A simple kid friendly story that I created talking about my Dragonwing Crimburn. Right now it is in prototype form and if there people who would like to see me continue this story, please let me know. :)

Friend or Foe?

Crimburn the dragon woke up to find himself deep inside a large cave. His eyes begining to adjust to the darkness that was all around him with only a little light to shine inside for him to see by. He shook himself too and was able to rise to his feet, he was unsure of what exactly happened. Listening in he could hear the sound of voices and knew some where deep down that he would need to escape.

The voices were getting louder as what ever creature was nearing the corner. He began to try moving until he felt himself stopped about 10 feet from the door. He began to start gagging a bit, until he realized something was choking him. Turning his head around he could see a large metal chain that was tied to some post. He traced the coil but couldn't see where it ended.

He used one of his front paws to try to feel around where the chain connected. He gasped as he realized the metal collar was around his neck. If he was to escape he would need to remove it. He wished that he had the powers of one of the other dragons, for surely they would have figured out how to get out of this jam.

He honestly hoped that who ever was coming by would be able to save him. His tail swayed back and forth as if shifting to sense the presence. Crimburn wished he had his boomerang with him but it got seperated from him on his way to this strange world. He began to sniff around the corner of the open door and the scent of apes slowly began to fill his nostrils. He let out a growl knowing that they would probably do something to him.

Eventually the creatures finally came in to look at the captured dragon. They began to jeer at him. Clearly he could see that they were apes. "Time to wake up you sleepy head." one of the ape guards prodded him with a stick. "No time for dallying." another ape spoke.

Crimburn yanked at his chain as he heard their words. He so wanted to lay his claws on those two and be out of here but he was still chained. "I so want to claw you filthy creatures right about now." Crimburn growled. He then received another knock on his head with a stick.

A third ape came in behind the two and proceeded to head towards the dragon's chain. He had to proceed with caution for he didn't want the others to suspect what he was about to do. He was a kind of washed up warrior from the old days but he still had enough knowledge to be sneaky.

He sighed at the incompetence of the younger generation, they were not as good as the older generation which included him. To be a warrior of the army then one didn't rely on brute force to get the job done, one was sneaky and could get into places with ease.

He knew that the master would want this dragon freed so that he could see him. Yet he didn't want that to happen, he despised the dragons but for some reason his heart was telling him this one was different.

"You are lucky that the master wants to see you." The first ape growled. "No funny business you dragon or you will receive another knock on the head." The second ape replied.

He knew that the other ones were quite dimwitted, had they been smarter they would have been more alert. Even the dragon himself didn't even hear him as he got to the end of the chain. The third ape slowly began to loosen the chain. He wanted to be the one to present the dragon to the master. Yet he was a lower on the pole of helpers. He knew that his friend the smith would want to examine this dragon more closely. To him it looked way too young for it to be out on its own.

He knew for a fact that this creature was no warrior at all. He heard about the way the dragon fought and found it to be kind of pathetic. However he was at all not wanting admit that to the dragon.

Crimburn turned his head to look at the ape near the end of his chain, but he felt it slowly begin to lose grip on it. This one was just like the rest but why on earth was it freeing him. Could it be on his side or was there some other motive? He thought. What ever the case he was not going to stay to find out. He turned his head to keep the other guards from guessing what was happening.
