A New Life in a New Body: ...Where are We?

Roslyn

Hearing the blast at the same time that I felt it I knew it had to be something hitting the mountain. But where am I, last I remember I was with Sherri in the hospital as she planned entry into what was practically a military base. Not that she hadn't planned worse before. But why am I suddenly in the ops room looking at a projection of the Mountain being invaded through the hidden entrance and that blast had just knocked loose the buried front door, the original military entrance from before they had abandoned it. Before we had found the Mountain.

"So what do we do now?" 'Sergeant' Niel asked.

"We fight back. Devil will already be fighting back with his monsters in the garage since both those entrances have direct lanes to him." I said, stepping up to the table. "Everyone that has a tactical offense squad, press them into service and get their asses in gear. We have damn Benthics practically. The equivalent of their best military unit. I don't care what the council says about showing we're better than them by not stooping to their level. I've gotten into trouble for it once, and I will do so again and again. Sherri may follow orders to the S in the word orders, but I had enough mindlessly doing as others wish when I was under their control. So regardless of what you all want to do, I am going to go down there, and prevent my pregnant girlfriend from having to fight." Storming out of the room I heard another pair of paws follow behind me, and soon another, and then twenty other pairs of paws, the entire council was at my back, going to Anne's armoury. "Hoo-Rah!"

"Hoo-Rah!"

Sherri via Roslyn

Suddenly I felt like I was being yanked out of my own body. In fact I could see my body jogging away. Blinking in surprise I opened my eyes to see that I was at Sherri's side. And there she was, the woman in white, there was Alvar finally, though he was now covered in chains and with a steel muzzle on, which probably signified her not seeing him anymore. Attached to Sherri via a thin white band of light I saw two figures that I couldn't quite make out, but they had a couple stripes of colour that matched mine and I knew they were our girls. Looking away from Sherri and her menagerie I saw Dawn and her father, Richard. The two possums were talking to her about controlling her anger during the pregnancy.

"This recent change in your psyche could be problematic. We want to make sure that you don't hurt the development of the twins with any sudden... imbalances in your emotional spectrum." Richard said somewhat nervously.

I wondered why until I heard something, it sounded like Sherri but it was distorted. 'I only destroyed one section of the cartilage in your tail.' Hearing some angry mumbling I looked over, realizing that Alvar was trying to talk through the muzzle and that Sherri didn't respond at all I knew that she really couldn't see, hear or sense him anymore. Moving closer I managed to make out his mumbling to be 'You bit his tail off you crazy bitch, let me out of these damn chains!'

Right as Sherri was about to speak I felt a searing pain in my midsection. Turning I saw myself, right outside Anne's armoury. We were all being cut down by a figure I didn't recognize, but he was easily using the broadsword to block, attack and then execute in smooth seamless motions. I had a gash in my stomach and was holding myself together with my tail but that didn't stop me, charging him from behind I pulled out the 14" hip dagger that Sherri had given and asked me to start carrying at all times. Closing in I nicked him right before he turned, a moment before his broadsword cut my head off I kicked off the ground in fast rotation before landing a kick on the flat of his sword. As the sword flew up I landed on one hand and swung the long dagger at his stomach. Once again I nicked him before he twisted away.

Hearing the whistling that I associated with third gens I looked away from the combat just in time to see the clones of the third gens that I and Sherri had killed. As I dodged back from his broadsword swinging back around I realized it was too late to try and avoid a swing from another guy who had come up behind me. The same guy. The sword cut across my back before he changed the angle and finished cutting through me before I fell to the ground in several pieces. Turning back to Sherri in the hospital I said 'I'm sorry...'

"So start talking bitch." the big black man standing before us said.

"Stand down big boy, you're scaring them, thats my job." a woman smaller than Renee said when she stepped out from behind the man. She was somehow very imposing, in fact when she leveled her gaze on me I froze on the spot, she was even more terrifying than Sherri. "So you two know what we need to know. In fact you two might even know more than we need to know, so either you talk or I get to have fun. Lets start with you little rabbit." Her eyes were two dark spots with solid grey for her iris, no colour, just cold grey. When she removed what had appeared to be metal styling tines from her hair I saw they were sharp needles, full of a liquid of some sort. Thats when her hair cascaded around her shoulders, a bloody red waterfall.

