#1 of WIP

A scientific expedition to another world runs into problems when the native flora and fauna takes a liking to the scientists. None among the crew can predict what will happen when one of their own decides to bring back a specimen. Will the secret plans of another among them doom them all? The scientists and soldiers will have to fight for their lives. Will they survive?

Proximity to planet: 30,000 kilometers

Decent speed: 1,000 kph

Approach vector: shallow

Status: Systems show green

"Confirmed. Begin decent sequence on my mark."

"Affirmative. Awaiting command. Commencing decent on your mark."

"3...2...1... mark. Begin decent sequence. Initiate landing thrusters. Vent exhaust from external hatches. Secure all hatches. Stow hyperdrive. Is everything on schedule?"

"Affirmative."

"Good. Alert me at planet fall. I am going to take a nap."

"Negative. During planetfall, all crew must be at stations."

"You expect me to sit here for the next 30 HOURS?! Are you out of your cybernetic mind?!"

"Error. Command not recognized. Please restate."

"Never mind. Override. Authorization Alpha Pi 1135."

"Confirmed. Authorization accepted. Notification set. Planetfall in 29 hours, 55 minutes, 27 seconds."

Alex returned to hir quarters from some much needed sleep. Shi had been at the helm for something like 16 hours straight already. It was bordering on being painful to even move. Shi slowly made hir way back to hir quarters and the comfort of hir bed. Grabbing hir favorite teddy-bear, Alex lay down and quickly was asleep. As shi slept, the computer made the millions of calculations needed to bring the massive ship to a gentle landing on the planet's surface. It would be hours until even the semblance of a view of the planet's surface was possible. As such, Alex would have plenty of time to recuperate. Hir dreams were strange, but no more so than they had been over the last few weeks. Space travel always gave the beautiful herm strange dreams.

[a few hours later]

Alex stood slowly and stretched. Shi had a habit of sleeping nude and this time was no exception. Shi was the only human currently awake on board and thus felt no real need to wear hir uniform when not working. Walking slowly to hir cabin door, shi yawned and scratched the back of hir neck. Shi reached for the door but it failed to open. Sighing, shi tried to open it manually. This also failed to work. Sighing again, shi keyed the com panel next to the door.

"Computer, open my door."

"Unable to comply. System resources unavailable."

"Open the damn door!"

"Unable to comply. System resources unavailable."

"Stupid computer. Override. Auth..."

"Unable to comply. System resources unavailable."

Alex knew this was getting hir nowhere. Shi pulled open the panel next to the door and reached inside. This would open the door. Pulling with all hir might, shi managed to pry the door open. Growling about antiquated hardware, shi stomped angrily onto the bridge. Flopping down into hir chair naked, shi watched the planet growing bigger in the viewscreen. The planet below was actually rather beautiful. It had no name officially, but many in the Federation called it Amazonia due its similarity to The Amazon on Earth. Alex thought the comparison was a bit forced but could see how some might think there was a similarity. Shaking hir head, Alex stood slowly and, realizing shi was naked, walked to the galley. Shi was still not feeling like getting dressed. The main computer might be busy with landing the huge craft, but the galley computer was not. Alex figured now was a good time for breakfast. it wasn't as if there was anything else to do right now.

Meanwhile the computer was having trouble with all the warnings from the environmental systems. As the massive Explorer descended, the environmental sensors recorded several unknown contagions in the atmosphere. The scanners could not make heads or tails of the readings and the AI was have no better luck. Under normal circumstances, the pilot would be notified. Since Alex had overridden the safety protocols, that warning was not sent. The AI attempted to analyze the readings while still maintaining the landing sequence. Much like Alex's door, the messages from the sensors required resources that the landing sequence could not spare.

"Unable to decode readings. Landing protocols in effect. All systems redirected to landing sequence. All data shunted to backup systems until further notice. Notify officer of the day when possible."

With that one brief statement, the AI ignored all further warnings from the environmental systems. Alex had now finished eating breakfast and was looking for something to do for the next few hours. Shi wandered the ship for a bit before deciding to go use the holodeck for a while. Its computer was independent of the main computer and could be used at any time. Shi passed a digital time display and saw that there were 21 hours until landing. Shi walked toward the lift and took it to the recreation desk. Stepping out of the lift, shi walked slowly down the hall toward the holodeck. Stopping at the control panel, Alex started hir favorite program. It was a combination of porn and first-person shooter. Shi had lost quite a few hours, if not days, playing it. Shi knew shi would not need to worry about something to do while waiting for decent to be completed.

