#1 of the dragomon saga
Ch.7
"What's wrong Panthramon?" Samantha asked, looking up at Panthramon, who was staring off into space.
"I since a portal,"
"A portal?"
"Yes. The thing is, it is not a digital portal,"
"Hmmm. Well, why don't we go check it out?" Panthramon frowned at her.
"Are you sure?"
"Oh yes. We have nothing else to do so we might as well have fun," Panthramon sighed but relented. It took them only a few minutes to arrive at the portal. Samantha stood in front of it and stuck her hand into it.
"Sam!" Samantha looked over her shoulder at Panthramon who was eying the portal cautiously.
"Where is your since of adventure Panthramon? Come on, it'll be fine," and she was gone. Sighing, Panthramon rushed after her. The first thing Panthramon realized was that, wherever they were, it was nighttime. Second was that Samantha was already walking down a path, only visible by the slight glow of the necklace she wore. Ahead of her was what looked like a large mansion! "Have you ever seen something so magnificent?" Samantha asked, her eyes gleaming.
"Sam, I know what your thinking but I really think we should go back. That house probably belongs to a very strong digimon. We shouldn't bother him or her," Samantha shrugged and, ignoring her digimon, continued up the path. Panthramon stared after her mistress. Will there ever be a time she listened? Uneasiness filling her heart, Panthramon followed her mistress up to the mansion. The gate was a simple garden gate and no obstacle for a thief and her digimon. In seconds both of them had climbed over and were walking up the dark path to the large front door. "I don't think that door will be unlocked and even if it was, there is no way we would be able to open it," Panthramon was proven wrong in both aspects. The door opened easily at Samantha's touch and pushed in easily as if it was made of paper. Silently they moved down the long hallways, Samantha humming the Pink Panther theme under her breath and tiptoeing in rhythm. Panthramon rolled her eyes as she followed her eccentric mistress.
"I don't think there's anyone home," Sam said, ending her humming and standing up straight.
"Sam, its night time, even digimon sleep,"
"I know that! But this house seems so disserted," Panthramon slapped her hand against her head wondering how they had never been caught before. Flashing one of her smiles, Samantha continued walking.
"Sam please be careful. These vases look expensive,"
"Oh stop worrying. Everything will be al-" crash!!!!!
"What did you break?" Panthramon screamed as they looked down at the shattered vase.
"A vase. Come on that was bound to wake someone up,"
"Oh so now you believe there are people here?" before Sam could retaliate they heard footsteps and voices asking each other what was going on. "RUN!!!!!!!!!" Panthramon grabbed Sam and burst towards the front door. But alas, they were never meant to reach it.
"Oof! Ouch!" Panthramon and Sam were knocked back as they ran into Snow.
"What the? What are you two doing here?" Snow asked, looking down at the two thieves. Panthramon shook her head and looked up and her eyes widened.
"Snow?" Snow looked at her for a few seconds then recognition crossed his face.
"Panthramon!" the two jumped up and embraced like old friends. Samantha, very confused at the sudden sign of affection from her normally mysterious and serious Panthramon, stumbled back and felt her self collide into something solid.
"Huh?" she felt whatever she was against and it felt rough.
"May I help you?" Samantha spun around and looked up at Alex in his dragon form. She screamed and jumped back. Alex cringed slightly at the piercing noise but it past as he looked down at his two intruders. "Thieves huh? Nothing new," Samantha, trying to get her cards back stood up straight though she still only reached Alex's thigh.
"If you are so used to thieves, why make it so easy for us to get in?"
"I have no need of security. My size is all I need,"
"No kidding. So what exactly are you?"
"I'm a half dragon can't you see?"
"Yes I can see but I've never seen a half dragon before. Digimon or human," Alex smiled and nodded as his eyes moved over to Snow and Panthramon who were both busy talking and catching up.
"Since Snow seems to know your digimon I won't turn you into the authorities yet. Also, if it was money you wanted, you could just ask," just then he held out his hand and gold coins started to grow in his hand. Crying out Samantha jumped back but the greed was already showing in her eyes.
"How did you do that?"
"How else do you think I became so rich? Dragons can make gold,"
"Gold huh?" she stared at him skeptically then picked up one of the coins and admired it. "Very good, it looks exactly like the originals. I'm impressed," and she handed the coin back.
"Why are you giving it back to me,"
"Oh come on I'm not the stereotypical thief, I do have morals. I'm not about to steal from you when you said you weren't going to turn us in,"
"I see. But why do you steal?"
"No other way to live. Panthramon was exiled because she kept on arguing with her masters about trying to take over the digimon world, you know, normal bad guy stuff. I left the human world when I found out I had a digimon and I've lived here since,"
"How long was that?" Dee-dee asked. Samantha shrugged.
"No clue. Nor do I care. I like it here. But since Panthramon is a 'dark digimon' other digimon tend to stay away from her so it's hard to get a job and it's even harder for a human to get one so we have no choice but to steal,"
"And it doesn't help that your obsessed with money," Panthramon muttered but was still loud enough for everyone to hear.
"I'm not obsessed I just like the knowledge that I won't be starving. My dad left my mom before I was born so we were really poor and sometimes wondered where our next meal will come from, I don't want to relive that in the digimon world,"
"Oh and lets add obsession over food, sweets, things that make noise, and things that shine, sparkle, or gleam,"
"Shut up Panthramon," Sam snapped. Panthramon gave her a smile but spoke no more.
"Sam, I have a present for you," confused, Sam looked up at Alex and suddenly felt the weight of hundreds of coins in her hands.
"Wha- why are you- how did you- what the heck?"