"I'm the one you want I'll talk as soon as you let her go," I said, trying to bargain for Renees' freedom.

Shaking her head she spoke in a sweet voice, "Oh no, you misunderstand me, lovely little lady," Slamming the first needle into my thigh I felt it enter my bloodstream like ice cubes poured straight in. As it flowed through my body I started to shiver, and feel hot. "Oh, good, I can smell from my enhancements that the aphrodisiac is working this time. It was very boring last time without that aspect working correctly. Now little bunny, you can't bolt, you can't sacrifice yourself to save her, but you can save your child. So start talking, or I put the other one into your other leg. And then I start using them to hit pressure points." Her sugary voice stopped immediately, "If you don't tell me, I will modify the child growing within you to tear your body apart like a cancer."

"What child?" I asked my eyes widening.

"Oh, my, you don't know. How sweet, but then I suspect that pregnancy tests are rather rudimentary in that shithole. You wait until you're showing and thats your result. Well yes, you're pregnant, and with my daughter's ex from the genetic result. Anyway, I want to know where he is, where is the playboy that left us, left her. Because the scans, now that our troops are inside, show that he isn't there. Where is Mike Yvaltski, so I can kill him." she finished with a flat, dead tone.

"Fifteen miles, three hundred feet and ten inches from here." Renee said without a second thought, like protecting Mike.

Looking at her the woman said "Now that is a useful power."

"For your information you can try all you want, I doubt you'll be successful in that endeavor, killing him that is. He regrew his chest cavity." I said.

Looking back at me she said "Oh, you have no idea what I am capable of. I made the perfect soldier, and then designed the perfect partner for her. I gave up the chance to raise my own daughter to create the psychological profile needed for the implantation to work. I set up her father raping her to make her develop bloodlust from a young age. I easied the adoption process for her second family, I corrupted the cop who gave the gang the guns who were the next series of kills for her. She can kill anything, she just has to learn how. That is her design, that is her fundamental flaw, which is why her mind is so..." Her sentence trailed off, she turned back to me and asked "How many times has he 'died' by now?" her fingers making air quotes, like she was several decades younger.

"About ten times or more," I said.

"Good, then his body hasn't perfected it yet. There is still time to halt the progression, I had hoped that one more malleable would gain that ability, it is the reason for all of this. The soldier that can't die, with the ability to kill anything. Well, we have their son, we'll perfect it in him." Turning to walk off she got to the door and said "You may have fun, just be sure to kill them when you're done."

"She still has feelings for him, she won't kill him permanently!" I yelled after her.

"She will, because of the feelings for her son." she said before closing the door.

Looking us over the big black man started to take off his pants, "You may be fur covered freaks to most people, but it just means that I can fuck you without the law coming down on me, regardless of your willingness."

"Lisa, he is moving further away, we should leave. Please get us out of here, we have delayed too long." Renee said, again not seeming to think about what was going on, or even looking at the monster of a human looming over us.

Looking up at him I said "This won't happen again, not to me, not ever." As he started to saunter over I looked through him, imaging him falling over, his brain flowing out of his ears. As he fell to his knees I focused on his heart, causing him to start clutching at his chest, clawing at it. Feeling the pressure building in my head I released it in his lungs, bursting them. As he finished dying I looked at my cuffs and fractured the ratcheting screws. pulling loose easily I grabbed the keys from his prone figure and undid Renee's cuffs. Kicking him as I walked over his body I unlocked the door, muttering, before asking the guards "Who wants to go next, I already dealt with your bruiser there."

Mike

Why is everything foggy?

Tera

"Hey, what happened in the last fifteen minutes, I don't remember a thing." I asked Mike, though he seemed a little worse for wear somehow.

"Fifteen? Damn, we need to get moving, and to answer your question no damn clue." he said.

Looking at him I wondered what was going on, why didn't either of us remember the past fifteen minutes. Something strange was going on, and I know it has somehow has something to do with their experiments. Looking around while following Mike I saw a soldier standing on a corner down the street. Going to point him out I suddenly noticed another coming out of a nearby door. Grabbing Mike and using a set of pebbles to put up a floating hand in front of him I quietly hissed out "Soldiers are looking for us... or me probably."

