else until we've found Sid. We haven't got many officers on duty tonight, and it may take all night to find him." The bear warned.

"Its fine, go ahead and find him. I need to know that he's safe." I frowned.

"You know him?" The husky knelt in front of me.

"Yeah, he's my best friend." I sighed.

"Don't worry kid." He ran his paw through my hair. "We'll find him." He smiled at me.

"Miss Simmons." The husky nodded at her and walked out the door with the bear. "Great! At least we're going somewhere." My mother exclaimed, happily. I looked over at her and folded my arms.

'I sure hope your right...'
