Gemini – Chapter 9: Greed (Part 1)
#9 of Gemini - Book 1
The first part of the ninth part of Clovers adventure.

"Well, that could have gone better." Clover sighed to himself as he sat with Spike in the upper level of the library.
"I know right, I mean I knew that Apple Jack would have been honest about her opinions, but jeez. That was too far." Lamented Spike, "(Sigh) I didn't know being this way would be so difficult."
Clover could hear the distress in the dragon's voice and immediately tried to console the poor soul and embraced him. He could feel the strange yet comforting tension between them rise as their eyes met, unconsciously their heads moved closer simultaneously. Their eyes closed, his heart stopped. For that moment the fight downstairs didn't matter, all was peaceful.
"SPIKE WANT!" The now not so little dragon roared into his ear, Clover fought hard with flailing hooves to get away from the lusting beast in front of him. As true fear and panic set on his face he could slowly begin to see the real Spike's features melting through that of the beast. Clover dropped from the giants grip and could now see what had happened to him, he had grown dramatically from the size of a foal to just over a pony, in terms of proportions the only thing that had changed was the increased girth of his fore-arms.
"Oh no!" the creature said in Spike's voice, "Twilights gonna' kill me if she finds out I've messed up again." It was now clear that whilst the body might have changed, but it was still his Spike. "I've got to go hide, but where?"
"Spike, I'm coming with you." Clover stated with absolute confidence, "I won't let you go through this alone."
"Thanks Clover, but where are we gonna'... are the others still having an argument downstairs?" At Spike's request Clover put his ear against the door and listened. A simple nod was Spike's answer. "Good, we can use the barn at sweet apple acres for now." Spike said as he opened a window and climbed out with Clover latched to his back, when they reached the ground they bolted for the barn whilst trying to be seen as little as possible.