"Yeah, I see 'em keep your head down its about to become a war zone," he said reading himself.

"You're the one they'll notice first, you're the furred." I muttered.

"I don't want you getting hurt, they won't care if some innocent person gets in the line of fire," he scolded.

Noting the twinge I said "What are you holding back."

"The fact that I was ordered to kill kids younger than you or that regardless of how little I know you I consider you to be a daughter." he said.

Sighing I said "I have an idea, and I know you won't like it." Running off before he could stop me I used a few rocks to grab his feet and tapped the soldier on the shoulder. Using a scared tone I said "Sir, there's a scary man dog thing over there!" Pointing at Mike I saw he had gotten the rocks off and was starting to follow me while the soldier just started freaking out and grabbed his gun.

Stuttering he said "Ye-ye-you, g-g-g-get down!"

"You're dead," Mike said drawing his weapon.

Now that the soldier wasn't paying attention I bashed him over the head with several bricks from the nearby building. As he fell to his knees, dropping his gun to grab at his now bleeding scalp I bashed him again, causing him to pass out. "I told you that you wouldn't like it." I said while walking back with the three bricks floating around my head.

"Kill the next one you do that too, they're beyond help, " He said.

"They're innocent in their lack of knowledge." I said, "So were you."

"I've always known what I've been doing, I'm just as guilty as they are. 'Just following orders' doesn't make you any more innocent," he said.

Crossing my arms I said "Uh huh, so tell me then, why didn't you get out sooner. Because something needed to cause you to open your eyes to the situation."

"We were on our own soil, small town middle of nowhere. We were ordered to kill all of them for harboring fugitives. Being the sniper I saw what was really going on, the fugitives were sick furs in need of medical care and they were getting it. So I turned on the squad, only injuring them. Asked for an honorable discharge the next week. I got it." he said, "I vowed never to kill an innocent life again."

"Then stop taking life, all life is innocent for lack of knowing better." I said flatly, knowing he was telling the absolute truth to his knowledge. Suddenly falling to my knees I thought my head was exploding. Something was wrong, everything was spinning...

Looking down I saw myself, and Mike catching me before my head hit the ground, but where was I if I was looking at myself, with the bricks falling to the ground. Looking around I saw a figure I didn't recognize, several figures I didn't recognize. There was the white lizard fighting a seemingly endless army of figures that were identical to each other, lead by two figures who looked different from the others, but identical to each other. Another pair of figures in a different place was a fox and rabbit, with the rabbit looking aggravated and the fox full of joy, but innocent of knowledge. Finally was her, the woman behind it all, the shadow puppet to the puppeteer that claimed to be her friend and confidant, and she was looking at a screen with us on it when another came into the room to take her away.

Back in my own body I looked up at Mike holding me, "We have a problem, she knows where we are. Exactly where we are. We are only safe because she doesn't need us now."

"Well let's count ourselves lucky then, now are you going to be ok?" he asked.

Nodding I waved him off, "I'm fine, but that was unlike anything I have ever experienced. We aren't where we thought we were."

"Look I don't care where we are so long as we get you someplace safe," he said hugging me close and kissing my forehead.

Dr. Protia

It doesn't make sense, even the enhanced abilities of the changed have never revealed a mental fortitude to accomplish this. His cerebral cortex had seemingly been hijacked to boost her own ability to affect the physical world, crushing his heart and filling his lungs with the entire contents of his bloodstream, leaving the rest of his body empty of it except for the overflow coming through his throat and mouth, that his body was refusing to let flow anywhere else due to contracted muscles and collapsed veins, arteries and capillaries. And that ability the other one had, she knew exactly where Yvaltski was to the miniscule amount. It would have been fascinating to take apart her, see where her brain was different, check if she had gained any additional organs to facilitate that ability.

