Stealthy Darkness of Night

I have never written a story regarding a human and an animal or an animal and an animal in a yiffy kind of way. However, upon stumbling onto this site several weeks ago I have gotten interested in the stories written on this internet site, and most I have read are pretty good.

Before I begin this story, a little background to the story; It takes place in India, where a known terrorist has set up base in a dense forest. The US army sets up a command base in New Delhi, and sent a very elite troop out into the bush. The troopers sent into the bush have had their genes altered so they are now animals. However, they walk like normal humans, and talk like normal humans. It was easy to send these soldiers in for reconisence, because who would think of an animal being a soldier for the US army.

Please tell me in a constructive way, if you like my story or not. Because I will not be able to improve my writing skills if no one tells me. However, I do not like anyone saying this is 'crap' or stuff like that. It is disrespectful to the author who has worked so hard to entertain. If you do find something wrong, and say it in constructive criticism, I am all ears and will thank you. Now please enjoy the story!

Smoke rose from several huts in the small village which happened to be well hidden from the civilized world by a dense forest that surrounded it. There was no apparant sign of modern civilization reaching this place except for the church in the middle of the village. Oh, and the villa on the outskirts of the village just before the dense forest, with six foot high, barbed wire fences and 50 caliber machine gun placements near the villa's entrance.

In the forest a dark shadow moved, as a bird let out a shrill call of warning, by a small glint of moonlight that had happened to have made its way to the forest floor. This shadow then jumped into a tree about 10 feet from its position without making a sound. Yellow eyes, filled with hunger, flashed as a second, then a third, and then a fourth shadow appeared in the trees nearby. While two more shadows appeared on the dense forest floor, no sound made between any of them.

A buzzing noise soon echoed through the quiet forest, and the dark shadow growled softly before touching the side of his head.

static... "this is Major Jones from Sylil base to ... shadow squad ... report"

The lead shadow in an almost inaudible voice said;

"we are here, at the location. We have not been detected by anny one of the preyy. ... static ... We are waiting for the word to move in. Over! ... static"

At that moment a blinding light went off in front of the six shadows revealing to the enemysix animals. However, these animals were unlike any others. First of all, they were on their hindlegs and had the uniform of the U.S. army and a flak jacket on. The lead animal a large muscled target who had talked to Major Jones, jumped out of the tree as several flares were fired above them revealing two other tigers, a cheetah and two wolves.

The tiger-like creature landed upon the ground and realizing that their cover and secret had been blown. He aw movement in front of him because of his excellent sense of sight. Letting out a huge roar he charged forward, and he heard his fellow squadmates roar their own battlecall behind him. In an instance, several flashes of gun fire appeared in fron of him and he heard human yells and screams and the tiger creature realized that they were disorganized and confused. Perfect target!

The tiger collided into something soft, human prey, and sent it flying into a nearby tree where it landed on the ground with a sickening thud. With sharp fangs dripping with anticipation, he jumped on his victim and bit deeply into the man's shoulder, hearing bones break. A nice warm copperish taste, blood, filled his mouth and the tiger continued to crunch down on the man's shoulder. The man struggled weakly as the animal above him let go of his shoulder, blood oozing from the wound. His eyes opened up in fear as he looked at the creature with the man's blood dripping from his teeth, before it clamped down around his throat and he saw nothing but darkness.

The tiger felt a bullet graze him on his right flank as he finished off the soldier below. Several more bullets flew by and hit the tree behind him as he ducked and snuck into the brush.

As the tiger got down on his belley, his fur running along the mud making him growl, to escape the light arms fire directed at him, he heard the screams of human beings as his squadmates battled with these inferior beings.

A buzz rung in his furry ear and he touched the side of his head and heard;

"god damn it. You were not suppose to attack, we needed permission from the Indian government."

The tiger growled and felt several more bullets whiz by and he lunged out of his hiding spot and tackled a well built man who had been aiming a machine gun at one of his squadmates. The man struggled against the Tiger on top of him but cried out as the tiger placed all 275lb of muscle on him to pin the soldier down and with the man's neck exposed, bit deeply into the back of the man's neck, snapping his spine and letting him bleed to death in an extremely slow and painful death.

The tiger rose from the dead body and noticied that gunfire from the armed suspects was more spacious and not as consistent as at the beginning of the battle. He turned his muzzle towards the villa and began to silently head towards its main entrance. Believing that his teammates could take out the opposition from the village, but the large cat was stopped in its tracks.

Several massive detonations shook the ground mere feet in front of the tiger resulting in hot (shrapnal) metal to traverse into his flak jacket and powerflu hindlegs knocking him backwards. Thick blood began to spurt from several wounds and he was partially blind because his eyes were extremely sensitive to bright light.

He tried to stand up but stumbled to his knees and let out a roar of pain. As he continued to struggle and try to fight, he heard the sound of a 50 caliber machine gun at the front of the villa begin to fire. The tiger knew it was hopeless as he felt a slug enter his left shoulder and another entered the flakjacket near one of his lungs.

At the US command center in New Delhi, Major Jones knew they had a problem on their hands. First of all, American forces had attacked a suspected terrorist without consulting the friendly nation that his base resided in, probably starting a diplomatic war between both nations over the issue of sovereignty, or some crap like that. More importantly, the soldiers who raided this terrorist villa were anthro-animals, humans who were altered genetically out of the research center in Fort Bragg. If the world found out the United States would have the public, animal rights organizations, and allied governments bitching and complaining about genetic testing and violation of rights and crap like that. On top of that, terrorists and rogue states would try to come up with an even better animal soldier.

He rubbed his eyes in frustration s he sat at his desk. From command center, all six lights (trackers) indicating where the six soldiers were, were out. However, they could be alive (most likely not) or they could be dead, who knew. It didn't really matter either way, the US army was in for trouble if it didn't fix the problem soon.

He sighed, picked up the red phone next to him, dialed a few numbers and in a gruff voice said;

"Get me the President!!"
