It was a day like any other for the two, the commander, a Fox, was wearing his long green thin winter-type duster coat, along with long black boots and gloves, he greeted his best friend, a wolf just before their next mission, the wolf was wearing his helmet and standard army camouflaged uniform, as they both got into their helicopter and closed the side doors waiting to arrive along with some other soldiers, they took a moment to observe the landscape they were fighting in.
the landscape was a thick urban area, the city mostly on fire or destroyed with gunfire raining through the streets.
as they landed the soldiers rushed off, the commander and his friend headed for the nearby graveyard, for that is where their mission was, and as they arrived the commander spotted someone enter a nearby tunnel, most likely an enemy.
"I think I saw someone, I'll go check it out, stay here Crimson, guard the area, we don't want anyone storming us from behind so we have to split up, I will be back momentarily." the commander said to his friend, heading for the tunnel.
as he was chasing the figure he noticed a small encampment of enemy scouts, naturally he sneaked in on them not making a single sound, but as he approached he noticed that the scouts were indeed his enemy, but they were also some of his former soldiers, his friends, officers that served along him once, he silently ended the one scout and shot the remaining two with his silenced pistol, sorrow in his eyes he looked around the small encampment and found what they came here for, the evidence of a third party having organized a war between the two factions.
he immediately headed out silently and saw his friend crimson sitting down by the wall with his head down, the commander went over to him and said "hey crimson, I have what we need, all we need to do is get back now and this will be over" crimson didn't reply, he didn't even move, the commander nudged him and crimson slid sideways along the wall, revealing he had been shot and killed, the commander immediately embraced his friend not believing what he saw, shortly afterwards he turned around, only to be shot himself, he passed out beside his friend having been hit in the arm he wouldn't die.
later when he woke up it was raining, he sat up crouching and looked over at his friend, a tear went along his cheek as he got up and headed for the helicopter, he shortly noticed that the information he was to gather was the thing that prevented him from being killed by the bullet, at the expense it was destroyed.
he managed to get to the helicopter and saw only everyone inside had also been killed, though the commander entered regardless, and sat in his seat, he closed the doors and waited, as he sat there he was bleeding out, though he just sat there, waiting to go home.
and lastly as he closed his eyes, he saw his friends, his family, everyone he knew, and then the commander let out his last breath, and embraced his friend, smiling happily.