Ignoring the others I went to check on the neurotransmitter that was supposedly put in Sherri during her assault on research station six. The readout was enlightening, she was moving through the troops, including the newly enhanced third generation modified soldiers, like they were a joke. Even with a boost from modifying the base structure of their proteins with that provided by Sherri's blood in her suicidally fast and heavy defense of her new mate they were now simply frozen butter to her red hot knife. The lifesigns of the assault force were going flat more frequently than they were reloading according to the readouts. Sherri's on the other hand were far below resting for even the third generation even while mopping the floor with them.

This didn't seem to make sense though, she was with child and the details the neurotransmitter was pulling back from her brain indicated she was in her second trimester, but the pictures of her from the few times she was on camera for the past week showed her looking normal. Four days ago was her first sighting in over a year from what the system could pull together, and yet...

"Ma'am, your field lab is ready." Knocking on the door before sticking his head in was one of the proteomic specialists. But the protein changes hadn't helped, neither had the genome or enzyme changes being tested in research station six. Even the accelerated clones weren't making a dent in her progress, but she hadn't killed them yet, which was progress. She had made quick work of the one in the bioenhancement suit, so perhaps the genome implantation on these two had worked enough that they could at least stall her from their imminent demise by working together.

Tweaking the adrenal gland output on all the actives inside the enemy base I headed into the field lab. Looking over the various experts I had gathered over the years I looked at the only one who had stayed here. Sherri's true mother and my trusted adviser, and the one whose hair mine had been tweaked to replicate. Mentally tuning into her network I heard the mental ping of her acknowledging my presence. 'How is Sherryl?'

'Still hasn't killed two and three, which is good news. The transmitter is sending strange data that conflicts with the visuals we have of her from station six.' Looking away from her I saw the current data on four and five, attempting to reconstruct EO0 cell by cell rather than accelerated growth via manipulation of the pituitary and specialized hormone cocktails to reinforce the strength of their quite unique genome inheritance. Despite all of the attempts, no single clone or replicated version had managed to achieve what the original EO0 had without even trying. He hadn't even gotten a full gestation period before we took him yet he was easily stronger, smarter and healed faster than his mother or his father in their human forms. He rivaled generation two modified soldiers at only five years of age.

Looking over the different statistics and progress on the planning, I realized something. 'What if we focused on the mind for four and the body of five rather than try and combine them at the moment. We can utilize current G3 mental control in four and the physical boosts in five.'

'That is inspired, per usual sweet.' Walking around the room she started doing the usual, planting the idea, proposing changes to chemical and hormonal balances. Finally she spoke up, starting with "You know, what if we..."

"...Divided the focus between the two of them, make the focus of one of them the mental abilities and the other is physical. If we do that then we should be able to at least distract her while another can shoot her in the head."

Nodding she said "Depending on the mental results he might be able to even control enough units to completely take up her attention. We could designate a full unit of thirds to be under his control, if he even has half the mental alacrity of EO0 then he'll easily be the equal of our best G3s."

Sherri via Roslyn

They were endless, but it didn't matter now. She had reached Devil and his sanctuary. His creations would help her escape. She asked "Devil, how are you holding up?" Circling around him I floated behind and saw her looking at me, or rather to the 'Woman in White' who stood next to me.

"Well, ammo is being recycled between 'waves', but so far they can't get through here. Even their tanks aren't any use in these quarters thanks to Anne's reactionary shields. So what can I do for our personal goddess of war." he asked, obviously distracted by his repairs or modifications on a large 130mn+ machine gun.

"Well I need to get out of here actually, if I leave then most of their reason to be here goes away." she said, but it was obvious that even for her this all had been a strain on her child laden form. Even her figure was now more obviously pregnant. Another day had somehow put her looking like a girl who had been pregnant for three months rather than four days.

Looking up he had a moment of surprise, but to his credit he hid it well and looked solely at her face when he said "Ma'am, are you sure you should risk yourself, you look tired."

Sighing she said "Roslyn is dead." Pointing to the two dead bodies she had dragged in with her she continued, "Those two killed her, and they are basically brainless wannabe clones of mine and Mike's son. So you know, at this point I don't care, as long as the woman that caused all this dies, the woman who got me to agree to experiments after Mike died. The woman who told me I was pregnant and who told me that I had lost my child in my sleep." Taking a deep breath and steeling herself she suddenly had on her icy cold visage, "I will make sure she dies so that no one will ever believe her lies again. Dr. Protia will die."