"Because you obviously need the money," Sam stared at him, suspicion written on her face.
"What's the catch?"
"There isn't a catch. I can create as much as I want its no trouble giving you some," Sam looked from Alex to the money and back, her brain obviously analyzing the situation. Then she smiled.
"Thank you"
"No problem, twas my pleasure." Panthramon walked over to Sam's side and touched her shoulder.
"We should be returning Mistress,"
"Feel free to stay, I'm sure Snow would like Panthramon to stay so they can catch up,"
"Yay!" Snow hugged Panthramon tightly and a small smile crossed Panthramon's face.
"Thank you. It has been awhile since I have seen my friend," Snow led Panthramon down the hall, both chatting happily and asking what the other has been up too. Dee-dee walked over and smiled at Sam.
"I'm Dee-dee by the way," she said, sticking out her hand.
"I'm Sam," the two shook hands and Dee-dee's smile widened.
"I think since our digimon are such good friends, we will become good friends as well!"
"I haven't had many friends but I agree with you, Dee-dee,"
"You are safe now, I can since your inner turmoil. No one will harm you while I am around. You are among friends here," Sam blushed. Strangers had never treated her so nicely.
"Thank you. All of you,"
Ch. 8
Violet opened her eyes and looked out the window at the beautiful sunrise.
"Better get u..." there came a knocking at the door "Come in," the door opened and Panthramon entered, looking slightly uneasy.
"I apologies if I woke you up Violet,"
"No worries. I'm always up this early. What about you? Did you not sleep well?"
"Oh no I'm always up this early. I like seeing the sunrise. Where I was born there was never any sun so I had never seen a sunrise until I left,"
"I see. I'm sorry you had to live there. I know how it is to live in the darkness," surprise and curiosity crossed Panthramon's face but she kept her questions to her self. Panthramon was a polite and shy digimon. She did not like digging into others pasts if they do not wish it. "I used to live close to the Panthramon village so I know exactly what you're talking about,"
"Near it? I didn't know there was another village so near,"
"You might not have been able to see it. We don't really communicate with the Panthramon,"
"I see. So when do the others usually get up?"
"Alex usually gets up last. Dee-dee will awake soon and Patrick will be waking up whenever Dee-dee becomes to loud for anyone to sleep,"
"I think Dee-dee will get along very well with Sam. They are both early raisers and like making noise apparently,"
"Alex and Patrick will be delighted,"
"GOOD MORNING!!!!!" Dee-dee's voice yelled, echoing through the large castle.
"Rise and shine everyone! The sun is shining it's a lovely day," Sam's voice joined Dee-dee's as they sang 'Good Morning To You' at the top of their lungs.
"Apparently they are awake," Panthramon said while Violet gave a small smile.
"WELL THE TWO OF YOU LET ME SLEEP?" Patrick screamed.
"NO!!!! GOOD MORNING TO YOU!!!"
"SHUT UP!!!!" sighing Panthramon walked out of the room, Violet following and they saw Sam and Dee-dee standing in front of Patrick's room, megaphones in hand, singing at the top of their lungs. Patrick was screaming at them from his doorway, his hair tosseled and still in his pajamas.
"Alright that's enough you two," Violet said but the girls ignored her and continued pissing Patrick off.
"Allow me. SAMANTHA STOP IT!" instantly Sam stopped what she was doing and looked over at Panthramon.
"We were only having fun," she said, innocently. Dee-dee, seeing that her accomplices had stopped turned to face and gave them a huge smile.
"Good morning. Where's Alex? Don't tell me he's still asleep,"
"Yes and if Patrick was smart he would do what Alex and Gabumon did and stick ear plugs in," Violet said.
"Shut up Violet!" Patrick snapped, slammed the door, and soon his snoring was the only sound in his room.
"Don't worry about it, he's irritable in the mornings," Violet said as she looked at Panthramon and Samantha's stunned faces. Alex woke up wondering where Violet was. "Violet where are you"
"I'm out in the hall Dear," the door opened and Alex walked out, "Why is everyone so small?" he looked up at the ceiling and realized that he was still in his dragon form. "Oh," he glowed crimson and changed into human form.
"Whoa!!!!" Sam screamed, jumping back. The human that stood in front of her was only an inch taller then her, skinny, but clear muscle tone. He had firary red hair and hazel eyes. He smiled at her and Dee-dee started laughing.
"Now that's the brother I remember,"
"Don't be scared Sam, this is my human form. My name is Alex," Samantha still stared at him but not in fear but in awe.
"Cool! So you can be a dragon or a human?"
"Yes. I am only half dragon,"
"Cool! And you're also a hybrid-digimon?"
"How did you know?" Samantha shrugged.
"Something just didn't seem right so I asked your Renamon and she told me. Well I guess we should be getting on our way,"
"Ah, going back so soon?" Dee-dee asked, looking at Samantha and Panthramon sadly.
"Well, the digiworld is our home so yes,"
"I know! Why don't we join you? We'll escort you back to the digital world!" Snow suggested.
"Yeah. Can't we Alex?" Dee-dee asked.
"Sure. We'll have to wake up Patrick though,"
"LIKE I CAN SLEEP WITH YOU GUYS HOVERING OUTSIDE MY DOOR!!!!"
"Well since your awake, COME ON OUT!!!!" Dee-dee shouted back.
"Maybe I don't want to,"
"You realize that they won't leave you alone until you do." Gabumon said in a matter of fact tone. Patrick said something that was inaudible but soon he walked out of his room with Gabumon right behind him.
"Happy now?" he snapped at Dee-dee.
"Very. All right everyone, let's go on our next adventure!! To the digiworld!"
