Flame waited with Roshi, Bulma, Oolong, Yamcha, Krillin, and the others, having a small chat with Gohan before he left to go back to Otherworld. After Gohan departed, he sat and waited for Goku, enjoying the scenery a little bit before Krillin stepped up. He looked at Krillin curiously, wondering what was on Krillin's mind.

"You almost lost to Devilman. Why?"

"It's something rather personal Krillin. We're good friends, but I believe there's a time and place for everything, and now's not the time nor the place."

"Hmph... alright, just waiting for Goku, right?"

"Yep. He'll win against Pilaf."

After waiting for roughly two hours, Goku returned, but wearing different clothing and holding the one star ball, laughing happily. Flame only nodded as he gathered the other dragonballs and the little kid, flying back to Korin's Tower and wishing back the kid's father before Goku decided he needed to train harder. Flame agreed and decided to train with Goku in preparation for the next Martial Arts Tournament.

After the four years of training against one another in solitude, they both arrived at the Martial Arts Tournament, signing up and ready to begin. Flame couldn't help but notice Jackie Chun's name once again, knowing that he may have gotten stronger since last time. Of course, the meal before the fights was impressive, considering how Goku could put away all that food in one sitting. Flame could only smile, knowing all that food would turn into much needed energy.

"Come on Goku, save some for everyone else. I love a banquet as much as you do, but that's the reason why we can't go out to eat."

"How come Big Brother? Doesn't everyone eat like this?"

Flame only sighed heavily, rubbing his head. "I should've enlisted you into eating contests..."

Everyone went to sleep, and the next morning, Flame, Goku, Krillin, and Jackie Chun managed to make it to the finals, along with Yamcha and two other people who were new. Flame could sense that they had impressive power, but couldn't be sure of who exactly they were.

After the ballots were drawn, Flame was on the other side of the board, Goku having to face Yamcha, Krillin facing Chiaotsu, Jackie Chun facing Tien, and finally, Flame facing another fighter. Thinking it odd, Flame shrugged his shoulders and rolled his shoulders.

When the fight began, the fighter didn't stand a chance against Flame as kicked the opponent out of the ring without a second thought, knowing from the lineup that he'd be fighting Tien next. Krillin and Goku would be facing each other as well, knowing Goku's secret. He sat down and watched ringside as Krillin tried everything to beat Goku, even pulling on his tail, but failed as Goku knocked Krillin out of the ring.

Flame nodded to Goku as he stepped up to face Tien, bowing respectfully to his opponent before standing up in his stance. As the battle started, Tien rushed right at him with a knee that seemed familiar. Flame blocked it and provided his double fist punch, pushing Tien back from him.

"Strange, I've seen that knee attack before. Mercenary Tao used it."

"He was my Master's brother."

"My apologies, but Tao chose the life of a mercenary. He knew he what he was getting into."

"I will avenge him!"

With that, Tien came once more, giving Flame the opportunity to end this easily. He grabbed Tien's arms and rolled back, kicking him out of the ring and easily progressing to the finals. He smiled at Goku, who looked resolved. That night's banquet was another gutbusting feast for Goku, but Flame also piled down the food, knowing he'd need every bit of energy to fight his younger brother.

The following day, both Goku and Flame stepped onto the arena, prepared to fight all out. They both knew each others abilities and fighting styles, so it would be a truly fair fight. They both bowed to one another, ready as always.

When the fight began, they both used the exact same moves, like mirror copies, not dealing any blows to one another. They even used their Kamehameha attacks, and got no where. Flame was impressed at how strong Goku grew, being able to stay on par with him every step of the way so far. Neither of them backed down as they continued the close quarter assault, no damage being dealt at all, the crowd roaring at such a spectacular fight. Finally, they broke away, panting a bit as they stared at each other.

"Well done Goku, you've grown really powerful. I'm proud of you."

"Thank you Big Brother, but the fight's not over yet."

Goku launched himself forward, Flame reacting by launching as well, both of them grappling hard as their strength was realized to everyone there. Flame had more stamina, but Goku had much more to give before this fight was over. They both decided play time was over, and started to use everything they had.

The next few hours was a blur, as were the opponents as they unleashed hell on each other. Punches, kicks, and energy blasts so fast they were barely comprehendable by anyone untrained. Even Tien was in awe at how fast they were going, and when they stopped to take a breath, it was visible that they were taking blows at last. They showed they were getting tired and unable to keep this up much longer.

"Goku... I'm really proud of you... one more Kamehameha for the road?"

"Yes Big Brother... one more..."

They both charged up a Kamehameha for the last time this fight, and they had enjoyed it tremendously. They both unleashed their attacks, seemingly the same strength. Flame didn't want to lose, but at the same time, didn't want to kill his brother. He put a little bit more energy into his attack, pushing Goku's blast back.

"So you really were holding back Big Brother."

"You know the drill Goku. Gotta test you! HAA!!!!"

Flame pushed more energy into his blast, finally hitting Goku before it exploded. When the smoke cleared, Goku was standing, but barely before he collapsed and the countdown starting. Flame kept his stance, finally able to catch his breath after so much fighting. The countdown reached 8... 9... 10... and Flame won, but instead of celebrating, he rushed over to Goku to check he was alright.

What he held was a sleeping Goku, apparently tired out after all. Flame could only smile as he woke him up and told him it was time to eat. Goku just gave a cheesy grin while Flame carried him on over to the banquet hall to eat. Krillin mentioned about grabbing Goku's powerpole before running off while they ate. Flame and Goku couldn't be any happier, Flame proving he was still stronger, but barely.