Lisa

We're lost.

"We are twelve miles, two hundred and forty seven feet and six inches away." Renee said when I dropped onto the fallen tree log.

"Remmy you can stop telling me how close we get and just lead the way," I said.

Nodding she started walking, quietly, she never made a noise without someone else starting the conversation. If it weren't for her infallible sense of direction then I never would have even considered trying going after Mike in all likelihood, even if he did need the help.

"Thanks for your help Renee," I said, "I really appreciate it."

"Someone dangerous I know is going near. He killed my team until Sherri stopped him." She said without much detail. Why would Sherri have left someone dangerous alive if they were a danger to Renee who she seemed to view as a beloved younger sibling.

"Who did Sherri leave alive?" I asked my curiosity peaked.

"The Demon." Her silence telling more than the name itself did, 'A Monster who Sherri couldn't defeat.'

"We won't let him win, I promise." I replied.

"He is fifty feet from Mike."

Dr. Protia

"What do you mean we have eyes on the immortal, no agents are supposed to be in that area!" I snarled.

Recoiling he replied shakily "This isn't one of our controllable agents, its Demon."

An excited chill running down my spine I said "We need eyes on their fight."

Tera

"Her agent is here." I said to Mike.

"Hide then," he said.

Shaking my head I said "I can't it's the Demon, he knows my scent, and I recognize his energy." It was then that we heard the ground shake with his foot step, causing both of us to look at his huge figure. His black almost greasy skin, his half folded wings, the monstrous crease across his stomach that I knew opened into a second mouth. His face with its four eyes and series of horns where his hair should have been. Standing taller than the building he was next to I knew he came to an impressive eighteen feet of height.

Rumbling came his voice, the second mouth was the one that spoke, "The greatest meal of all!"

"You're gonna have to go through me first!" Mike said pulling out his combat knife.

Laughing he said "Fool, you are the meal!" His wings flapped once and he closed the gap in an instant. One arm thrust forth and grabbed Mike's hand, the one holding the knife. Pulling it back in an instant I saw Mike's arm pulled right out of its socket before the mouth ate it.

"I'm too tough and chewy," he said weakly as blood gushed out of his wound.

"Oh, I beg to differ! You're nice and muscular, quite tasty! And that regeneration, it adds a nice tangy flavour!" the main mouth said while the stomach chewed and rumbled its agreement. I knew I should run, leave, or even help Mike if I could, but I couldn't move. Just watch the spectacle that was going on.

"Lets dance then, I'll lead," Mike said using the sniper rifle he'd carried all the way here. The bullet hit dead on target, leaving a fist sized hole in the Demon's head as he fell forward onto one knee.

Coughing he said "A solid step, but let me show you the next before you make a misstep!" His wings beat enough to help him back to his feet before he grabbed one of Mike's legs, causing him to dangle off the ground. Bringing him close the Demon got his mouth around Mike's other shin and started grinding its teeth on Mike's now exposed flesh.

"How about that?" Mike said, taking aim at one of the wings and firing. His shot almost appeared to go wide before hitting the wing joint just right to shatter the joint and cause the weight to tear the thin skin of the rest of the wing. As the Demon roared he dropped Mike onto his head.

"You have not won yet," the main mouth said before the lower mouth spit a touch of blood while it roared "MORSEL!"

"You're just a giant chicken now," he said firing into the second mouth.

Choking on blood from the bullet hole he fell to his knees again before collapsing on top of Mike with the head saying "Enough with the appetizers! Now we'll go straight to the main course!" I could hear snapping and grinding before he picked himself up off the ground. Blood was dripping from the second mouth before it burped. And now was when he absorbed Mike's ability. But as his body began to grow like I had seen the scientists cause before, something was different, his body didn't stop. He started to appear bloated, his stomach distending, the second mouth groaning. "I... don't..." his mouths said in unison before he almost puked, one hand in front of each mouth, before his stomach rumbled and he blew up. Blinking for a moment I wiped the blood from my eyes and looked at the gore everywhere.

Eventually a pile of what appeared to be blood covered pieces of the Demon stood up, revealing itself to be Mike, with his arm back.

