Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Ventures of Beyond

Shiro's eyes widened when he recognized the red fox from earlier that day who he now knew was a Vulpix.

"Oh, Great you again." The Vulpix growled angrily "It's because of you that I was late for my training..."

Shiro looked down at his paws. "I'm sorry; I didn't mean anything by it." He apologized

"Now, now Aya haven't I told you not to be rude to our guests?" A much larger female fox spoke.

Shiro looked up as soon as she started to talk and now he was staring at her in awe. 'This must be the Guildmaster Ninetales'

Royce spoke next introducing Shiro "Shiro this is the Guildmaster Ninetales, You probably noticed that she doesn't have a nickname like you and I. The reason for that is because nicknames are a new concept in this world, so most pokemon don't have nicknames unless a parent has had many children or the child is someone of high status like Aya and me."

Shiro tore his eyes from Ninetales and nodded to Royce.

"Welcome Shiro. This is the Ninetales Treasure Hunting Guild. We primarily are treasure hunters but we like all guilds handle mixed traits like Rescue's, Exploring, and Hunting criminals." Ninetales said calmly. "This is my daughter Aya; I apologize if she's been giving you a hard time. She has a hot head and a short temper."

Shiro looked over to Aya who was giving him a dangerous glare. .

"We will look into locating your mother immediately" Ninetales said

Over the next few months after no one claimed had come to claim Shiro. Ninetales offered to let him train in the guild and he accepted. He began to train alongside Aya over the next year. Aya quickly began to bully Shiro now that he was no longer a guest. They no longer relied on an instructor to guide them in a fight so she never held back.

Shiro and Aya were doing battle practice. Shiro was losing as he always was.

Aya started with roar sending Shiro across the room hitting the wall with a thud; by the time he recovered she hit him at full speed using Quick Attack.

"How are you going to ever beat me if you're always lying on the floor?" She said challengingly

Shiro took the moment to hit her with a Tackle but missed only to receive an Ember in the face.

"Look at you; you can't even hit me because you're too slow. You're so pathetic ya know that? At this rate you won't even get to be on a team." She continued

Shiro looked away from her pressing his ears flat against his head. He didn't argue, mostly because he felt that she was right.

"You don't belong here" she said at last "I knew you were too weak the moment we met"

He heard her walk away and waited a few minutes before going to his own room to rest.

As the time passed Shiro continued to think of the things Aya said to him over the course of the year.

"She's right....I'm weak and I'm not getting any stronger." He said to himself. 'Why? Why am I not getting any stronger? Is it because I don't belong here? Should I leave? Yes, I think it may be for the best to leave.' He managed to fall asleep.

"Shiro? Where are you little dude?" Leon's voice said cutting through Shiro's sleep.

"Shiro darling there you are? What are you doing sleeping at this time of day?" Zola said next.

Shiro sat up "Leon? Zola? What are you doing back? Is Royce ok?" Shiro said.

"Royce is fine dear. He's with the Guildmaster giving his report." said Zola.

Zola Is a Serperior who is the fastest on her team she uses both her looks and high speed to overwhelm her opponents. She is the trap seeker of the team using her Vine Whip to test the path ahead of the team.

"You know how he likes to keep things in the down low while Zola and I go and pull in the crowds." Leon said with his calm and extra cool act in full gear.

Leon is quite simply the hot head on the team being a Typhlosion. He's well known to be the fiercest fire type in the guild, next to Ninetales. He likes to blast his opponents into submission. He specializes in taking down Monster House's normally finding them ahead of time and 'Going wild' as he calls it.

Royce is the leader of the team he normally plans out strategies in the dungeon and he rarely miscalculates. His job is to make sure he and his team gets through the ever changing Mystery Dungeons and to the goal at the end with as little difficulty as they can.

The trio is known as Team Audacity they are as famous as their rival, Team Charm who also stop by often. One difference about Team Audacity is that all members of the team are royalty in the towns they call home.

"Yeah He hates crowds" Shiro agreed the door opened again and Royce walked in.

"Battle practice wasn't good today I hear" Royce said instantly

Shiro looked at his paws "Yes sir, I can't even touch her."

"I've been thinking about your situation and I think I understand why that is. She's fast and has that nasty ember of hers. At your current level you aren't a match and because of that you can't advance your skills properly. You need to find a separate way to train" Royce pointed out.

Shiro visited with Team Audacity for a few more hours before they left to rest for the night. Shiro went out to town while everyone settled down for the night.

'Royce may be right. I'm too low of a level and she has better moves because of it. She is using me to make herself better but how do I turn the tables?' he goes back to his room and finds a box next to his bed with a card attached to it.

It reads:

For 1 Year you have been with us and although your life has been hard we are glad to have someone at the guild we can count on, someone that is always happily waiting for our return to the guild. As thanks we got you something to help you.

Shiro opened the box and gasped when he saw the contents.....