[21 hours and many, many games later]

"Any problems during landing?"

"Negative. All landing protocols completed successfully. Further data unavailable."

"Understood. Open the hatch."

"Affirmative. Hatch now opening."

Alex exited the ship and looked around taking in the wonder of a new, unexplored world. Shi took a deep breath and walked down the boarding ramp. What shi did not know was that there was a problem. The computer in its mad dash to take care of every detail of the landing had inadvertently failed to save the environmental report. The atmosphere of this planet seemed to have an unknown element in it. This element was found on no other planet in the galaxy. Those who had explored this planet before the Federation decided to colonize it often called it TFG, or transformation gas. It was responsible for more transformations than all the SRS surgeons put together. Most found the transformation to be rather disconcerting at first. Everyone eventually enjoyed it, though. Alex had walked about 10 meters from the ship when shi started to cough violently.

Rushing back to the ship, shi flung open the hatch to the medical bay. Panting, Alex searched for a breather in the medical cabinets. Finding none, shi went back out to the bridge to see if the computer had any information on their location.

"Alexander, do we have any breathers?"

"Negative. No breathers are currently in stock. However, you will find a supply of envirosuits in the cargo hold. Be warned that they are experimental. Caution should be exercised at all times while using the envirosuit."

"Understood."

Alex wondered down to the cargo bay and began to search for an environmental suit. Pulling open a large container, shi found the suits. Envirosuits usually were bulky things of white plastic. These were made of green spandex. Covering the body from head to toe, the suit would provide protection from almost any planet's environment. Alex quickly stripped down to hir birthday suit only to realize shi was still naked. Shi donned the stretchy garment then looked down at hirself and had to smile at the form-fitting suit shi was now wrapped in. Shi now headed back out to explore a bit before reviving the scientists. The protocol was that shi would establish a base of operations then revive the construction crew. Once they had built the labs and other structures, the scientists would be awakened. The flora and fauna certainly was different. Just in the first hour alone, shi had seen three different species of tree that did not exist on Earth and nearly a dozen types of fox-like creature. What really got hir though was the rocks.

Shi had already collected several rocks that were mildly erotic. Continuing what hir instruments said was north, Alex stumbled (literally) across a rock that could only be called x-rated. It was clearly a phallus shape. IT had a distinctly purple color to it, except near the tip where it turned almost translucent. Alex picked it up and shuddered. Hir suit protected hir from any sort of microbes that might do hir harm. The problem was that the microbes on this rock were not listed in the database so the suit was totally unaware that a) they could do some very serious "harm" to hir, and b) that they were even there to begin with. Alex stuffed the rock in hir pocket and continued to walk a bit further from the ship. It wasn't long until shi realized shi needed to start preparing the landing site for the construction of the base.

Alex turned and began to walk back to the landing site. Shi was feeling really good all of a sudden, but figured it must just be that shi was walking on a planet's surface after many days trapped in space in a tin can. Don't think for a minute that shi did not like space travel. Shi just was happy to periodically get out and stretch hir legs, so to speak. As shi walked, Alex failed to notice the slowly increasing heat. The suit was designed to wick away all perspiration so Alex should not have been sweating. Somehow, shi was, though. Odder still was the fact that shi not only didn't notice hir sweat, shi seemed to actually be enjoying growing more and more sweaty and stinky. Finally reaching the ship, Alex walked up the ramp and into the ship. Normally the ship would detect the abnormal conditions of the crew. This time, however, whatever was effecting Alex seemed to effect the ship too. As Alex walked down the corridor, the ship began to change. No longer did the AI care about the mission. It now only cared about one thing.

Deep in the computer's core, the AI was being altered by the bio-mechanical infection that Alex had brought aboard. The AI no longer looked even remotely like the humanoid virtual presence it had been designed as. It was quickly becoming far more animalistic. Though, it did retain its humanoid shape, it was quickly growing fur and a tail. The AI, who now would insist on being called Aiden, was becoming a wolf furry. Aiden soon had become what every sentient being who ever called this planet home had become; a wolf furry with green fur and pink inner ears. Sure, the AI was still a virtual being inside a computer, but shi was now only different from the crew in being electronic rather than biological. Also, much like those before it, Aiden was growing more and more obsessed with sex.