Dr. Protia

Looking at the feed I asked mentally 'This feed is accurate?'

'Yes, the Immortal killed the Demon. I suppose there go plans to use him for future projects.' she responded in kind.

'Possibly, but maybe a Perfect Immortal Demon would be able to balance the powers...' I suggested, 'We should look into that later.' Audibly i shouted "Back to work, this changes nothing, Perfect will still be able to find a way to kill him."

Sherri via Roslyn

Shifting gears she pulled up beside Lisa and Renee, her tracking device working perfectly. "Get in." she ordered, her cold demeanor fully back, none of the manic energy left in her voice.

Renee got in without a question, her trust in the normally crazed lizard absolute. It made me wonder what exactly she had done to effect such loyalty in the somewhat simple fox. Looking around I saw the Woman in White nodding before gesturing to Lisa, who was refusing to get in the vehicle. Wiping a finger on her cheek she gestured to me, which made me realize that Sherri could see me for a moment. "Sherri, I'm sorry."

"Roslyn is dead, I intend to get even."

"With who?" Lisa asked.

"Protia. She is the cause of all of this." Sherri answered.

"Are you sure you can keep the focus?" she asked.

Taking a moment she inhaled and exhaled, but anyone could see that she was completely set on this goal, she responded "There is only one thing left in this world that can kill me, that can stop me. And I am certain he won't."

Nodding she said, "Good."

"Getting in then?" Sherri asked.

Climbing in she said, "Lets get to Mike."

"We are eleven miles, two hundred and forty nine feet and nine inches away, that direction." Renee said when Sherri looked at her with the unspoken question.

Starting up the car again Sherri said "Thanks sweetheart." As she drove off she used her reflexes to easily avoid the trees she couldn't drive through even with Devil's modifications. Continuing to accelerate she didn't even slow when we pulled out of the forest right before a town and came upon a convoy of tanks headed towards us. Pulling around to the side and onto sidewalk she used a disability ramp to go up onto two wheels, flicked the switch for the launchers on the roof and fired them as if in a strafing run, taking out several tanks simultaneously and knocking the car back onto all four wheels from the blast.

A crackling came across the radio a moment afterwards, "Geist, I am inclined to believe that it is you I am speaking to."

"Whos that?" Lisa asked.

"The name or the voice?" Sherri asked without looking away from her task at hand.

"The voice, and can I tell them to go kill themselves?" Lisa asked.

"Protia, so no, that would be my pleasure" Sherri said before grabbing the radio transmitter and saying "What do you want Protia."

After a moment of silence, besides the engine, the radio spat out "Just a talk, I thought you would like to know that at this moment Mike is heading towards the center where your son is being held. He seems rather intent on killing the boy."

"And why do I care about your lies?" Sherri asked, pulling sharply enough around a corner to avoid a barricade so as to be driving on the wall of the building when the sidewalk popped her wheels up..

"Because this is the truth, signal frequency 8v49 alpha." Protia responded briefly over the radio.

Growling for a moment Sherri patted Renee when she reached around and typed the key. Ignoring how she knew to do that I took a look at the image on the screen, it was indeed Mike breaking into a secure compound.

"Is there any possible way that if thats Mike he has an ulterior purpose?" Lisa asked, "Surely he's walking into that place for a different reason."

"It's possible," Sherri said before looking to the woman in white, who shook her head, "But I doubt it. He expressed a desire to kill our son so he couldn't be used by them like we were."

"That's fair but he'd have no idea where to start looking besides, he wants to protect the innocents not kill them." Lisa said.

Taking a moment Sherri responded with a very cold, "Killing military personnel isn't killing innocents. Neither is smashing a gps tracker or a gun, that is how he currently views our son."

"How would he know they'd be there? He's been off grid, he couldn't be found." Lisa said.

"Being off the grid doesn't mean you cut ties with the world, it means you make a new persona to work behind. I still have contacts and so would he. The existing stratocracy, if it can still be called that, is a much hated organization."

"Stop being a stupid bitch! Protia's got you right where she wants you! Shes going to get you to fight him so she doesn't have to worry about him. She thinks you're the only possible way to kill Mike." Lisa said yelled.

