Xidon: Part 1
#1 of Xidon: Intergalactic Peace Warrior
Xidon
Chapter One: A bloody battle
I ran for the door, not paying any heed to the battle around me. I had my goal, I payed attention to nothing else. I heard the bullets as they whipped past me in my armor suit, I saw the blood fly from my teammates around me, but I paid little heed. My focus was on getting to my objective as fast as possible. That was my training, and I followed it without the slightest hesitation. My orders, to breach the base and kill the enemy commander ASAP. How I would do it, that was entirely up to me, and I loved the sound of that.
I ran to the door, set the C4, and then ran back just far enough to away to where the explosion wouldn't stun me. I detonated it and watched with satisfaction as the door splintered and blew open from the explosion that ensued. My ears were ringing, but that mattered little to me. I took the machine gun off of my back and ran inside, holding it in front of me to fire from my hip at whoever was inside. I charged in, and was greeted by two soldiers that were running to the entrance to secure it. I fired a spray at the first one, and he fell, blood spurting from his heart. The other one shot at me, and I grinned as it bounced off of my armor. I let him despair for that brief moment, and then shot him in the head, mercilessly ending his life. I wouldn't regret it later...it was just part of the job for me.
I continued on inside this stone base, and simply thought about how primitive this stonework was. I continued on, my machine gun not even warmed up yet, and my heart beating with the adrenaline and excitement generated from the battle. I remembered the first time I puked after seeing a man choke on his own blood, his guts spilling from his stomach. Now, it was so common that I simply learned to like the sight of blood on my visor and on my armor. I still had the dignity to clean my armor afterwards, however.
I approached where the leader was no doubt hiding, and kicked down the wooden door that stood between me and him. I walked inside, and grinned when I found him. He was standing there, holding up a rifle. I knew that the rifle, if powerful enough could puncture my armor, but when I saw what model it was, I knew that it wasn't likely to breach my armor, especially with its energy shields still at full. I walked up and the leader, a young, gray furred wolf, cried, "Stay back, Imperialist monster!"
I replied, "No enemy gives me orders, rebellious scum!"
He seemed intimidated, which wasn't a surprise. My voice was naturally deep, and when I growled, it sounded terrifying to most. Even my commanders feared my anger, not that I would ever be angry at them. The wolf said, "I will shoot if you come any closer!"
I shot first, not even giving the wolf time to think about what had just happened. The spray hit his head in three places. One hit an eye, the other tore into his muzzle, and the last one hit him right between the eyes. I watched as he fell over, and said, "What a fool."
I turned and began heading back, having completed my mission easily. I walked out to find that the rest of the battle had went under out control. We had easily taken one of their forts, yet again. My commander, an older lion than myself, came up and asked, "Is he dead?"
I merely nodded, not liking to say anything when I could help it. The commander said, "Excellent work, as usual, Xidon. You have nothing left to do for the day. You head back and have yourself a well earned rest. We'll take care of the rest."
Well earned?_I thought, _That was too easy!
I walked past him back to my personal ship. I was proud of it, as I had been given the right to have one ever since I became an elite warrior. The responsibility was huge at first, but it narrowed itself down in time. Now, after three years of constant fighting, it became nothing more than a second thought to me. War was my life, and I lived it to the fullest. I never knew how I avoided death on countless occasions, and now I simply didn't fear it and didn't care if I almost died due to a trap. Death simply became one with my spirit.
I took off, flying back to the base we had set up there. I flew over this endless desert of Tarina, wondering why people would hole up here. It had hardly any life, besides a few cacti here and there, and the occasional primitive animals such as jack rabbits and snakes. They were all inferior, because they were designed by nature to be less complex than us. We had a powerful brain, powerful muscles, and were truly...what was the old word...humanoid. How my commanders hated it when I mentioned that word. I would say it once, and then they would have me do twenty push-ups for merely saying it in public. I've learned to respect their dislike and stopped using it.
I landed my ship at out base and walked in through the security doors. As I walked up the check-in counter, the fox lady at the front greeted me with a smile and asked, "What can I do for you, sir?"
I took a moment to look at her uniform. She was wearing a red dress, usual for her type. Her red hair was done in a ponytail. I then said, "Hello again, Marina. How have you been?"
I took off my helmet, and she said, "Oh! Welcome back, Xidon. Done with your mission already?"
I replied, "It was too easy, as usual."
Marina told me, "You know, they're not giving you any hard ones, right? I mean, there's harder stuff out there if you want to take it."
I thought about it, and said, "Maybe I should sign up for some. Thanks for the suggestion."
She replied, "Anytime!"
I liked her, with her flowing red hair, her nice round tits, her fabulous ass; too bad that someone else already had her. I paid no heed and walked back to my room. My roommate, John, was there right now, nursing an injury to his arm. He was down to his white boxers. I asked, "What happened to you?"
