Poem #22
#19 of My Poems
just your average poem.
was labeled #? but renamed to 22
One time as i fell into slumber,
My body in agony,
My skin feeling aflame.
The sheets feel like sandpaper,
Coarse and gritty, scraping at my skin.
As my eyes close, suddenly i feel myself floating,
As i turn, twirling in the air, my muscles respond.
No pain assaults my mind, no burning skin,
no muscles hurting when they shouldn't.
I look down upon my body, so serene in it's slumber,
Laughter wells up, my form shaking with mirth,
Relishing this moment of peace and painlessness.
My form turns, tail swishing behind me,
I gaze upon the appendage with awe,
pulling it around to hold in my hands.
I rise higher, leaving my home,
Soaring higher into the air.
Everything looks so different,
colors draping around everything.
Surrounding everything,
flowing and swirling as i watch.
My hand reaches towards the energy,
It flows everywhere that i can see.
My curiosity getting the better of me.
As i touch it, power surges through me,
Surrounding me, wrapping around me to hold me tenderly.
Peace and tranquility flood my very being,
Even as i close my eyes and relish even more,
darkness creeps in closer, ever the predator.