"I never said I believed her." Sherri responded simply, that single line deflating the self righteous anger that Lisa was feeling.

"Then get on Mike's side, right now hes a man with no country." Lisa said simply.

"You asked me questions, I answered. I didn't answer in favor of Mike or Protia, because right now, he doesn't want to live, he just wants to see everything burn. I might have to kill him a few times to stop him from killing us all. But the goal is to kill Protia, she is the shadow puppet master." But I could feel that Sherri didn't believe what she was saying, she felt that she might need to kill him completely.

"A few more times from you might end up killing a man whom left your line of work because the world he saw was burning already. He just wants left out of a conflict he didn't ask to be a part of, and frankly I think thats fair." Lisa said.

"He's the one that walked right into the belly of the beast, I didn't make him do that and neither did Protia. He chose it, and if you want to yell at anyone, yell at him for dragging himself back into it." Sherri said before turning sharply to a park and opening the passenger side door with her tail before shoving Lisa out into Mike. "This is your chance, I told you I didn't believe her, and with good reason."

"Mike what the hell are you doing?" Lisa demanded.

Before Mike could answer a loud noise rang out from the roof tops and Lisa jerked forward into Mike's arms, her upper chest hollowed out from the shot.

"That's it!" Mike yelled as he brought his rifle to his hand and pointed in the direction the shot came from but right as he pulled the trigger the girl from the facility, Tera, shoved the rifle, making the shot go wide.

"It was my fault she died," both Sherri and Tera said at the same time. As they looked at each other for a moment I saw Tera look at me before saying "Her death isn't on your hands, and neither is the death of the lizard from before." Closing her eyes she sat down and put her hands on Lisa, a moment later when she opened her eyes they were glowing a brownish yellow and there was a scream from the direction the shooter would have been in. Falling onto her side she whispered "He won't take another life..." before passing out.

"Put Tera in the car Geist, cover her up. I'm breaking a promise I made. Anyone who gets in my way is gonna die." He said taking off his shirt.

Nodding she did so in a blur before putting a hand to her stomach. Looking at Mike she asked "What promise?"

"That I'd spare soldiers because they are just as ignorant as we were, I don't care about that anymore. It's personal." he said.

"That doesn't make them innocent though." Sherri said before gently picking up Lisa and asking "This is the same girl from the facility, is she why you came here?" Before putting her in the car she adjusted Lisa's shirt, what remained, so she wasn't indecent.

"Yeah, the nuclear power here makes it hard to track her, impossible to find as a matter of fact. She's like a damn homing beacon." He said, "Leave Lisa's body here we can collect the dead later if there are any bodies left to collect. Who's that?".

"No." Sherri said before answering "Renee, tracker extraordinaire, she can find anyone she's seen a picture of."

"Fine, I'm giving you a fair warning though, I won't hesitate to kill anyone who gets in my way. Innocent blood has been spilled and now someones gonna pay in blood. I do mean anyone," he said in a cold tone almost rivaling Sherris own.

"You said that already." Sherri said before getting in the driver's seat. A moment later the radio buzzed and she grabbed the transmitter saying "Protia, good timing, you have someone who wants to meet you, but should we meet you or get our son first."

"I believe you would be particularly interested in what is going on at his facility right about now, I'll even come let you in the door. In fact I will make the two of you a deal, if you both give me some of your blood, I'll let you leave and never be bothered by this government or me again. Not even through proxy. And you can have your son of course." She answered evenly.

"It's too late for that Protia, you have blood on your hands, Roslyn, my mate, and Lisa, Mike's mate, are both dead."

There was a momentary pause before Sherri heard something she had never expected to hear, "Lisa, the white rabbit girl, is dead. I ordered her to be left alive." Protia's voice was angry, but in the tight lipped and in control kind of anger that left not a doubt as to her intentions. "Mike, you have my apologies, I liked her. I take it her killer is dead, correct?"

"Yes. And you are next, because even if you didn't order it, this situation is your fault." Sherri said before releasing the transmitter and turning to Renee, "Renee, can you find our son since you have met us?"

Nodding she pointed to the right, "Six miles, one hundred and twenty three feet."