John replied in his usual, almost whiny voice, "Got shot in the arm."
I leaned down to examine it. It wasn't bad, though there were a few stains near the wound on his light fur. He was the fox that had fallen for Marina a few years back, and they often went at it while I was away. He didn't seem to mind that I knew. He was brave, and great with the girls. Problem was, he was too new to war. I was afraid that he wasn't going to last two seconds on the field when he went out his first time. It was a miracle I got to him in time.
He asked, "Is it going to be bad, do you think?"
I grinned and replied, "No, you'll be fine, John. I've had an injury like that before. Just be sure to tell your girl before you go at it."
John sighed and said, "I don't think I'll be doing anything until it heals. It'll be too much of a pain."
I said, "Do whatever you want. As for me, I'm talking to the head general about harder missions."
John seemed surprised, and asked, "You're going on even harder missions now?"
I nodded in reply. He sighed and said, "I knew you would sometime."
I felt a little bit of pity on him sometimes, because he would show just how much of a wimp he could really be. I cared for him, but I couldn't help but think of him as a wimp when he started whining or complaining. The girls never really noticed that part, luckily for him. In my mind, he was more a lovemaker than a fighter. I said, "Yeah, well this stuffs getting too easy. I'm looking for bigger prey now."
He asked, "When did you start doing that?"
I chuckled and replied, "Only about a minute ago. Marina suggested it to me."
It seemed to make more sense to him now. He said, "I see. In that case, I can see why you're going. It's easy for her to persuade someone like you."
I took a small bit of offense at that and said, "No, it isn't. I just happened to think it was a good idea and took it. There are other things that both she and you have suggested that I didn't do."
John asked, "Like the whole going out to observe the desert snakes?"
I smiled and replied, "Yeah, like that incident."
"Xidon, you should have been with us there. It was actually pretty fun once the snakes noticed us," he said.
I asked, "Did you end up running from them?"
John said, "It was the funnest chase I had even had. Marina was scared out of her wits."
I stood up, walked over to my bags, and began packing. I said, "Very nice. Did anything else happen that day besides the fight you were in?"
He asked, "Why do you ask?"
I shrugged while I packed up my light armor suit and said, "Just curious."
John said, "Nothing that would be interesting to you happened."
I began arranging my personal pistols, and then said, "I think you'll be fine here. You seem to get along with everyone well enough."
John asked, "Hey, what if I'm coming?"
I shook my head and said, "No, you're not. If the place I'm going to be going has hardier prey for me, then I doubt you'll be wanting to come along. You've got a bullet wound, remember?"
John looked at it, and then turned to me and asked, "So?"
I sighed and replied, "John, if you aren't having an easy time here, you'll have an impossible time where I'm going. Besides, I can't get your ass out of trouble all the time."
I began walking out, and he sighed. I knew that he had genuinely hoped to come with, but I also knew that he was going to be safer here. I pushed the thoughts of him out of my head as I approached the general's room. As I walked, I didn't bother looking around. It was all metal around me in the hallway. Dull, blandly colored steel. There were no flashing lights, no decorations...nothing. I sighed and said to myself, "I wish they had-"
I stopped myself, realizing that wishing would probably give people a bad impression of me. I straightened up to full height and walked into the door. I actually had to duck my head under the top of the door, as it was only built for people up to six feet tall, not a seven foot guy like me. The general sat in a black, leather chair that I was sure was extremely comfortable. The only chairs we were allowed to sit in when we were in his presence were little wooden ones. I hated those because they were either too small, or were just plain uncomfortable. However, I didn't seem to mind the one I sat in as much as the others.
He swiveled the chair around, and said, "Welcome back, Xidon."
I said nothing, and the general asked, "Have you come here for something?"
I said, "Yes. I would like to be transferred to a military station with hardier prey than here."
The commander gave me a questioning look, and said, "I don't seem to recall you wanting something more challenging. I thought you were fine just the way things were right now."
I said, "Things change, general."
He thought for a moment, and then said, "I have an idea of where to send you. I will send you to planet Terokas."
I had heard of that planet. Several of our elite warriors had been sent there for various reasons, and now they had formed their own team. If I were to be sent there, I could most likely meet the people in that team and get to know them. I was a elite fighter myself, so they would most likely let me join. I wondered if that would be the best choice, however.
The general said, "Alright. You wanted to have hardier game, there's plenty there. Go help yourself."
I rose and said, "Thank you, general."
I turned and walked out, eager to get some sport after all of this easy game. I would have a difficult time adjusting, but that was part of the fun. I got into my ship, and left, not even saying a word to Marina. She wouldn't mind. I flew into open space, and took a moment to find a few constellations before I hit the hyperdrive and blasted towards my new post. For me, the fun was beginning to get more intense.
First story here, so please be nice to me. Hope you like this new chapter.
